Patterns between wall pressures and stresses with grain moisture on cylindrical silo

  • The focus of this study were to investigate patterns between wall pressures and stresses with grain moisture of soybean and rice varieties widespread cultivated in Turkey in order to determine needed designing parameters for structure analysis in silos at filling and discharge. In this study, the wall pressures and stresses were evaluated as a function of moisture contents in the range of 8-14% and 10-14% d.b. The pressures and von Mises stresses affected as significant by the change of grain moisture content. The main cause of pressure and stress drops is changed in bulk density. Therefore is extremely important bulk density and moisture content of the product at the structural design of the silos. 4 mm wall thickness, were determined to be safe for von Mises stresses in both soybean and rice silos is smaller than 188000 kPa.

저장조건과 수분함량에 따른 버어리종 잎담배 수분활성도 및 이화학적 특성 변화 (Changes of Water Activity and Physico-chemical Properties of Burley Tobacco as Affected by Storage and Moisture Contents)

  • The study was carried out to investigate water activity, physicochemical properties and color degree of burley tobacco stored in shelf with different moisture content for 56 days. The study was consist of two experimental designs, that is, moisture content in burley tobacco was kept to 13 to 15 %, 17 to 19 %, and 21 to 23 % under ambient temperature of $20^{\circ}C$ with relative humidity of 24 %, and another group of in burley tobacco was only kept in ambient temperature of $3^{\circ}C$ with relative humidity of 50 % for 56 days with same water content of former treatment. Normal leaves were kept for 56 days under 21 to 23% of moisture content with increased water activity and TSNA(tobacco-specific nitrosamine content. It was considered that favorable leaves conditions are due to favorable microbial growth resulting in increased TSNA content. The total nitrogen content has not changed in two experimental groups for 56 days, otherwise the nitrate form nitrogen and total alkaloid contents were only increased by 21 to 23 % of water content. Degree of pH change was slightly decreased in both storage and water treatment. It was more decreased in 21 to 23% of moisture content than that of other moisture content. In stored leaf tobacco, higher moisture content caused lower brightness, yellow degree, and carbonization quotient.

침투도랑 설치에 따른 도로 구조 안정성의 유한요소 해석 (The finite element analysis on structural stability of road with infiltration trench)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the structural stability of pavement due to water infiltration at the road with infiltration trench as using the FEM(finite element analysis). Five cases for FEM is divided considering the amount of rainfall and rain duration time. The results of FEM show that the more rainfall in a short period time is faster the change of moisture content. Also, it is the proportional relationship between and changing area of moisture content of more than 40% due to rainfall. Case 3 and 4 are necessary to check the installation of infiltration trench because of moisture content of more than 40%, recovery time of initial moisture content, and changing area of more than 40%. Case 1,2, and 5 have no a significant effect on road pavement structure due to lower moisture content and shorter duration time of higher moisture content.

다양한 토양수분조건에 처리한 pretilachlor의 농도 및 활성 변화 (Change in concentration and bioactivity of soil-applied pretilachlor under various soil moisture conditions)

  • 토양중 pretilachlor의 농도와 식물체내 흡수 및 생리활성 변화에 관여하는 토양 환경요인중 토양수분의 영향에 대하여 검토하였다. 토양수분조건을 다양하게 조정(50-80%)한 뒤 동일량의 약제를 처리하여 재배피 (Echinochloa ultilis Ohwi et Yabuno)의 생육반응을 검토한 결과, 토양수분의 증가와 함께 생육이 억제되었다. 같은 조건으로 처리한 토양시료를 2중 원심관을 이용하여 토양과 토양용액(식물이 이용 가능한 유효수)으로 분리하여 pretilachlor 유효성분량의 분포를 HPLC로 분석 검토한 결과, 처리량의 대부분이 토양입자에 흡착되어 잔존하였으며 토양용액내에는 처리량의 12%정도에 지나지 않았다. 또한 토양용액내의 약제농도는 토양수분조건의 차이에도 불구하고 거의 일정하였으며 유효 존재량은 토양수분 함량이 높아짐에 따라 추출용액량과 함께 증가하였다. $^{14}C$-pretilachlor를 처리한 토양에서 식물체내 흡수분포를 살펴본 결과, 토양수분 함량의 증가와 함께 뚜렷한 흡수량의 증가를 보였다. 이상과 같이 토양처리한 pretilachlor의 활성발현은 토양용액내의 농도와 약제의 흡수량에 의존하였으며 흡수량은 토양용액내에 존재하는 유효량에 기인하는 것으로 판단되었다.

