This study was conduct to investigate the effect of mixed seed sowing and flour blending on the uniformity of flour quality of Korean domestic wheat. Two wheat varieties (Keumkang and Baegjoong) were selected for sowing mixed seeds, and their growth characteristics and flour quality were analyzed. Quality of flour blending with the same varieties was also evaluated. The ratios for mixed seed sowing and flour blending were from 0 to 100% with a 10% increase of interval for each treatment. On increasing the portion of Baegjoong in mixed seed sowing, the heading time was a little delayed, however, yield increased. The results of the flour quality showed lower damaged starch content and sodium carbonate SRC (solvent retention capacity) value for Keumkang than for Baegjoong. Protein quantity by protein content and quality by SDSS (Sodium Dodecyle Sulfate-Sedimentation) volume, lactic acid SRC, and mixograph pattern of Keumkang were superior to those of Baegjoong. Compared with mixed seed sowing, overall quality characteristics of flours with different ratios showed predictable and proportional change by flour blending. This demonstrated the successful application of flour blending, compared with mixed seed sowing, for improving the uniformity of flour quality.

Background: Sowing seeds of Adenophora triphylla is known to be difficult owing to their small size and irregular seed shape. Therefore, this study was conducted to develop a seed pelleting technique to save labor during sowing. Methods and Results: To identify the optimal germination temperature for A. triphylla seeds, the temperature range was set from 17℃ to 32℃. Germination surveys were conducted in plastic greenhouse conditions in March, April, and May to determine the appropriate sowing time. The optimal germination temperature for A. triphylla seeds was 29℃ and May was the optimal sowing time in plastic greenhouse conditions. Covering materials for seed pelleting used talc (T), kaolin (K), calcium carbonate (C), and vermiculite (V). The pellet binder used agar (A), pectin, xanthan gum, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), and sodium alginate (S). The best suited treatment mixture were the best suited in kaolin / calcium carbonate / vermiculite (KCV), talc / calcium carbonate / vermiculite (TCV) mixture treatment for covering material, and sodium alginate (S), agar (A) as pellet binder, respectively. The germination rate was the best in TCV mixed with S. Conclusion: The mixture of TCV (2 : 1 : 3) + 1.5% S (TCVS), was found to be the best pelleting materials for A. triphylla seeds, and seed pelleting can be labor-saving during sowing.
In order to produce the organic foods in accord with international standard, organic seeds should be used in organic farming. This study was conducted to establish the stable production of organic seed of waxy com by examining the growing characteristics, seed yield, and the economy for seed production by organic farming. The optimal sowing timing for organic seed production of waxy com hybrid was within 10 days of the $1^{st}$ of May with yield of 88~90% of conventional seed production. The optimal planting density was 41,600 plants/ha ($80{\times}30$ cm) for organic seed production of waxy com. The weight of 100 seeds and seed productivity increased at the planting ratio of 2:1 mother plant:male plant. Growth and seed production were improved by removing male plant at 7~10 days after silking. Organic fertilizer (mixed oil cake) was applied at a rate of 4~6 Mg/ha before sowing. Black plastic mulching was used for weed control. In addition, sex pheromone trap and bio-control agents were used for safe pest control and low labour cost.

In attempt to avoid crop damage through wild bird's picking, this study was designed with aim to evaluate several pre-sowing soybean seed coatings for optimum yield in corn-soybean mixed forage. It was investigated under four cropping treatments, viz. 1) corn sole, 2) corn mixed with soybean without any coating, 3) corn with iron coated soybean and 4) corn with thiram coated soybean. Each treatment had three replicates and corn sole was control treatment. Pioneer (P1184) and crossbred ($PI483463{\times}Hutcheson$) seeds were used for corn and soybean, respectively. The trial was conducted under randomized block design from $5^{th}$ June to $23^{rd}$ September, 2015. Data were an alyzed through ANOVA technique using SAS9.1.3 software. Results depicted that survivability of soybean against wild birds damage was found better (p<0.05) in thiram coating which was higher than iron coating and control treatment but later on thiram coating had adverse effects on subsequent growth of soybean plants. Corn stalk height was decreased (p<0.05) in thiram coating, whereas corn ear height was reduced in iron coating treatment. Iron coating enhanced (p<0.05) height of soybean plant (p<0.05) better than that of thiram coating. Soybean seed coatings didn't influence dry matter yield and nutritive value in terms of total digestible nutrients yield in corn soybean mixed forage. Conclusively, although presowing thiram coating enhanced survivability of soybean plants against wild bird damage but had adverse effects on its subsequent growth. However, soybean seed coatings didn't influence yield and nutritive value of corn soybean intercropping forage.
Chickpea wilt caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. ciceris(FOC) is the most destructive disease in India. It is seed-borne as well as soil-borne pathogen. The role of seed-borne FOC in introducing and establishing wilt in FOC free soils is unknown. Using seeds of FOC infected chickpea cultivar K 850, we provided an evidence of establishing wilt disease in the FOC free soils within three crop cycles or seasons. In the first cycle, typical wilt symptoms were observed in 24 pots in 41 days after sowing. These 24 pots were used for second and third cycles without changing the soil. These 24 pots were sown with seeds collected from healthy plants of a susceptible cultivar JG 62, one seed per pot and development of wilt symptom was recorded. Wilt symptoms appeared in all the pots 26 days after sowing in second cycle and in 16 days after sowing in third cycle. On selective medium, all of the wilted plants yielded FOC in all the three cycles indicating that the mortality was due to wilt. FOC propagules on selective medium were 172, 1197, and 2280 $g^{-1}$ soil at the end of the first, second, and third cycles, respectively. These studies indicated that Fusarium wilt of chickpea is seed-borne and seeds harvested from wilted plants when mixed with healthy seeds can carry the wilt fungus to new areas and can establish the disease in the soil to economic threshold levels within three seasons.

