Microbiological cleaning and disinfection efficacy of a three-stage ultrasonic processing protocol for CAD-CAM implant abutments

  • PURPOSE. Computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD-CAM) of implant abutments has been shown to result in surface contamination from site-specific milling and fabrication processes. If not removed, these contaminants can have a potentially adverse effect and may trigger inflammatory responses of the peri-implant tissues. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the bacterial disinfection and cleaning efficacy of ultrasonic reprocessing in approved disinfectants to reduce the microbial load of CAD-CAM abutments. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Four different types of custom implant abutments (total N = 32) with eight specimens in each test group (type I to IV) were CAD-CAM manufactured. In two separate contamination experiments, specimens were contaminated with heparinized sheep blood alone and with heparinized sheep blood and the test bacterium Enterococcus faecium. Abutments in the test group were processed according to a three-stage ultrasonic protocol and assessed qualitatively and quantitatively by determination of residual protein. Ultrasonicated specimens contaminated with sheep blood and E. faecium were additionally eluted and the dilutions were incubated on agar plates for seven days. The determined bacterial counts were expressed as colony-forming units (CFU). RESULTS. Ultrasonic reprocessing resulted in a substantial decrease in residual bacterial protein to less than 80 ㎍ and a reduction in microbiota of more than 7 log levels of CFU for all abutment types, exceeding the effect required for disinfection. CONCLUSION. A three-stage ultrasonic cleaning and disinfection protocol results in effective bacterial decontamination. The procedure is reproducible and complies with the standardized reprocessing and disinfection specifications for one- or two-piece CAD-CAM implant abutments.

타이타늄 밀링/터닝 스크랩의 절삭공구 소재화 (Chipped Titanium Scraps as Raw Materials for Cutting Tools)

  • 밀링 및 터닝 가공 중 발생되는 칩 형태 타이타늄 스크랩을 세라믹스 원료로 활용하기 위한 연구를 수행하였다. 우선, 칩 형태 타이타늄 스크랩에 포함되어 있는 다량의 절삭유와 철 성분 제거를 위해 유기세정 및 산 세정 과정을 거쳐 스크랩 표면 세척을 진행하였다. 아세톤과 질산을 사용한 세정 과정을 통해 스크랩 내 유기물과 철 함량은 5 wt.% 수준에서 0.07 wt.% 이하로 감소하는 것을 확인하였고 세정에 이어진 산화 과정을 통해 타이타늄 스크랩은 이산화타이타늄화 되었다. 타이타늄 스크랩의 이산화타이타늄화 과정은 800 ℃ 이상의 온도에서 이루어졌으며 이산화타이타늄은 고에너지 밀링 과정을 통해 나노 결정립으로 미세화되어 탄소에 의한 환원 및 탄화 반응은 기존 이산화타이타늄 탄화환원 온도인 1500 ℃보다 낮은 1200 ℃에서 가능하게 되었다. 이산화타이타늄 탄화환원을 통해 얻어지는 타이타늄 탄화물은 질소 및 타이타늄 이외 전이금속 원소의 첨가 및 고용을 통해 물성이 개선될 수 있었다. 타이타늄 탄화물 내 질소 첨가 및 고용상 형성 가능성은 열역학 계산을 통해 예측되었고 질소 첨가 및 전이금속 고용에 의해 타이타늄 탄화물의 특성 중 경도 및 파괴인성 제어가 가능하였다.

