  • A new set of capillary tube selection charts for R-22 is proposed. The set of charts takes into account of the roughness effect on the mass flow rate. For this purpose, a set of numerical model is developed and a series of experiments is conducted to verify the numerical model. A numerical model is used to calculated the mass flow rate for several sets of tube diameter, length, inlet pressures and degree of subcooling. The outlet of the tube is controlled to be at critical condition. The experimental flow rate is compared with calculated values. The calculated values are consistently less than the experimental ones except for the flow rate range below 40kg/hr. The deviation is within 10---. Based on the nunmerical model and results of experiments, the set of capillary tube selection charts for R-22 is constructed. The set of charts consists of standard capillary tube chart(L=2030mm, d=1.63mm, ${\varepsilon}=2.5{\mu}m$), non -standard flow factor(${\phi}_1$) chart, and non-standard roughness factor(${\phi}_2$) chart. The mass flow rate, flow factor, and the roughness factor are defined respectively as; $\dot{m}={\phi}_1{\phi}_2\dot{m}_{standard}\\{\phi}_1=\frac{\dot{m}(L,\;d,\;\varepsilon_{standard})}{\dot{m}_{standard}(L_{standard},\;d_{standard},\;{\varepsilon}_{standard})}\\{\phi}_2=\frac{\dot{m}(L_{standard},\;d_{standard},\;{\varepsilon})}{\dot{m}_{standard}(L_{standard},\;d_{standard},\;{\varepsilon}_{standard})}$.

  • An open-spandrel arch bridges, which consists of slab deck, arch rib, and vertical members, shows a various level of moment and axial forces according to the supporting boundary condition of arch rib and vehicle speeds. Also, the definition of impact factor accepts any kind of response parameters, not only displacement response at slab deck. The present study considers concrete open-spandrel arch bridges constrained with fixed conditions at the ends of arch rib and investigates the impact factor variation due to moving load speeds, response parameters, measuring locations, and vertical member spacing ratio of the bridges. The results of Reference model show that the impact factor is biggest when the reactive moment resulted at the vehicle-inducing opposite end of the arch rib is applied. The peak impact factor is a similar level obtained for the middle of the span adjacent to the slab deck center, but it is 19% higher than the peak impact factor calculated using the axial force developed at the same location. Reducing the spacing ratio of the vertical members as half as the reference model whose ratio is 1/9.375 produces a similar level of the moment-based peak impact factor compared to the reference model. However, when the spacing ratio is doubled, the peak impact factor is 4.4 times greater than the reference model.

  • The main causes of traffic accidents can be classified by 3 factors - human error, vehicle deficiency and road environmental problem and most accidents occurs not only 1 factor but combination of 2 or 3-factors. Among these factors, road environmental factor is the most important factor due to influence the behavior of cars and road users and road environmental factor affects 30% of total accidents approximately. The 5 years traffic accidents data analyzed to verify the accidents severity on Korea National Highways. In order to analyze the severity, Ordered Probit Model was used. As a independent variables of this model the number of lane, neighbor road environments, sight distance, vertical grade, lane width, shoulder width and traffic volume were used and as a dependent variables the minor injuries, serious injuries and fatalities were used. Research results shows that sight distance and lane width are identified as significant factors for the traffic accident severity and lesser sight distance and lane width shows greater traffic accident severity.

  • The theoretical process model was used to study problem behavior of children growing up at-risk. A sample of 339 children living in at-risk families were selected from among 2, 134 children in grades 4, 5, and 6 of five elementary schools in Seoul. The instruments were five risk factor scales and four protective factor scales. The Child Behavior Checklist was also used. The results of the hypothetical model of children at-risk showed that the factor of socioeconomic status led to positive child rearing attitudes in mothers, which is turn influenced children's problem behavior indirectly. In contrast, stressful life events and mother's depression influenced children's problem behavior directly. However, negative family functioning, marital discord and father's depression did not influence mother's child rearing attitudes or children's problem behavior. Mother's child rearing attitudes directly influenced children's social competence and academic achievement and indirectly influenced their problem behavior. Academic achievement did not influence problem behavior directly, but social competence influenced it directly. Mother's child rearing attitude was the most significant factor affecting children's adaptation.

