Prevalence of Adolescent Behavior Problems, Smoking, and Delinquency

  • Data from the National Longitudinal Study of Youth (NLSY) were used to examine factors related to adolescent behavior problems, smoking, and delinquency. This study focuses particularly on the factors in an adolescent s immediate environment such as family, school, peers, and neighborhood (i.e. the microsystems) for the identification, prevention, and early intervention of adolescent behavior problems, smoking, and delinquent behavior. Both African American and Caucasian American adolescents between the ages of 13 and 17 for whom data were available in the NLSY were included in this study (N=788). Results indicate that delinquent peer pressure and negative attitudes toward school are important determinants of behavior problems, smoking, and delinquency of American adolescents. Differences between African American and Caucasian American adolescents are highlighted.

  • 현재까지 e-비즈니스와 관련된 많은 자료들과 솔루션들이 발표되었지만 기업을 위한 e-비즈니스 환경에 IT 기술을 접목시켜 기업의 내부의 IT 기술과 솔루션에 대한 연구가 활발하지 않은 듯 하다. e-비즈니스의 유형은 기업과 고객(B2C), 기업과 기업(B2B), 국가와 기업(G2B), 국가와 국가(G2G) 등으로 세분화 할 수 있으나, 가장 중심적 역할을 하는 주체는 기업 조직이라고 하겠다. 본 연구에서는 많은 e-비즈니스의 구현 기반 기술 중에서 기업 내부 측면의 e-비즈니스 구현 기반기술과 관련된 IT 기술들은 전사적 자원관리를 위한 ERP(Enterprise Resource Planning)와 지식 기반의 정보 분석을 위한 DW/CRM(Data Warehouse/ Customer Relationship Management), 기업내부의 정보 통로인 EIP(Enterprise Information Portal}, 기업내부의 이기종 어플리케이션간의 통합을 위한 EAI(Enterprise Application Integration)와 경영층의 전략적인 의사결정을 지원하기 위한 SEM(Strategy Executive Management), 확장 ERP 개념인 SCM(Supply Chain Management) 기술에 대한 개념적 이해와 기업내부의 e-비즈니스 환경을 위한 적용방안을 밝히고 각 IT별 솔루션의 분류함에 의해 기업의 e-비즈니스 시스템의 구현 방향을 제시하고자 한다.

  • The tribological behavior of microsystems needs to be clearly understood in order to improve the reliability of precision components. For example, friction and wear phenomena pose serious problems in MEMS applications. As a first step to investigate the tribological behavior of such systems, an appropriate testing system must be acquired. In this work, a micro-wear tester based MEMS platform was designed. The main concern was to achieve a desirable range of horizontal displacement for the specimen holder and also to apply a normal force in the tens of ${\mu}N$ range. The structural analysis of the micro-wear tester showed that the proposed design satisfied these requirements while maintaining the structural integrity.

  • In the knowledge and network economy, standards and standardization become an important factor in determining the competitiveness of nations and firms. This paper analyses some cases of firms' strategic standardization. We defined the concept of standards, standardization, strategic standardization, and standardization management, which have been unfamiliar in the academic society. The standardization strategy can be categorized into four types according to firm's management objectives or benefits, including technological innovation, market creation/extension. cost-down, and accreditation. This classification of standardization strategy is very useful in analysing the various kinds of the cases of strategic standardization implementation. We found that standards and standardization have a positive influence on firm's overall performance. In some cases, for example, Dell Computer, Sun Microsystems, Deere & Company, etc., strategic standardization plays a role as a key success factor(KSF).

An Analysis of Microsystem Variables Affecting Children's Daily Hassles (유아의 일상적 스트레스에 영향을 미치는 미시체계 변인 탐색)

  • The daily hassles of 5-year-old children were explored and analyzed as microsystems in order to discover the relative importance of ecological factors in children's daily hassles. The subjects were 322 children, their mothers and 34 teachers recruited from 5 kindergartens and 15 child-care centers in Seoul and Kyonggido province. Children were interviewed individually with pictures showing certain stressful situations. Questionnaires were administered to mothers and teachers. The findings indicated that the microsystem variables of Kindergartens and child-care centers were the most significant factors explaining children's daily hassles. Therefore, it was suggested that the policies and regulations on child-care facilities be carefully developed and strictly regulated.

  • Recently, the interest on micro optical parts has increased rapidly with the development of technology related to microsystems. Among the optical parts, micro lens is one of the most broadly used micro parts. To mass-produce the micro lenses, it is very effective to use the mold insert and injection molding process. There are many methods to fabricate the mold insert for micro lenses: electroforming, etching, mechanical micromachining and so on. In this study, we fabricated the mold insert for micro lenses using a micro ball endmill to apply mechanical micromaching method and analyzed the effect of main process parameters such as spindle speed, feed rate, dwell time on the processed surface. Then, using fabricated the mold insert we fabricated the micro lenses through injection molding process.

  • The P2P is a network environment supporting data exchange which is directly connected peers without limit of existing server-client and intervening central server for resource or offered service with each peer. JXTA is a representative of P2P system. JXTA is a typical distributed computing model that proposed by Sun Microsystems. JXTA that doesn't require centralized services or resources is adaptable in extreme changes of network organization. MANET(Mobile Ad Hoc Network) is a representative wireless network that is composed of mobile nodes without infrastructure. So MANET establishes the path for the communication of each peers and maintains the newest routing information by exchanging routing information. In this paper, we propose a technique of JXTAMAUET which implements JXTA which is the P2P network system from the wireless network which is becoming the foundation of ubiquitous computing. For the performance evaluation of the JXTAMANET, we use simulation.

  • In an EJB 1.1 specification, every method call made to the Enterprise Java Bean, is potentially remote call. Such remote invocations use the network layer regardless of the proximity of the client to the bean, creating a network overhead. Especially. because entity bean is more notable performance fail by remote call than session bean, frequency of use on Session Bean in work-site operations is much more than Entity Bean. We focus on how to improve the performance on the entity bean with Value Object, which is one of J2EE patterns suggested by Sun Microsystems. We presents related design-issues fur performance testing, the testing results compared with original entity bean and our findings.