Assessment of effect of accelerated aging on interim fixed dental materials using digital technologies

  • PURPOSE. This study assessed the physical and mechanical properties of interim crown materials fabricated using various digital techniques after accelerated aging. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Three groups of interim dental restorative materials (N = 20) were tested. The first group (CO) was fabricated using a conventional manual method. The second group (ML) was prepared from prefabricated resin blocks for the milling method and cut into specimen sizes using a cutting disc. The third group (3D) was additively manufactured using a digital light-processing (DLP) 3D printer. Aging acceleration treatments using toothbrushing and thermocycling simulators were applied to half of the specimens corresponding to three years of usage in the oral environment (N = 10). Surface roughness (Ra), Vickers microhardness, 3-point bending, sorption, and solubility tests were performed. A 2-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Fisher's multiple comparison test were used to compare the results among the groups. RESULTS. The mean surface roughness (Ra) of the resin after accelerated aging was significantly higher in the CO and ML groups than that before aging, but not in the 3D group. All groups showed reduced hardness after accelerated aging. The flexural strength values were highest in the 3D group, followed by the ML and CO groups after accelerated aging. Accelerated aging significantly reduced water sorption in the ML group. CONCLUSION. According to the tested material and 3D printer type, both 3D-printed and milled interim restoration resins showed higher flexural strength and modulus, and lower surface roughness than those prepared by the conventional method after accelerated aging.

  • 미곡(米穀)의 안전건조(安全乾燥)와 건조시간(乾燥時間)을 단축(短縮)시킬 수 있는 건조기(乾燥機)를 개발(開發)하기 위하여 2.5ton 규모(規模)의 태양열집열송풍(太陽熱集熱送風), 곡물순환식(穀物循環式), 건조기(乾燥機)를 제작(製作)하여 상온송풍식(常溫送風式)과 비교(比較) 시험(試驗)을 실시(實施)한 결과(結果)는 다음과 같다. 1. 태양열집열송풍(太陽熱集熱送風), 곡물순환식(穀物循環式) 건조기(乾燥機)에 송풍(送風)되는 공기(空氣)의 온도(溫度)는 외기온도(外氣溫度) 및 상온송기식(常溫送氣式) 건조기(乾燥機)에 송풍(送風)되는 공기(空氣)의 온도(溫度) 보다 $4{\sim}5^{\circ}C$ 높았다. 2. 벼 건조기간중(乾燥期間中) 건조기내(乾燥機內)의 부위별(部位別) 수분함량(水分含量)은 상온송풍식(常溫送風式) 건조기내(乾燥機內)에서는 차(差)가 극심하였으나 태양열집열송풍(太陽熱集熱送風), 곡물순환식(穀物循環式) 건조기내(乾燥機內)에서는 차(差)가 거의 없었다. 3. 수분함량(水分含量) 24%의 벼를 15%까지 건조(乾燥)시키는데 상온송풍(常溫送風) 건조(乾燥)로는 14일(日) 정도(程度) 소요(所要)되었으나 태양열집열송풍(太陽熱集熱送風), 곡물순환식(穀物循環式) 건조기(乾燥機)로는 3일(日) 정도(程度) 소요(所要)되었다. 4. 상온송풍(常溫送風) 건조기(乾燥機)로 건조(乾燥)한 벼의 동할립율(胴割粒率)은 상부(上部), 중부(中部), 하부(下部)가 각각 6, 6 및 12%로 건조기내(乾燥機內)의 부위별(部位別)로 차(差)가 있었으나 태양열집열송풍(太陽熱集熱送風), 곡물순환식(穀物循環式) 건조기(乾燥機)로 건조(乾燥)한 벼는 모든 부위(部位)가 7%로 부위별(部位別)로 차(差)가 없었다. 5. 벼 건조기간(乾燥期間) 중(中) 에너지 (energy) 소요량(所要量)은 상온송풍식(常溫送風式) 건조기(乾燥機)는 108Kw/2.5ton인데 비(比)하여 태양열집열송풍(太陽熱集熱送風), 곡물순환식(穀物循環式) 건조기(乾燥機)는 28.8Kw/2.5ton이었다.

