The Effects of Knowledge Assets on the Performances of Startup Firms: Moderating Effects of Promotion Focus

  • This study examined the effects of startup firm's knowledge assets on the effectiveness of their sales strategies, efficiency of sales activities, and management performance, after categorizing these assets into customer knowledge assets and technology knowledge assets. Furthermore, the moderating effects of promotion focus by CEOs and sales managers of startup firms were analyzed. For the analysis, dyadic questionnaire surveys were conducted targeting the CEOs and sales managers of startup firms established at the Gyeongnam Technopark and the KAIST Technology Business Incubation Center in Korea. Hypotheses were verified through structural equation modeling, and moderating effects were identified through ANOVA. CEO's customer knowledge asset strengthened their effectiveness of sales strategies, and sales manager's technology knowledge asset strengthened the efficiency of their sales activities. Also, CEO's effectiveness of sales strategies and sales manager's efficiency of sales activities have been found to enhance startup firm's management performance. Meanwhile, the moderating effect of promotion focus strengthened CEO's effectiveness of sales strategies through CEO's customer knowledge asset and interaction as CEO's promotion focus level increased, but promotion focus of sales managers did not have any significant interaction effect. This study provides implications by offering empirical evidence on startup firms with regard to knowledge assets.

  • Purpose: This study aims to analyze the success factors of information systems and the moderating effect of individual factors in mandatory environment. Methods: In order to test the model, a questionnaire survey is delivered from salespersons of an insurance company in Seoul, Korea. 200 questionnaires are finally analyzed. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is adopted to analyze the data and Smart PLS 2.0 is used for examining the moderator effect. Results: The extended model proposed in this paper adopted individual factors and examined their moderator effect among constructs. An empirical test is carried out accordingly in order to test the model proposed in this paper. The results reveal that individual factors (i.e. Computer Self-Efficacy, Anxiety, Personal Innovativeness in IT) have a significant moderating effect on individual performance in the environment of mandatory information system usage. Conclusion: This paper extended the research field of information system success model to information systems in mandatory environment regarding differences of individual factors.

Effects of Coaching Leadership and Moderating Effects of Trust in Leader and Followership on Job Satisfaction among Dental Hygienists (치과위생사의 코칭리더십 인식이 직무만족에 미치는 영향과 상사신뢰 및 팔로워십의 조절효과)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to suggest an efficient human-resources direction for the management of dental hygienists, the study analyzes the influential relationship between superior's coaching leadership as perceived by dental hygienists and their on the job satisfaction, and proves the moderating effects of leader trust and of followership in the process. Methods : To test the empirical model, data were collected by survey using structural self-administered questionnaires that were distributed to 300 dental hygienists working at dental clinics in the Busan, Ulsan, Gyeongnam, and Gyeonggi areas, from 27 March to 10 April, 2015, 286 cases were used in final analysis. Results : Coaching leadership is found to have a significant influence on job satisfaction. Trust in a leader showed a significant main moderating effect on job satisfaction, on the other hand, followership showed a significant main effect, but no significant moderating effect, on job satisfaction. Conclusions : The results of this study imply that leadership factors such as coaching leadership and leader trust are crucial for improving the job satisfaction of dental hygienists, therefore, a program for enhancing the leadership skills of dental managers is needed in dental health organizations.

Online Game Addiction and Adolescent's Delinquency: Verification of the Moderating Effect of Depression and Anxiety (청소년의 온라인 게임중독과 비행 간의 관계 : 우울과 불안의 조절효과 검증)

  • This study was planned to examine the moderating effects of depression and anxiety and the relationship between online game addiction and adolescents' delinquency. Data were collected from children and youth's mental health advocacy research by National Youth Policy Institute. The subjects were 409 adolescents aged between 14 and 18. Correlational analysis and hierarchical regression analysis were conducted to test research hypotheses. Results of this study were as follows: first, online game addiction had a significant positive relations with adolescents' delinquency. Second, depression and anxiety were significant positive relations with each other. And depression and anxiety were significant positive relations with adolescents' delinquency. The result from hierarchical regression analysis showed that significant moderating effect of depression was found. But the result wasn't exhibited twithin hat the two-way interaction effects of depression. On the other hand, result from hierarchical regression analysis showed that significant moderating effect of anxiety wasn't found. In conclusion, this study proposed the need for counseling approach focused on 'depression' in order to reduce the adolescent's delinquency.

Influence of emotional labor on job burnout in dental hygienists: the moderating effect of employee support (치과위생사의 감정노동수행형태가 직무소진에 미치는 영향: 동료지지의 조절효과)

  • Objectives: The purpose of the study is to investigate the influence of emotional labor on job burnout in dental hygienists based on the moderating effect of employee support. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire by Likert 5 point scale was completed by 219 dental hygienists in Ulsan and Gyeongbuk from March 15 to April 9, 2016. The study instruments consisted of emotional labor, job burnout og Maslach Burnout Inventory, and employee support. Data were analyzed by descriptive analysis, Pearson's correlation, multiple regression analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis using SPSS 18.0 program. Results: Surface acting had a positive influence on achievement and negative influence on impersonal chemistry. Inner acting had a positive influence on emotional burnout and achievement. Employee support had a moderating effect on emotional labor and job burnout. Conclusions: The strategy of emotional labor management for dental hygienists is very important for job burnout solution.

