DEM을 이용한 입자 혼합 시뮬레이션과 혼합지수들의 성능 비교 (Particle-Mixing Simulations Using DEM and Comparison of the Performance of Mixing Indices)

  • 식품, 약학 분야 등 많은 산업 분야에서 다른 특징을 가지는 분자 알갱이들을 잘 혼합하는 것은 중요한 작업이다. 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션의 발달로 적정 수준의 혼합 상태를 얻기 위해 먼저 시뮬레이션을 통한 최적의 혼합 조건들을 찾는 작업이 보편화되고 있다. 이에 따라 시뮬레이션 과정에서 혼합 상태를 측정할 수 있는 혼합 지수에 대한 필요성이 증가하고 있다. 현재까지 많이 사용되는 혼합 지수는 두 가지 종류로 분류되는데 첫째는 샘플링을 통한 통계적 기반의 방법이고 두 번째는 전체 입자들을 모두 사용하여 혼합 지수를 계산하는 방법이다. 본 논문에서는 DEM 시뮬레이션으로 입자들을 혼합하는 과정에서 획득한 데이터에 대해 다양한 혼합 지수들을 계산하여 각 혼합 지수들의 성능과 장단점을 비교 분석하였다. 이로써 적절한 혼합지수를 선택하여 사용할 수 있는 실험적 정보를 제시하고자 한다.

뽕잎과 오디분말을 이용한 육류용 소스 제조 및 품질평가 (Quality Characteristics of Sauce for Meat prepared with Mulberry Leaf Powder and Mulberry Fruit Powder)

  • Recently, the incidence of cardiovascular diseases including high blood pressure and heart disease has increased with increased meat consumption in Korea. This study was performed to determine the optimal mixing ratio among ratios of 0, 1:0, 0:1, 1:1, 2:1, and 1:2 of mulberry leaf powder to mulberry fruit powder based on the anti-inflammatory effects. Then, the quality characteristics of the sauce for meat prepared with different mixing ratios (0, 1:1, 1:2, 1:3, 1:4, and 1:5) of mulberry leaf powder to mulberry fruit powder were assessed. The inhibitory effects of ML2MF1 (2:1 ratio of mulberry leaf powder to mulberry fruit powder) on NO and TNF-${\alpha}$ production were superior to those of other mixing ratios. With respect to color values of the sauce for meat prepared with different mixing ratio of mulberry leaf powder to mulberry fruit powder, as the mulberry fruit powder mixing ratios was increased, redness was increased but lightness and yellowness were decreased. The sensory evaluation of ML1MF5S (1:5 ratio of mulberry leaf powder to mulberry fruit powder) sauce for meat showed the highest score with respect to color, smell, taste, harmony with meat and the overall preference. In conclusion, as the mulberry leaf powder mixing ratio was increased, the anti-inflammatory activities were increased. But sensory evaluation scores were increased as the mulberry fruit powder mixing ratio was increased. Therefore, by performing further study, the method to increase mulberry leaf powder in the mixing ratio for improving the sensory evaluation should be provided.

DME-LPG 순차 혼합시 저장탱크 내의 혼합특성 (Mixing Characteristics of Sequential Blending with DME and LPG in Mixing Drum)

  • DME 및 LPG 혼합연료에 대한 혼합도 분석 실험을 수행하였다. DME 20 wt%와 LPG(주성분 프로판) 80 wt%를 탱크에 순차적으로 주입하여 시간 경과에 따라 탱크의 각 측정부에서의 농도를 측정하였다. 먼저 DME가 주입되고 그 후에 프로판이 주입되면서 DME의 일부는 혼합이 되나 일부는 혼합이 되지 않고 밀도차에 의해서 탱크 하부로 가라앉게 되는 층상화 현상이 발생하였다. 1일 경과 시 약 0.2~0.3 wt%의 증가비율로 두 연료가 혼합되어 완전히 균일하게 되기까지 약 500시간 이상이 소요되었다. 또한 재순환 펌프를 가동하여 탱크 내 연료를 순환 시킨 후 혼합 연료의 성분을 측정한 실험에서는 DME와 프로판이 균일하게 혼합됨을 확인하였다.

  • 스크램제트의 연소실 내부로 유입되는 공기의 속도는 초음속으로 체류 시간은 수 ms로 매우 짧다. 이 짧은 시간 안에 연료분사, 공기-연료 혼합, 연소과정이 모두 이루어져야 한다. 공기와 연료의 혼합을 증대하는 방법은 여러 가지가 제시되었다. 이중 자유류 마하수 2.5의 단일 수직 분사 방법에서의 Cavity를 이용한 혼합 특성올 알아보기 위해 수치해석을 수행하였다. 사용된 코드는 동일조건의 실험결과와 비교하여 검증하였고 이를 통해 Cavity의 크기에 의한 혼합증대를 확인할 수 있었다.

