PMMA/PVDF 화합물의 물성 및 광학적 성질 (Physical and Optical Properties of PMMA/PVDF Blends)

  • Hot embossing 공정을 이용하여 광도파로 소자를 제조하기 위하여 polymethylmeth-acrylate (PMMA)와 polyvinylidenefluoride (PVDF)를 용융 혼합하여 물리적 성질과 광학적 특성을 조사하였다. PMMA/PVDF 혼합물의 유리전이온도 ($T_g$)는 PVDF의 함량이 증가할수록 감소하였다. 하지만 PVDF의 결정은 관찰되지 않았다. PMMA와 비교적 적은 양인 PVDF간의 분자수준의 상호작용에 기인하는 혼화성에 의하여 $T_g$는 감소하고 PVDF의 결정화를 방해하여 무정형성을 유지하는 것으로 판단되었다. PMMA/PVDF 혼합물의 전단점도는 PMMA와 PVDF 사이에서 나타나며 PMMA와 PVDF 사이의 상용성에 의해 PVDF의 함량이 증가할수록 감소하였다. PVDF의 함량이 증가할수록 불소분자의 첨가에 의한 분자의 분극률이 저하되어 혼합물의 굴절률과 흡수손실은 감소하고 투과율은 증가하였다.

In Situ Detection of the Onset of Phase Separation and Gelation in Epoxy/Anhydride/Thermoplastic Blends

  • The isothermal cure reactions of blends of epoxy (DGEBA, diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A)/anhydride resin with polyamide copolymer (poly(dimmer acid-co-alkyl polyamine)) or PEI were studied using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Rheological measurements have been made to investigate the viscosity and mechanical relaxation behavior of the blends. The reaction rate and the final cure conversion were decreased with increasing the amount of thermoplastics in the blends. Lower values of final cure conversions in the epoxy/thermoplastic blends indicate that thermoplastics hinder the cure reaction between the epoxy and the curing agent. Complete miscibility was observed in the uncured blends of epoxy/thermoplastics up to $120^{\circ}C$ but phase separations occurred in the early stages of the curing process at higher temperatures than $120^{\circ}C$. According to the rheological measurement results, a rise of G' and G" at the onset of phase separation is seen. A rise of G' and G" is not observed for neat epoxy system since no phase separation is seen during cure reaction. At the onset of phase separation the rheological behavior was influenced by the amount of thermoplastics in the epoxy/thermoplastic blends, and the onset of phase separation can be detected by rheological measurements.

  • 본 연구에서는 폴리우레탄을 위한 친환경 폴리올 합성을 위하여 피마자유 기반의 폴리올을 합성하였다. 피마자유의 2차 알콜에 다른 촉매 없이 무수말레산을 이용하여 카르복실기를 도입하고, 이를 1차 알콜로 전환하기 위하여 아미노알콜($H_2N$-R-OH) 유도체를 반응시켜 친환경 폴리올을 제조하였다. 다양한 비율의 피마자유와 무수말레산의 반응이 시험 되었으며, 전체 반응은 상대적으로 낮은 공정온도와 무촉매 반응을 기반으로 수행되었다. 긴 곁가지가 도입되어 유동성을 가지고 있는 피마자유 기반의 천연폴리올이 기존의 합성폴리올과 가장 우수한 상용성을 나타내었다.

  • It is generally accepted that ultra low dielectric interlayer dielectric materials (k < 2.2) will be necessary for ULSI advanced microelectronic devices after 2003, according to the International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors (ITRS) 2000. A continuous reduction of dielectric constant is believed to be possible only by incorporating nanopores filled with air (k = 1.0) into electrically insulating matrices such as poly(methyl silsesquioxane) (PMSSQ). The nanopo.ous low dielectric films should have excellent material properties to survive severe mechanical stress conditions imposed during the advanced semiconductor processes such as chemical mechanical planarization process and multilayer fabrication. When air is incorporated into the films for lowering k, their mechanical strength has inevitably to be sacrificed. To minimize this effect, the nanopores are controlled to exist in the film as closed cells. The micromechanical properties of the nanoporous thin films are considered more seriously than ever, particularly for ultra low dielectric applications. In this study, three approaches were made to design and develop nanoporous low dielectric films with improved micromechanical properties: 1) wall density increase of nanoporous organosilicate film by copolymerization of carbon bridged comonomers; 2) incorporation of sacrificial phases with good miscibility; 3) selective surface modification by plasma treatment. Nanoporous low-k films were prepared with copolymerized PMSSQ and star-shaped sacrificial organic molecules, both of which were synthesized to control molecular weight and functionality. The nanoporous structures of the films were observed using field emission scanning electron microscopy, cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, and positronium annihilation lifetime spectroscopy(PALS). Micromechanical characterization was performed using a nanoindentor to measure hardness and modulus of the films.

Deformation Behavior and Nucleation Activity of a Thermotropic Liquid­Crystalline Polymer in Poly(butylene terephthalate)-Based Composites

  • Polymer composites based on a thermotropic liquid-crystalline polymer (TLCP) and poly(butylene terephthalate) (PBT) were prepared using a melt blending process. Polymer composites consisting of bulk cheap polyester with a small quantity of expensive TLCP are of interest from a commercial perspective. The interactions between the PBT chains and the flexible poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) units in the TLCP phase resulted in an improvement in the compatibility of PBT/TLCP composites. TLCP droplets deformed and fragmented into smaller droplets in the PBT/TLCP composites, which resulted in TLCP fibrillation through the effective deformation of the TLCP droplets. The nucleation activities of the PBT/TLCP composites increased by adding even a small amount of the TLCP component.

