Application of Nonlocal Anisotropic Damage Model for the Reinforced Concrete Structures (철근콘크리트 구조물에 대한 비국소 이방성 손상모델의 적용)

  • This paper proposed a nonlocal anisotropic damage model to simulate the behavior of plain and reinforced concrete structures that are predominantly tensile and compressive load. This model based on continuum damage mechanics, used a symmetric second-order tensor as the damage variable. For quasi-brittle materials, such as concrete, the damage patterns were different in tension and in compression. These two damage states were modeled by damage evolution laws ensuring a damage tensor rate proportional to the total strain tensor in terms of principal components. To investigate the effectiveness of proposed model, the double edge notched specimen experimented by nooru-mohamed and reinforced concrete bending beam were analyzed using the implementation of the proposed model. As the results for the simulation, the nonlocal anisotropic damage model with an adequate control of rupture correctly represented the crack propagation for mixed mode fracture. In the structural failure of reinforced concrete bending beam, the proposed model can be showed up to a very high damage level and yielding of the reinforcements.

  • $KTP(KTiOPO_4)$ single crystals have been hydrothermally grown in KOH solutions. Properties and Raman spectra of grown crystal were investigated. The most effective solvents for the crystal growth of KTP were KOH and KF solutions. In this study, the properties of KTP single crystals grown hydrothermally at $500^{\circ}C$ in 9 m KOH solution were measured. The following results were obtained : lattice parameters ; a=1.281 nm and c=1.058 nm, density ; $2.94 g/cm^3$, Vickers hardness ; $562kg/cm^2$, refractive indices ; $n_e=1.740$ and $n_e= 1.747.$ And Raman spectra of hydrothermal growth KTP single crystal have been investigated at room temperature under atmospheric pressure. As a result, the $A_1$ modes agree very well with KTP single crystal of high temperatures solution growth but the behavior of $B_2$ modes were slightly different.

Evaluation of Failure Mode in Concrete Beam Restrengthened with GFRP with Various Initial Conditions (GFRP로 보강된 다양한 초기 조건의 콘크리트보의 파괴 거동 평가)

  • Various failure modes occur in the concrete beams reinforced with GFRP(Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic) under initial condition and repairing patterns. In this study, the failure behaviors of concrete beams restrengthened with GFRP sheet with slightly higher elastic modulus than concrete were investigated. For the tests, concrete beams with 24 MPa were manufactured, and the effects of initial notch, overlapping, end-strip reinforcement, and fiber anchors were analyzed on failure load. The cases of GFRP overlap around notch and the initial notch showed increasing failure loads similar to those of normal restrengthened case since the epoxy of the saturated GFRP sufficiently repaired the notch area. Compared to the control case without restrengthening of GFRP, the concrete with initial notch showed 0.78 of loading ratio and normal restrengthening showed 4.43~5.61 times of increasing ratio of failure loading, where interface-debonding from flexural crack were mainly observed. The most ideal failure behavior, break of GFRP, was observed when end-strip over 1/3 height from bottom and fiber anchor were installed, which showed increasing failure load over 150 % to normal restrengthening.

The Nature of Nursing and Life Style of Nurses (간호의 본질과 간호사의 삶의 양식)

  • The purpose of this study was to describe the nature of nursing and life style of nurses. This study was conducted from march, 1994 to May, 1995. There are two kinds of data used in this research. To discern the nature of nursing and life style of nurses, 34 articles selected from nursing journals and text books, and the data which were collected by unstructured questionare with two main open ended questions were analyzed using Strauss and Corbin's method. The questions were "what is nature of nursing?" "When do you feel your professionl life worth?" 29 participants were nurses working at two university hospitals and two general hospitals in Seoul, understood the study purpose. The results were as follows : (1) The nursing is evolving phenomenon which is developed, and changed. (1) ${\lceil}$encounter${\rfloor}$ ${\lceil}$trust${\rfloor}$ ${\lceil}$interrelationship${\rfloor}$have been identified as the causal condition of nursing phenomenon. (2) ${\lceil}$concern${\rfloor}$has been identified as the central phenomenon of nursing. (3) ${\lceil}$humanity${\rfloor}$ ${\lceil}$sincerity${\rfloor}$ ${\lceil}$nursing spirit${\rfloor}$ ${\lceil}$empathy${\rfloor}$ ${\lceil}$understanding${\rfloor}$have been identified as intervening condition and context of nursing phenomenon. (4) ${\lceil}$helping behavior${\rfloor}$has been identified as action/strategy of nursing phenomenon. (5) ${\lceil}$caring${\rfloor}$ ${\lceil}$observation${\rfloor}$ ${\lceil}$comfort${\rfloor}$ ${\lceil}$problem solving${\rfloor}$ ${\lceil}$co-ordination${\rfloor}$ ${\lceil}$education${\rfloor}$ ${\lceil}$stimulus${\rfloor}$have been as helping behavior. (6) ${\lceil}$change${\rfloor}$ ${\lceil}$growth and development${\rfloor}$ ${\lceil}$to do by oneself${\rfloor}$ have been as consequences of nursing phenomenon. (2) the nature of nursing have been classified into five properties ; ${\lceil}$relational property${\rfloor}$ ${\lceil}$moral property${\rfloor}$ ${\lceil}$technological property${\rfloor}$ ${\lceil}$behavioral property${\rfloor}$ ${\lceil}$objective property${\rfloor}$ (3) The life style of nurses is not considered as ${\lceil}$to have${\rfloor}$ living mode, but ${\lceil}$to be${\rfloor}$ living mode because the professional life of nurses is chracterized by ${\lceil}$encounter${\rfloor}$ ${\lceil}$trust${\rfloor}$ ${\lceil}$humanity${\rfloor}$ ${\lceil}$understanding${\rfloor}$ ${\lceil}$concern${\rfloor}$ ${\lceil}$togetherness with human being${\rfloor}$ ${\lceil}$growth and development${\rfloor}$ and others, which are properties of the nature of nursing, and are also considered as esential factors of real existence of professional nurse as a human being in nursing situation.

