  • The layer that is directly influenced by ground surface is called the atmospheric boutsdary layer in comparison with the free atmosphere of higher layer. In the boundary layer, the changes of wind, temperature and coefficient of turbulent diffusion in altitude are large and have great influences an atmospheric diffusion. The purpose of this paper is to express the structure and characteristics of development of mixed layer by using laboratory experiment and numerical simulation. Laboratory experiment using water tank are performed that closely simulate the process of break up of nocturnal surface inversion above heated surface and its phenomena are analyzed by the use of horizontally averaged temperature which is observed. The result obtained from the laboratory experiment is compared with theoretical ones from ; \textsc{k}-\varepsilon numerical model. The results are summarized as follows. 1) The horizontally averaged temperature was found to vary smoothly with height and the mixed layer developed obviously being affected by the convection. 2) The mean height of mixed layer may be predicted as a function of time, knowing the mean initial temperature gradient. The experimental values are associated well with the theoretical values computed for value of the universal constant $C_r$= 0.16, our $C_r$ value is little smaller than the value found by Townsend and Deardoru et al.

  • Mixed-reality technologies have proven to be valuable in many architecture, engineering and construction / facilities management (AEC/FM) applications. However, its potential of being adapted to facilitate hazard identification and risk communication in construction workplaces has yet to be fully explored. This paper makes an attempt to evaluate the feasibility of applying mixed-reality to enhancing safety risk communication in construction workplaces. Experiments have been designed in which Microsoft HoloLens® together with a developed application will be used to intervene in the practice of jobsite risk communication. A cross-sectional survey will then be followed to examine the effectiveness and acceptability of this technology through analysis on data collected from participants in the construction industry. The preliminary results show that this emerging HoloLens® technology, compared to the traditional communication methods (i.e., phone calls, walking up people and talk, and video conferencing), facilitates accurate, prompt safety communication on construction sites. Such findings signify the potential of applying mixed-reality to safety performance enhancement in the construction industry.

  • These experiments have been conducted to study the effect by microbial inoculums currently on the market of enhancing the decomposition of organic matters. As a result of studying the effect of enhancing the decomposition of rice straw and chicken manure mixed with saw dust treated with commercial inoculums, it was found that the use of inoculums have speeded up the rate of decomposing straws at the early stage. The decomposition rate of rice straws that have speeded up with the use of comcrial inoculums in at early incubation periods has slow down in the later stage while the decomposition rate of chicken manure that has slowed down in the early stage has speeded up at the later incubation. As a result, it is found that there have been no differences between the use of microbial inoculums and control. In the experiment, filamentous fungus is found to have played an important role in decomposing the rice straws and bacteria is considered to have played a greater role in the decomposition of chicken manure mixed with saw dust.

  • In this study, consolidation test and numerical analysis were performed with the aim of investigating the characteristics of consolidation behavior of mixed soil with the amount and particle shape of inserted materials. Mixed soil was made up of matrix (dredged clay) and inserted material (crashed oyster shell and/or sand). The concept of stress share ratio was introduced to evaluate the consolidation characteristics of mixed soils. And the finite differential numerical analysis was carried out by applying the Mikasa's consolidation theory. From the results of experiments and numerical analysis, it was verified that mixed soil consolidation behavior is affected by changes in inserted material. When a similar amount of granular material was inserted, the compressibility of the clay matrix of oyster shell mixed soil was smaller than that of sand mixed soil.

  • In this paper, we propose a watermarking technology for a mixed music. The mixed music means recreated music that contained a number of musics in one audio clip. Royalty associated with the audio content is typically imposed by the full audio content. However, the calculation of royalties gives rise to conflict between copyright holders and users in the mixed music because it uses not full audio content but a fraction of that. To solve the conflict related with the mixed music, we propose a audio watermarking technique that inserts different watermarks for each audio in the audio that make up the mixed music. The proposed watermarking scheme might have poor SNR (signal to noise ratio) to embed to each audio clip. To overcome poor SNR problem, we used inaudible pseudo random sequence which modifies typical pseudo random sequence to canonical signed digit (CSD) form. The proposed method verifies the performance by each watermark extraction and the time internal estimation valies from the mixed music.

