고장력 강판(SPFC590)의 레이저 용접부 피로거동 평가 (Evaluation of Fatigue Behavior for Laser Welded High Strength Steel Sheets (SPFC590))

  • Deep and narrow welds can be produced by laser welding at high welding speeds with a narrow heat-affected zone (HAZ) and little distortion of the workpiece. This study aims to evaluate the usefulness of laser welding at automobile component manufacture. Microstructure observation, hardness test, tensile test and fatigue life test are performed by using the fiber laser welded SPFC590 steel sheets which is used widely in the manufacture of automotive seat frame. Three kinds of specimens are only a SPFC590 steel plate, quasi-butt joint plate and lap joint plate by laser welding. The following results that will be helpful to understand the static strength, fatigue crack initiation and growth mechanism were obtained. (1) The tensile strength of quasi butt joint specimens nearly equal to base metal specimens, but lap joint specimens fractured in shear area of weld metal. (2) The fatigue strength of quasi-butt joint specimen was approximately 8 percent lower than that of the base metal specimens. Furthermore, the lap joint specimens were less than 86 percent of the base metal specimens. (3) The lap joint fatigue specimens fractured at shear area in high level stress amplitude, while fractured at normal area in low level stress amplitude. From these results, the applicability of the laser welding to the automobile component is discussed.

초청정한 Si 기판 위에서 Ti의 초기 반응 (Initial Reactions of Ti on the Atomically Clean Si Substrates)

  • Ti과 Si의 초기 반응이 Titanium Silicide의 표면 거칠기 (Surface roughness)를 고찰하기 위해 연구하였다. 형성기구는 In-situ AES와 LEED의 측정장비로 연구하였다. Ti의 하나나 두 원자층이 초고진공에서 원자적으로 깨끗한 Si 기판 위에 증착되었다. Reconstruction이 된 $7{\times}7$ Si(111) 표면이 초 고진공하에서 얻어졌으며 박막의 증착은 Quartz Crystal Oscillator로 측정되었다. In-situ 측정 결과 Ti과 Si의 초기 반응이 실온에서 일어났으며 Disorder막을 형성하였다. 낮은 온도($200^{\circ}C{\sim}300^{\circ}C$)에서 Ti과 Si의 Intermixing이 고찰되었고 $400^{\circ}C$ 근처에서 $1{\times}1$ Si(111) LEED 패턴이 관찰되었다. 이것은 Disorder막이 Order막으로 변화가 생긴 것을 나타낸다. 더 높은 온도에서 $7{\times}7$ Si(111) LEED 패턴이 재관찰되었는데 이것은 3차원적인 $TiSi_2$의 형성을 증명하는 것이다.

Fe-30%Ni-0.35%C 합금에서 Ausformed Martensite의 기계적 성질에 미치는 Tempering처리의 영향 (Effect of Tempering Treatment on Mechanical Properties of Ausformed Martensite in Fe-30% Ni-0.35%C Alloy)

  • In order to investigate the effect of tempring treatment on the mechanical properties of ausformed martensite in Fe-30%Ni-0.35%C alloy, the hardness, yield strength and elongation were examined by tensile test. 1. The strength of deformed austenite in Fe-30%Ni-0.35%C alloy was increased due to the work hardening induced from the dislocation density increased during deformation. The strength of ausformed martensite was increased because of defects inherited from deformed austenite by martensitic transformation. 2. The ductility of ausformed martensite was shown a nearly constant values independent of deformation degrees because of the interaction of multiple factors such as increased retained austenite, formation of void and decrement of twin in ausformed martensite. 3. The strength of ausformed martensite by tempering treatment was shown a little decrement up to $340^{\circ}C$, especially showed remarkable softening resistance in higher deformation degrees. 4. Virgin martensite and ausformed martensite were shown a maximum yield strength by clustering in tempering at $100^{\circ}C$ and above $100^{\circ}C$, yield strength was very small decreased due to the decrement of solute carbon by the destruction of clustering. 5. The decomposition of retained austenite was not shown up to $450^{\circ}C$ in ausformed martensite with tempering treatment, and the matrix was rapidly softening because of the decomposition of martensite and the formation of reversed austenite with tempering above $400^{\circ}C$.

Mo 나노분말의 소결거동 및 기계적 특성 (Sintering Behavior and Mechanical Property of Mo Nanopowders)

  • The sintering behavior and mechanical property of Mo nanopowder was investigated as a function of various sintering condition. Mo oxide nanopowders were milled using a high energy ball-milling process. After the ball milling for 20h, the crystalline size of $MoO_3$ was about 20 nm. The $MoO_3$ nanopowders were reduced at the temperature of $800^{\circ}C$ without holding time in $H_2$ atmosphere. The sinterability of Mo nanopowder and commercial Mo powder was investigated by dilatometric analysis. Mo nanopowder and commercial Mo powder were sintered at $1200^{\circ}C$ for 1 hand $1500^{\circ}C$ for 3 h, respectively. In both specimens the measured relative density was about 95%. But the measured hardness values were 2.34 GPa for nanopowder and 1.87 GPa for commercial powder. Probably due to finer grain size of the sintered body prepared from Mo nanopowder than that prepared using commercial Mo powder. The mean grain sizes were measured to be about 1.4 mm and 6.2 mm, respectively.

