  • To reduce stress concentration around the intersection between a spherical pressure vessel and a cylindrical nozzle under various load conditions using less material, the optimization for the distribution of reinforcement has researched. The ranked bidirectional evolutionary structural optimization(R-BESO) method is developed recently, which adds elements based on a rank, and the performance indicator which can estimate a fully stressed model. The R-BESO method can obtain the optimum design using less iteration number than iteration number of the BESO. In this paper, the optimized intersection shape is sought using R-BESO method for a flush and a protruding nozzle. The considered load cases are a radial compression, torque and shear force.

  • The basic systems of spatial structures such as shells, membranes, cable-nets and tensegrity structures have been developed to create the large spaces without column. But there are some difficulties concerning structural stability, surface formation and construction method. Tensegrity systems are flexible structures which are reticulated spatial structures composed of compressive members and cables. The rigidification of tensegrity systems is related to selfstress states which can be achieved only when geometrical and mechanical requirements are simultaneously satisfied. In this paper, the force density method allowing form-finding for tensegrity systems is presented. And various modules of unit-structures are investigated and discussed using the force density method. Also, a model of double-layered single curvature arch with quadruplex using supplementary cable is presented.

  • This paper shows the method and result of calculating and comparing the country brand value. We define country brand value as one that is built by national competitiveness which contains material and human resources, psychological proximity which is createdfrom direct and indirect indices, and national brand strategy which means strategic efforts intended to enhance country brand value. By applying the model to 16 countries, rank and value of country brands were examined and implications for Korea were derived.

  • The importance of maritime sector in Korea has been increasingly recognized in recent days. As the country enters the $\ulcorner$new ocean era$\lrcorner$, the oceans are often regarded as holding the keys to solve the problems of modern industry associated with changing environment as well as changing societies and national politics. This paper attempts to address the national maritime R&D policies and their relative importances. In the methodology, Saaty's analytic hierarchy process model is used to evaluate and rank the selected maritime R&D projects which have a wide range of characteristics and policy implications. The criteria used for policy evaluation relates specifically to the Korea's evaluation needs and culture, and those criteria are weighted according to their relative importance as perceived by the maritime R&D specialists.

  • This paper aims to develope an algorithm to minimize the total production time, sum of group formation times and processing times, under the balanced workload among the machines by grouping parts with machine loading in FMS. The algorithm of this study is composed of four step procedures ; (1) Parts grouping by Group Technology(GT) (2) Minimizing total processing time in loading problem (3) Machine workload balancing, including above(2) (4) Group formation time, including above(3) For parts grouping, Rank Order Clustering(ROC) algorithm developed by King(1980) is used and this algorithm is programmed by using the MACRO functions of QUATTRO Pro, one of the spreadsheet packages. The structure for loading model is solved by using the Hyper-LINDO. As a case study, numerical examples are demonstrated to show the effectiveness of the proposed machine loading procedure.

  • We, in this paper, propose a kernel estimator of hazard ratio with censored survival data. The uniform consistency and asymptotic normality of the proposed estimator are proved by using counting process approach. In order to assess the performance of the proposed estimator, we compare the kernel estimator with Cox estimator and the generalized rank estimators of hazard ratio in terms of MSE by Monte Carlo simulation. Two examples are illustrated for our results.

  • Risk importance measures are widely wed to rank risk contributors in risk-based applications. Typically, Fussell-Vesely (F-V) importance and risk achievement worth (RAW) are used in the component importance raking for the reliability centered maintenance (RCM) analysis of safety system in nuclear power plants (NPPs). This study was performed as part of feasibility study on RCM for domestic NPPs, which is focused on the component importance ranking approach the maintenance recommendation. The approach of modulizing faulting tree basic events was applied in the simplification process of the PSA model and the validity of the approach was evaluated As a result of the case study, this paper included the importance and the maintenance recommendations for the safety-related equipments associated with safety injection and containment spray in large loss of coolant accident sequences.

  • The evolutionary structural optimization(ESO) method has been under continuous development since 1992. The bidirectional evolutionary structural optimization(BESO) method is made of additive and removal procedure. The BESO method is very useful to search the global optimum and to reduce the computational time. This paper presents the ranked bidirectional evolutionary structural optimization(R-BESO) method which adds elements based on a rank, and the performance indicator which can estimate a fully stressed model. The R-BESO method can obtain the optimum design using less iteration number than iteration number of the BESO.

  • The Internet is changing old organizational schemes, including education. A growing number of universities are creating curriculums to reflect these changes. Economic market is being opened to the international world, and in order to overcome the difficulties are demanding continuous supply of men power from university to efficiently manage human resource and implement superior e-business model. Technology innovation plays an important role in the sustainable grows of the firm in the global economy. The objective of this study is to suggest an e-business curriculum for e-business department. We will analyze what kind of people is needed for e-business, and provide appropriate curriculum for educating suitable human resources, which could be for university program. This study may contribute to the much needed systematic analysis for e-business curriculum. We prioritize e-business curriculum selected and rank their importance through an exploratory study for suggesting the undergraduate curriculum.