조합식(組合式) 정백(精白)시스템의 설계(設計) 및 작동인자(作動因子)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究)(II) -작동기준(作動基準) 설정(設定)- (A Study on Design and Operational Factors of Rice Whitening Systems Consisting of Abrasive and Frictional Whiteners -Operational Criteria-)

  • Operation of rice whiteners has been depending on operator's experience only and very limitted data are available for operational criteria of rice whiteners in Korea. With developments of new rice varieties and with a tendency of automation of machine operations for precision control, operational criteria depending on physical characteristics of rice grains arc required for an improvement of milled rice recovery and the performance of rice whitening systems. An experimental study was conducted to identify operational criteria of a rice whitening system consisted with an abrasive-aerated whitener developed newly and a frictional-aerated whitener being used commercially. Further, comparisons were made between the performance of the rice whitening system adopted for this study and a commercial system used in small scale milling plants. Results of this study are summarized as follows: 1. Total number of passes necessary for the final white rice in the combined whitening system depended exclusively on the counter pressure level of the frictional whitener successive to the abrasive whitener. 2. The counter pressure required for whitening Japonica type rice variety (Akibare) was higher by about 1.6 times than that for Japonica type (Pung-san), when other conditions were kept at the same. 3. Radial pressure in the whitening chamber of the frictional whitener should be maintained between 1.5 to $2.1kg/cm^2$ for the completion of whitening within 5 to 3 passes regardless of rice varieties. Hence, it was found that the radial pressure in the whitening chamber could be used as an operational criteria to control the counter pressure level. 4. The following regression equation was found between radial pressure($R_p$) in whitening chamber and electric power consumption of the whitening system: $$EPC=-0.545\;R^2_p+1.277\;R_p+0.874[KWH/100kg]$$ 5. The following multiple regression equation was found among radial pressure ($R_p$), counter pressure ($C_p$), and bioyield point ($B_i$), length (L) and width (W) of brown rice. $$R_p/(B_i/W^2)=0.547\{C_p/(B_i/W^2)\}^{0.365}(L/W)^{0.120}(R^2=0.9897)$$ 6. The milled rice recovery and machine efficiency (kg/KWH) from the combined whitening system were higher by about 2.0% point and by 15 to 27% point than those from the conventional system, respectively.

상용급 석탄가스화플랜트 최적설계에 관한 연구 (A study on the engineering optimization for the commercial scale coal gasification plant)

  • This study was conducted for engineering optimization for the gasification process which is the key factor for success of Taean IGCC gasification plant which has been driven forward under the government support in order to expand to supply new and renewable energy and diminish the burden of the responsibility for the reduction of the green house gas emission. The gasification process consists of coal milling and drying, pressurization and feeding, gasification, quenching and HP syngas cooling, slag removal system, dry flyash removal system, wet scrubbing system, and primary water treatment system. The configuration optimization is essential for the high efficiency and the cost saving. For this purpose, it was designed to have syngas cooler to recover the sensible heat as much as possible from the hot syngas produced from the gasifier which is the dry-feeding and entrained bed slagging type and also applied with the oxygen combustion and the first stage cylindrical upward gas flow. The pressure condition inside of the gasifier is around 40~45Mpg and the temperature condition is up to $1500{\sim}1700^{\circ}C$. It was designed for about 70% out of fly ash to be drained out throughout the quenching water in the bottom part of the gasifier as a type of molten slag flowing down on the membrane wall and finally become a byproduct over the slag removal system. The flyash removal system to capture solid particulates is applied with HPHT ceramic candle filter to stand up against the high pressure and temperature. When it comes to the residual tiny particles after the flyash removal system, wet scurbbing system is applied to finally clean up the solids. The washed-up syngas through the wet scrubber will keep around $130{\sim}135^{\circ}C$, 40~42Mpg and 250 ppmv of hydrochloric acid(HCl) and hydrofluoric acid(HF) at maximum and it is turned over to the gas treatment system for removing toxic gases out of the syngas to comply with the conditions requested from the gas turbine. The result of this study will be utilized to the detailed engineering, procurement and manufacturing of equipments, and construction for the Taean IGCC plant and furthermore it is the baseline technology applicable for the poly-generation such as coal gasification(SNG) and liquefaction(CTL) to reinforce national energy security and create new business models.

