  • The mutual coupling of a pair of microstrip patch antennas on a finite grounded dielectric substrate is influenced by the diffracted field of surface waves from the edges of a substrate. The effective dielectric constant of a grounded dielectric substrate determines the distance between the antenna center and the edge of a substrate to obtain the minimum mutual coupling between a pair of microstrip patch antennas. The optimum substrate size with the minimum mutual coupling is easily calculated using the image method. The optimum substrate sizes using the linage method are in good agreement with the results obtained by the full wave simulation.

  • This paper is analysis on usefulness of Microstrip patch antenna design using Taguchi's Orthogonal array. For comparison, the shape of U-slot and Feed line elements are decided as a parameter in Microstrip patch antenna. And all the possible result of 19,683 times simulation using parameter sweep and the result of Taguchi's orthogonal arrays are compared. The simulation of Parameter sweep and Orthogonal arrays has 3.7% error on 10dB Bandwidth. Finally, It is identified that 19,683 times parameter sweep simulation can be reduced to 27 times with Taguchi's orthogonal arrays but still it represents antenna parameter characters well.

  • A linearly polarized folded type and H-shape slit folded type microstrip patch antenna at GPS(center frequency:1.575 GHz) were designed and fabricated by folding a conventional single $\lambda_{g}/2(\lambda_{g}:wavelength)$ rectangular patch a half along the length direction at the center of patch and inserting ground plane in the middle. As a result, two types of omnidirectional radiation patterns for E-plane (for zx-plane) in the direction of the length of patch and H-plane (for xy-plane) have been acquired. The experimental results show that the average gains of folded type and slit folded type for omnidirectional E-plane and H-plane are -1.5 dBd (-2.4 dBd) and -3.27 dBd(-2.5 dBd). Slit folded type microstrip patch antenna was more miniaturized than folded type microstrip patch antenna by 27.5 %. In case of slit folded type antenna, average gains of omnidirectional radiation pattern for E & H-plane are almost same.

  • The modern society has become entry into the information age after the spread of Internet. In the information age, internet was developed from the wired access to the wireless Internet access. When a surge in demand for wireless Internet access, performance and speed of 2.4 and 5GHz band for Wi-Fi which leads to saturation of the communication was significantly fall. Accordingly, the communication of the 6GHz band for Wi-Fi 6E came to be interested. In this paper, we studied the design and fabrication of microstrip patch antenna to be used in wireless communication systems operating at around 6GHz band. To obtain antenna parameters such as patch size, inter patch space, antenna was simulated by HFSS(High Frequency Structure Simulator). From these parameters, slot microstrip patch antenna is fabricated using FR-4 of dielectric constant 4.4. The characteristics of fabricated patch type microstrip antenna were analyzed by network analyzer.

  • In this paper, a dual band microstrip patch Antenna is designed for RFID Application. The antenna shows a good performance at the frequencies, 900MHz and 2.45GHz for the radiation characteristics and input impedance matching, as well. The reflection factor is lower than -25dB and a good directivity higher than 5dB is achieved for both frequency.

  • This paper describes the design of a coplanar-stripline(CPS) antenna without via hole in microstrip patch type for 910MHz RFID tags using the HFSS simulator. In order to obtain the simplified fabrication design of the antenna, we have used only an impedance matching network to match the impedance of a RFID-tag chip to that of the antenna, not using bandpass filter(BPF). In advance of the optimized antenna design, we have obtained and shown a good agreement compared with the published antenna for 5.8GHz in order to verify the simulation parameters in the HFSS. Based on the verified simulation parameters in the HFSS, we have designed and optimized the 910MHz-CPS-type microstrip patch antenna. The designed simulation results of the antenna show that the proposed antenna is very proper for RFID tags with the 910MHz center frequency without via hole in the microstrip patch antenna.

  • A cavity-backed microstrip patch antenna for a monopulse radar system is designed and fabricated. Also, this antenna is shown to be suitable for the system by analyzing the measured results. Since the azimuthal beamwidth required by this system is quite broad compared to that of a usual microstrip antenna, the width of a microstrip patch is reduced considerably. The decrease of an antenna bandwidth due to the reduced patch width is compensated by increasing the effective substrate thickness. A detection range and a detection probability is calculated from the measured gain at a given angle, and this result shows that the fabricated antenna can be applied well to this monopulse radar system.

  • This paper deals with the design of a microstrip line feed toppled T shaped microstrip patch antenna that gives dualband characteristics at 4 GHz and 6.73 GHz respectively. The simulation of proposed antenna geometry has been performed using method of moment based IE3D simulation software. A radial basis function neural network (RBFNN) is used for the estimation of bandwidth for dualband at 4 GHz and 6.73 GHz respectively. In RBFNN model, antenna parameters such as dielectric constant, height of substrate, and width are used as input and bandwidth of first and second band is considered as output of the network. To validate the RBFNN output, an antenna has been physically fabricated on glass epoxy substrate. The fabricated antenna can be utilized in S and C bands applications. RBFNN results are found in close agreement with simulated and experimental results.
