  • This study is to propose the basic data for deciding remodeling of wornout educational facilities. In order of it, the indoor environmental standard, the actual conditions of thermal environment and sound insulation of walls were examined through field measurement in the subjected open elementary school(J school) and modernization model of elementary school(Y school) which they are located in Seoul. As the result, standard for indoor environmental factors of educational facilities which is established by Ministry of Education is not subdivided into indoor environmental performances considering usages and characteristics of classrooms for comfortable indoor environment. The vertical temperature difference in general classroom and in open classroom showed to be $11.2^{\circ}C$ and $12.1^{\circ}C$ respectively, while indoor temperature of special classroon was, on the whole, higher than that of any other classroom due to its specific heat flux of wall materials. The sound insulation performance of the masonry brick wall of classroom satisfied the minimum standard of AIJ, Architectural Institute of Japan, in the open elementary school and the modernization model of elementary school. That is to say, the movable partition wall between the classroom and the corridor disturbed students in their class in the open school.

  • The article identifies the problem of monitoring the quality of higher education in three main areas, which are comparative pedagogical systems of education. The first direction is determined by dissertation works, the second - monographs and textbooks, and the third reveals scientific periodicals. According to its internal structure, monitoring the quality of education combines important management components identified in the article (analysis, evaluation and forecasting of processes in education; a set of methods for tracking processes in education; collecting and processing information to prepare recommendations for research processes and make necessary adjustments). Depending on the objectives, three areas of monitoring are identified: informational (involves the accumulation, structuring and dissemination of information), basic (aimed at identifying new problems and threats before they are realized at the management level), problematic (clarification of patterns, processes, hazards, those problems that are known and significant from the point of view of management). According to its internal structure, monitoring the quality of education combines the following important management components: analysis, evaluation and forecasting of processes in education; a set of techniques for tracking processes in education; collection and processing of information in order to prepare recommendations for the development of the studied processes and make the necessary adjustments. One of the priorities of the higher education modernization program during the COVID-19 pandemic is distance learning, which is possible due to the existence of information and educational technologies and communication systems, especially for effective education and its monitoring in higher education. The conditions under which the effectiveness of pedagogical support of monitoring activities in the process of distance learning is achieved are highlighted. According to the results of the survey, the problems faced by higher education seekers are revealed. • Before the modern education was introduced in Korea men had the opportunity to be educated. Women's education was limited to a small number of girls belonging to ruling class. It was the men who got a job to earn the money for the family. The customary law prohibited women from being employed. They were to stay at home engaged in household affairs. This phenomenon has undergone a change when modern education was adopted which gave women the equal opportunity in education. The modernization of the country required a lot of educated and skilled labour. Since 1945 when Korea was liberated from the Japanese colonial administration the modernization programme has been worked out in every field such as industry, education, culture and politics, etc. The traditional grand family was transformed to nuclear family. The migration took place from country to town. With the adoption of compulsory education in the primary school the schoolgirls are increased in great number. The number of girls has been increased every year in Middle Schools, High schools and Universities. Even if boys still outnumber girls in all education institutions, the rate of increase of girl students are higher than that of boy students. Accordingly women are given more opportunity than ever for the employment vis-a-vis men. The number of employed women has been increasing greatly in recent years inproportion to the acceleration of industrialization. The type of their job is also various and colorful ranging from factory worker to doctor and lawyer. There are some problems to be solved with respect to the improvement of women's education. The improved women's education should be reviewed light of the fact that inequality still exists between men and women in occupation and wages, and that women is required of good education contributable to the better Korean society.

  • This study aimed to provide insight into methods for activating management of traditional markets by understanding differences in merchant perception according to whether or not the merchant has participated in management activation education. Analysis of merchants' levels of perception of market activation found that educated merchants had a higher perception of pre-post modernization satisfaction, promotion of traditional market revitalization projects, and post-support changes in sales. In a co-marketing context, educated merchants showed significant differences in onnuri gift certificates, bargain sales, festivals and events, and advertisement promotions. With regards to perception of management performances, educated merchants showed statistically significant higher responses for items such as satisfaction with the current vendor, increased sales, and increased customer awareness. The results in this study may be incorporated into the policy-making processes of the government or local governments in order to revitalize traditional markets, and merchant education for activation of management is deemed to be continuously necessary.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the prevalence and correlated factors of sexual behavior among high school students in Seoul A sample of 233 male and 248 female high school students were analyzed using cross-tabulation and logit regression models. Correlated factors examined include type of school, level of mothers education, perceived living status of family, whether family has two parents or not, and whether students have ever lived away from the family, whether students received reproductive health education at school and whether they have friends with sexual experience, whether students have ever smoking and alcohol drinking. The prevalence of alcohol drinking was 73% among boys and 55% among girls and the prevalence of smoking was 64% of boys and 40% of girls, whereas the prevalence of sexual activity was 27% among boys and 15% among girls. Risk taking was more prevalent among boys than among girls. Multiple risk taking behavior was common for both boys and girls. Students who did not have two parents were more likely to engage in risk taking behavior than those who had two parents. For both boys and girls, the factor that affects their own sexual activity most was having a friend who was sexually active and having an experience of living away from their family also increases the odds. For girls, the factor that affects having experience of alcohol drinking and smoking. Receiving reproductive health education at school had no effect on students sexual behavior. Much higher risk taking behavior with sexual behavior among students in Seoul implies that the overall prevalence of risk taking behavior among high school students was likely to rise as South Korea continues its modernization. In-school and community health education programs need to be modified to be effective in protecting students from risk taking sexual behavior.

  • The determination of the geoid in South Korea is a national imperative for the modernization of height datums, specifically the orthometric height and the dynamic height, that are used to monitor hydrological systems and environments with accuracy and easy revision, if necessary. The geometric heights above a reference ellipsoid, routinely obtained by GPS, lead immediately to vertical control with respect to the geoid for hydrological purposes if the geoid height above the ellipsoid is known accurately. The geoid height is determined from gravimetric data, traditionally ground data, but in recent times also from airborne data. This paper illustrates the basic concepts for combining these two types of data and gives a preliminary performance assessment of either set or their combination for the determination of the geoid in South Korea. It is shown that the most critical aspect of the combination is the gravitational effect of the topographic masses above the geoid, which, if not properly taken into account, introduces a significant bias of about 8 mgal in the gravity anomalies, and which can lead to geoid height bias errors of up to 10 cm. It is further confirmed and concluded that achieving better than 5 cm precision in geoid heights from gravimetry remains a challenge that can be surmounted only with the proper combination of terrestrial and airborne data, thus realizing higher data resolution over most of South Korea than currently available solely from the airborne data.
