Many multicast applications, such as video-on-demand and video conferencing, desire quality of service (QoS) support from an underlying network. The differentiated services (DiffServ) approach will bring benefits for theses applications. However, difficulties arise while integrating native IP multicasting with DiffServ, such as multicast group states in the core routers and a heterogeneous QoS requirement within the same multicast group. In addition, a missing per-flow reservation in DiffServ and a dynamic join/leave in the group introduce heavier and uncontrollable traffic in a network. In this paper, we propose a distributed and stateless admission control in the edge routers. We also use a mobile agents-based approach for dynamic resource availability checking. In this approach, mobile agents act in a parallel and distributed fashion and cooperate with each other in order to construct the multicast tree satisfying the QoS requirements.

A new multicast scheme for mobile nodes is proposed to support real-time communication in a more efficient way. In the proposed multicast scheme, the Xcast (a very flexible data plane mechanism) is integrated with the SIP (a very flexible control plane protocol) to support multicast for mobile nodes. The simulation results verify that the proposed scheme reduces unnecessary network traffic and achieves low latency of packets in the network.

Detecting environmental hazards and monitoring remote terrain are among many sensor network applications. In case of fire detection, it is significantly valuable to monitor fire-spot's shape and trend in time. Mobile ad hoc sensor nodes right round are responsible for sensoring, processing and networking packets, or even launching extinguisher. In this paper, we proposed a ring-oriented Multicast architecture based on "Fisheye State Routing" (MFSR) to organize a group of mobile ad hoc sensor nodes in a multicast way. It is familiar with traditional mesh-based multicast protocol [1] in mobile ad hoc network, trying to concentrates on efficiency and robustness simultaneously. Certain applications-based solution for hazards is proposed, quantitative results including architecture and recovery algorithms of MFSR are also investigated in this paper.

In this paper, we propose an architecture and a protocol fur Secure Mobile Multicast(SMM) offering efficient and secure multicast services to many mobile nodes. In this framework, we use Indirect and Direct Service Mode adaptively, according to the movement of mobile nodes around the overlapped service area, to provide reliably secure multicast with low latency, minimum key update, and minimum data loss.

To provide multicasting service, several multicast protocols for mobile hosts have been proposed. But they include glitches such as a non-optimal delivery route, data loss when hosts move another network, therefore they have some insecure problems about multicast data transmission. In this paper, we consider these problems and propose a new reliable and efficient multicast routing protocol for Mobile If networks. The proposed protocol provides reliable multicast transmission by compensating data loss from the previous agent when a mobile host moves another network. Also it provides additional function that is directly to connect a multicast tree according to the status of agents. It provides more efficient and optimal multicast path. The performance of the proposed protocol is proved by simulation of various conditions.
Fast handover is essential to support seamless multicast service in MIPv6. To reduce handover latency of multicast, there are two handover mechanisms, one is M-FMIP that prepares fast L3 handover before L2 handover and the other is M-HMIP that performs local area mobile multicast management. This paper proposes M-FHMIP that integrates an advantage of M-FMIP and M-HMIP, and analyzes the multicast handover latency.

The packet loss problem that occurs in the mobile multicast (MoM) protocol due to designated multicast service provider (DMSP) handoff is investigated through simulation experiments for several DMSP selection policies. Then, two enhanced DMSP schemes are proposed to minimize the packet loss of the MoM protocol with single DMSP. The first scheme uses a backup DMSP and greatly reduces the packet loss rate at the expense of the increased network traffic. The second scheme utilizes the extended DMSP operation and shows many desirable features such as the almost-zero packet loss rate and relatively low network traffic.

In order to securely transmit multicast data packets in a mobile environment where frequent join/leave events are a characteristic of the environment, there is a need for a new secure and efficient group key management solution. We propose a secure group key generation/distribution solution providing scalability and reliability. Using this solution, when a mobile node, which is in a multicast session, enters a new domain, the agent of the domain joins the multicast session and coordinates its data packets with the mobile node. The agent encrypts and transmits subsequent data packets to the mobile node, using a local one-time pad key. This key is generated with FI sequences, enabling the mobile node to regenerate the same data packet, based on the information sent by the agent. Our performance analysis demonstrates that the proposed solution can significantly reduce the number of key generations and distributions, when it is applied to the hierarchical mobile IPv6 network.

The interest for IPv6, which is next generation IP, increases, while the difficulty for adopting it into IT industries also increases too. We also expect that Internet technologies develop on basis of All-IP networks, which include various heterogeneous networks. Therefore, it is necessary for network to support mobility and multicast capability to create applications with wide-variety. In this paper, we propose a new mobile multicasting protocol called Mobile IPv6 Multicast Protocol(MIMP). The proposed scheme satisfies no packet losses from roaming and optimal routing efficiency.
Ad-hoc networks have the dynamic topology characteristics and most of the applications on ad-hoc networks require the group communication capability. Previously proposed multicast mechanisms on mobile ad-hoc networks build multicast-infrastructures like the tree or mesh for the group communication and these infrastructures nay cause significant overhead especially in a highly dynamic mobile ad-hoc network environment. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a new multicast mechanism supporting multicast services based on only the underlying unicast routing tables, hence any multicast-related infrastructures like trees and meshes are not required to be constructed.
