This study examined the actual condition of middle school students' dining out based on the data of the 2016 youth food behavior inquiry data of the Korea Rural Economic Institute. The eating out behavior of 278 middle school students' according to gender, average eating-out cost per person, average monthly eating out cost per person, weekly frequency of breakfast, and dietary information source were calculated into a chi-square value by cross analysis. The main results of this study are as follows. First, in middle school students' eating-out status, most students answered 'eating out', and the highest frequency of eating out was 1~3 times a week. The reason for eating out was 'to enjoy delicious food', and 'costly price' was the most common reason for not eating out. Food taste was the most common standard for selecting eating out, and a restaurant was the most common place to eat out. The main restaurant was the 'snack bar (kimbap specialized store)'. Second, there was no significant difference in all items of eating-out status according to the gender. A significant difference in eating out frequency was observed according to average eating-out cost per once (p< .001), standard for selecting eating out (p< .001), main eating out places (p< .001), and main restaurants (p< .01). There was a significant difference in the frequency of eating out (p< .001) in the eating-out status according to average eating out cost per month. Third, the eating-out status according to the breakfast frequency of middle school students had a significant difference in the reason for eating out (p< .001). The eating-out status according to the dietary information source of middle school students had a significant difference in eating out or not (p< .05) and the frequency of eating out (p< .05). These results highlight the importance of school diet education so that middle school students can achieve healthy eating habits and plan to increase their interest and utilization of school dietary education.
Western redcedar timber, 26 by 26cm in cross section and by 200cm long, was dried in a laboratory radio-frequency/vacuum kiln under 65torr of ambient pressure and a fixed frequency of 6.78MHz for the potential rapidly dry large timber. All process data were collected and saved in a computer through a data acquisition system. The temperature in the middle of timber was higher than temperature at the quarter point of timber length and thickness. Temperature gradients developed in the longitudinal and transverse direction of timber. The pressure in the middle of timber was higher than pressure at the quarter point of timber length. The pressure in the middle of timber was lower in the early stage of drying, and higher in the latter stage of drying than pressure at the quarter point of timber thickness. Power density was very highest during heating period and then gradually decreased. The drying curve was approximately linear and the total drying time was 27 hours from an initial moisture content(MC) of 48.6 percent to a final Me of 19.2 percent with only a few mild internal checks in the middle location of timber.
It is known that human saliva includes various kinds of salivaru proteins that show genetic polymorphism. Withrespect to salivary protein polymorphism, this study was conducted on 160 healthy Koreans between the ages of 20 and 29 chosen randomly : their parotid slaiva was collected, freeze-dried, and horizontally electrophoresed over acid-urea starch gel. Aluminum lactate-lactic acid was also used as buffer solution. The gel was stained with amidoblack 10B/1% acetic acid solution, and then destained with 0.5M H2SO4 solution. Accordingly, the parotid middle-band protein(Pm) identified, and its phenotypes and gene frequency were obtained. The obtined results were as follows : 1. The phenotypes of parotid middle band protein(Pm) observed in parotid saliva of the 160 Koreans were Pm(+) in 91 people (56.9%) and Pm(-) in 69 people (43.1%) 2. The gene frequency of Pm+ was 0.343, and that of Pm-waw 0.657. 3. The gene frequency of parotid middle band protein (Pm) obtained from Korean's parotid saliva was midway between that of Japanese and Chinese.
This study was conducted to provide desirable way on the eating of sugar foods, specifically the differences between dietary attitude, dietary behaviors and intake frequency. Data was collected from 279 middle students in the Incheon region through a self-administered questionnaire. According to the results of the reliability and factor analysis, the dietary attitude, dietary behaviors and intake frequency was 3.52, 2.89 and 2.51, with a Cronbach alpha coefficient of 0.867, 0.789, 0.940 and KMO of 0.899. Factor analysis extracted three components of the sugar preference, which we named dietary attitude (factor 1), dietary behaviors (factor 2), and intake frequency (factor 3). The dietary attitude and dietary behaviors showed a significant difference between sugar preference and non-preference (p < 0.05). Also, intake frequency of sugar food showed a significant differences in chocolate, chocolate products, and ice cream between sugar preference and non-preference (p < 0.05), whereas no significant differences were found in cake, bread kinds, juice, sweetness milk, yogurt between sugar preference and non-preference (p > 0.05). A significant positive result of intake frequency of sugar food (p < 0.05) was shown for the dietary attitude, BMI, weight, and monthly pocket money. Based on this study, the reduction of sugar intake is needed especially for middle students.
In this study, we have analyzed the 2015 KNHANES VI to understand the nutritional and health status of Korean middle-age adults from the perspective of frequency of eating breakfast. Those that eat breakfast five to seven times a week were 76.3 percent (male) and 72.7 percent (female). Frequency of eating lunch and dinner, and eating out was significantly higher among male subjects. The higher the frequency of eating breakfast, the higher the frequency of eating lunch, dinner and eating out. Female subjects that ate breakfast five to seven times a week had lower height and weight compared with other groups, but there was no significant difference of BMI and waist circumference among the four groups. Adults that eat breakfast five to seven times a week had consumed more carbohydrates, dietary fiber, phosphorus, potassium and vitamin C regardless of gender, which validates the nutritional benefits of eating meals regularly. Male adults that ate breakfast five to seven times a week revealed lower levels of diastolic blood pressure and LDL-cholesterol compared with other groups, which validates eating breakfast regularly was beneficial to their health. In conclusion, it is necessary to eat regular meals daily relative to the nutritional status and health of Korean middle-age adults.

