  • ;There are many sources of uncertainty in a typical production and inventory system. There is uncertainty as to how many items customers will demand during the next day, week, month, or year. There is uncertainty about delivery times of the product. Uncertainty exacts a toll from management in a variety of ways. A spurt in a demand or a delay in production may lead to stockouts, with the potential for lost revenue and customer dissatisfaction. Firms typically hold inventory to provide protection against uncertainty. A cushion of inventory on hand allows management to face unexpected demands or delays in delivery with a reduced chance of incurring a stockout. The proposed strategies are used for the design of a probabilistic inventory system. In the traditional approach to the design of an inventory system, the goal is to find the best setting of various inventory control policy parameters such as the re-order level, review period, order quantity, etc. which would minimize the total inventory cost. The goals of the analysis need to be defined, so that robustness becomes an important design criterion. Moreover, one has to conceptualize and identify appropriate noise variables. There are two main goals for the inventory policy design. One is to minimize the average inventory cost and the stockouts. The other is to the variability for the average inventory cost and the stockouts The total average inventory cost is the sum of three components: the ordering cost, the holding cost, and the shortage costs. The shortage costs include the cost of the lost sales, cost of loss of goodwill, cost of customer dissatisfaction, etc. The noise factors for this design problem are identified to be: the mean demand rate and the mean lead time. Both the demand and the lead time are assumed to be normal random variables. Thus robustness for this inventory system is interpreted as insensitivity of the average inventory cost and the stockout to uncontrollable fluctuations in the mean demand rate and mean lead time. To make this inventory system for robustness, the concept of utility theory will be used. Utility theory is an analytical method for making a decision concerning an action to take, given a set of multiple criteria upon which the decision is to be based. Utility theory is appropriate for design having different scale such as demand rate and lead time since utility theory represents different scale across decision making attributes with zero to one ranks, higher preference modeled with a higher rank. Using utility theory, three design strategies, such as distance strategy, response strategy, and priority-based strategy. for the robust inventory system will be developed.loped.

Variance Components and Genetic Parameters for Milk Production and Lactation Pattern in an Ethiopian Multibreed Dairy Cattle Population

  • The objective of this study was to estimate variance components and genetic parameters for lactation milk yield (LY), lactation length (LL), average milk yield per day (YD), initial milk yield (IY), peak milk yield (PY), days to peak (DP) and parameters (ln(a) and c) of the modified incomplete gamma function (MIG) in an Ethiopian multibreed dairy cattle population. The dataset was composed of 5,507 lactation records collected from 1,639 cows in three locations (Bako, Debre Zeit and Holetta) in Ethiopia from 1977 to 2010. Parameters for MIG were obtained from regression analysis of monthly test-day milk data on days in milk. The cows were purebred (Bos indicus) Boran (B) and Horro (H) and their crosses with different fractions of Friesian (F), Jersey (J) and Simmental (S). There were 23 breed groups (B, H, and their crossbreds with F, J, and S) in the population. Fixed and mixed models were used to analyse the data. The fixed model considered herd-year-season, parity and breed group as fixed effects, and residual as random. The single and two-traits mixed animal repeatability models, considered the fixed effects of herd-year-season and parity subclasses, breed as a function of cow H, F, J, and S breed fractions and general heterosis as a function of heterozygosity, and the random additive animal, permanent environment, and residual effects. For the analysis of LY, LL was added as a fixed covariate to all models. Variance components and genetic parameters were estimated using average information restricted maximum likelihood procedures. The results indicated that all traits were affected (p<0.001) by the considered fixed effects. High grade $B{\times}F$ cows (3/16B 13/16F) had the highest least squares means (LSM) for LY ($2,490{\pm}178.9kg$), IY ($10.5{\pm}0.8kg$), PY ($12.7{\pm}0.9kg$), YD ($7.6{\pm}0.55kg$) and LL ($361.4{\pm}31.2d$), while B cows had the lowest LSM values for these traits. The LSM of LY, IY, YD, and PY tended to increase from the first to the fifth parity. Single-trait analyses yielded low heritability ($0.03{\pm}0.03$ and $0.08{\pm}0.02$) and repeatability ($0.14{\pm}0.01$ to $0.24{\pm}0.02$) estimates for LL, DP and parameter c. Medium heritability ($0.21{\pm}0.03$ to $0.33{\pm}0.04$) and repeatability ($0.27{\pm}0.02$ to $0.53{\pm}0.01$) estimates were obtained for LY, IY, PY, YD and ln(a). Genetic correlations between LY, IY, PY, YD, ln(a), and LL ranged from 0.59 to 0.99. Spearman's rank correlations between sire estimated breeding values for LY, LL, IY, PY, YD, ln(a) and c were positive (0.67 to 0.99, p<0.001). These results suggested that selection for IY, PY, YD, or LY would genetically improve lactation milk yield in this Ethiopian dairy cattle population.