A Comparative Study on the Travel Behavior of Residents by Housing Types and Implication Deduction for TOD Implementation (TOD구현을 위한 주택유형별 거주자의 통행행태 비교 분석 및 시사점도출)

  • Recently, urban and transportation planning for Transit Oriented Development(TOD) has become a major issue. For the effective policy implementation of TOD, it is important to understand the travel behavior of residents in housing areas. In this study, we compared the travel behaviors of residents by housing types based on 'the 2010 Household Travel Survey Data' focusing on metropolitan areas. By building an estimation model for subway trip frequency by housing types, it was identified that the factors influencing subway trips and ultimately suggested implications to increase the use of the subway. The highest share of bus mode was for detached house residents with 22.8%, whereas the share of subway mode was highest by efficiency apartment residents with 17.5%. Walking distance to the subway from efficiency apartment and row house were verified as 661meters and 749meters. As the residents of each housing type have more cars and bicycles, their subway trips were decreased. It was also found that subway trips were increased when the population density of residence was high with good accessibility to subway stations and poor accessibility to bus service. In this study, the statistical findings to differentiate the planning factors of public transportation by housing types were also provided. The results of this study would be used for urban design considering the travel behaviors of residents by housing types and can also be utilized for promoting the patronage of public transportation. Some limitations and a future research agenda have also been discussed.

Urban Accessibility Index for Evaluation of Sustainability in Urban Transport System (도시 교통체계의 지속가능성 평가를 위한 도시 접근성 지표)

  • Accessibility is the generalized definition on how ease of access. Accessibility is used to appraise transportation project such as capturing the quality of the existing state of the transportation system at diverse spatial levels, It also reflects on the effect of improvements to the existing travel modes and the intoduction of new modes. The overall goal of this study is to propose a measure of urban accessibility in Seoul which can analyze various behavior of travelers in the city and to present applications. In this study, we apply measures of accessibility which are developed by CTR(The Center for Transportation Research, the University of Texas at Austin) to construct the urban accessibility index applicable for explaining trip behavior in Seoul. We evaluate sustainability of urban transport system in Seoul in 2002 by using the MAG(Modal Accessibility GaP) index which is developed to measure the accessibility gap between the more energy-efficient mode and less energy-efficient mode of transport. By analyzing the change of MAG index between 2002 and 2004 based on network data, we show how the public transportation system reform affect the sustainability in transport system.

A Study on the Flexural Fatigue Behavior of R/C Beams Repaired with Concrete-Polymer Composites (유기 및 유기재료로 보수된 R/C 보의 휨 피로거동에 관한 연구)

  • In this thesis, the fatigue tests were performed on a series of R /C beams repaired with co& crete-lmlyrner composites to investigate the fatigue bahavior. The three point loading system is used in the fatigue tests. In these tests, relations between the repeated loading cycles and mid-span deflections, number of repeated loading cycles when repaired beams were fractured, the bonding performance of repair materials were observed. On this basis, the mid-span deflections, the crack growth and failure mode of repaired R /C beams were studied. A S-N curve was drawn to present the fatigue strength of repaired beams. From the test results, it was shown that behavior of R /C beams repaired with polymer-cement series were very sirnillar to control beam about bonding performance, mid-span deflections and fatigue strength according to S-N curve drawn by the regression anlysis on the fatigue test results.

