  • This paper deals with wind fragility and risk analysis of high rise buildings subjected to stochastic wind load. Conventionally, such problems are dealt in full Monte Carlo Simulation framework, which requires extensive computational time. Thus, to make the procedure computationally efficient, application of metamodelling technique in fragility analysis is explored in the present study. Since, accuracy by the conventional Least Squares Method (LSM) based metamodelling is often challenged, an efficient Moving Least Squares Method based adaptive metamodelling technique is proposed for wind fragility analysis. In doing so, artificial time history of wind load is generated by three wind field models: i.e., a simple one based on alongwind component of wind speed; a more detailed one considering coherence and wind directionality effect, and a third one considering nonstationary effect of mean wind. The results show that the proposed approach is more accurate than the conventional LSM based metamodelling approach when compared to full simulation approach as reference. At the same time, the proposed approach drastically reduces computational time in comparison to the full simulation approach. The results by the three wind field models are compared. The importance of non-linear structural analysis in fragility evaluation has been also demonstrated.

  • Metamodels using response surface methodology (RSM) are used for the optimality analysis of linear programming (LP). They have the form of a simple polynomial, and predict the optimal objective function value of an LP for various levels of the constraints. The metamodelling techniques for optimality analysis of LP can be applied to large-scale LP models. What is needed is some large-scale application of the techniques to verify how accurate they are. In this paper, we plan to use the large scale LP model, strategic transport optimal routing model (STORM). The developed metamodels of the large scale LP can provide some useful information.

  • A homing torpedo's performance can be expressed a function of many variables, i.e. technical and tactical variables. When designing a homing torpedo, these variables have to be decided upon. The system effectiveness of a homing torpedo can be determined by analyzing of these variables. This paper describes a procedure of simulation metamodelling using a Factor Analysis methodology. A simulation model was used in order to obtain the data base for analyzing detection probability of torpedo. By analyzing the main and interaction effects these variables on the analysis of detection probability, we will show the importance of certain variables, of a homing torpedo.

  • Some process algebras were applied to enterprise business modelling for formal specification and verification. ${\pi}$-calculus and mobile ambient can be considered for the distributed and mobile, especially to represent the movements of distributed real-time business processes. However there are some limitations to model the movements: 1) ${\pi}$-calculus passes the name of port for indirect movements, and 2) mobile ambient uses ambient to synchronize asynchronous movements forcefully. As a solution to the limitations, this paper presents a new process algebra, called ${\delta}$-calculus, to specify direct and synchronous movements of business processes over geo-temporal space. Any violation of safety or security of the systems caused by the movements can be indicated by the properties of the movements: synchrony, priority and deadline. A tool, called SAVE, was developed on ADOxx metamodelling platform to demonstrate the concept.