한국 중년 남성을 대상으로 한 식품 섭취빈도 조사에서 나타난 식품섭취빈도의 상관성 분석 (Analysis of Relationship among the Intake Frequencies of the Food Items on Food Frequency Questionnaire Administered to Middle Aged Korean Males)

  • Intake frequency of one food is often associated with other food items, but few studies examined the relationship of food intake frequency among food items. Finding the relationship among intake frequencies of different food might be useful to understand the food intake patterns of population and correlated foods would be used as an indicators of another food intake. Relationship of food intake can be also applied to make a more simple and useful form of food frequency questionnaire to assess the association between diet and various diseases. The objective of this study was to examine the correlation of intake frequency among food items in food frequency questionnaire (FFQ). A FFQ with 84 food items was administered to 14533 Korean males who 40-65 years of age participating Korean cancer research survey. Data fromm 7647 subjects who completed FFQ were used to examine correlation among food items with three different methods-log linear regression models, Spearman correlation coefficients and cell frequency distribution. To examine the rank correlation, coefficients were calculated by Spearman correlation after scoring the frequency categories. Three most correlated foods were selected in every food intems by three methods each. In most food items, there was positive correlatin, except cooked rice and cooked brown rice, in intake frequency between foods that belonged to similar food groups. But serveral food items-Sausage (processed fish, cheese), Milk (whilte bread, orange juice), Soymilk(other juices), Cheese (pizza, butter), and Coffee(thick beef soup)-showed correlation among totally different food groups. Two sets of food items which were selected by log linear regression model and Sperman correlation coefficients were compared. There were exactly three common foods in 18 food items, 2 common foods in 47 items, 1 common food in 16 items and no common food in 3 items among 3 ranked foods. Three sets of selected food were compared. There were exactly three common foods in 5 food items, 2 common foods in 21 items, 1 common food in 34items and no common food in 24 items among 3 ranked foods. These results indicate that certain patterns exist among intake frequencies of specific food items in the FFQ. More researches are suggested to understand the relationshiops among the intakes of foods so that this information can be used in developing better FFQ or analyzing missing items from self-administered FFQ.

이중분광계수 모니터기반 진정제 투여가 내시경 점막하 박리술 환자의 의식하 진정상태, 생리적 안정성 및 회복시간에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Bispectral Index Monitoring Based Sedative Administration on Conscious Sedation, Physiological Stability and Recovery Time in Patients Receiving Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection)

  • Purpose: This study was done to clarify effects of bispectral index monitoring sedative administration, compared to MOAA/S (Modified Observer's Assessment of Alertness and Sedation), on conscious sedation, physiological stability and recovery time for patients undergoing endoscopic submucosal dissection. Methods: Participants In this study were patients who underwent endoscopic submucosal dissection because of early gastric cancer. Participants were assigned randomly to an experimental group receiving sedatives based on bispectral index monitoring or to a control group with the MOAA/S instrument. Movements, belching, memory, pain, discomfort, physiological stability (MBP, PR, $SpO_2$), and recovery time were measured during the treatment and recovery. Data were analyzed using Spearman partial correlation coefficient analysis, Mixed model and Wilcoxon rank sum test to determine differences in the parameters. Results: There were no statistically significant differences between the two groups for conscious sedation(movement, belching, memory, pain, or discomfort), physiological stability and recovery time. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that no differences were found between the two types of monitoring. Thus, use of a bispectral index monitor in clinical practice enabling medical staff to readily assess the conscious sedation of for these patients is expected to be increasingly used as an objective assessment tool for conscious sedation for patient safety.