분무열분해 공정에 의해 합성된 바륨 티타네이트 분말의 결정화 및 형태 특성 (Characteristics of Crystallinity and Morphology of Barium Titanate Particles Prepared by Spray Pyrolysis)

  • 유기 첨가물을 함유하는 분무용액으로부터 분무열분해 공정에 의해 바륨 티타네이트($BaTiO_3$) 분말을 합성하였다. 분무용액에 첨가되는 유기물의 종류 및 첨가량이 분무열분해 공정에 의해 합성된 $BaTiO_3$ 분말들의 결정구조 및 형태 특성에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 유기 첨가물로서 구연산, 에틸렌 글리콜 및 폴리에틸렌 글리콜을 첨가한 경우에 있어서는 유기 첨가물의 종류에 따라 하소 전후에 서로 다른 형태의 $BaTiO_3$ 분말들이 얻어졌다. 분무용액에 구연산을 첨가한 경우에 합성된 $BaTiO_3$ 분말들은 하소 후에 균일한 크기의 나노 분말들로 구성 되어진 나노 구조체를 가졌다. 분무용액에 첨가된 구연산의 양이 증가할수록 하소 후에 얻어진 분말들의 결정구조가 준안정상인 입방정상에서 정방정상으로의 상변환성이 증가하였다. 고농도의 구연산을 함유한 분무용액으로부터 합성된 $BaTiO_3$ 분말들은 하소 후에 좋은 정방정계 결정구조, 균일하며 미세한 크기 및 고표면적을 가졌다. 분무열분해 공정에 의해 합성된 $BaTiO_3$ 분말들은 밀링 공정 후에 균일한 크기 및 형태를 가졌다.

지르코니아 블록과 CAM 종류에 따른 코핑의 변연적합도와 기계적 특성 비교 (Comparison on marginal fitness and mechanical properties of copings with zirconia block and CAM type)

  • Purpose: This study provided the basic data for selection the zirconia block and CAM by means of marginal fitness observations, flexural strength test and hardness test. Methods: Three dental zirconia blocks(ABCera, NaturaZ, ST98) and two dental milling machines(CAD/CAM MS, DWX-50) were used in this study. Metal abutment(diameter 10 mm, height 5 mm, inclined angle $3^{\circ}$ taper, 1 mm chamfer margin) was fabricated by Ti customized abutment, and then zirconia copings were fabricated for each ten specimens. Silicone replica technique was used to observe the marginal fitness of cross-sections with a stereomicroscope at ${\times}50$ magnification. The dental zirconia blocks was cut into 10 pieces each having a size of $25mm{\times}5mm{\times}1mm$, and fabricated according to the manufacturer's instructions, and flexural strength was measured using a universal testing machine. For hardness test, a micro Vickers hardness tester was used as it was in the flexural strength test. Statistical analysis was performed by one way ANOVA and post-test was performed by Scheffe test. Results: For marginal fitness of bucco-lingual axial, ZU group($59.7{\pm}10.3{\mu}m$) was the lowest, followed by RA, ZA, ZD, RD, RU. For marginal fitness of mesio-distal axial, ZU group($59.3{\pm}10.2{\mu}m$) was the lowest, followed by RA, ZA, RD, ZD, RU. One-way ANOVA showed statistically significant difference between groups(p<0.05). For flexural strength, ABCera block($718.0{\pm}57.2MPa$) was the highest, followed by NaturaZ, ST98. For hardness, ABCera block($1550.3{\pm}19.8Hv$) was the highest, followed by ST98, NaturaZ. There was no significant difference in flexural strength and hardness between blocks(p>0.05). Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, the type of dental zirconia block did influence the marginal fitness, and all dental zirconia blocks are expected to be suitable for clinical application. The highest flexural strength and hardness were ABCera block, and no statistically significant difference was observed.

