Microencapsulated PCM particles are mixed with distilled water and utilized to evaluate its characteristics and performance as a thermal storage medium transporting heat. For the present study, tetradecane(C$_14H_30, T_m=5.5^{\circ}C$) is capsulated in the core with the melamine of its surface. The size of particles is well-controlled under 10${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in the way of in-situ polymerization with melamine-formaldehyde resin. For the experiment, the concentrations of slurries are prepared for 20wt%, 30wt%, and 40wt%. The results are compared with those of water and 100% tetradecane oil. The pure water and tetradecane start solidifying within 20 minutes after introducing cooling water into the thermal storage tank whose tank whose flow rates are varied by 125cc/min, 250cc/min, and 500cc/min. However, MicroPCM slurries are required relatively longer period of time for their phase change than pure phase change materials. That is, the entrained MicroPCM particles control its heat transfer in terms of natural convection and conducting to them.

This paper examined the MHD and thermal behavior of unsteady mixed convection flow of a rotating fluid in a porous parallel plate channel in the presence of Hall current and heat source. The exact solutions of the concentration, energy and momentum equations are obtained. The influence of each governing parameter on non dimensional velocity, temperature, concentration, skin friction coefficient, rate of heat transfer and rate of mass transfer at the porous parallel plate channel surfaces is discussed. During the course of numerical computation, it is observed that as Hall current parameter and Soret number at the porous channel surfaces increases, the primary and secondary velocity profiles are increases while the primary and secondary skin friction coefficients are increases at the cold wall and decreases at the heated wall. In particular, it is noticed that a reverse trend in case of heat source parameter.

The impulse of this paper is to examine the influence of unsteady flow comprising of Eyring-Powell nanofluid over a stretched surface. This work aims to explore efficient transfer of heat in Eyring-Powell nanofluid with bio-convection. Nanofluids possess significant features that have aroused various investigators because of their utilization in industrial and nanotechnology. The influence of including motile microorganism is to stabilize the nanoparticle suspensions develop by the mixed influence of magnetic field and buoyancy force. This research paper reveals the detailed information about the linearly compressed Magnetohydrodynamics boundary layer flux of two dimensional Eyring-Powell nanofluid through disposed surface area due to the existence of microorganism with inclusion the influence of non- linear thermal radiation, energy activation and bio-convection. The liquid is likely to allow conduction and thickness of the liquid is supposed to show variation exponentially. By using appropriate similarity type transforms, the nonlinear PDE's are converted into dimensionless ODE's. The results of ODE's are finally concluded by employing (HAM) Homotopy Analysis approach. The influence of relevant parameters on concentration, temperature, velocity and motile microorganism density are studied by the use of graphs and tables. We acquire skin friction, local Nusselt and motil microorganism number for various parameters.

In this paper, analysis of critical fluid velocity and heat transfer in the nanocomposite pipes conveying nanofluid is presented. The pipe is reinforced by carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and the fluid is mixed by $AL_2O_3$ nanoparticles. The material properties of the nanocomposite pipe and nanofluid are considered temperature-dependent and the structure is subjected to magnetic field. The forces of fluid viscosity and turbulent pressure are obtained using momentum equations of fluid. Based on energy balance, the convection of inner and outer fluids, conduction of pipe and heat generation are considered. For mathematical modeling of the nanocomposite pipes, the first order shear deformation theory (FSDT) and energy method are used. Utilizing the Lagrange method, the coupled pipe-nanofluid motion equations are derived. Applying a semi-analytical method, the motion equations are solved for obtaining the critical fluid velocity and critical Reynolds and Nusselt numbers. The effects of CNTs volume percent, $AL_2O_3$ nanoparticles volume percent, length to radius ratio of the pipe and shell surface roughness were shown on the critical fluid velocity, critical Reynolds and Nusselt numbers. The results are validated with other published work which shows the accuracy of obtained results of this work. Numerical results indicate that for heat generation of $Q=10MW/m^3$, adding 6% $AL_2O_3$ nanoparticles to the fluid increases 20% the critical fluid velocity and 15% the Nusselt number which can be useful for heat exchangers.
The interaction between the surface radiation and the mixed convection transport from an isolated thermal source, with a uniform surface heat flux input and located in a rectangular enclosure, is stuied numerically. The enclosure simulates a practical system such an air cooled electric device, where an air-stream flows through the openings on the two vertical walls. The heat source represents an electric component located in such an enclosure. The size of this cavity is $0.1[m]{\times}0.1[m]$. The inlet velocity is assumed as 0.07[m/s] and the inlet temperature is maintained as $27^{\circ}C$. The inflow is kept at a fixed position. Laminar, two dimensional flow is assumed, and the problem lies in the mixed convection regime, governed by buoyancy force and surface readiation. The significant variables include the location of the out-flow opening, of the heat source and the wall emissivity. The basic nature of the resulting interaction betwwn the externally induced air stream and the buoyancy-driven flow generated by the source is investigated. As a result, the best location of the heat source to make the active heat transfer is 0.075[m] from the left wall on the floor. The trends observed are also discussed in terms of heat removal from practical systems such as electric circuitry.