우리나라 7대 광역시와 세계 770개 도시 경쟁력 비교분석 - Oxford Economics 자료에 근거한 도시경쟁력 - (An Analysis for Urban Competitiveness of Global Cities & 7 Metropolitan Korean Cities using Oxford Economics Data)

  • 본 연구는 Oxford Economics에서 제공하는 Global Cities Forecast 자료(2013)를 이용하여 한국의 7대 광역시를 포함한 전 세계 주요도시의 경쟁력지수 및 분배지수를 산출하고 그 종합순위를 정리하였다. 도시경쟁력지수는 규모지표, 비율지표, 성장률지표 등 총 18개 경제관련 지표를 선택하였고, 분배지수로서 지니계수를 이용하였다. 경쟁력지수와 지니계수 간의 관계를 분석하기 위하여 LOGIT 회귀모형을 이용하여 분석하였으며 추정결과 소득불평등(지니계수) 증가는 5년 시차로 볼 때 도시경쟁력지수 또한 경제성장률 변화에 음(-)의 영향을 미치고 있으며 통계적으로 유의하였다. 지니계수가 높을수록 도시경쟁력에 부정적으로 영향을 미친다는 추정결과에 따라 도시경쟁력지수에 분배지수를 포함시켜 총 19개 지표로 세계주요 도시 및 국내 7대 광역시의 글로벌 도시경쟁력 위상을 정리하였다. 2012년 실질가치 기준으로 계산된 서울의 도시 종합경쟁력 순위는 2010년 세계 59위, 2015년 세계 74위, 2030년에는 세계 185위로 급격히 하락하는 것으로 나타나고 있으며 나머지 6대 광역시의 종합경쟁력지수도 모두 하락하는 것으로 나타났다. 도시경쟁력 하락은 장기적으로 국가경쟁력 하락을 의미하므로 도시경쟁력 확보를 위한 문제점 진단과 전략적 방안의 강구가 절실히 요구된다.

'부분' 대 '전체' - 사회적 약자와 전체 인구의 삶의 질 지역 격차의 비교 - ('Part' vs. 'Whole': Comparison between the Socially Underprivileged and the Whole Population in Terms of Inter-regional Disparities in Quality of Life)

  • 이 연구는 역량 접근법을 기반으로 수도권-비수도권 간 삶의 질 격차의 측면에서 사회적 약자 계층과전체 인구 사이에 차이가 있는지를 비교하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 소득, 주거, 건강, 사회관계 등 역량의 9개 차원을 측정할 수 있는 지표를 선정하여 사회적 약자 계층과 전체 인구에 대해 각각 지표 값을 산출하고, 이를 표준화한 후 윌콕슨 부호순위 검정과 SUR 모형을 이용하여 비교 분석하였다. 그 결과 사회적 약자 대 전체 인구 사이에는 수도권-비수도권 격차에서 유의미한 차이가 있으며, 그 차이는 비수도권의 사회적 약자에게 가장 불리한 방향으로 대체로 일관되게 나타남을 확인하였다. 또한 전체 인구 평균의 관점에서 보면 수도권-비수도권 격차는 크지 않지만, 사회적 약자의 관점에서 보면 지역 격차는 아직도 상당한 수준임을 보여준다. 이러한 결과는 전체 인구의 평균에 대한 분석에 기초한 '평균적' 지역정책이 갖는 한계를 보여주고, 지역문제 분석에서 나타날 수 있는 생태학적 오류를 보여주는 의의를 갖는다.

Inhibitory Effects of Self-Fermented Pine Needle Extract on Catecholamine Release in the Rat Adrenal Medulla

