  • Data filtering is an essential task for improving the energy efficiency of radiofrequency identification (RFID) networks. Among various energy-efficient approaches, clustering-based data filtering is considered to be the most effective solution because data from cluster members can be filtered at cluster heads before being sent to base stations. However, this approach quickly depletes the energy of cluster heads. Furthermore, most previous studies have assumed that readers are fixed and interrogate mobile tags in a workspace. However, there are several applications in which readers are mobile and interrogate fixed tags in a specific area. This article proposes a model for dynamic clustering-based data filtering (DCDF) in mobile RFID networks, where mobile readers are re-clustered periodically and the cluster head role is rotated among the members of each cluster. Simulation results show that DCDF is effective in terms of balancing energy consumption among readers and prolonging the lifetime of the mobile RFID networks.

  • The Object Directory Service(ODS) of the mobile RFID is the core technology of the object information service for the object information retrieval among objects with RFID tags. The ODS service returns an URL information of a specific object application service after recognizing the mRFID tag in real time. The general ODS service is suitable for the global mRFID environment, but it is not good in the local networks and private networks that information security is needed. This paper proposes a new ODS service algorithm for the improvement of the general ODS service algorithm.

  • In recent years, one of alternatives for constructing RFID networks that provide mobile services is using wireless sensor networks (WSN) to enhance network capacity, utility and scalability. Due to absence of compatible reader anti-collision control and channel capture phenomenon, the medium access control protocols as used in the RFID networks lead to reader collision and starvation problem. In this paper, we develop a MAC protocol which is called Enhanced Collision Avoidance MAC (ECO) to avoid reader to reader collisions in an integrated RFID network. ECO is a CSMA-based MAC protocol, and operates on integrated nodes which consist of a RFID reader and a mote. Performance evaluation shows superior results to pure-CSMA protocols under dense deployment environments, both in number of failures and in throughput.

  • As RFID is utilized more frequently and diversely in terms of its application areas, the application of mobile RFID technology, which integrates cellular networks and RFID, is highly anticipated. The growth and development of the RFID field has bolstered the development of mobile RFID chips to be embedded in mobile phones. Because mobile RFID chips are embedded in cell phones, limitations such as low power, small form factor, and costliness must be confronted. This study presents the design of a RFID digital baseband processor that is suitable for mobile readers. The RF analog component, which affects the baseband signals, is designed separately, in consideration of the limitations stated above. The function of the baseband processor was verified through simulations and prototyped using FPGA. The power consumption of the chip is 20mW under a 20MHz clock and the chip measures $3mm{\times}3mm$.

  • RFID technology is one of the core technologies for ubiquitous computing, and many research activities have been going on in this research area currently. Related with these researches, mobile RFID network services using mobile devices having a built-in RFID reader and mobile networks have been launched in Korea, for the first time in the world. In this paper, we propose a method to coulect ALE middleware suggested by EPCglobal and existing mobile RFID network services. Especially, a RFID code conversion method is proposed to process mobile RFID code systems within ALE middleware systems. Using the proposed method, application developers and(or) content business industries can acquire the information they want, which is filtered and refined in real-time or periodically, from mobile RFID users. So, they can Provide customized services to users by using the user preference information. In this war, the ALE middleware system can be easily extended to process mobile RFID code effectively.

  • Mobile Telemedicine uses common technologies that provide a conduit for information exchange between physicians nurses and patients. In addition to patient records, medical professionals will obtain vital signs and other reference data through Ubiquitous Sensor networks(USN). In this paper about a design and implementation of RFID reader platform that received RFID tag information from patients tags, transmit the data to SBC(Single board computer) based on Intel PXA255 ARM CPU and SBC transmit the data to MySQL server in hospital using by Wireless Internet. his system that based on Embedded Linux is composed of RFID module, ARM processor, RS-232 interface, and Wireless LAN. This paper also provides a brief overview and concept of RFID reader, and proposes the design and implementations of the RFID reader platform used QT and MySQL based on Embedded Linux.

  • Recently, with the development of mobile techniques and the consideration to conveniency of using, the research on Mobile RFID Reader technique is getting more and more attentions. Until now, all security authentication algorithms of RFID are algorithms about range between Tag and Reader. The range between Reader and backend DB is composed by wired networks, so it's supposed to be secure range. But it must be taken account of the problem of information security and privacy in wireless range during the design of Mobile RFID Reader. In this paper we design an blind signature scheme based on weil-paring finite group's ECC encryption scheme, and by using this blind signature we propose the anonymous authorization scheme to Mobile RFID Reader's users.

  • In this study, the characteristics and types of 1D, 2D barcodes were examined. It is necessary to provide mobile services by making full use of the advantages of the technologies, such as 1D, 2D barcodes, and RFID, and by complementing the disadvantages of them mutually in Korea. Especially, in a mobile environment where the spread of smart phones and mobile networks are expanding, barcodes and RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) were analyzed as a very useful information media which is able to connect offline analogue media and online digital media. In addition, library automation systems and the cases of mobile student ID services using barcodes and RFID in Korean libraries were analyzed. The cases of mobile services using barcodes in foreign countries were also analyzed. With these cases, we propose a method to empower mobile services using barcodes in Korean libraries.

  • Auto-ID industries and their services have been improved since decades ago, and radio frequency identification (RFID) has been contributing in many applications. Product management can be the foremost example. In our industrial experiences, RFID in ultra high frequency (UHF) band provides much longer interrogation ranges than that of 13.56MHz; many more applications exist thereby. There should be several interesting and useful ideas on UHF RFID; however, those ideas can be limited due to the inevitable environmental circumstances that restrict the interrogation range in shorten value. This paper discusses the propagation interference among different types of readers (e.g, mobile RFID readers in stationary reader zone) in dense-reader environment. In most cases, UHF RFIDs in Korea will be dependent on the UHF mobile RFIDs. In this sense, the UHF mobile users accidently move into the stationary reader's interrogation zone. This is serious problem. In this paper, we analyze propagation loss and propose the effective channel allocation scheme that can contribute developing less-invasive UHF RFID networks. The simulation and practical measurement process using the commercial CAD tools and measurement equipments are presented.