This paper assesses the prediction performance of explicit algebraic stress and heat-flux models for reduction of heat transfer coefficient in a strongly-heated vertical tube. Two explicit algebraic stress models and four explicit algebraic heat-flux models are selected for assessment. Eight combinations of explicit algebraic stress and heat-flux models are used in predicting the turbulent gas flows with intense heating, which yields the significant property-variation. The results showed that the two combinations of GS-AKN and WJ-mAKN predicted the Nusselt number and the axial wall temperature variations well and that the predictions of Nusselt number with WJ-combinations spread in a wider range than those with Gs-combinations. WJ is the explicit algebraic stress model of Wallin and Johansson and GS is the model of Gatski and Speziale and that AKN is the explicit heat-flux model of Abe, Kondoh and Nagano and mAKN is the modified AKN.

The interaction of mixed convection and surface radiation in a printed circuit board(PCB) is investigated numerically. The electronic equipment is modeled by a two-dimensional channel with three hot blocks. In order to calculate the turbulent flow characteristics, the low Reynolds number k-.epsilon. model which is proposed by Launder and Sharma is applied. The S-4 approximation is used to solve the radiative transfer equation. The effects of the Reynolds number and geometric configuration variation of PCB on the flow and heat transfer characteristics are analyzed. As the results of this study, it is found that the thermal boundary layer occured at adiabatic wall in case with thermal radiation included, and the effect of radiation is also found to be insignificant for high Reynolds numbers. It is found, as well, that the heat transfer increases as the Reynolds number and block space increase and the channel height decreases and the heat transfer of vertical channel is greater than that of horizontal channel.

The effect of the interactive flow on convective heat transfer from two vertical isothermal parallel plates have been studied numerically by the finite difference method. The Reynolds number, Grashof number, the relative length, L$_{2}$/L$_{1}$, and the dimensionless plate spacing, b/L$_{1}$ are varied as parameters. In case of outside mean Nusselt number, left outside mean Nusselt numbers show same values as L$_{2}$/L$_{1}$ and b/L$_{1}$ increase, but right outside mean Nusselt numbers decrease as L$_{2}$/L$_{1}$ increases. The inside mean Nusselt numbers are constant at narrow spacings and increase at wide spacings as Grashof numbers increase. The optimun plate spacing on left inside mean Nusselt numbers is b/L$_{1}$=0.4 at Re=100 and b/L$_{1}$=0.3 at Re=200. For the right inside mean Nusselt number, the optimum plate spacings move to the narrow spacing as Reynolds numbers increase and L$_{2}$/L$_{1}$ decrease.

Objectives: The objective of this paper is to find flow and heat transfer characteristics numerically in boiler buildings for three different ventilation window configurations. Methods: Turbulent natural convection flow in boiler buildings with a constant heating wall temperature was analyzed numerically. Governing equations were solved with standard finite-volume method using the SIMPLE algorithm. Conclusions: Flow and heat transfer characteristics are found for three different ventilation types. In the lower area under furnace, velocity and temperature distributions show similar patterns among the three different ventilation types. In the upper area over furnace, however, air flow is well mixed with lower peak temperatures for types B and C, which have roof ventilation windows, compared to type A which has side wall louvers only. Also, type B, with a single large roof window, shows better ventilation effect than does type C with its distribution roof windows.

The combined convective heat transfer from vertical parallel plates with constant temperature has been studied by numerical method. The governing equations for the system are solved by the finite difference method and successive over relaxation scheme for Re$_{L}$ = 50 - 500, Gr = 10$^{4}$, Pr = 0.7. Results for various plate spacings and plate lengths are as follows ; For various plate spacings, the mean Nusselt number increases and then decreases as the dimensionless plate spacing increases. The optimum plate spacing for maximum mean Nusselt number decreases with increasing Reynolds number and can be expressed as a function of Reynolds number. For various plate lengths, the mean plate Nudest number increases as the dimensionless plate length decreases and Reynolds number increases.
