This work investigates the hybrid precoder scheme in a millimeter wave (mmWave) multi-user MIMO system. We study a sum rate maximization scheme by jointly designing the digital precoder and the analog precoder. To handle the non-convex problem, a block coordinate descent (BCD) method is formulated, where the digital precoder is solved by a bisection search and the analog precoder is addressed by the penalty dual decomposition (PDD) alternately. Then, we extend the proposed algorithm to the sub-connected schemes. Besides, the proposed algorithm enjoys lower computational complexity when compared with other benchmarks. Simulation results verify the performance of the proposed scheme and provide some meaningful insight.

In cellular communication systems employing millimeter wave (mmWave) bands for a link, a large amount of training time and network resources will be required to find a serving BS with the best transmit and receive (Tx-Rx) beam pair if downlink control signals are used. In this paper, a tracking technique for OFDM-based cellular communication systems with a mmWave link, where an analog beamforer is used at the mobile station (MS) and a digital beamformer is used at the BS, is proposed using an uplink signal. A technique to select a serving BS with the best beam pair is described using the uplink preamble sequence based on Zadoff-Chu sequence and a metrics which can be used to identify parameters such as beam ID (BID), MS ID (MID), and direction-of-arrival (DoA). The effectiveness of the proposed technique is verified via simulation with the spatial channel model (SCM) for a moving MS in mmWave cellular systems.

The global automotive radar is regulated to use the 22GHz~26GHz band. However, it plans to move to the 77~81GHz band of a broadband radar in the millimeter wave for the high resolution of pedestrian sensing and blind spot. On the other hand, the 71~275GHz band is regulated to use a radio astronomy service. The interference is predicted between an automotive radar and a radio astronomy service. Therefore, this paper analyzed the interference impact of the automotive radar on the radio astronomy service and then obtained separation distance for the protection of the radio astronomy service.

A power amplifier with AlGaAs/InGaAs/GaAs HBT's has been developed for customer premise equipments of the quasi millimeter-wave frequency-band broadband wireless local loop(BWLL) system. Parameters of the linear and nonlinear equivalent circuits for a common base HBT have been extracted by a fitting method. The amplifier has been designed through the linear and nonlinear circuit simulations and fabricated on a ceramic substrate for a hybrid IC. The amplifier has produced a 25.5-dBm output power with 35% power-added efficiency(PAE) at 24.4 GHz and achieved a 7.5-dB linear power gain at 24.8 GHz. In 24.25 ∼24.75 GHz band, the amplifier has exhibited a saturated output over larger than 22 dBm and PAE higher than 25%.

The rain attenuatio of a radio channel above 10 GHz can have impact on the availability of the radio channel. The severity of the rain impairments increases with frequency and varies with regional location. This paper presents an estimation method for rain attenuation for millimeter-wave propagation in domestic environments. the dropsize distribution is assumed to be exponential, and the measurement data in the various countries which are simlar to the domestic environments are compared with the theoretical one by varying the dropsize distribution. A rain-rate conversion model which can convert .tau.-minutes rain-rate data to 1-minute rain-rate data for domestic environments is also discussed. Using the converted domestic rain-rate data, probabilty distributions of rain attenuation are computed.

The neighbor discovery using directional antennas in mmWave band is a prerequisite for communications and this issue is crucial and urgent. In this paper, the synchronized, direct, two-way directional neighbor discovery process is analyzed mathematically for mmWave WPANs. The analysis is based on the values which are derived from the effect of using directional antennas. The neighbor discovery probability for a given amount of time is considered and several performance measures such as the optimal sojourn time are derived in closed forms. Numerical results are obtained using parameters based on the IEEE 802.15.3c. The mathematical analysis provides the theoretical basis for the directional neighbor discovery process.
Error performance of two modulation schemes of millimeter-wave over fiber (MMoF) system i.e., optical double side band (ODSB) and optical single side band (OSSB) modulations is analyzed under Rician fading. Bit error rates (BER) of two detection techniques i.e., coherent and noncoherent detection are also compared in Rician fading. In aspect of error performance, ODSB modulation scheme has better BER than OSSB modulation scheme has under Rician fading. On the other hand, OSSB modulation scheme is advantageous in case of considering high bandwidth efficiency and small power degradation. Coherent detection technique is proper in Rician fading, because coherent detection provides more SNR gain whether fading is serious or not. Noncoherent detection can be applied when we need a simple receiver structure.

In 21 century, we use a variety of new wireless technologies focuses on broadcasting and Communications. Because of widely spread wireless-service, demand a lot of frequency. It requires various wireless access technologies. Especially UWB, SER, Millimeter Wave etc. Among them, UWB can use wide Frequency band, because it is different from Non-traditional approach which Frequency Band Using the exclusive rights granted by. Furthermore, it does not cause interference to other existing frequency, therefore this technology is attracting attention. In this paper, describe study on a UWB technology, design about useable antenna for UWB communication.

A compact Q-band waveguide-to-microstrip transition for UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) radiometer applications is presented. The key features of this transition are simplicity, compactness, easy matching, and lower sensitivity to the dimensions and fabrication tolerances. The simple E-plane patch-type design is insensitive to the backshort cavity enclosure and misalignment between the waveguide and microstrip substrate. The primary parameters are optimized using a three-dimensional(3D) electromagnetic simulator(ANSYS HFSS). It exhibited better than 20-dB return loss at mid-band frequencies with less than 1-dB insertion loss for the back-to-back transition, and a return loss better than 15 dB over the frequency range of 36 GHz to 42 GHz.

We introduce a hybrid scheduling in a multi-path poor scattering full-duplex (FD) system, which consists of one multi-antenna FD base station and a large number of single-antenna half-duplex mobile stations. Our hybrid scheduling utilizes partial channel state information at the transmitter. In particular, unlike the conventional scheduling method using opportunistic transmission for both uplink and downlink, the proposed scheme combines a random transmit beamforming for downlink and a zero forcing beamforming for uplink. As our main result, via computer simulations, it is shown that the proposed scheme has a superior sum-rate performance than that of the conventional scheduling method beyond a certain signal-to-noise ratio regime.