공용매가 첨가된 초임계유체 추출공정에서 기능성 지방산의 추출 (Isolation of Functional Fatty Acid in Cosolvent Induced SFE Process)

  • 국내에서 생산되는 현미겨는 약 8.4~14.7 wt %의 지질을 포함하고 있으나 지방산의 양이나 조성은 현미겨의 형태, 토질 상태, 도정과 같은 전처리나 정미도에 영향을 받는다. 현미겨에 포함되어 있는 지질은 보통 palmitic acid, linolenic acid, linoleic acid, oleic acid, stearic acid, tocopherol, squalene 등과 같은 지방산으로 나눌 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 초임계유체를 이용하여 현미겨에서 squalene을 함유한 지방산을 추출하였으며, 각각의 공정에 ethanol을 첨가하여 초임계유체 추출을 시행하였다. 추출물은 GC-MSD로 분석을 하였고, 추출된 현미유의 양은 공정 온도, 압력에 따라 달랐으며, 조성은 초임계 이산화탄소의 환산밀도 (${\rho}_{\gamma}$ reduced density)에 영향을 받았다. 4시간의 공정시간에 약 70~80%의 현미유가 추출되었으며, ethanol을 첨가한 초임계유체 추출은 일반 초임계유체 추출에 비해 추출시간이 단축되며 동시에 추출량이 증가됨을 알 수 있었다. 또한 용매추출 공정에서 검출되지 않았던 squalene이 초임계유체 추출과 ethanol올 첨가한 초임계유체 추출에서 추출됨이 확인되었다.

불량식미쌀에 대한 우량식미쌀 및 찹쌀의 혼합과 쌀의 품종간 혼합이 밥맛에 미치는 영향 (Changes in Palatability of Cooked Rice by Blending High Quality Rice or Glutinous Rice to Low Quality Rice and by Blending Rice of Different Varieties)

  • 우리나라에서의 미곡의 유통은 통일계와 일반계는 구분되어 이루어지고 있으나 식미가 다른 품종간에는 대부분 구분되지 않고 혼합되어 관리ㆍ유통되고 있다. 그러나 쌀의 식미는 품종간에 차이가 크고 국민들은 양식미쌀을 선호하므로 저식미쌀에 찹쌀, 또는 고식미쌀을 일정비율 혼합하여 식미향상효과를 얻을 수 있는지와 밥맛이 다른 품종들의 쌀을 일정비율로 혼합했을 때 밥맛에 미치는 영향을 밝히고자 하였다. 시료는 1987년 및 1989년산 통일계벼, 1990년 고성 및 부여산 일반계, 1989년산 통일계 삼강벼. 일반계낙동벼. 1990년산 추청벼, 동진벼 및 진부10호를 식미관능검사 1주일 전에 12분게로 도정하여 사용하였고 시판되는 최고가의 이천쌀과 일반계 찹쌀 상품을 공시하였으며, 식미관능검사는 국립농산물검사소 검사반과 작물시험장 미질 검정실에 의해 실시하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같이 요약된다 1. 저식미찰(일반계)에 시판 고식미쌀을 중량비 80%까지 혼합하여도 식미향상은 없었으나 동진벼쌀(고식미)을 80% 혼합했을 때에는 동진벼쌀과 동등한 평점을 얻는 식미향상효과가 있었다. 중식미쌀에 시판 시판 고식미쌀을 80% 혼합한 경우는 식미가 크게 향상되었다. 2 식미가 불량한 통일계 고미('87, '89년산)에 시판되는 일반계 찹쌀상품을 20% 혼합하였을 때 식미가 향상되었으나, 중하위 식미의 통일계 중상위 식미의 일반계쌀에는 찹쌀 20% 혼합시에도 유의적 효과가 인정되지 않았다. 3. 중위 및 상위 식미품종인 낙동벼, 동진벼, 추청벼 간 여러가지 비율로 혼합한 경우 단일품종과 비교하여 일정한 경향의 유의적 식미 변화가 인정되지 않았다.