Prediction of Structural Behavior of FRP Rebar Reinforced Concrete Slab based on the Definition of Limit State (한계상태 정의에 따른 FRP Rebar 보강 콘크리트 슬래브의 구조거동 예측)

  • The failure mode of concrete reinforced with FRP is defined as the concrete crushing and the fiber rupture and the definition of limit state is a slightly different according to the design methods. It is relatively difficult to predict of FRP reinforced concrete because the mechanical properties of fibers are quite depending on its of fibers. The design code by ACI440 committee, which has been developed mainly on GFRP having low modulus of elasticity, is widely used, but the applicability on other FRPs of this code has not been sufficiently verified. In addition, the ultimate and serviceability limit state based on the ACI440 are comparatively difficult to predict the behavior of member with the 0.8~1.2 𝜌b because crushing and rupturing failure can be occurred simultaneously is in this region of reinforcement ratio, and predicted deflection is too sensitive according to the loading condition. Therefore, in this study, reliability and convenience of the prediction of structural performance by design methods such as ACI440 and MC90 concept, respectively, were examined through the experimental results and literature review of the beam and slab with the reinforcement ratio of 0.8 ~ 1.4. As a result of the analysis, it can be applied to the FRP reinforced structure in the case of the simple moment-curvature formula (LIM-MC) of Model Code, and the limit state design method based on the EC2 is more reliable than the ultimate strength design method.

An Experimental Study for Failure Behavior of Composite Beams with DFRCC and FRP Plank with Rib (리브를 갖는 FRP 판과 고인성섬유보강콘크리트로 이루어진 합성보의 파괴거동에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • DFRCC (ductile fiber reinforced cementitious composites), which are a significantly improved ductile material compared to conventional concrete, were evaluated as a new construction material with a high potential applications to concrete structures for a range of purposes. In this study, experiments on the failure behavior of composite beams with a DFRCC and FRP (fiber reinforced polymer) plank with a rib used as permanent formwork and tensile reinforcement were carried out. A normal concrete and a fiber reinforced concrete with PVA series of RF4000 and the PP series of PP-macro were used for comparison, and each RF4000+RSC15 and PP-macro+RSC15 was tested by producing composite beams. The experimental results of the FRP plank without a sand coating showed that sliding failure mode between the FRP plank and concrete started from a flexural crack at the beam center; therefore it is necessary for the FRP plank to be coated with sand and the effect of the fiber to failure mode did not appear to be huge. The experiment of the FRP plank with a sand coating showed that both 1200mm and 2000mm allowed sufficient bonding between the concrete and FRP plank. The maximum load of the fiber reinforced concrete was higher than that of normal concrete and the case which a series of PP fiber was mixed showed the highest value. The crack latency caused by the fibers led to composite action with a FRP rib.

Mechanical and fracture behavior of rock mass with parallel concentrated joints with different dip angle and number based on PFC simulation

  • Rock mass is an important engineering material. In hydropower engineering, rock mass of bank slope controlled the stability of an arch dam. However, mechanical characteristics of the rock mass are not only affected by lithology, but also joints. On the basis of field geological survey, this paper built rock mass material containing parallel concentrated joints with different dip angle, different number under different stress conditions by PFC (Particle Flow Code) numerical simulation. Next, we analyzed mechanical property and fracture features of this rock mass. The following achievements have been obtained through this research. (1) When dip angle of joints is $15^{\circ}$ and $30^{\circ}$, with the increase of joints number, peak strength of rock mass has not changed much. But when dip angle increase to $45^{\circ}$, especially increase to $60^{\circ}$ and $75^{\circ}$, peak strength of rock mass decreased obviously with the increase of joints number. (2) With the increase of confining stress, peak strengths of all rock mass have different degree of improvement, especially the rock mass with dip angle of $75^{\circ}$. (3) Under the condition of no confining stress, dip angle of joints is low and joint number is small, existence of joints has little influence on fracture mode of rock mass, but when joints number increase to 5, tensile deformation firstly happened at joints zone and further resulted in tension fracture of the whole rock mass. When dip angle of joints increases to $45^{\circ}$, fracture presented as shear along joints, and with increase of joints number, strength of rock mass is weakened caused by shear-tension fracture zone along joints. When dip angle of joints increases to $60^{\circ}$ and $75^{\circ}$, deformation and fracture model presented as tension fracture zone along concentrated joints. (4) Influence of increase of confining stress on fracture modes is to weaken joints' control function and to reduce the width of fracture zone. Furthermore, increase of confining stress translated deformation mode from tension to shear.
