Rapid development of technology enables military system, operational concept and organization innovated. As a result, Revolution in Military Affairs(RMA) that dramatically increased warfighting capability is pursued. Especially, advanced information technology constructs system of systems with abilities of battle visualization, information sharing in battlefield, long-range strike capability that are interoperable and combined. Corresponding to this, engagement methods and organizations are being progressively developed. The purpose of this thesis is overview of newly developing Warfare Paradigm and analysis of tendency of Military Transformation that advanced countries are pursuing preparation to this. Above all, specific aspects and contents of the Warfare Paradigm which emerged by information age were summarized. Subsequently, Military Transformation which provides the basic concepts and principles to the advanced countries in the world for the creation of new military capability was discussed. • PURPOSE: This study compared the grip strength of young adult male soldiers who had undergone military training with civilian adult males by indirectly examining the impact of military training on the grip strength and overall muscle mass. Grip strength, an essential biomarker for overall health and crucial combat abilities, was explored within the demanding conditions of military service. METHODS: The research measured the grip strength of soldiers actively serving in the military and compared it with data from healthy civilian males in their twenties to determine if a structured training regime significantly enhances grip strength more than a typical civilian lifestyle. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics with the means and group differences assessed using a t-test (p < .05). An online survey was conducted among the military group to self-assess the changes in grip strength before and after enlistment to gauge the awareness of such changes. RESULTS: Significant differences were observed between the groups, with an observable increase in grip strength with age within the military group, suggesting that military training can positively impact muscle maintenance and enhance daily life. CONCLUSION: Further research will be needed to elucidate the effects of military physical training programs and their broader implications for military readiness and overall health.

  • The most important responsibility of a government is to protect citizen lives and its own territory from outside threats. Especially recent political changes surrounding the Korea Peninsula seriously threaten the korean national security. To copy the situation, perception of national security based on citizen's trust in the army is needed. Accordingly survey analysis on effect of trust in the army on perception of national security had been conducted on students of a university located in Ulsan. Result of the statistical analysis as follows. First, while social contribution and military abilities among trust in the army are highly evaluated, integrity and characteristics of organizational culture are low evaluated. Second, all the correlation coefficients among studying variables are significantly positive. But correlation coefficient between social contribution and perception of national security is relatively low. Third, integrity, characteristics, and military abilities has a significant and positive effect on perception of national security, but social contribution has no significant effect.

  • Defense industry as 'a new dynamics of economic growth' policy implies driving policy of defense products' export. The purpose of this study is to suggest suitable strategies to meet with such policy in terms of region and individual nation. The strategies towards advanced region are joint sale strategy for the third countries, extension strategy of trade-off and development strategy of products to exploit niche markets. The strategies towards non-advanced regions are package strategy including exchange of economic development know-how, strengthening strategy of relationships to leading groups in national decision-making processes, exploit strategy of sales market through transfer discard and surplus equipments to other nations, government to government sale strategy towards countries holding low leveled equipment maintaining and management abilities. Finally, successive strategies require leaders' will, active sales diplomacy and active international cooperations of defense industry.

  • This article introduces a formalism for the analysis of airplane trajectories on which the motion is determined by specifying the power of the engines. It explains a procedure to solve the equations of motion to obtain the value of the relevant flight parameters. It then enumerates the constraints that the dynamical abilities of the airplane impose on the amount of fuel used, the speed, the load factor, the lift coefficient, the positivity and upper boundedness of the power available. Examples of analysis are provided to illustrate the method proposed, with rectilinear and circular trajectories. Two very different types of airplanes are used in the examples: a Silver Fox-like small UAV and a common Cessna 182 Skylane.

  • The wearable robot system is designed to assist human skeletal and muscular systems for enhancing user's abilities in various fields, including medical, industrial, and military. The military has an expanding need for wearable robots with the integration of surveillance/control systems and advanced equipment in unstructured battlefield environments. However, there is a lack of research on the design and mechanism of wearable robots, especially for power assist systems. This study proposes a lightweight wearable robot system that provides comfortable wear and muscle support effects in various movements for soldiers performing high-strength and endurance missions. The Power assist mechanism is described and verified, and the tasks that require power assist are analyzed. This study explain the system including its driving mechanism, control system, and mechanical design. Finally, the performance of the robot is verified through experiments and evaluations, demonstrating its effectiveness in muscle support.

  • With the rapid development of advanced science and technology including the 4th industrial revolution, the future battlefield environment is evolving at a rapid pace. In order to actively respond to issues such as reduction of military resources and shortening of service period, and to emphasize the realization of human-centered values, the Ministry of National Defense is re-establishing the role of the Army in accordance with the defense reform and is promoting the Warrior Platform, a next-generation individual combat system. In this paper, we intend to present the optimal warrior platform architecture suitable for the Korean Army by realizing the concept of future ground operations and analyzing overseas cases. We analyze the essential abilities required of individual combatants and the abilities required for each unit type, and specifically presents a plan for integration and linkage of warrior platform equipment. We also propose an efficient business promotion direction by presenting the data flow and power connection diagram between the devices that need integration and interworking.

  • Gamma-ray has some advantages as a weapon: it has the ability to transmutate matter, high penetrability through materials, and it is very harmful to living things. So it is worth to study the features of gamma-ray weapon in order to utilize it. Such abilities were simulated on the basis of Monte Carlo simulation program GEANT4. For the simulation conceptual design of gamma-ray weapon was conducted. High energy electrons, which were necessary for the high energy gamma-rays, were produced by linear electron accelerator, of which the parameters were derived from the Pohang Light Source(PLS-II). Gamma-rays were get by bremsstrahlung mechanism. The spectra of gamma-rays, that were measured at distances of 500 m, 1000 m, 1500 m and 2000 m, were gained by GEANT4.

  • The swimming abilities of aquatic-animals are of vital importance to their ecology. The relationship between outer shapes and the swimming ability has been focused just a few centuries ago by engineering community. Present paper surveys the recent studies of the aquatic-animals' swimming performance in the morphological point of view. Also an experimental study is performed in order to investigate the effect of the tail fin's shape on the propulsive performance. The result showed that the morphological study provided valuable data for exploring the secrets of the aquatic-animals' swimming performance.

  • This paper develops scenarios to evaluate the safety performance of Unmanned Ground Vehicle on military circumstances. The scenarios were created using Pegasus Project 6-layer format. These scenarios consist of straight road, curved road, merging road and crossroad. We adapt these scenarios to unpaved road. The characteristics of unpaved roads were divided into roughness, friction coefficient and road frequency. This adaption is validated via computer simulation. We observe the scan lines of vehicle become tangled of the straight road that make the cognitive abilities of the vehicle low and the lane-keeping is unable when vehicles entering curved off-roads over 40 km/h. The developed scenarios will contribute to enhancing stability from the perspective of introducing autonomous driving technology to Korean military.