종자 혼입율과 입도를 달리한 고추가루의 저장 중 색과 매운맛 성분의 변화 (Changes of Colors and Pungent Principles of Red Pepper Powder with Different Seed Contents and Particle Sizes During Storage)

  • Red pepper powders with variuos seed contents (0%, 10%, 20%) and particle sizes were stored at 0$^{\circ}C$, 20$^{\circ}C$, and 30$^{\circ}C$ for 90 days, and the changes in their characteristics were monitored. The initial moisture content was about 13%, and the powders were packed in 0.1 mm-thick polypropylene (PP) bags. Moisture content of each power remained constantly, so PP bags appeared to be effective to prevent moisture transmission. All the values of L*, a* and b* were higher in fine particles than in coarse particles. Storage at 0$^{\circ}C$ did not change any color values, however, overall color values devreased apparently when stored at 30$^{\circ}C$ for 90 days. Capsanthin contents decreased gradually at all storage temperatures and more rapidly at higher temperature. The contents of capsaicinoids in fine particles (49∼59 mg%) were twic as much as those in coarse particles (15∼36 mg%), and they did not change throughout the storage.

An Interface Module for Dehumidify Dryer in a Injection Molding Smart Factory System

  • When the injection molding system molds some plastic products, defective product rate will be increased if plastic materials have some excessive moisture content. Therefore, it is very important to control the dehumidification and drying of plastic material. Since the moisture content of the plastic material may change from time to time depending on the material and the molding process, it is necessary to observe the change in real time and maintain a constant moisture content. To solve these problems, I proposed a smart factory system model for plastic molding in this paper. In addition, I designed the interface module to be installed in the dehumidifying dryer which is the core of this process. In addition to this, performance tests were conducted to check the effectiveness and the results were verified as valid.

  • Plywood is one of the important materials in LNG cargo containment systems, and, due to the characteristics of the wood, its properties vary greatly depending on the humidity conditions in the storage facility. Due to the distribution environment of plywood, there is a high probability of long-term exposure to the domestic seasonal environment. Considering an environment in which the humidity changes greatly according to the seasons in Korea and the characteristics of the wood, it is necessary to acquire data on changes in the characteristics of the plywood for accurate quality control. In this study, the moisture content of plywood was determined experimentally to reflect the seasonal environmental conditions of shipyards in Korea. A noticeable change in the thermal conductivity was confirmed experimentally.

Development of a Real-Time Soil Moisture Meter using Oscillation Frequency Shift Method

  • The objective of this study was to develop a real-time soil moisture meter using RF impedance. The impedance suchas capacitance and resistance (or conductance) was analyzed using parallel cylinder type capacitance probe(C-probe) and Q-meter (HP4342). The capacitance and conductance of soil increased as volumetric water content increased. The 5 MHz of modified Colpitts type crystal oscillator was designed to detect the capacitance change of the C-probe with moist soil. A third order polynomial regression model was proposed to describe the relationship between RF impedance and volumetric water content. The prototype real time moisture meter consisted of the C-probe, sample container, oscillator, frequency counter and related signal processing units. The calibration equation for measurement of volumetric moisture content of soil was developed and validated. The correlation coefficient and root mean square error between measured volumetric water content by oven method and predicted values by prototype moisture meter for unknown soil samples were 0.984 and 0.032$cm^3$$cm\^3$, respectively.

적정수분 관리를 위한 담배흡습속도에 관한 연구 (Studies on Absorption Ratio of Tobacco for Optimum Moisture Control)

  • 1. Average moisture content of tobacco in BIB silo was about 19: 1% until 4hours conditioned time, and then moisture variation of tobacco after 2hr conditioned was very small. 2. Application of mathematical model for ordering system. 1) The constant K in the exponential equation varies inversely with both relative humidity and equilibrium moisture. 2) Time needed to order blending tobacco leaves with standard moisture from bulking and blending silo was 4 hours. 3) Reconstituted tobacco sheet had higher moisture absorption ratio than Oriental and Burley tobacco. 4) For minimize of conditioning time in BIB silo, the values of K and Mo given in this study can be used in equation(1) to calculate moisture absorption ratio and optimum conditioning time. 3. Average moisture content and water activity of conditioned tobacco for 4 hours in BIB silo was about 20% and 0.65. In this condition. microbial life will inhibite 4. Physical properties of conditioned tobacco in bulking and blending silo for 4hours was virtually no change.

Glass Transition Temperature of Honey Using Modulated Differential Scanning Calorimetry (MDSC): Effect of Moisture Content

  • Glass transition phenomena in nine Korean pure honeys (moisture content 18.3~20.1%) and honey-water mixtures by different water contents (0, 2, 5, and 10% w/w) were investigated with modulated different scanning calorimetry (MDSC). The total, reversing, and non-reversing heat flows were quantified during heating using MDSC. Glass transition was observed from reversing heat flow separated from the total heat flow. The glass transition temperatures ($T_g$) of pure honeys, which are in the range of $-42.7^{\circ}C$ to $-50.0^{\circ}C$, varied a lot with low determination coefficient ($R^2$=0.63), whereas those of honey-water mixtures decreased with a decrease in honey content. The $T_g$ values were also more significantly different among honey-water mixtures when compared to pure honeys, indicating that in the honey-water mixture system the $T_g$ values appear to be greatly dependent on moisture content. The measured heat capacity change (${\Delta}C_p$) was not influenced by moisture content.