압축기 작동압력 범위에서 $CO_2$/오일 시스템의 기-액 상평형 실험 (Experimental Vapor-Liquid Equilibra for $CO_2/Oil$ Systems in the Range of Compressor Working Pressure)

  • An experimental apparatus was constructed to obtain vapor-liquid equilibrium data for $CO_2/oil$ mixtures using mass analysis method with sample cylinder. Lubricants employed were POE (poly-ol ester) and PAG (poly alkylene glycol). The phase equilibria of $CO_2/oil$ mixtures prevailed in an equilibrium cell were observed through a couple of sight glasses at the opposite ends. Data were obtained over the temperatures $-10^{\circ}C,\;-5^{\circ}C,\;0^{\circ}C,\;5^{\circ}C,\;10^{\circ}C,\;25^{\circ}C,\;40^{\circ}C,\;60^{\circ}C,\;and\;80^{\circ}C$ under pressures up to 14 MPa and then mole fractions were calculated, respectively In general, more solubility of $CO_2$ is observed in POE than in PAG. Miscibility gap is closed for $CO_2/POE$ mixture but not for $CO_2/PAG$.

냉동기유 주입량과 냉매 충진량에 따른 냉동기 성능 평가 (Effects of Refrigerant and Oil Charges on the Performance of an Refrigeration System)

  • In this study, effects of refrigerant and oil charges on the performance of a refrigeration system simulating an automobile air conditioner have been experimentally investigated using R134a and PAG oil. Measurements were taken in a breadboard type refrigeration test unit with a compressor used for a commercial automobile air-conditioner under a set of condition imposed upon normally to automobile air conditioners. Both the COP and capacity decreased rapidly as the oil charge increased because of the decrease in vapor pressure of the circulating refrigerant/oil mixture. The excess oil left in the evaporator also caused heat transfer degradation resulting in a decrease in capacity and in turn COP. It was found that there is an optimum refrigerant charge at which the COP becomes the maximum. Below this optimum charge, both the capacity and COP increased as the refrigerant charge increased and above the optimum charge, both of them remained almost constant. Hence, the COP seems to be the most important factor in determining the optimum refrigerant charge. When the system was undercharged, the refrigerant at the condenser exit lost subcooling and showed a sign of poor miscibility.

  • 동종 혹은 이종의 고분자를 레이저로 접착시키는 방법은 레이저 접착이 가지는 장점들로 인해 많은 산업분야에서 광범위하게 사용되고 있다. 산업적으로 많이 사용되는 폴리프로필렌(PP)과 폴리카보네이트(PC)가 레이저 투과용접이 가능하다면 자동차 헤드램프에 큰 이점을 갖고 적용할 수 있을 것이다. 하지만, 폴리프로필렌과 폴리카보네이트는 상용성이 낮아 레이저 접착을 시켜도 강도가 낮은 문제점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 반응압출을 통해 폴리프로필렌을 글리시딜메타크릴레이트(GMA)로 개질하고, 폴리카보네이트와의 상용성, 기계적 물성 및 레이저 투과 용접을 통해 접착성을 조사하였다.

Cu-Zr-Ag계 비정질 합금의 불혼화 영역이 구조 및 소성에 미치는 영향 (Miscibility Gap in Cu-Zr-Ag Alloy System and its Effect on the Structure and Plasticity of Metallic Glass)

  • In the present study, we show that the addition of Ag, an element having a positive enthalpy of mixing with Cu in the liquid state, enables the simultaneous enhancement of the glass forming ability and the plasticity in Cu-Zr-Ag bulk metallic glasses (BMGs). Rods of 4 mm diameter could be prepared with a fully amorphous structure and values of plastic strain up to 18% were measured under a compression mode for compositions around $Cu_{42.5}Zr_{47.5}Ag_{10}$. The possible role of Ag in the change of the atomic structure and the enhancement of the plastic strain in the ternary Cu-Zr-Ag BMGs is discussed based on analyses from transmission electron microscopy and EXAFS (extended X-ray absorption fine structure).

제지공장의 폐수처리에 사용되는 실리콘계 소포제의 제조 및 물성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Properties and Preparation of Silicon-based Defoamer Used in the Purification of Wasted-Water Extruded in the Paper-Fabrication)

  • 폴리올, 실리콘 수지, 변성 실리콘 수지 등을 유화제로 유화시켜 수용성 소포제를 제조하였다. 제조한 소포제에 대하여 소포성, 상분리 시간, 점도 등을 측정하였다. PPG 혼합물의 상분리 시간은 PPG 400>PPG 3000>PPG 1000이었다. PPG 1000을 혼합하였을 때는 다른 것에 비하여 뛰어난 소포성을 나타내었다. 실리콘 수지 혼합물의 상분리 시간은 TSF-451-350>TSF-451-200>TSF-451-50이었다. TSF-451-50을 혼합하였을 때는 상용성 부족으로 혼합물의 부피가 증가되었다. 고분자량의 실리콘 수지를 사용할수록 소포성은 좋지 않았다. 변성 실리콘 수지는 물에 잘 분산되었지만 폴리올에 대한 상용성은 좋지 않았다. 유화제에 대한 소포성은 SPAN 20>SPAN 60>SPAN 80의 순이었다. SPAN 80은 실리콘 수지에 대하여 혼합성이 좋지 않았지만 YAS 6406이나 PPG 1000에 대해서는 좋은 혼합성을 나타내었다.