  • The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of several fractions obtained from methylene chloride ($CH_2Cl_2$) extract of self-fermented pine needle (SFPNE) on the acetylcholine (ACh)-evoked CA release from the isolated perfused model of the rat adrenal medulla and to establish the mechanism of the most active fraction (Fr.)-induced inhibitory action on the CA release. We obtained 6 fractions from $CH_2Cl_2$ extract of self-fermented pine needle. For the ACh (5.32 mM)-evoked CA release, the following rank order of inhibitory potency was obtained: Fr.4-5 > Fr.8-11 ${\gg}$ Fr.3 > Fr.6 = Fr.7 > Fr.1-2. Fr. 4 - 5 (60 ${\mu}g/mL$) perfused into an adrenal vein for 90 min produced relatively time-dependent inhibition of the CA secretory responses to ACh (5.32 mM), DMPP (100 ${\mu}M$), McN-A-343 (100 ${\mu}M$) and high $K^+$ (56 mM). Fr. 4 - 5 itself did not affect basal CA secretion. Also, in the presence of Fr. 4 - 5 (60 ${\mu}g/mL$), the CA secretory responses to angiotensin II (AngII, 0.1 ${\mu}M$), veratridine (50 ${\mu}M$), Bay-K-8644 (10 ${\mu}M$), and cyclopiazonic acid (10 ${\mu}M$) were significantly reduced, respectively. In the simultaneous presence of Fr. 4 - 5 (60 ${\mu}g/mL$) and L-NAME (30 ${\mu}M$), the inhibitory responses of Fr. 4 - 5 on the CA secretion evoked by ACh, DMPP, high $K^+$, AngII, Bay-K-8644 and veratridine were considerably recovered to the extent of the corresponding control secretion compared with that of Fr. 4 - 5-treatment alone. The level of NO released from adrenal medulla after the treatment of Fr. 4 - 5 (60 ${\mu}g/mL$) was greatly elevated compared with the basal level. Taken together, these results demonstrate that Fr. 4 - 5 inhibits the CA secretion from the isolated perfused rat adrenal medulla evoked by stimulation of cholinergic receptors as well as by direct membrane-depolarization. It seems that this inhibitory effect of Fr. 4 - 5 is mediated by blocking the influx of $Ca^{2+}$ and $Na^+$ into the adrenomedullary chromaffin cells as well as by inhibition of $Ca^{2+}$ release from the cytoplasmic calcium store, which is evoked at least partly through the increased NO production due to the activation of NO synthase. Based on these results, it is also thought that Fr. 4 - 5 isolated from $CH_2Cl_2$ extract of pine needle may contain beneficial antihypertensive components to prevent or treat hypertension.

주관적·객관적 가중치를 활용한 TOPSIS 기반 단위유역별 물이용 취약성 평가 (Assessment of water use vulnerability in the unit watersheds using TOPSIS approach with subjective and objective weights)

  • 본 연구는 유역의 물이용 취약성을 평가하는 지표 기반 접근법을 개발하고 이를 한강유역의 단위유역에 적용하였다. 평가 지표는 기후뿐만 아니라 사회 경제 환경적 측면을 고려하여 총 16개를 선정하였으며, 취약성 정의에 따라 노출, 민감도, 적응능력으로 구성하였다. 이는 다기준 의사결정기법(Multi-criteria Decision Making, MCDM) 중 TOPSIS (Technique for Order Performance by Similarity to Ideal Solution)를 적용하여 유역에 대한 취약성을 도출하였다. 지표 자료는 2010년을 기준으로 수집하였으며, 국가 통계 자료 및 SWAT (Soil and Water Assessment Tool) 모형의 모의 자료를 활용하였다. 또한, 각 지표에 대한 가중치는 전문가 설문조사를 통하여 산정된 주관적 가중치(Subjective weight)와 자료 기반 엔트로피(Entropy) 개념을 활용하여 산정된 객관적 가중치(Objective weight)로 구분하여 적용하였다. 수도를 포함하고 있는 한강 유역에 대하여 표준단위유역별 취약성을 평가하고 우선순위 비교 및 순위상관 분석을 실시하였다. 취약한 유역들은 대부분 용수사용량이 많고 상수도 누수율이 높게 나타났다. 가중치 적용 방법에 따른 취약성은 일부 지역에서 차이를 보였으나, 전반적으로 북한강유역의 취약성이 가장 높았다. 본 연구 결과를 통하여 보다 신뢰도 높은 물이용 취약성 평가를 위해서는 다양한 가중치 방법론을 활용하는 것이 중요함을 확인할 수 있었다.

말기암환자의 여명 예측 요인, 혈중 렙틴 농도의 효과 (Prognostic Value of Leptin in Terminally Ill Cancer Patients)