  • The purpose of this study was to measure the moderating effect of belief homogeneity on the relation-ships among attitudinal ambivalence, behavior intention and consumption behavior. The questionnaire, which consisted of items to measure the constructs of belief homogeneity, attitudinal ambivalence, behavior intention and consumption behavior, were completed by 338 subjects in Jeonnam area. Moderated regression analysis was used to measure the moderating effect of belief homogeneity. To test validity and reliability of constructs, factor analysis and Cronbach's $\alpha$ were used in this study. Results of the study demonstrated that the moderated regression analysis result for the data also indicated a better model fit in Model 2 than Model 1. In the Model 1, the main effects of behavior intention and attitudinal ambivalence on consumption behavior were statistically significant. In the Model 2, the main effects of behavior intention, belief homogeneity and attitudinal ambivalence on consumption behavior were statistically significant. The interactional effects of belief homogeneity$\times$attitudinal ambivalence on consumption behavior were statistically significant. Moreover, the effects of attitudinal ambivalence on consumption behavior were statistically significant at all levels of belief homogeneity, except for when homogeneity was high.

The Impacts of Social Welfare Worker's Interpersonal Stress on Job Burnout and Turnover Intention - Focusing on Moderating Effects of Stress Coping Ability

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between interpersonal stress and job burnout, turnover intention of social welfare worker's in social welfare center and efficient response of welfare worker's. In order to accomplish this study purpose, the interpersonal stress of social welfare worker's in social welfare center as an independent variable, interpersonal stress as a dependent variable of job burnout and turnover intention, and stress coping ability as a moderating variable were selected. The causal relationship between interpersonal stress and job burnout, turnover intention and the moderating effect of stress coping ability were analyzed. As a result of the analysis, the interpersonal stress of social welfare worker's showed a significant effect on job burnout and turnover intention. Also, moderating effects of stress copying ability were significant. Based on the results of this analysis, the theoretical implications and policy implications of this study are suggested, and the directions and limitations of this study are suggested.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the moderating role of customer and supplier participation in the relationship between new product/service development processes and product/service innovation. The research result shows that the high customer participation plays the moderating role in the relationship between strategy design and product/service innovation. Thus, if customers give ideas in the strategy design process, the probability of new product/service innovation will be increased. The conclusions and implications are discussed.

Effects of Self-Criticism on Social Anxiety among College Students: Focus on Moderating Effects of Self-Foriveness (대학생의 자기비난이 사회불안에 미치는 영향: 자기용서의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • This study examined the moderating effect of self-forgiveness on the relationship between self-criticism and social anxiety among male and female college students. This study included 441 college students (211 male and 230 female students) with an average age of 22.2. Pearson correlation analysis and hierarchical regression analysis were conducted. As a result, the moderating effect of self-forgiveness on the relationship between self-criticism and social anxiety was significant for male students. A higher level of self-criticism tended to result in a higher level of social anxiety that was strengthened in the group of lower level of self-forgiveness versus a tendency for self-criticism to increase male social anxiety was weaker in the group with a higher level of self-forgiveness. However, the moderating effect of self-forgiveness was not significant in female students and only the main effect of self-criticism on social anxiety was significant. The results provide a basis to understand the psychological processes of social anxiety in college students. The results suggest the necessity to intervene and strengthen self-forgiveness as a protective factor to alleviate the negative effects of self-blame on social anxiety in male college students.

Moderating Effects of Self-Esteem and Self-Efficacy in the Relationship between Professional Self-Concept and Satisfaction in their Major among Nursing Students (간호학생의 전문직 자아개념과 전공만족과의 관계에서 자아존중감과 자기효능감의 조절효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate moderating effects of self-esteem and self-efficacy in relationship between professional self-concept and satisfaction in their major among nursing students. Methods: Data was collected from 223 nursing students by means of a questionnaire. Data was analyzed with descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient and hierarchical multiple regression using the SPSS 12.0 program. Results: There was a significantly positive relationship between professional self-concept, self-esteem, self-efficacy, and satisfaction in their major. Self-esteem and self-efficacy showed moderating effects in professional self-concept and satisfaction in their major. Conclusion: This finding suggests the importance of moderating effects of self-esteem and self-efficacy to increase nursing student's professional self-concept and satisfaction in their major. Therefore, strategies should be developed in order to promote self-esteem, self-efficacy, and professional socialization for satisfaction in the nursing major.
