Animal Tracking in Infrared Video based on Adaptive GMOF and Kalman Filter

  • The major problems of recent object tracking methods are related to the inefficient detection of moving objects due to occlusions, noisy background and inconsistent body motion. This paper presents a robust method for the detection and tracking of a moving in infrared animal videos. The tracking system is based on adaptive optical flow generation, Gaussian mixture and Kalman filtering. The adaptive Gaussian model of optical flow (GMOF) is used to extract foreground and noises are removed based on the object motion. Kalman filter enables the prediction of the object position in the presence of partial occlusions, and changes the size of the animal detected automatically along the image sequence. The presented method is evaluated in various environments of unstable background because of winds, and illuminations changes. The results show that our approach is more robust to background noises and performs better than previous methods.

Performance of a Biofilter for Odor Removal during Manure Composting

  • Odor generated during composting of livestock manure is mainly due to ammonia emission. Biofiltration is a desirable method to control composting odor. This study was conducted to analyze the efficiency of using fresh compost as a biofilter. A mixture of cattle manure and recycled compost was composted in a bin equipped with a suction-type blower. The exhaust gas was filtered through the fresh compost. Residence time was controlled by the flow rate of exhaust gas and the depth of filtering materials. At the aeration rate of 30 L/min(experiment I), ammonia reduction rate varied from 100% to -15% for biofilter A(residence time 56.5 s) and almost 100% for biofilter B(residence time 113 s). At the aeration rate of 30 L/min, the cumulative ammonia reduction rate was 80.5% for biofilter A and 99.9% for biofilter B. At the aeration rate of 50 L/min(experiment II), the lowest reduction rate showed a negative value of -350% on the 8th and 9th day for biofilter A(residence time 33.9 5), and 50% on the loth day for biofilter B(residence time 67.8s). At the aeration rate of 50 L/min, the cumulative ammonia reduction rate was 82.5% fur biofilter A and 97.4% for biofilter B. Filtering efficiency was influenced by residence time. The moisture content(MC) and total nitrogen(T-N) of the filtering material were increased by absorbing moisture and ammonia included in the exhaust gas, while pH was decreased and total carbon(T-C) remained unchanged during the filtering operation.

PCA 기반 LDA 혼합 알고리즘을 이용한 실시간 얼굴인식 시스템 구현 (The Embodiment of the Real-Time Face Recognition System Using PCA-based LDA Mixture Algorithm)

  • 본 논문에서는 실시간 얼굴인식 시스템을 위한 새로운 PCA 기반 LDA 혼합 알고리즘을 제안한다. 크게 얼굴추출 부분과 얼굴인식 부분으로 구성되어 있으며, 얼굴추출 부분에는 차영상, color filtering, 눈과 입의 영역 검출 그리고 정규화 방법을 사용하였고, 얼굴인식 부분에는 추출된 얼굴 후보 영역 영상에 PCA와 LDA를 혼합하여 적용하였다. 기존의 PCA만을 사용한 인식시스템은 낮은 인식률을 보였으며, LDA만을 사용한 인식시스템에서는 학습데이터의 수에 비하여 영상의 화소 개수가 많은 경우 LDA를 입력 영상에 그대로 적용하기 곤란하였다. 이러한 단점을 극복하기 위하여, 정규화 된 영상에 PCA를 적용하여 차원을 축소한 후 LDA를 사용하여 실시간 인식을 가능하게 하였으며, 인식률 또한 향상시킬 수 있었다. 제안한 시스템의 성능을 평가하기 위하여 자체 제작한 DAUface의 데이터베이스를 가지고 실험을 하였다. 실험 결과, 제안된 방법이 PCA 방법과 LDA 방법, 그리고 ICA 방법에 비해 인식률이 상당히 우수함을 알 수 있었다.

경사각을 갖는 적층판식 유수분리기의 유수분리 효율에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Oil/Water Separation Efficiency of Laminated Plate Type Oily water Separator with Inclined Angle)

  • Its a tendency to strengthen related international was as the importance on marine oil pollution recently becomes the issue. According to the regulation of IMO, oil discharge from ships is allowed under 15PPM only and oil filtering equipment is essential. Oily water separator of laminated plate type which is one of gravity type separator can be use as assistant equipment for the oil filtering system to meet the present IMO standard, because it fits well to process large amount of rich oil with high specific gravity. The purpose of this paper is to investigate an efficiency of oil/water separation with the characteristics of laminated plate arrangement. The analyse of oil contents for oil-water mixture were carried out in order to find an efficiency of oil/water separation and an experimental study was simultaneously carried out to investigate internal flow characteristics of separator by visualization method and PIV(Particle Image Velocimetry) measurement at three spaces of plates for 5, 10 and 15 mm with variation of inlet flow rates of $0.25m^3$/h and $0.5m^3$/h. The experimental results showed that the space of the plates acts a significant role in the separating process.

