As the number of mobile telephone users increases, technologies fur increasing quality of services between a mobile terminal and the base station transceiver system become more important than ever. The important criteria of quality of service includes minimum interference of base station, the success rate of network access and portability between different mobile companies. Among many factors, the successful rate of network connection between a mobile terminal and the base station is the most important. In this paper, we introduce an analysis system of mobile terminals using RS-232C communication after considering such environments. This application software simulates the communicational signals between and mobile terminals and the base station and shows the results through the graphs. Using this system, the task about testing communication performance of mobile terminals will be easy since it helps to analyze the status of communication.
Dynamic Handoff Control Scheme (DHCS), which is propose d in this paper, suggests the method to request handoff at the optimal time. To accomplish this, DHCS measures the speed of the mobile station and sets the pilot strength for handoff request. When the pilot strength of the current base station is bigg or than the pilot strength for handoff request, which means the pilot strength of the current base station is big enough so the possibility of the call to be disconnected is low, DHCS doesn't request for the handoff even though the pilot strength of the adjacent base station is bigger than the pilot strength of the curent base station. DHCS guarantees the QoS (Quality of Service) by processing the handoff calls prior to new calls at the base station and providing continuous service for the mobile station by setting the priorities for the calls according to the queue waiting time transmitted from the mobile stations.

To prevent performance degradation of TCP due to packet losses in the smooth handoff by the route optimization extension of Mobile IP protocol, a buffering of packets at a base station is needed. A buffering of packets at a base station recovers those packets dropped during handoff by forwarding buffered packets at the old base station to the mobile user. But, when the mobile user moves to a congested base station in a new foreign subnetwork, those buffered packets forwarded by the old base station are dropped and TCP transmission performance of a mobile user in the congested base station degrades due to increased congestion by those forwarded burst packets. In this paper, considering the general case that a mobile user moves to a congested base station, we propose a Priority Packet Forwarding to improve TCP performance in mobile networks. In the proposed scheme, without modification to Mobile IP protocol, the old base station marks a buffered packet as a priority packet during handoff. And priority queue at the new congested base station schedules the priority packet firstly. Simulation results show that proposed Priority Packet Forwarding can improve TCP transmission performance more than Implicit Priority Packet Forwarding and RED (Random Early Detection) schemes.

In this paper, a CSSMA/AI MAC protocol in packet CDMA network is presented. The main features of this protocol are the code status sensing and reservation for reducing the packet collision. The base station broadcasts the code status on a frame-by-frame basis just before the beginning of each preamble transmission, and the mobile station transmits a preamble for reserving a code based on the received code status. After having transmitted the preamble, the mobile station listens to the downlink of the selected code and waits the base station reply. If this reply indicates that the code has been correctly acquired, it continues the packet transmission for the rest of the frame. If there are other packets waiting for transmission, the base station broadcasts the status of the code as reserved, and the mobile station transmits a packet on a reserved code for the successive frames.

This paper explains the impact of frequency error on the performance of WCDMA mobile communication systems and what brings about the frequency error between the base station and the mobile station, and then presents automatic frequency error correction method in mobile receiver. On the basis of system requirement related to frequency stability, the integration test between the base station and the mobile station was accomplished. After applying automatic frequency error correction to mobile receiver, 4 Hz of frequency error at transmitting frequency was obtained. The result met frequency error requirement of ${\pm}$0.1 ppm(about ${\pm}$200 ㎐). Performance degradation due to frequency error was measured by means of Error Vector Magnitude(EVM) at transmitter and Ec/Io at receiver, respectively and then the interface requirement between Modem control signal and RF was suggested to improve the correctness of frequency error control.
Abstract Mobile communication is more vulnerable to security attacks such as interception and unauthorized access than fixed network communication. To overcome these problems, many protocols have been proposed to provide a secure channel between a mobile station and a base station. However, these public-key based protocols have not been fully utilized due to the poor computing power and small battery capacity of mobile stations. In this paper, we propose techniques for accelerating public-key based key establishment protocols between a mobile station and a base station. The proposed techniques enable a mobile station to borrow computing power from a base station without revealing its secret information. The proposed schemes accelerate the previous protocols up to five times and reduce the amount of power consumption of mobile stations.

In this paper, we consider a cumulative distribution function (CDF)-based opportunistic scheduling for downlink transmission in a cellular network consisting of a base station and multiple mobile stations. We present a closed-form formula for the average starvation period of each mobile station (i.e., the length of the time interval between two successive scheduling points of a mobile station) over Markov time-varying channels. Based on our formula, we investigate the starvation period of the CDF-based scheduling for various system parameters.

This paper proposes a DGPS (Differential GPS) mobile reference station. The proposed systems can provide user with real-time correction data when the internet connention is possible. Since the GPS receiver part and network hardware are designed in a module, it can be easily moved and fixed. In order to verify the proposed system, several tersts have been carried out and the test results show the validity of the proposed system.

We implemented a code searcher which is used for the PN(pseudo noise) code acquisition in CDMA cellular mobile station. To reduce the reuired hardware and the code acquisition time, we used the double dwell structure which is an effective serial code acquisition metho. We designed a code acquisition has acquired within 1/2 PN chip range. The code searcher is implemented using 0.8 micron code searcher is successfully working in CDMA cellular mobile station and it satisfies the code acquisition time specified in IS-95 standard.
A small dual-polarized base station antenna with a simple isolation patch is presented. A high isolation is achieved when using a shorted metallic isolation patch. The experimental results indicate that the measured impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna is 1.72 GHz to 1.89 GHz for small cell systems and that the isolation is more than 30 dB. The proposed antenna exhibits good radiation patterns with a peak gain of 8 dBi.
