  • In this paper, we introduce a new concept of partial ordering which permits us to compare pairs of the dependence structures of a new hitting times for POD multivariate vector process of interest as to their degree of POD-ness. We show that POD ordering is closed under convolution, limit in distribution, compound distribution, mixture of a certain type and convex combination. Finally, we present several examples of POD ordering processes.

  • A separation/purification process for enzymatic sugar ester production was investigated The crude reaction mixture contained sugar ester and unreacted fatty acid in acetone. The reaction mixture was mixed with KOH/phosphate buffer. Hexane was then added to enhance phase separation. Three phases formed: a lower aqueous phase containing nothing of interest, a polar organic solvent middle phase that contained mostly fatty acid soaps, and a hexane-rich upper phase that contained mostly sugar ester. Distribution coefficient of each component was measured.

  • A novel membrane separation process for the separation of liquid mixture is Pervaporation. The term, 'pervaporation', is a combination of permeation and evaporation, and was first introduced by kober[1] in 1917. In this technique, the liquid mixture in feed is in contact with one side of a dense non-porous membrane and after diffusing through the membrane is removed from the downstream side in the vapor phase, but is usually condensed afterwards to obtain a permeate in liquid from.

  • In this study, it was tried to deposit diamond films from a mixture of CH4 and H2 by the microwave plasma chemical vapor deposition(MWCVD). The MWCVD process was designed and set up from the 2.45GHz microwave generator. And the diamond film was successfully deposited on silicon wafers from the mixture of methane and hydrogen. The microstructures of the deposited diamond films were studied by using the following deposition variables : (a) methane concentration(0.6-10%), (b) reaction pressure(10-100torr), and (c) the substrate temperature(450-76$0^{\circ}C$).

  • The chemical aspects of primary reference fuel (PRF)/air mixture under RCCI conditions are investigated to provide fundamental insights into the ignition characteristics of RCCI combustion. Chemical explosive mode analysis (CEMA) is adopted to understand the ignition process of the lean PRF/air mixture by identifying controlling species and elementary reactions at different locations and times.

  • The characteristics of combustion process in an internal combustion engine are affected by the mixing process between injected fuel and ambient gas. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the mixture formation process of diesel spray. In this study, the spray structure was visualized by the exciplex fluorescence method, which can provide the simultaneous 2-D images of vapor and liquid phase in inner spray. For accurate investigation, the liquid-phase images were recorded with a 35mm still camera and CCD camera. Consequentially, it could be confirmed that the high-concentration vapor phase is formed in the region of spray tip and the edge of the liquid phase where droplets exist in the evaporating diesel spray, and the formed vapor is spread by diffusion. Also, the distribution of vapor is determined by the motion of droplets that exist in the edge of the liquid phase and the spray-tip region.

  • EAF dust which is contained around 30% of zinc, 15% of iron and 3% of lead individually, is chemically treated by ammonium chloride, ammonia water, ammonia gas and carbon dioxide, and also tested and identified the ratios of the recovery of In by applied the variations of particle size, pH and heating temperature as well, in order to getting optimized recovery of the In metal after performing all of those processes. Experimental results showed that the rate of Zn recovery is 97% when the mixture of 1.3 of $NH_4Cl$/EAF is heated to the temperature of $400^{\circ}C$ and leached by water, and 95% recovery of In when ammonia gas and carbon dioxide is added simultaneously and adjust the 9.5 of pH to the same mixture above. For the purpose of remove the impurities in the mixed sample, which is prepared by the two samples, indicated above showing as the ratio of 95% and 97% recovery, in case of applied the cementation process to it, and also by electrolytic process, produced the In plate of 95~97%, and acquired 99-99.5% of In metal ingot finally by applied the heating process at $470{\sim}500^{\circ}C$.

  • To improve the performance and reduce raw material costs, blocked isocyanates were prepared with mixture of blocking agents in many industries. Three blocked isocyanates (adducts) namely $\varepsilon$-caprolactam/benzotriazole-blocked 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI), toluene-2,4-diisocyanate (TDI) and 4,4'-dicyclohexyl-methane diisocyanate ($H_{12}$MDI) were synthesized. Six reference adducts were also prepared by blocking MDI, TDI, and $H_{12}$MDI with $\varepsilon$-caprolactam ($\varepsilon$-CL) or benzotriazole. The reactions were carried out in acetone medium and dibutyltin dilaurate (DBTDL) was used as a catalyst. The progress of the blocking reaction was monitored by IR spectroscopy. De-blocking temperatures (dissociation temperatures) of these adducts were studied using DSC and TGA and the results were correlated. As expected, the thermal analysis data showed that de-blocking temperature of blocked aromatic isocyanates was lower than that of the blocked aliphatic isocyanates. The low de-blocking temperature of blocked aromatic isocyanate could be due to electron withdrawing benzene ring present in the blocked isocyanates. It was also found that benzotriazole-blocked adducts de-blocked at higher temperature compared with $\varepsilon$-CL-blocked adducts.

  • Quality design methodologies have received constituent attention from a number of researchers and practitioners for more than twenty years. Specially, the quality design for drug products must be carefully considered because of the hazards involved in the pharmaceutical industry. Conventional pharmaceutical formulation design problems with mixture experiments have been typically studied under the assumption of an unconstrained experimental region with a single quality characteristic. However, real-world pharmaceutical industrial situations have many physical limitations. We are often faced with multiple quality characteristics with constrained experimental regions. ln order to address these issues, the main objective of this paper is to propose a robust desirability function (RDF) model using a desirability function (DF) and mean square error (MSE) to simultaneously consider a number of multiple quality characteristics. This paper then present L-pseudocomponents and U-pseudocomponents to handle physical constraints. Finally, a numerical example shows that the proposed RDF can efficiently be applied to a pharmaceutical process design.
