Distance-based Routing Mechanism in Mobile Sensor Networks (모바일 센서 네트워크에서 거리 기반 경로배정 메커니즘)

  • Mobility of the sensor networks proposed a new way to the efficient design of sensor networks and improvement of network system performance. Mobility results in a number of functional changes in the MAC protocol and routing protocol. Especially, the mobility of the nodes may occur the increase of the overhead of transmission or disconnection of the link. Therefore, the study of the energy efficient transmission is very important in mobile sensor networks. This paper proposed adaptive transmission mechanism on the distance-based power control. The proposed mechanism was analyzed better than conventional method in the average energy consumption and network life by simulation results.

  • Internet phone (VoIP) services in Korea have achieved noticeable growth year after year since the service launching, and the growth still coninues. The market of mobile internet phone also expands sharply. Therefore, it is crucial to deploy networks which can support mobile internet phone services with excellent quality. For mobile internet phone services, it will be necessary to build and use networks with good mobility and high transmission rate. Current wireless networks for Internet services include 3G, Wi-Fi, and mobile WiMAX networks. 3G provides good mobility but lower transmission rate, whereas Wi-Fi exhibits excellent transmission rate but less mobility. Mobile WiMAX networks taking the merits of both, high mobility and transmission rate, are being deployed widely in recent years. This article examines the recent standardization efforts of WiMAX Forum for VoIP service in WiMAX networks.

Adaptive Reversal Tree Protocol with Optimal Path for Dynamic Sensor Networks

  • In sensor networks, it is crucial to reliably and energy-efficiently deliver sensed information from each source to a sink node. Specifically, in mobile sink (user) applications, due to the sink mobility, a stationary dissemination path may no longer be effective. The path will have to be continuously reconfigured according to the current location of the sink. Moreover, the dynamic optimal path from each source to the sink is required in order to reduce end-to-end delay and additional energy wastage. In this paper, an Adaptive Reversal Optimal path Tree (AROT) protocol is proposed. Information delivery from each source to a mobile sink can be easily achieved along the AROT without additional control overhead, because the AROT proactively performs adaptive sink mobility management. In addition, the dynamic path is optimal in terms of hop counts and the AROT can maintain a robust tree structure by quickly recovering the partitioned tree with minimum packet transmission. Finally, the simulation results demonstrate that the AROT is a considerably energy-efficient and robust protocol.

  • This paper presents a fast IP mobility management scheme in vehicular networks where multiple wireless network interfaces are used to perform the fast handover without packet loss and handover latency. In order to do that, the IETF standard HMIPv6 has been extended, where multiple simultaneous tunnels between the HMIPv6 MAP and the mobile gateway are dynamically constructed. The architecture for supporting multiple tunnels has been designed and both mathematical analysis and simulation using NS-2 have been done for performance evaluation.

  • Mobile IP has several inefficiencies, and was not originally designed for situations where both peers are highly mobile. We present a mobility management solution that retains compatibility with existing Internet protocols, whilst increasing the efficiency of communications between two GPRS mobile hosts. Our proposal eradicates triangle routing and minimizes handover latency. We show by numerical analysis that the routing optimization improves the performance of TCP controlled data flows, reducing buffering requirements and minimizing the recovery time after a handover occurs.

  • Proxy Mobile IP in IETF is a network-based mobility management scheme to solve the problem of host-based mobility management scheme, Mobile IP. PMIP shows the better performance in the aspect of mobility, but PMIP, as a legacy of Mobile IP based on "best effort service", lacks of consideration of QoS. In this thesis, a novel mobility support scheme is proposed for mobility and QoS support based on PMIP in MPLS networks.

  • LBS is service technique to provide several service which are required to user by user's location information for mobile. This paper presents Auto_Test system of testing the mobility performance of mobile clients in wireless mobile networks. In spite of importance of mobility management, currently the study of mobility management is not enough, therefore we have developed modulated Auto_Test management system for resolve the mobility management. The proposed system is composed of distance-based monitoring, location-based monitoring, scenario management, mobility management and statistic management, it makes the control by individual module. Simulation results show that the proposed system outperforms the existing systems.

  • This paper proposes mobility management schemes providing Internet session continuity to moving vehicles in the V2I (Vehicle-to-Infrastructure) environment of the vehicular communication networks. Since PMIPv6 is localized mobility management protocol, PMIPv6 can not be directly applied to the vehicular communication network requiring global mobility coverage. Therefore, in this paper, we derive two scenarios of applying PMIPv6 to vehicular communication network environment and propose PMIPv6-based global mobility management schemes for those scenarios. Through simulations, we show that the proposed schemes can significantly decrease the Internet service discontinuity.

Analytical Approach of New Random-walk Based Mobility Management Scheme in IP-based Mobile Networks

  • In next-generation wireless networks, provisioning of IP-based network architecture and seamless transmission services are very important issues for mobile nodes. For this reason, a mobility management mechanism to support global roaming is highly regarded. These technologies bring a broader life by using a global roaming account through the connection of multiple devices or technology to mobile users; they also provide real-time multimedia services. This paper presents a comprehensive performance analysis of fast handover for hierarchical mobile IPv6 (F-HMIPv6), hierarchical mobile IPv6 (HMIPv6), Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6), and fast Proxy Mobile IPv6 (FPMIPv6) using the fluid-flow model and random-walk model. As a result, the location update cost of the PMIPv6 and FPMIPv6 is better than that of HMIPv6 and F-HMIPv6. These results suggest that the network-based mobility management technology is superior to the hierarchical mobility management technology in the mobility environment.

  • Vehicular communication networking is one of the most important building blocks of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). The vehicular communication network is a wireless communication system enabling vehicles to communicate with each other as well as with roadside base stations. Mobility management of vehicles which move at high speeds and occasionally make a long journey is an interesting research area of vehicular communication networks. Recently, The Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) protocol is proposed for network-based mobility management to reduce the overhead of mobile nodes. PMIPv6 shifts the burden of the mobility management from mobile nodes to network agents to decrease the overhead and latency for the mobility management. In this paper, we derive the scenario of deploying PMIPv6 in vehicular communication networks and propose a new LMA handover mechanism for realizing the scenario. By carrying out the ns-2 based simulations, we verify the operability of the proposed mechanism.