  • The insulin-like growth factor-I(IGF-I) is an important metabolic factor involved in cell growth and metabolism. Although secretion of IGF-I in rat liver is regulated by growth hormone, the effects of forskolin, adenylate cyclase activator, on secretion of IGF-I have not been reported. Therefore, a modified perfused rat liver model was used to investigate the regulatory effects of forskolin on IGF-I secretion in this experiment. The results were summerized as follows : 1. Modified perfused rat liver model was not changed to aspartate aminotransferase(AST), alanine aminotransferase(ALT) and lactic dehydrogenase(LDH) secretion in time. 2. The IGF-I secretion in hepatic cell was increased by forskolin($10^{-5}$, $10^{-6}$ and $10^{-7}M$) in a dose-dependent manner as compared with those of the controls, and significantly increased by $10^{-5}$ and $10^{-6}$ forskolin(p < 0.05). 3. Secretion of glucose in hepatic cell significantly was decreased by $10^{-5}$ forskolin as compared with those of controls(p < 0.05). These results suggest that forskolin may be involved in the regulation of IGF-I secretion in the perfused rat liver.

  • In this paper a new truss modeling technique for describing the beam shear resistance mechanism is proposed based on the reinterpretation of the well-known relationship between shear and the rate of change of bending moment in a reinforced concrete beam subjected to combined shear and moment loads. The core of the model is that a new perspective on the shear resistance can be gained by viewing the internal stress filed in terms of the superposition of two base components of shear resistance; arch action and beam action. The arch action can be described as a simple tied-arch which is consisted of a curved compression chord and a tension tie of the longitudinal steel, while the beam action between the two chords can be modeled as a membrane shearing element with forming a smeared truss action. The compatibility of deformation associated to the two action is taken into account by employing an experimental factor or internal state force factor a. Then the base equation of V=dM/dx is numerically duplicated. The new model was examined by the 362 experimental results. The shear strength predicted by the internal force state factor a show better correlation with the tested values than the present shear design.

  • Fast fashion brand marketers should develop marketing strategies that effectively satisfy the values consumers seek when purchasing fast fashion brands. This study aimed to identify the consumption value factors of fast fashion brands and to reveal the value factors that influence attitudes toward purchasing fast fashion brands. Data were gathered by surveying university students in the Seoul metropolitan area using convenience sampling. Three hundred and five questionnaires were used in the statistical analysis, which consisted of exploratory factor analysis using SPSS and confirmatory factor analysis and path analysis using AMOS. The factor analysis revealed the following six value factors: Emotional value, social value, price/value for money, durability value, eco-value, and consistency value. The fit statistic for the six-factor model was quite acceptable. Two of the six value factors, emotional value and price/value for money, positively influenced attitudes toward purchasing fast fashion brands. The overall fits of the revealed model suggested that the model fit the data well. The results suggested that fast fashion marketers need to understand the value factors that motivate consumers to purchase fast fashion brands. In addition, marketers should focus their efforts on satisfying emotional value and price/value for money in order to establish their brands in the increasingly competitive fast fashion industry.

  • Capillary tubes are widely used as expansion device in small refrigeration systems. The refrigerant flowing in the capillary tube experiences frictional and accelerational head losses, and flashing, simultaneously. In this paper flow characteristics of adiabatic capillary tubes with various friction factor models, two-phase viscosity models, and two-phase frictional multiplier models were simulated. The predicted pressure distribution, mass flow rate are compared with experimental data reported in literature. It is confirmed that the predicting accuracy with homogeneous model can be improved by employing the suitable correlations of friction factor and two-phase viscosity model, and two-phase frictional multiplier.

  • This paper presents a study on the power factor improvement of the Wind turbine Generation System(WTGS) at Haeng-won wind farm in Jeju Island. Vestas WTGS named V47 as a model system is selected in this paper, and has 660 kW Power ratings. In this system, power factor correction is controlled by the conventional method with power condenor bank. So, model system at Haeng-won wind farm has very low power factor in the area of low wind speed, which is from 4 m/s to 6 m/s. This is caused by the power factor correction using power condenser bank To improve the power factor in the area of low wind speed, we used the static var compensator(SVC) using current controlled PWM power converter by IGBT switching device. finally, to verify the profosed method, the results of computer simulation using Psim program are presented to support the discussion.