  • This study was on a recyling system of food waste using poultry and earthworms. Food waste was fed to the egg-raising hens(Gallus gallus) or ducks(Anas platyrynchos). And the excrement of poultry after ingestion of food waste was mixed with other organic waste such as paper mill sludge or night soil sludge, aged and then provided to the earthworms(Eisenia andrei). An egg-raising hen and a duck ate up 0.40kg and 0.79kg of food waste per day, respectively. And the percental rate of exctretion(the amount of excrement/the amount of food waste eaten up) of an egg-raising hen and a duck was 71.0% and 53.7%, respectively. The excrement of poultry that had been mixed with paper mill sludge and aged was vermicomposted more easily than the excrement that had been mixed with night soil sludge and aged. The excrement of poultry aged for more than 21 days was more suitable to vermicompost than the excrement of poultry aged for less than 21 days. Even though, the earthworm lost its biomass on the mixed feeds regardless of their aging periods, which was supposed to be caused by high salinity in poulty's excrements.

  • Brettanomyces custersii CBS 5512 which has reported as a thermotolerant glucose-cellobiose co-fermentable yeast strain was mutated with UV and NTG to improve ethanol yield at higher than 4$0^{\circ}C$ B. custersii H1-23, H1-39, H1-55 and H1062 were finally selected for hyper-fermentable strains at higher than 4$0^{\circ}C$ from thermotolerant 7510 colonies through 5th selection. Among the selected strains, H1-39 mutant had better fermentability at 4$0^{\circ}C$ and 43$^{\circ}C$ from different concentrations of glucose. H1-39 and H1-23 mutants yielded more than 70% of the theoretical ethanol yield in 4 and 8% mixed sugars at above 4$0^{\circ}C$, which was 5-11% higher than those by original strain. Especially, H1-39 mutant had better fermentability in 4% mixed sugar. It showed 78.5% of the theoretical yield at 4$0^{\circ}C$ and 72.2% of the theoretical yield at 43$^{\circ}C$. On the other hand, theoretical yield of ethanol by H1-39 mutant in 8% mixed sugar at 4$0^{\circ}C$ and 43$^{\circ}C$ were 75.2% and 70.2%, respectively. Theses values increased up to 7-11% as compared to those by orginal strain. By the simultaneous saccharification and fermentation, ethanol production by H1-39 mutant increased up to more than 23% as compared to that by original strain.

  • A step-up option is a newly developed financial instrument that simultaneously provides higher security and profitability. This paper introduces two step-up options: step-up type1 and step-up type2 options, and derives the option pricing formulas using the Laplace transform. We assume that the underlying equity price follows a regime-switching model that reflects the long-term maturity of these options. The option prices are calculated for the two types of funds, a pure stock fund composed of risky assets only and a mixed fund composed of stocks and bonds, to reflect possible variety in the fund underlying asset mix. The impact of changes in the model parameters on the option prices is analyzed. This paper provides information crucial to product developments.

  • A copper-tungsten sintered alloy(Cu-W) has been friction-welded to a tough pitch copper (Cu) in order to investigate friction weldability. The tensile strength of the friction welded joint was increased up to 87% of the Cu base metal under the condition of friction time 1.0 see, friction pressure 40MPa and upset pressure 100MPa, upset time 5.0 sec. And it is related to upset pressure rather than friction time. Mixed layer was formed in the Cu adjacent weld interface and W particles which were included in mixed layer could induce fracture in the Cu adjacent to the weld interface. Thickness of mixed layer was reduced as upset pressure increase.

  • The electrical properties of the mixed conducting yttria(8 mol%) stabilized zirconia(YSZ)-nickel oxide(NiO) composites were examined by a.c. impedance, 4-probe d.c. conductivity between 400 and $1000^{\circ}C$. The oxygen partial pressure dependence of conductivity, and electromotive force measurement of galvanic cell enabled to determine the electronic contribution to the conduction. Up to 6 vol% NiO addition, the conductivity decreased since the electronic NiO acted as an insulator in ionic matrix. However the ionic transport was dominant until NiO content reaches 26 vol%. Mixed conduction was observed between 26 and 68 vol% of NiO. The effect of composition on the electrical property was explained by the microstructure and thus by the distribution of two phases.
