A Trapezoidal Ultra-Wideband Antenna Design (사다리꼴 모양의 UWB 안테나 설계)

  • In this paper, a novel Ultra-Wideband(UWB) antenna fed by CPW is designed, fabricated, and measured for UWB communications. We have used the Microwave Studio of CST to simulate the proposed antenna. It is designed to work on a substrate TMM4 of thickness 0.762 mm and relative permittivity 4.5. The proposed antenna is satisfied with Ultra-Wideband communication band from 3.1 GHz to 11.5 GHz, for VSWR$\leq$2, and isolated IEEE 802.1la frequency band(5.15 GHz$\~$5.825 GHz) using a rectangular slot. Measured group delay variation is less than 1 ns, thus indicating the proposed antenna a good candidate for UWB applications.

  • This paper designed a very low profle, light and broadband internal antenna for operating at PCS, IMT-2000 and Wibro bands. The proposed antenna can be reduced the size by using shorting-pin and a broadband characteristic is obtained by using slit. It is optimized by using the CST Microwave Studio commercial software based on the FIA(Finite Integration Algorithm) and PBA(Perfect Boundary Approximation) and then fabricated and measured. As a result of measurement, the bandwidth(VSWR<2.5) is $40.8\;\%$ at $1.934\;\cal{GHz}$ and the size of antenna is 3$30\;\cal{mm}\times10\;\cal{mm}\times0.2\;\cal{mm}$.

  • In this paper, 0.8 GHz and 1.8 GHz dual-band antenna was designed for global system for mobile communications (GSM) and the Long Term Evolution (LTE) The proposed antenna was made using CST Microwave Studio 2009. My script antenna's substrate is Taconic TLY-5 and dielectric constant is 2,2 and has 1.0mm thickness with a compact design of the proposed antenna, Thus it shows that this proposed antenna can be used in Wireless Communication System.

Dual band antenna design for LTE / WLAN for wireless mobile communication high-speed network (무선 이동통신 고속 통신망을 위한 LTE/WLAN용 이중대역 안테나 설계)

  • In this paper, we designed a microstrip antenna for LTE / WLAN for wireless mobile communication high - speed communication network. The substrate of the proposed antenna is FR-4 (er = 4.3), the size is $20[mm]{\times}40[mm]$ and can be used in the frequency band of 2.77 [GHz] and 5 [GHz] Respectively. The simulation was performed using CST Microwave Studio 2014. The simulation result shows that the gain is 2.034 [dBi] at 2.77 [GHz] and 4.95 [dBi] at 5 [GHz]. The S-parameter was also found to be less than -10 [dB] (WSWR 2: 1) in the desired frequency band. The frequency bands of LTE and WLAN are widely used around the world, and the usage of the frequency is also increasing. For this reason, the dual-band antenna of LTE / WLAN is designed to help many users in a good way to use both technologies.

  • A microplasma system source based on microwave parallel stripline resonator (MPSR) was developed for the generation of microplasmas in a wide range of pressure from some torr to 760 torr. This source was operated at its resonance frequency that much depends upon not only its discharge gap size but also operated pressure. This paper applied a simple circuit model to analyze the effects of discharge gap size and pressure to resonance frequency and impedance of MPSR in the cases with and without plasma exist inside the discharge gap. In the process of calculating, the conformal mapping method was used to estimate the capacitance of the MPSR. The calculating results by using circuit model agree well with the simulation results that using commercial CST microwave studio software.

Fabrication and Design of a Compact Narrow Band Pass Filter Using Slot Type Split Spiral Resonators (슬롯형 분할 나선형 공진기를 이용한 소형 협 대역통과 필터 설계 및 제작)

  • In this paper, a design method of the compact narrow band filter on the microstrip board is proposed using slot-type split spiral resonators. The design technique of this filter is based on cascading filter stages consisting of the combination of slot-type split spiral resonators, capacitive gaps between patches, and inductive grounded stubs with the meander configuration. By these means, it was possible to get the nearly symmetric frequency responses, adjustable bandwidths, compact sizes. And also excellent characteristic of the out-of-band rejection is achieved in contrast to the conventional filter design technique. The measured insertion loss shows good results about -3.47dB at the center frequency($f_0$=1GHz) and passband return loss is less than -12.62dB. The 3dB fractional bandwidth(FBW) is approximately 7.3%. The results of the frequency response measured on the fabricated band pass filter substrate show satisfactory agreement with the simulated frequency responses by the MWS(Microwave Studio) of CST in the region of interest.

  • In this paper, we designed a microstrip patch antenna that can be applied to the Wimax/LTE 5G system among wireless media usable in coastal ships. The substrate of the proposed antenna is FR-4 (er=4.3), the size is 22 mm × 30 mm, and it can be used in the 3.5 GHz and 5.8 GHz bands of Wimax/LTE 5G by constructing a simple structure using a microstrip patch antenna. CST Microwave Studio 2014 was used for simulation, and the gain of the simulation result is 2.41dB at 2.4 GHz and 3.96 dB at 3.5 GHz. S-Parameter also showed a result of less than -10 dB (VSWR 2:1) in the desired frequency band, and designed a small variable and a miniaturized antenna so that the antenna can be used in mobile phones or electronic devices.

  • Although the cut-off probe, a precise measurement method for the electron density, is widely used in the industry, the physics on the wave spectrum of the cut-off is not understood yet, only cut-off point frequency containing the information of electron density has been analyzed well. This paper analyzes the microwave frequency spectrum of the cut-off probe to see the physics behind using both microwave field simulation (CST Microwave Studio) and simplified circuit simulation. The result shows that the circuit model well reproduces the cut-off wave spectrum especially in the low frequency regime where the wavelength of the driving frequency is larger than the characteristic length and reveals the physics of transmission characteristics with frequency as resonances between vacuum, plasma and sheath. Furthermore, by controlling the time domain in solver of the microwave simulator, the cut-off like transmission peaks above the cut-off frequency which has been believed as cavity effect is verified as chamber geometry effect. The result of this paper can be used as the basis for the improvement of cut-off probe.

  • In this paper, we designed and fabricated WLAN / UWB communication antennas operating at 3.3 [GHz] and 5 [GHz] bands in order to effectively use the high-speed communication network system that improved antenna miniaturization, gain and radiation pattern. Microstrip patch antennas were chosen to improve the bandwidth. The slot width, length, and transmission line width were calculated using the theoretical formula for each step. Simulation results show that the return loss is -14.053 [dB] at 3.3 [GHz] and -13.118 [dB] at 5 [GHz]. The gain showed a value of 2.479 [dBi] at 3.3 [GHz] and a value of 3.317 [dBi] at 5 [GHz]. After optimizing it with the CST Microwave Studio 2014 program, which can be 3D-designed, Based on these results, we investigated the performance of antennas by measuring their characteristics. In recent years, WLAN, which is a variety of wireless technologies that are continuously developing, and UWB, which is a communication technology which is increasing in frequency band due to an increase in demand of the technology users, is used for a high speed wireless communication system. Communication seems to be possible.

A BROADBAND TAPERED PIFA FOR MOBILE PHONES (이동통신단말기용 광대역 테이퍼형 PIFA)

  • In this paper, a new compact PIFA, applicable to PCS system, is described. The central aim in design is to broaden the bandwidth within limited height of mobile phones. To overcome the narrow bandwidth characteristics, which is typical of a patch antenna, tapered type radiation patch is employed. The antenna is designed using CST microwave studio and its characteristics are compared with a basic PIFA with similar volume.
