  • The combined waterproofing method is an excellent method to overcome the disadvantages of the single waterproofing method by composing two or more materials to complement each other, but it is a method that can cause defects such as separation and peeling between materials due to the heterogeneity of the applied two materials. In order to improve this, in this study, we aimed to develop a technology for inducing chemical unification between materials through a urea reaction with a coating material applied on the lower side by laminating a nonwoven fabric treated with a modified amine on the back surface of the sheet material, The adhesion performance test was carried out with the presence or absence of denatured amine treated nonwovens as variables. As a result of the test, it was confirmed that the adhesion performance of the specimen to which the modified amin - treated nonwoven fabric was applied was improved by about 60% or more as compared with the specimens not having the denatured amine treated specimen.

  • In this study, poly(ether-block-amide) (PEBAX)/zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8)-polyetherimide (PEI), and PEBAX/amine-modified ZIF-8 (amineZIF-8)-PEI composite membranes were prepared by varying the contents of ZIF-8 and amineZIF-8. Also the gas permeability properties of N2 and CO2 were investigated for each composite membrane. The N2 and CO2 permeability of the PEBAX/ZIF-8-PEI composite membrane increased as the ZIF-8 content increased, while the CO2/N2 selectivity gradually decreased. In the case of the PEBAX/amineZIF-8-PEI composite membrane, the permeability of N2 decreased slightly, and CO2 increased till amineZIF-8 amount was 0.5 wt% and then decreased when the content increased further. The CO2/N2 selectivity was the highest with a value of 78.3 at 0.5 wt% of amineZIF-8. because the amine modification in the amineZIF-8 improves the compatibility between PEBAX and amineZIF-8, It seems that amineZIF-8 was evenly dispersed in PEBAX, which could be greatly influenced by the porousity of ZIF-8 and also the affinity of amine toward CO2.

  • In this work, the $CO_2$ adsorption behaviors of amine functionalized activated carbons (ACs) were investigated. The surface of ACs was modified with urea, melamine, diethylenetriamine (DETA), pentaethylenehexamine (PEHA), polyethylenimine (PEI), and 3-aminopropyl-triethoxysilane (ATPS). The various surface properties of amine functionalized ACs were characterized by Boehm's method, nitrogen full isotherms, XPS, and TGA analyses. The active ingredients impregnated on the ACs show significant influence on the adsorption for $CO_2$ and its volumes adsorbed on amine functionalized ACs are larger than that on the pristine ACs, which is due to the grafted amine groups of the AC surfaces.

  • One of the most important parameters required to model the absorption of CO2 into aqueous alkanolamine solutions is physical solubility. However, since CO2 reacts in amine solutions, its physical solubility cannot be measured directly. As a result, a nonreacting gas which is similar to CO2 has to be used such as N2O. The solubility of nitrous oxide (N2O) in aqueous solutions of 0wt%-50wt% MDEA, 0wt%-30wt% DEA, and 50wt % total amine with DEA/MDEA molar ratios of 0.05, 0.25, 0.5 and 0.67 was measured using a modified Zipperclave reactor over a temperature range of 293-353 K with near atmospheric partial pressures of N2O. the solubility data from this work were K with near atmospheric partial pressures of N2O. The solubility data from this work were found to be in good agreement with previously reported data where available.

  • In this study, PEBAX/ZIF-8 and PEBAX/amineZIF-8 composite membranes were prepared according to the content of zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8), amine-modified ZIF-8 (amineZIF-8), the gas permeability properties of N2 and CO2 were investigated for each composite membrane. In the case of the PEBAX/ZIF-8 composite membrane, the permeability of N2 and CO2 increased as the ZIF-8 content increased, and in the case of the PEBAX/amineZIF-8 composite membrane, the permeability of N2 and CO2 increased up to 20 wt% of amineZIF-8, but decreased at the higher content. CO2/N2 ideal selectivity increased up to 20 wt% of ZIF-8 and amineZIF-8 contents in both PEBAX/ZIF-8 and PEBAX/ amineZIF-8 composite membranes, and then decreased thereafter, in the case of PEBAX/amineZIF-8 composite membrane was less decreased. The reason for the highest CO2/N2 ideal selectivity at 20 wt% of amineZIF-8 is that amine modification improved the compatibility between PEBAX and amineZIF-8, and thus amineZIF-8 was evenly dispersed in PEBAX, resulting in the greatest effect of the porous ZIF-8 with a 3.4 Å pore size and the amine with affinity for CO2.

  • Aminopropyl terminated polydimethylsiloxane was synthesized by hydrosilylation reaction with hydride terminated polydimethlysiloxane and allyl amine. Polydimethylsiloxane modified urea with isocyanate group was prepared from cyclic trimer of hexamethyldiisocyanate with aminopropyl terminated polydimethylsiloxane. Polydimethylsiloxane modified urea/acrylate resin (PUA) was prepared from the urethane reaction of PU with isocyanate group and 2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate. PUA structure was analyzed by FTIR and NMR. Coating materials were prepared by mixing PUA, acrylic monomer, photo-initiator, and solvent and coated on PET film to obtain flexible hard coating film by UV irradiation.

  • Activated carbon fiber (ACF) was surface modified by nitric acid to improve the adsorption efficiency of the propylamine. Functional groups and textural properties of modified ACF were investigated. The total surface acidity increased about 7 times to that of as-received ACF by modification with 1 M nitric acid solution, carboxylic and phenolic groups mainly increased. However, the specific surface areas and the total pore volumes of the modified ACFs were decreased by 5-8% due to the increased blocking (or demolition) of micropores in the presence of newly introduced complexes. Despite the decrease of textural properties, it was found that the amount of propylamine adsorbed by the modified ACFs was increased by approximately 17%. The oxygen and nitrogen contents on the modified ACF increased by 1.5 and 3 times compared with the as-received ACF. From the XPS results, it was observed that propylamine reacted with strong or weak acidic groups, such as -COOH or -OH on the ACF surfaces, resulting in the formation of pyrrolic-, pyridonic- or pyridine-like structures.

  • A tyrosinase-immobilized biosensor was developed based on various amine-modified multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWNT) supports for the detection of phenolic compounds. MWNTs with various amine groups were prepared by radiation-induced graft polymerization of glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) onto MWNT supports and the subsequent amination of poly(GMA) graft chains. The physical and chemical properties of the poly(GMA)-grafted MWNT supports and the aminated MWNT supports were investigated by SEM, XPS, and TGA. Furthermore, the electrochemical properties of the prepared tyrosinase-modified biosensor based on MWNT supports with amine groups were also investigated. The response of the enzymatic biosensor was in the range of 0.1-0.9 mM for the concentration of phenol in a phosphate buffer solution. Various parameters influencing biosensor performance have been optimized: binder effects, pH, temperature, and the response to various phenolic compounds. The biosensor was tested on phenolic compounds contained in two different commercial red wines.
