  • Because of complex aliasing, nonregular designs have traditionally been used for screening only main effects. However, complex aliasing actually may allow some interactions entertained and estimated without making additional runs. According to hierarchical principle, the minimum aberration has been used as an important criterion for selecting regular fractional factorial designs. The criterion is not applicable to nonregular designs. In this paper, we give a criterion for choosing fractional factorial designs based on the fan theory. The criterion is focused on the partial ordering given by set inclusion on estimable sets which is called leaves.

  • In this paper, several different fracture criteria using the Eftis and Subramanian's stress solutions [1] are compared with the printed experimental results under different loading conditions. The analytical results of using the solution with non-singular term show better than without non-singular in comparison with the experimental data. And maximum tangential stress criterion (MTS) and maximum tangential strain energy density criterion (MTSE) can get useful results for several loading conditions.

  • The minimum aberration criterion is commonly used for selecting good fractional factorial designs. In this paper we give same necessary conditions for $3^{n-k}$ fractional factorial designs. We obtain minimum aberration $3^{n-k}$ designs for k = 2 and any n. For k > 2, minimum aberration designs have not found yet. As an alternative, we select a design with minimum aberration among minimum-variance designs.

  • This paper treats a robust design criterion which minimizes the effects of outliers and model inadequacy, and investigates robust designs for some response surface designs. In order to develop a robust design criterion and robust design, the integrated mean squared error of *(equation omitted) over a region is utilized, where *(equation omitted). is the estimated response by the minimum bias estimation proposed by carson, Manson and Hader (1969) . According to the number of aberrant observations and their positions, the proposed criterion and designs are studied. Also further development of the proposed criterion is treated when outliers can occur in any position of a design.

  • Real-time hybrid simulation (RTHS) is a promising cyber-physical technique used in the experimental evaluation of civil infrastructure systems subject to dynamic loading. In RTHS, the response of a structural system is simulated by partitioning it into physical and numerical substructures, and coupling at the interface is achieved by enforcing equilibrium and compatibility in real-time. The choice of partitioning parameters will influence the overall success of the experiment. In addition, due to the dynamics of the transfer system, communication and computation delays, the feedback force signals are dependent on the system state subject to delay. Thus, the transfer system dynamics must be accommodated by appropriate actuator controllers. In light of this, guidelines should be established to facilitate successful RTHS and clearly specify: (i) the minimum requirements of the transfer system control, (ii) the minimum required sampling frequency, and (iii) the most effective ways to stabilize an unstable simulation due to the limitations of the available transfer system. The objective of this paper is to establish a stability switch criterion due to systematic experimental errors. The RTHS stability switch criterion will provide a basis for the partitioning and design of successful RTHS.

  • In this paper, when the initial propagation angle of a branched crack is calculated from the maximum tangential stress criterion (MTSC) and the minimum strain energy density criterion (MSEDC), it is essential that you use stress components in which higher order terms are considered and stress components at the position in a distance 0.005㎜ from the crack tip (=r). When an interfacial crack propagates along the interface at a constant velocity, the initial propagation angles of the branched crack are similar. to the mode mixities (phase angle) and the theoretical values obtained from MTSC and MSEDC. The initial propagation angle of the branched crack depends considerably on the stress intensity factor K$_2$.

  • Characteristics of solutions of softening plasticity are discussed in this article. The localized and non-localized solutions are obtained for a three-bar truss and their stability is evaluated with the aid of the second-order work. Beyond the bifurcation point, the single stable loading path splits into several post-bifurcation paths and the second-order work exhibits several competing minima. Among the multiple post-bifurcation equilibrium states, the localized solutions correspond to the minimum points of the second-order work, while the non-localized solutions correspond to the saddles and local maximum points. To determine the real post-bifurcation path, it is proposed that the structure should follow the path corresponding to the absolute minimum point of the second-order work. The proposal is further proved equivalent to Bazant's path criterion derived on a thermodynamics basis.

  • Living infrastructure facilities are concentrated in cities with high population density, it is necessary to supply basic living infrastructure facilities to promote welfare in rural areas. The establishment of basic living infrastructure is the minimum right for daily living of local residents. It is supplied by considering national economic and social characteristics through national minimum standards, but it is limited to be practically applied to rural areas where many villages are dispersed in large areas. There is a situation. Therefore, it is necessary to supply systematic and quantitative facilities by analyzing villages that do not meet the minimum standards of basic living infrastructure in rural areas and by considering their characteristics. The purpose of this study is to identify the basic living infrastructure facilities of village units and analyze the characteristics of each village for Boeun-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do.

  • In a general fractional factorial design, the n-levels of a factor are coded by the $n^{th}$ roots of the unity. Pistone and Rogantin (2007) gave a full generalization to mixed-level designs of the theory of the polynomial indicator function using this device. This article discusses the optimal blocking scheme for nonregular designs. According to hierarchical principle, the minimum aberration (MA) has been used as an important criterion for selecting blocked regular fractional factorial designs. MA criterion is mainly based on the defining contrast groups, which only exist for regular designs but not for nonregular designs. Recently, Cheng et al. (2004) adapted the generalized (G)-MA criterion discussed by Tang and Deng (1999) in studying $2^p$ optimal blocking scheme for nonregular factorial designs. The approach is based on the method of replacement by assigning $2^p$ blocks the distinct level combinations in the column with different blocks. However, when blocking level is not a power of two, we have no clue yet in any sense. As an example, suppose we experiment during 3 days for 12-run Plackett-Burman design. How can we arrange the 12-runs into the three blocks? To solve the problem, we apply G-MA criterion to nonregular mixed-level blocked scheme via the mixed-level indicator function and give an answer for the question.