  • 목적: 말기암환자의 여명 예측은 치료의 이득과 위해를 판단하는 잣대가 되고, 적절한 의료 중재 제공 및 환자의 자율성에 기초한 의사결정에 중요한 기준이 된다. 특히 많은 수의 말기암환자는 암성 식욕부진-악액질 증후군으로 사망에 이르기 때문에 본 연구에서는 이를 반영할 수 있는 혈장 렙틴 농도와 생존기간과의 연관성을 알아보고자 하였다. 방법: 2009년 7월부터 2010년 7월까지 13개월 동안, 만 20세 이상의 말기암환자 69명을 대상으로 혈장 렙틴 농도를 측정하고, 생존기간을 조사하였다. 나이, 성별, 원발암 부위, 암 치료 경력, 전이여부, 투약상황 및 활력증후, 백혈구 수, 혈색소, Aspartate aminotransferase (AST), Alanine aminotransferase (ALT), C-반응성 단백질, 총 빌리루빈, 총 콜레스테롤, 알부민, 렙틴 등의 혈액검사를 시행하였다. 결과: 혈장 렙틴 농도와 성별, 나이, 백혈구 수, 혈색소, AST, ALT, 총 빌리루빈, C-반응성 단백질, 통증강도 등의 상관 관계 분석 결과 렙틴과 생존기간에는 통계적으로 유의한 양의 상관 관계를 보였으며, 단변량 분석한 결과 혈장 렙틴 농도는 생존기간과 통계적으로 경계수준의 유의한 관계를 보였으나, 단변량 분석에서 생존 기간에 유의한 영향을 미치는 성별, 백혈구 수, AST, ALT, 총 빌리루빈, 알부민, C-반응성 단백질을 포함하여 시행한 다변량 분석에서 혈장 렙틴 농도는 생존기간과 통계적으로 유의한 관계가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 결론: 암성 식욕부진-악액질 증후군과 관련이 있는 혈장 렙틴 농도와 말기암환자의 생존기간과는 통계적으로 유의한 연관성을 보이지는 않았다. 그러나, 소화기계암환자에 있어서는 혈장 렙틴 농도가 생존기간 예측인자로서 쓰일 수 있는 가능성을 보여주었다.

치주인대섬유아세포가 파골세포분화에 미치는 영향 (Human Periodontal Ligament Fibroblasts Support the Osteoclastogenesis of RAW264.7 Cells)

  • The fibroblasts are the principal cells in the periodontal ligament of peridontium. As the periodontal ligament fibroblasts (PDLF) show similar phenotype with osteoblasts, the PDLF are thought to play an important role in alveolar bone remodeling. Cell-to-cell contacted signaling is crucial for osteoclast formation. Recently it has been reported that PDLJ enhance the bone resorbing activity of osteoclasts differentiated from hematopoietic preosteoclasts. The aims of this study were to $clarify\;^{1)}$ the mechanism of PDLF-induced osteoclastogenesis $and\;^{2)}$ whether we can use preosteoclast cell line instead of primary hematopoietic preosteoclast cells for studying the mechanism of PDLF-induced osteoclastogenesis. Osteoclastic differentiation of mouse macrophage cell line RAW264.7 was compared with that of mouse bone marrow-derived M-CSF dependent cell (MDBM), a well-known hematopoietic preosteoclast model, by examining, 1) osteoclast-specific gene expression such as calcitonin receptor, M-CSF receptor (c-fms), cathepsin K, receptoractivator nuclear factor kappa B (RANK) ,2) generation of TRAP(+) multinucleated cells (MNCs), and 3) generation of resorption pit on the $OAAS^{TM}$ plate. RAW264.7 cultured in the medium containing of soluble osteoclast differentiation Factor (sODF) showed similar phenotype with MDBM-derived osteoclasts, those are mRNA expression pattern of osteoclast-specific genes, TRAP(+) MNCs generation, and bone resorbing abivity. Formation of resorption pits by osteoclastic MNCs differentiated from sODF-treated RAW264.7, was completely blocked by the addition of osteoprotegerin (OPG), a soluble decoy receptor for ODF, to the sODF-containing culture me야um. The effects of PDLF on differentiation of RAW264.7 into the TRAP(+) multinucleated osteoclast-like cells were examined using coculture system. PDLF were fxed with paraformaldehyde, followed by coculture with RAW264.7, which induced formation of TRAP(+) MNCs in the absence of additional treatment of sODF. When compared with untreated and fixed PDLF (fPDLF), IL-1 ${\beta}$-treated, or lipopolysaccha-ride-treated and then fixed PDLF showed two-folld increase in the supporting activity of osteoclastogenesis from RAW264.7 coculture system. There were no TRAP(+) MNCs formation in coculture system of RAW264.7 with PDLF of no fixation. These findigs suggested that we can replace the primary hematopoietic preosteoclasts for RAW264. 7 cell line for studying the mechanism of PDLF-induced osteoclastogenesis, and we hypothesize that PDLF control osteoclastogenesis through ODF expression which might be enhanced by inflammatory signals.