  • 폭발성 및 가연성 가스의 종류 및 그 정량화론 위한 10개의 개별 센서가 하나의 기판 위에 집적시킨 센서 어레이를 개발하였다. 이 센서어레이는 여러 가지 가연성 가스(부탄, 메탄, 프로판, 일산화탄소, LPG)에 대해서 차별화 된 감도 패턴을 가지도록, 나노 사이즈의 grain를 가지는 $SnO_2$를 모 물질로 하는 10개의 서로 다근 감지 물질로 구성하였고, 센서어레이 전반에서 균일한 온도 분포가 되도록 히터를 기판에 내장시켰다. $400^{\circ}C$에서 동작하는 어레이상의 센서들은 저농도에서도 고감도와 재현성의 특성을 보여 주었다. 이들 감도패턴을 이용하여, 주성분 분석 기법을 통해 환경기준치(LEL, TLV) 범위에서 부탄, 프로판, 메탄, LPG의 폭발성 및 가연성 가스의 종류 인식 및 정량화 할 수 있었다. 그리고, 주성분 분석 기법으로 치적 센서 개수 선정에 응용하였다.

  • X-선 광전자 분광법을 이용해 산화처리 조건을 달리하여 제조한 $Nd_{14}Fe_{80}B_6$ 조성의 리본합금 표면에서의 산화거동을 조사하였다. 산화 초기 "as-received" 상태의 표면 가장 바깥층은 Nd가 Fe에 비해 더욱 빨리 산화가 일어나 주로 Nd 산화물로 형성되고 Fe는 내부에서 금속상태로 존재하였다. 산화처리 시간이 증가하면 "as-received" 상태에 비해 가장 바깥층에 Fe의 상대적 조성이 증가하기 시작하였으며 산화가 진행됨에 따라 표면에서 먼저 형성된 Nd 산화층을 통해서 점진적으로 Fe 산화층이 형성되는 것으로 나타났다. 산화가 더욱더 진행되면 산화막 바깥층에는 Fe의 상대적 조성이 Nd의 조성 보다 오히려 풍부해지며 Nd는 바깥층보다 산화층 내부에서 풍부해지는 층상구조 형태의 산화막을 형성하였다.

후열처리에 따른 Cu-NiCrBSi 이종 레이저 클래드부의 미세조직 및 기계적 성질 변화 (Effect of Post-clad Heat Treatment on Microstructures and Mechanical Properties of Cu-NiCrBSi Dissimilar Laser Clads)

  • For surface hardening of a continuous casting mold component, a fundamental metallurgical investigation on dissimilar laser clads (Cu-NiCrBSi) is performed. In particular, variation behavior of microstructures and mechanical properties (hardness and wear resistance) of dissimilar clads during long-term service is clarified by performing high-temperature post-clad heat treatment (temperature range: 500 ~ 1,000 ℃ and isothermal holding time: 20 ~ 500 min). The microstructures of clad metals (as-clads) consist of fine dendrite morphologies and severe microsegregations of the alloying elements (Cr and Si); substrate material (Cu) is clearly confirmed. During the post-clad heat treatment, the microsegregations are totally homogenized, and secondary phases (Cr-based borides and carbides) precipitated during the short-term heat treatment are also almost dissolved, especially at the heat treatment conditions of 950 ℃ for 500 min. Owing to these microstructural homogenization behaviors, an opposite tendency of the surface mechanical properties can be confirmed. In other words, the wear resistance (wear rate) improves from 4.1 × 10-2 ㎣/Nm (as-clad condition) to 1.4 × 10-2 ㎣/Nm (heat-treated at 950 ℃ for 500 min), whereas the hardness decreases from 453 HV (as-clad condition) to 142 HV (heat-treated at 950 ℃ for 500 min).

Effects of Nb Content and Thermal History on the Mechanical and Corrosion Characteristics of Stainless Steels

  • Due to excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical properties, austenitic stainless steel is widely used as the material for chemical plants. nuclear power plants, and food processing facilities. But, the zone affected by heat in the range of 400 to $800^{\circ}C$ during welding loses corrosion resistance and tensile strength since Cr-carbide precipitation like $Cr_{23}C_6$ forms at the grain boundary and thereby takes place the intergranular corrosion. In this study, AISI 304 stainless steel with the added Nb of 0.3 to 0.7 wt% was solutionized at $1050^{\circ}C$ and sensitized at $650^{\circ}C$. Specimen was welded by MIG. The phase and the microstructure of the specimens were examined by an optical microscope, a scanning electron microscope, and a x-ray diffractometer. The corrosion characteristics of specimens were tested by electrolytic etching and by double loop electrochemical potentiokinetic reactivation method(EPR) in the mixed solution of 0.5M $H_2SO_4$ + 0.01M KSCN. The melting zone had dendritic structure constituted of austenitic phase and $\delta$-ferrite phase. Cr carbide at the matrix did not appear, as Nb content increased. At the grain boundaries of the heat affected zone, the precipitates decreased and the twins appeared. The hardness increased, as Nb content increased. The hardness was highest in the order of the heat affected zone>melted zone>matrix. According to EPR curve, as the Nb content decreased, the reactivation current density(Ir) and the activation current density(la) were highest in the order of the melted zone