Numerical analysis of internal flow and mixing performance in polymer extruder II: twin screw element

  • We analyzed the non-Newtonian and non-isothermal flow with Carreau-Yasuda viscosity model in co-rotating and counter-rotating twin screw extruder systems. The mixing performances with respect to the screw speed, the screw pitch, and the rotating direction have been investigated. The dynamics of mixing was studied numerically by tracking the motions of particles. The extent of mixing was characterized in terms of the deformation rate, the residence time distribution, and the average strain. The results showed that the high screw speed decreases the residence time but increases the deformation rate. Small screw pitch increases the residence time. It is concluded that the high screw speed increases the dispersive mixing performance, while the small screw pitch increases the distributive mixing performance. Co-rotating screw extruder has the better conveying performance and the distributive mixing performance than counter-rotating screw extruder with the same screw speed and pitch. Co-rotating screw extruder developed faster transport velocity and it is advantageous the flow characteristics to the mixing that transfers polymer melt from one barrel to the other barrel.

  • The fast pyrolysis characteristics of lignocellulosic biomass are investigated for a bubbling fluidized bed reactor by means of computational fluid dynamics (CFD). To simulate multiphase reacting flows for gases and solids, an Eulerian-Eulerian approach is applied. Attention is paid for the primary and secondary reactions affected by gas-solid flow field. From the result, it is scrutinized that fast pyrolysis reaction is promoted by chaotic bubbling motion of the multiphase flow enhancing the mixing of solid particles. In particular, vortical flow motions around gas bubbles play an important role for solid mixing and consequent fast pyrolysis reaction. Discussion is made for the time-averaged pyrolysis reaction rates together with time-averaged flow quantities which show peculiar characteristics according to local transverse location in a bubbling fluidized bed reactor.

  • The characteristics of flow and heat transfer in a bubbling fluidized bed are investigated by means of computational fluid dynamics (CFD). To simulate two-phase flow for the gas and solid flows, Eulerian-Eulerian approach is applied. Attention is paid for a heat transfer from the wall to fluidized bed by bubbling motion of the flow. From the result, it is confirmed that heat transfer is promoted by chaotic bubbling motion of the flow by enhancement of mixing among solid particles. In particular, the vortical flow motion around gas bubble plays an important role for the mixing and consequent heat transfer. Discussion is made for the time and space averaged Nusselt number which shows peculiar characteristics corresponding to different flow regimes.

미기상 특성에 따른 대기오염 농도분포에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Distribution of Air Pollutant Concentration According to Micrometeorological Characteristics)

  • The diffusion of the pollutants released into atmosphere is dependent on its chemical reaction, topography and micrometeorological characteristics. The purpose of the study is to investigate how much micrometeorological characteristics such as stability, wind speed and mixing height affect the diffusion of the air pollutants. For this purpose, this paper let 1) the basic theory be K-theory, 2) eddy diffusivity and wind speed be dependent on mixing height and stability, and 3) Grout method be used for numeric calculation. The result was 1) the more unstable condition, the higher mixing height and the higher wind speed we, the lower pollutants concentration appears, 2) the most intensive effect on the distribution of the pollutant concentration is the atmospheric stability.

시멘트 혼합토의 강도 특성 (Strength Characteristics of Cement-Mixed Soil)

  • This study was conducted by the tests of materials engineering and soil mechanics to see the strength characteristics of the ‘Cement-Mixed Soil'. To sum up my experiments, I would like to present the results which are the theoretical base and fundamental data to establish the standard design including the design of mixing proportions of the soil as a construction material. In conclusion, in this study the optimum cement mixing ratio is $9\%$ and in this ratio the optimum moisture content of compaction work is $19.3\%$ from the analysis of the strength characteristics, as well as in consideration of the economic profits and nature familiar facts.

  • This study presents the prediction of NOx and mixing characteristics with several chemical reaction mechanisms of methane in EV burner of double cone. Experimental results are compared with numerical results for validation. Mixing characteristics are analyzed at monitoring points based on the modified unmixedness. The mixing characteristics were improved in a certain case, the lance injection case. In 1-step reaction case, inside of the cone, flame was formed and lots of NOx was generated because the fuel injected from the lance was overestimated. In 2-step reaction case, numerical results showed a good agreement with experimental results in a qualitative manner.