In-situ 환원/소결법을 이용한 다공성 니켈 멤브레인 가스필터의 제조 및 평가 (Fabrication and Characterization of Porous Nickel Membrane for High Precision Gas Filter by In-situ Reduction/Sintering Process)

  • Disk type porous nickel membrane was fabricated by in-situ reduction/sintering process using compacted NiO/PMMA (PMMA; Polymethyl methacrylate) mixture at $800^{\circ}C$ in hydrogen atmosphere. The porosity (49$\sim$58%) of these membrane was investigated as an amount of PMMA additive. The thermal decomposition and reduction behavior of NiO/PMMA were analyzed by TG/DTA in hydrogen atmosphere and the activation energy for the hydrogen reduction of NiO and thermal degradation of PMMA was calculated as 61.1 kJ/mol, evaluated by Kissinger method. Finally, the filtering performance and pressure drop were measured by particle counting system.

수직 흐름 제올라이트 갈대 여과상의 간헐적 주입에 의한 인공하수 처리 (Vertical Flow Zeolite-Filled Reed Bed for Treatment of Artificial Sewage with Intermittent Feeding)

  • 제올라이트로 충진된 수직 흐름 갈대 여과상에 인공하수를 주입하면서 처리효율을 조사하였다. 여과상 표면적 $m^2$당 1일 314 L의 인공하수가 6시간마다 10분 동안 간헐적으로 주입되었다 각 항목별 연중 평균 처리효율은 CO $D_{Cr}$ , 95.1%, T-N 49.5%, N $H_4$$^{+}$-N 99.4%, T-P 56.4%이었다. T-N의 처리효율은 가동 시간이 경과함에 따라 현저하게 감소하였다. 여과상의 상층에서 많은 인이 흡착되었으며 흡착된 인 중 대부분은 Fe-p, Ca-P와 환원가용성 Fe-P이었다.

  • 신호처리의 많은 분야에서, 심하게 비가우시안 성질을 가지는 분포, 혹은 분포의 중간은 가우시안 특성을 가지지만 양 끝에서는 편차가 크게 나는 분포를 다루어야 하는 경우가 종종 있다. 이러한 편차에 효과적으로 대처하기 위하여 본 논문에서는 음성 신호의 여기 신호로서 혼합 분포(mixture distribution)을 고려한다. 이것은 음성 분석시 피치 주파수가 미치는 영향을 감소시키며, 배경 잡음을 제거하는 데에도 효과적이다. 음성 신호 파라미터의 추정 및 향상을 위하여 EM 알고리즘을 사용하묘, 향상 과정에서는 강인 칼만 필터링 기법을, 파라미터 추정 관정에서는 검출/추정 기법을 사용한다. 실험 결과, 본 논문에서 제안하는 알고리즘이 입력 신호대잡음비가 열악한 경우에 기존의 것보다 우수한 성능을 보인다.

직접 수치 모사를 통한 캐비테이션 소음 예측 및 모델링 (Cavitation Noise Prediction: Direct numerical simulation and Modeling)

  • Prediction methods for cavitation noise are presented. At first, direct numerical simulation of cavitating flow noise has been performed, and acoustic analogy equation based on the cavitation noise modeling is derived. For the direct numerical simulation, a density based homogenous equilibrium model is employed to simulate cavitating two-phase flow and the governing equations are solved with high-order numerical schemes to resolve cavitation noise. The compressible Navier-Stokes equations for mixture fluids are discretized with a sixth-order central compact scheme, and the steep gradient of flow variables and supersonic regions are treated with the selective spatial filtering technique. The direct simulation of cavitating flow noise is performed for a 2D circular cylinder at cavitation number 0.7 and 1. The far-field noise is also predicted with the derived analogy equation. Noise spectrum predicted with the equation is well compared with the result of direct numerical simulation and also agree well with the theory.

Separation of Single Channel Mixture Using Time-domain Basis Functions

  • We present a new technique for achieving source separation when given only a single charmel recording. The main idea is based on exploiting the inherent time structure of sound sources by learning a priori sets of time-domain basis functions that encode the sources in a statistically efficient manner. We derive a learning algorithm using a maximum likelihood approach given the observed single charmel data and sets of basis functions. For each time point we infer the source parameters and their contribution factors. This inference is possible due to the prior knowledge of the basis functions and the associated coefficient densities. A flexible model for density estimation allows accurate modeling of the observation, and our experimental results exhibit a high level of separation performance for simulated mixtures as well as real environment recordings employing mixtures of two different sources. We show separation results of two music signals as well as the separation of two voice signals.

  • The commercially available paclitaxel product, Taxol$\circledR$ is currently formulated in a vehicle containing approximately a 1:1 v/v mixture of polyoxyethylated castor oil (Cremophor EL) and ethanol. Cremophor EL, a commonly used surfactant for lipophilic compounds, has been associated with many issues, such as adverse effects particularly following rapid administration, stability with the possibility for drug precipitation upon dilution, and filtering requirements.(omitted)