This study was conducted to find optimum mixed sowing ratio of green manure crops to reduce the use of chemical fertilizer as well as to increase the crop yield potential which will foster the utilization of green manure crops in the upland field in view of environment friendly agriculture. According to the study, the mixed ratio, 50:50, of hairy vetch and green barley showed highest nitrogen production yield in the soil due to the relatively higher organic nitrogen supply from the hairy vetch plant as well as nitrogen fixation from the air rather than other mixed ratio. In the 50:50 mixed ratio of hairy vetch and green barely total nitrogen amount in the soil showed 17.2kg per 10a, but in the other treatment ratio such as 75:25, 25:75. total nitrogen fixation amount were 16.7, 16.9 respectively. We also conducted the experiment to compare the effect of the mixed sowing treatment of green manure crops on the production of corn cultivated as a succeeding plant of hairy vetch. According to the result, the mixed ratio, 50:50, of hairy vetch and green barley treatment showed highest yield potential of corn as 153kg per 10a in seed weight which is due to the relatively higher organic nitrogen supply from the hairy vetch plant as well as nitrogen fixation from the air rather than other mixed ratio. In the mixed sowing treatment of hairy vetch 100 and barley 0 ratio, the corn production showed 148kg per 10a which is 5kg lower than that of hairy vetch 50 and barley 50 ratio, but showed statistically no difference between those two treatment. Otherwise, different treatments, such as hairy vetch 75 and barley 25, 25 and 75, 0 and 100 showed statistically different each other. Therefore, it was concluded that green manure crops, such as hairy vetch, green barley and rye were very effective crops to increase the soil fertility and gave the positive effect to the crops to give vegetative and propagative growth condition and, in turn, increased the yield potential. We have to make policy to enhance the utility of green manure crops in the upland crops as well as faddy field for the soil fertility and crop yield production which will guarantee prominent quality of environment friendly agriculture products.

This experiment was conducted to study on application of several Korean native plants by seed spray methods for cut slope revegetation, and possibility of replacement almost imported tall fescue seeds by native herbaceous plants. So, we investigated growth and covering rate after sowing native plants seeds at the artificial slope plots in Suwon and the rock exposed cut-slopes in Wonju city. Emergence rate after seed spray at artificial slopes were higher Elsholtzia splendens and Dianthus superbus var. longicalycinus, showing the highest in E. splendens. Also, E. splendens, D. superbus var. longicalycinus, and Agrostemma coronaria were possible to use for seed spray at the rock exposed cut-slopes. The plots of mixed native plants show more seasonal scenery than that of tall fescue. Soil surface run-off by Typhoon was less in plot sown native plants than those of lawn grass, resulting fresh weight of roots was heavier. Thus, we found that the mixed seed spray of several native herbaceous plants, E. splendens, D. superbus var. longicalycinus, and Agrostemma coronaria, were well covered the slopes as tall fescue.

Cultivation of high-quality forage crop by using fallow field during winter is required for national high feed self-sufficiency and establishment of self-supply system of high-quality forage crop. Field experiments for cultivation of high-quality winter forage crop were conducted at the paddy and upland fields in Cheonan and Anseong city with treatments of single Italian ryegrass(IRG) and IRG mixed with forage barley at the paddy field and of single forage barley and forage barley mixed with IRG at the upland field in the Mid-west plain. Several cultivation conditions such as broadcasting IRG seed under standing rice, sowing time, tillage method, drainage condition, mixed sowing with forage barley were compared to know the change of growth, yield and quality of winter forage crop. In particular, over-wintering rate and dry matter yield were decreased significantly in late-sown IRG and moisture-stressed forage barley. Yield and quality of forage crops were increased by sowing after tillage, mixed sowing of IRG with barley at the paddy field with good drainage. High yield as much as dry matter $10MT\;ha^{-1}$ with high feed value could be obtained by early sowing of feed barley mixed with IRG at the upland field. Cultivation conditions such as early sowing, sowing after tillage, drainage management are required for higher dry matter yield, quality and stable cultivation of winter forage crops in the mid-west plain of Korea.

Seeds of chicory were collected and selected with good germination, emergence and productivity. To develop chicory as a new forage crop seeds were primed with polyethylene glycol (PEG 6000) and coated with some chemicals, and tested in laboratory and field. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. Among the seed lines collected, PUlgAH, PU21TH, PU37CH and PU30TK were germinated more quickly and took less time for germination than the others. 2. PUI8AH was the best in emergence and growth although PU21TH showed superior germinative ability among the lines collected. 3. Chicory seeds primed with 20~25% PEG solution for three days at $10^{\circ}C$, or the seeds treated with 25% PEG solution at $15^{\circ}C$ regardless the treatment period showed good germination performances. 4. Osmotic priming with PEG accelerated the germination of chicory, but not in the field. 5. Coated seeds geminated more slowly in Petridishes but showed superior emergence and growth to those of primed or untreated seeds. Treatment 3 showed the best performances in pot experiment. 6. Coated seeds showed remarkable increase in establishment and dry matter yield especially in sod sowing compared to the other sowing method. 7. Most nutrient contents except iron and manganese of chicory were much higher than those of mixed pasture .