In this work, a new method to obtain the effective ground conductivity value in the middle frequency band where the informations of soil characteristics are insufficient was proposed. The proposed method obtained the effective ground conductivity values with the measured field strength from sea reference stations and general attenuation model in the middle frequency band. In addition, the proposed method used statistical method to minimize the error between the measurements and the predictions. Then, the effective ground conductivity in Korea peninsular was obtained by using the proposed method. Finally, it was verified that the effective ground conductivity using the proposed method is useful to predict electric field strength in the middle frequency band.

This paper proposes a variable block size vector quantization based on a biorthogonal wavelet transform for image compression. An image is first decomposed with the biorthogonal wavelet transform into multiresolution image and the wavelet coefficients of the middle frequency bands are segmented using the quadtree sturcture to extract the perceptually important regions in the middle frequency bands. A sedges of middle frequency bands exist the corresponding position of high frequency bands, the complicated quadtree structure of middle frequency bands is equally applied to the high frequency bands. Therefore the overhaed information of the quadtree codes needed to segment the high frequency bands can be reduced. The segmented subblocks are encoded with the codebook designed at the each scales and directions. The simulation results showed that the proposed methods could reproduce higher quality image with bit rate reduced about 20(%) than of the preceding VQ method and sufficiently reduce the bolck effect and the edge degradation.
This study was carried out to identify factors related to breakfasts in elementary, middle and high school students. This study was surveyed by questionnaires and data was analyzed by SPSS program. Exploratory analysis was conducted according to three school student groups (elementary children, middle school students, and high school students). The subjects were 1,886 school students (female 893, male 959) of 51 schools in the nationwide region. The distribution of subjects was elementary school children 544, middle school students 661 and high school students 681. The results are summarized as follows. Only sixty percent of the subjects had breakfast regularly. About one fourth of the subjects had the habit of skipping breakfast or eating it 2$\sim$3 times per week. Frequency of having breakfast and reasions of skipping breakfast were significantly different according to school student groups (p < 0.001 respectively). The rate of skipping breakfast was $14.4\%$ in elementary school, $16.1\%$ in middle school, and $25.0\%$ in high school. The main reason for skipping breakfast was 'not delicious or poor appetite' in elementary school ($42.5\%$), but 'busy' in middle ($50.2\%$) and high school ($61.1\%$). There was no significant difference in frequency of having breakfast according to living areas (rural and urban). There were not significant differences between frequency of having breakfast and BMI and degree of satisfaction on body weight. But there were significant difference in frequency of having breakfast according to economical status (p < 0.05). There were significant differences in degree of school performance according to frequency of having breakfast (p < 0.001) There was significant relationship between the time of attending school and the frequency of having breakfast. But there were significant relationships between frequency of having breakfast and time of rising. These findings suggested that the time of rising was controlled by having enough time that students eat breakfast. And mother (or person who prepares meals) must have more concerns about preparing breakfast for children and students.

The purpose of this study was to identify significant differences in dietary guidelines, emotional intelligence, resilience and violence according to the frequency of family meals for middle school students in Daegu. To achieve the purpose of this study, 241 data collected through self-administered questionnaires were analyzed. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS (v25.0) program for frequency, percentage, standard deviation, reliability, one-way ANOVA and Duncan comparison. The results of this study were as follows. There was a significant difference in the level of the dietary guidelines practice, emotional intelligence and resilience according to the frequency of family meals of middle school students. Implications and suggestions based on the results of this study were as follows. First, family meal frequency is significantly related to middle school students' dietary guidelines practice, emotional intelligence, and resilience (p<0.05). Accordingly, personal efforts and social and institutional arrangements are required to increase the family meal frequency. Second, some of the core competences required in the 2015 revised curriculum were consistent with sub-areas of emotional intelligence and resilience, which can be predicted by the results that family meal experience of middle school students is also related to the development of core competences. In conclusion, increasing family meal frequency is important considering the trend of education, and is required for personality education.
Stress has been known to change dietary behaviors and food intakes in individuals. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of stress level on the frequency and the amount of snack consumption. The high stress group (HS) showed significantly higher frequency of consumption for bread, chips, cookies, ramyeon, and frozen snacks (p<0.05) compared to low stress group (LS) with higher frequency of snack consumption (p<0.01), and increased intakes of energy, carbohydrates, and sodium from snacks (p<0.01) than LS. As the stress level became higher, the proportions of students with irregular meals, overeating, and night snacking increased (p<0.01). Also, 33.0% of the subjects answered that they consumed an increased amount of snacks when they were feeling stressed. Our results indicated that stress has negative influence on snack consumption in middle school girls.
