  • This paper suggests constraint data modeling based on constraint data presentation techniques to perform complex spatial database operation naturally. We were able to identify the limitation of extendibility of dimension and non-equal framework via relevant research for former schema of spatial database and query processing. Therefore we described generalized tuple of spatial data and the definition of suggested constraint data modeling. Also we selected MLPQ/PReSTO tool among constraint database prototype and compare standard functionality of ARC/VIEW. Then we design scenario for spatial operation using MLPQ/PReSTO and we suggested application effect after query processing. Based on above explanation, we were able to identify that we can process spatial data naturally and effectively using simple constraint routine on same framework via constraint data modeling.

  • The radar method is becoming one of the major nondestructive testing (NDT) techniques for concrete structures. Numerical modeling of electromagnetic wave is needed to analyze radar measurement results and to study the influence of measurement parameters on the radar measurements. Finite difference-time domain (FD-TD) method is used to simulate electromagnetic wave propagation through concrete specimens. Three concrete specimens with a 19.1 mm rebar embedded at 40 mm, 60 mm, and 80 mm depth are modeled in 3-dimension. As results, 2-D image processing scheme of modeling data has been developed and applied to the imaging of steel bars inside concrete.

  • To quantitatively measure or evaluate aesthetic factors is not easy in comparison with physical, functional, behavioral or economic factors. Yet aesthetic factors essentially play an important role in design modeling process. Despite its importance, research on aesthetic assessment or the interaction of aesthetic influential elements is insufficient. Therefore, this study is intended to find the relationships between visual preference and aesthetic variables of perceptual-cognitive dimension and affective dimension in commercial space design. According to the result of this substantiation research, aesthetic variables that give a positive effect on the preference of commercial space design are unity, order, and clarity in perceptual-cognitive dimension and 'pleasant', 'relaxing' in affective dimension. On the other side, aesthetic variables that give a negative effect on the preference are contrast, complexity, and ambiguity that is a contrary concept of clarity in perceptual-cognitive dimension and 'exciting', 'arousing' in affective dimension.

  • In the past, most of battle occurred in flatland and simple military force size gave a big influence in combat result. However, after the World War I, most of battles took place at the various terrain features such as forest, downtown, jungle and many others. Therefore, terrain factor exerts big influence on battle with weapon system in the ground warfare. However, effect of terrain has been explained only by quantitative manner in the battle. Furthermore, combat simulation and modeling applied a method that lower the combat capability of battle factors. In this paper, we present instrumentation that evaluate impact of terrain using fractal dimension. We determine the fractal dimension value by the "box counting dDimension" and density to calculate impact of terrain. Furthermore, we analyzed correlation with fractal dimension and density for battle result that obtained from the EINSTein model which is an agent-based simulation. We compare with 'Stalingrad battle' result out of battle example and analyzed. This study presented a method combat effectiveness that effect of terrain calculate quantitatively using fractal dimension.

  • This paper investigates how airline service quality determines airline image and passengers' future behavioural intentions. To investigate the effect of airline service quality, Structural Equation Modeling using a maximum likelihood estimator, was applied to data collected from Korean international air passengers who have used Korean Airlines, Asiana Airlines, and other foreign airline. It was found that there were significant relationships between the variables. The dimension of in-flight service and the dimension of customer and flight related service were each found to have a positive effect on airline image. In addition, airline image had a significant positive influence on Korean international air passengers' future behavioural intentions.

  • Vibration characteristics of an duel-cooling cylindrical fuel rod, which was proposed as a candidate design of fuel's cross section for the ultra-high burnup nuclear fuel, according to the cross-sectional dimensions and the number of supports or the span length were analytically studied. Finite element(FE) modeling for the annular cross sectional fuel was based on the methodology, that have been proven by the test verification, for the conventional PWR nuclear fuel rod. A commercial FEA code, ABAQUS, was used for the FE modeling and analysis. A planar beam element (B21) that uses a linear interpolation was used for the fuel rod and a linear spring element for the spring and dimple of the SG. Natural frequencies and mode shape were calculated according to the preliminary design candidates for the fuel's cross sectional dimension and the number of span. From the analysis results, the design scheme of the annular fuel compatible to the present PWR nuclear reactor core was discussed in terms of the number of supports and fuel's cross section.

  • A transparent poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA) optical micro-pyramid array-pattern is designed and fabricated using an injection modeling technique. The device's optical characteristics are tested and analyzed theoretically. In the optical pattern generated using the fabricated PMMA pattern, the components, due to not only refraction but also diffraction, are observed simultaneously. Wave optic modeling and analysis reveals that the energy ratio between the diffraction and refraction in the optical pattern are dependent on the critical dimension of the optical pattern such that the refraction and diffraction tend to be directly and inversely proportional to the pattern dimension, respectively.

  • The effect of small-scale near surface inhomogeneity on Rayleigh wave propagation and dispersion has been investigated in this study using two-dimensional FEM elastic modeling. Various inhomogeneity models with a variety of geometrical shape and embedment depth which exist in homogeneous half-space and two-layered media are considered. Results show that any near surface inhomogeneity greater than one wavelength in terms of minimum wavelength of Rayleigh wave shows dispersion characteristics. Such dispersion effect become stronger as the dimensions of the inhomogeneity increase. The effect of horizontal dimension is more dominant factor governing the dispersion characteristics than vertical dimension. However, the dispersion effect can not be identifiable in seismogram if the horizontal dimension is not wide enough. Nonetheless, even in this case, the existence of inhomogeneity can be inferred by the reflection or transmission event of Rayleigh wave. The results can be expected to provide insights on the behavior of Rayleigh wave which may be helpful for designating field work or new processing scheme to detect near surface inhomogeneity by surface wave method.

  • Geo-radar survey which has the advantage of high-resolution and relatively fast survey has been widely used for engineering and environmental problems. Three-dimensional effects have to be considered in the interpretation of geo-radar for high-resolution. However, there exists a trouble on the analysis of the three dimensional effects. To solve this problem an efficient three dimension numerical modeling algorithm is needed. Numerical radar modeling in three dimensional case requires large memory and long calculating time. In this paper, a finite difference method time domain solution to Maxwell's equations for simulating electromagnetic wave propagation in three dimensional media was developed to make economic algorithm which requires smaller memory and shorter calculating time. And in using boundary condition Liao absorption boundary. The numerical result of cross-hole radar survey for tunnel is compared with real data. The two results are well matched. To prove application to three dimensional analysis, the results with variation of tunnel's incident angle to survey cross-section and the result when the tunnel is parallel to the cross-section were examined. This algorithm is useful in various geo-radar survey and can give basic data to develop dat processing and inversion program.
