There are two approaches to construct mobile GIS, Vector and Raster methods, according to the map data transformation format from server to mobile client. Each method requires a different implementation architecture of server and client modules for mobile map services. And each have advantages and disadvantages at the different aspects. This thesis implements these two approaches, thus, compares the each merits, by experiments. They include the transmission performance, map quality, and so on.

The existing note on mobile can store only text data and cannot share the data, which means that the notes stored on mobile are just seasonal or temporary memo. Therefore, this research designs an improved note on mobile and gives a chance for sharing by importing a concept of Mindmap and backup server through the internet. The mobile application is developed based on Android Platform and the server applications are developed based on Linux. These can communicate each other throughout the internet to upload and download some mindmap data.

As the mobile devices and the wireless networks have high-performance capabilities, it is possible to synchronize the spatio-temporal data of a server with the spatio-temporal data of a mobile device which are collected at a field. However, since the server process the synchronization which the model device requests, the whole synchronizations of mass mobile devices take long time. In this paper, we propose the scheme to process concurrently the synchronizations of mobile devices to use multi-queue which does not conflict.
A default server strategy is a very popular scheme for managing location and state information of mobile hosts in cellular networks. But the communication cost increases if the call requests are frequent and the distant between the default server and the client is long. Still more any connection to a mobile host cannot be established when the default server of the destination mobile host fails. These problems can be solved by replicating default server and by letting nearest replicated default server process the query request which is sent from a client. It is important to allocate replicated default servers efficiently in networks and determine the number of replicated default servers. In this paper, we suggest and evaluate a default server replication strategy to reduce communication costs and to improve service availabilities. Furthermore we propose and evaluate an optimized allocation algorithm and an optimal replication degree for replicating: dofault servers in nn grid networks and binary tree networks.

The Growth in wireless Internet has made Networking possible at anytime and anywhere. So mobile devices like cellular phone and PDA are now used in various fields. In particular, the mobility of mobile devices has a great advantage in remote control. This paper designed and implemented a Mobile VNC system that transmitted the screen image of a remote computer, control the remote computer GU and monitor all by cellular phone. The proposed system consists of a Mobile Viewer un on the cellular phone, VNC Server m on a number of remote computers and a VNC Monitor. For communication between the VNC Server and the Mobile Viewer the MRFB protocol is used. The screen image transmitted to the Mobile Viewer is encoded in the PNG format supported by SK-VM, the Java execution environment of the Cellular phone. According to implementation results, the image is about $2KB\~8KB$. According to the 65 times transmission test, the average frame per second is 4.93fps in the emulator and a real cellular phone takes 0.8fps. Therefore, the proposed system is more efficient than existing systems.

In this paper, a DS (Data Synchronization) server for mobile communication environments is constructed and the suitability and the performance of its operations are validated. The DS server provides a way to update the newest data and keep data consistency for clients (mobile devices). In addition, the DS server constructed in this paper supports various synchronization types, and detects all changes and conflicts. In case of data conflicts, the DS server resolves the conflicts according to the several policies implemented in this work. The DS server conforms to the OMA(Open Mobile Alliance) DS standard protocol for interoperability with other mobile devices and servers. In addition to the transmission-by record scheme proposed by the OMA DS standard protocol, the DS server constructed in this paper also provides the transmission-by field scheme for the enhancement transmission performance between the server and clients. In order to validate its operations, data synchronization between the DS server and the SCTS (SyncML Conformance Test Suit), the suitability validation tool provided by the OMA, is performed. The validation results show that the DS server constructed in this paper satisfies all of the test cases except the Large Object function. The Large Object function will be implemented later because the function is not needed for the personal information synchronization process which this paper aims for. Also, synchronization times of the DS server are measured while increasing the number of data and clients. The results of the performance evaluations demonstrate that the DS server is scalable, in the sense that it has not suffered from any serious bottlenecks with respect to the number of data and clients. We expect that this work will provide a framework for various studies in the future for improving mobile DS operations.
The mobile content which adopts the subject matter of wired online game with interoperability element is in service. This is one of the plans which are the possibility of benefiting wired online game in game industry. In this paper, interoperability method of game content between wired and wireless classifies this with three branches and it tries to analyze the interrelationship of the interoperability element and interoperability types adopted in many wired online games. And, the development of interoperability server is composed of mobile server which takes charge of I/O process of mobile device and game server records all information of users in the game. With developing the content which is suitable in specific game(Ran-Online), this paper presents the development method of game content through interoperability between wired and wireless.
Recently, in spite of fast development of smartphone, recording technology has saved, listened and searched in server based on PSTN and wired network. We introduce a mobile transcript recording system for mobile office environment. All calls using smartphone are automatically saved on memory in mobile device with this system. Thereafter, recording files are encrypted and uploaded to recording server by user authority. Beside recording data in database on web server is saved and managed efficiently and economically through web application. This system is able to be used in legal corroborative facts and the prevention of crime such as voice phishing.

Mobile devices such as Android devices are emerging as a convenient client computing device with mobility and context-sensing capability. However, the computing power and hardware resource of the devices are limited due to their small form-factor. Consequently, large-scaled applications could not be deployed on these devices. Nonetheless, if the large-scaled applications are deployed and executed on the devices, high performance of the applications cannot be guaranteed. To remedy the limitation in terms of performance, it is inevitable to let some heavy-weight functionality executed on the server side and let a client application invoke the functionality in the server. To realize this kind of mobile applications, we adopt well-defined architecture design principles; being thin-client, being layered with Model-View-Controller (MVC), and being balanced between client side and server side. By adopting the principles, we propose a unique, ideal and practical architecture for mobile applications, called balanced MVC architecture. By considering the principles, key design considerations of realizing balanced MVC architecture lie in functionality partitioning. Hence, we define key criteria of determining the degree of performance. And, we define a method to design a balanced MVC architecture which embodies functionality partitioning for high performance, and a simulation-based evaluation method of balanced MVC architectures.

Although the reuse of the cached data for scrolling the map reduces the amount of passed data between client and server, it needs the conversions of data coordinates, selective deletion of objects and cache compaction at client. The conversion is time intensive operation due to limited resources of mobile phones such as low computing power, small memory. Therefore, for the efficient map control in the vector map service based mobile phone, it is necessary to study the method for reducing wireless network bandwidth and for overwhelming the limited resources of mobile phone as well. This paper proposes the methods for caching pre-received spatial objects in client-server systems for mobile GIS. We also analyze the strengths and drawbacks between the reuse of cached data and transmission of raw data respectively.