치아색으로 코팅된 NiTi 와이어의 전기화학적 특성 (Electrochemical Characteristics of Tooth Colored NiTi Wire)

  • NiTi alloy has been used for orthodontic wire due to good mechanical properties, such as elastic strength, friction resistance, and high corrosion resistance. Recently, these wire were coated by polymer and ceramic materials for aesthetics. The purpose of this study was to investigate electrochemical characteristics of tooth colored NiTi wire using various instruments. Wires (round type and rectangular type) were used, respectively, for experiment. Polymer coating was carried out for wire. Specimen was investigated with optical microscopy (OM), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS). The corrosion properties of the specimens were examined using potentiodynamic tests (potential range of -1500 ~ 2000 mV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (frequency range of 100 kHz ~ 10 mHz) in a 0.9 % NaCl solution by potentiostat. From the results of polarization behavior, the passive region of non-coated NiTi wire showed largely, whereas, the passive region of curved NiTi wire showed shortly in anodic polarization curve. In the case of coated NiTi wire, pitting and crevice corrosion occurred severely at interface between non-coated and coated region. From the results of EIS, polarization resistance(Rp) value of non-coated round and rectangular NiTi wire at curved part showed $5.10{\times}10^5{\Omega}cm^2$ and $4.43{\times}10^5{\Omega}cm^2$. lower than that of coated NiTi wire. $R_p$ of coated round and rectangular NiTi wire at curved part showed $1.31{\times}10^6{\Omega}cm^2$ and $1.19{\times}10^6{\Omega}cm^2$.

A Study on Solidification and Wear Character of Multi-alloyed White Cast Iron

  • 응고 및 마모거동을 연구하기 위하여 Cr, V, Mo 및 W의 조성이 다른 3종류의 백주철을 주조하였다. 고주파유도용해로에서 장입시켜 1873K까지 승온시켜 장입원료들을 모두 용해시킨 후 1823K에서 Y블럭주형에 주입하였다. 얻어진 3종류의 백주철조성은 다음과 같다: Fe-3%C-10%Cr-5%Mo-5%W(합금1), Fe-3%C-10%V-5%Mo-5%W(합금2) 및 Fe-3%C-17%Cr-3%V(합금 3)응고과정을 추적하기 위하여 각 시편으로부터 50g을 채취한 후 알루미나도가니에 넣고 실리콘카바이드로를 사용하여 1723K의 알콘분위기하에서 재용해를 시켰다. 용금을 10K/분의 속도로 냉각시키면서 열분석을 행하였으며 도중 몇 차례 소입 실험을 병행하였다.합금1의 경우 초정오스테나이트, (오스테나이트+$M_7C_3$)공정, (오스테나이트+$M_6C$)공정, 합금2의 경우 초정 MC, 초정오스테나이트, (오스테나이트+MC)공정 , (오스테나이트+$M_2C$)공정, 합금3의 경우 초정 $M7C_3$와 (오스테나이트+$M_7C_3$)공정으로 구성되어 있었다. 주방상태, 균질화열처러상태, 공냉상태, 템퍼링상태에서 내마모시험을 행하였다. 먼저 주방상태시 편을 진공분위기하에서 1223K에서 5시간동안 균질화열처리를 행한후 로냉을 시켰다. 다시 이 시편을 1323K에서 2시간 유지후 강제공냉을 시켰으며 강제공냉된 시편을 573K에서 3시간동안 템퍼링처리를 하였다. 내마모시험은 120 mesh마모지에 10N의 하중을 가하여 실시하였다. 각 사이클마다 무게감소를 측정하였으며 8번 반복실험을 하였다. 마모량은 균질화열처리시편, 주방상태시편, 템퍼링시편, 공냉시편의 순으로 감소하였다. 합금2가 마모량이 가장 적었으며 합금3이 가장 많았다. 합금2의 마모량이 가장 적은 이유는 조직이 초정 MC, 공정 MC 및 공정 M2C로 구성되어 있기 때문으로 사료된다.주방상태에서 기지조직은 퍼얼라이트이었으나 열처리를 통하여 마르텐사이트, 템퍼드마르텐사이트, 잔류오스테나이트로 변태하였다. 이상의 결과를 종합해 보면 MC가 내마모성에 가장 기여하는 조직으로 판단되어진다.
