Ti 및 Ti계 세라믹스에 의한 Al합금의 표면복합합금화 (Formation of Ti and Ti ceramics composite layer on aluminium alloy)

  • Plasma Transferred arc(PTA) hard facing process has been developed to obtain an overlay weld metal having excellent wear resistance. The effect of Ti, TiSi$_{2}$ and TiC powders addition on the surface of Aluminum alloy 5083 has been investigated with PTA process. This paper describes the result of test the performance of the overlay weld metal. The result can be summarized as follows 1. Intermetallic compound is formed on surface of base metal in Ti or TiSi$_{2}$ powder but the reaction with surface of base metal is little seen in TiC powder. 2. In formation of composite layer on aluminum alloy surface by plasma transferred arc welding process, high melting ceramics like TiC powder is excellent. 3. The multipass welding process is available for formation of high density of powder. But the more number of pass, the less effect of powder, it is considered, and limits of number of pass. 4. By increasing area fraction of TiC powder on Al alloy surface, in especially TiC powder the hardness increase more than 40% area fraction and 88% shows about Hv 700.

  • Diamond 공구용 Co-0.5C-(15∼20)Cr-20Ni-8W-(2∼7)Fe 합금 결합제를 볼밍링(ball-milling)법과 기계적 합금화(mechanical alloying) 법으로 합성하였다. stearic acid의 첨가 유무에 상관없이 Co-0.5C-(15∼20)Cr-20Ni-8W-(2∼7)Fe 합금의 경우 6시간 동안 합금화된 금속 분말에서 미세 접합(micro welding) 형상이 균일하게 관찰되었다. stearic acid를 첨가하지 않을 때는 부분적으로 조대화된 분말이 형성되었으나 2% 첨가한 경우 미세하고 판상의 분말이 얻어졌다. stearic acid가 첨가된 복합분말을 열간 압축하여 기계적 성질을 평가한 결과 굽힘강도 1100MPa, 경도 46H(sub)Rc의 특성을 나타냈다.

나피온-알루미나 복합막을 사용한 이온성 폴리머-금속 복합체 작동기의 제작 및 성능 평가 (Preparation and Actuation Performance of Ionic Polymer-Metal Composite Actuators Based on Nafion-Alumina Composite Membranes)

  • 전기활성 고분자 중의 하나인 이온성 폴리머-금속 복합체(ionic polymer-metal composites, IPMC) 작동기는 전압 인가 시 고분자전해질 내부에 존재하는 양이온과 물이 음극 방향으로 이동하면서 변위를 발생시킨다. 이러한 IPMC의 전해질은 높은 보습력, 프로톤 전도도 및 기계적 강도를 지녀야 하며, 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 IPMC의 고분자전해질인 나피온 층에 $\alpha$-, $\gamma$-알루미나를 $4{\sim}8$ wt%의 함량으로 도입하여 나피온-알루미나 복합막을 제조하고 그 특성을 확인하였다. 알루미나의 함량이 증가함에 따라, 나피온 복합막의 프로톤 전도도는 조금씩 감소하는 경향을 보였으며, $\alpha$-알루미나에 비해 $\gamma$-알루미나를 첨가하였을 때 전도도 감소가 더욱 컸다. 나피온-알루미나 복합막의 기계적 모듈러스는 37.16 MPa인 순수 나피온 막에 비해 모든 함량에서 $7{\sim}13\;MPa$ 높았다. 또한 준비된 나피온-알루미나 복합막을 이용하여 IPMC를 제작하였고 직류 3 V의 인가전압 하에서 작동성능을 평가하였다. 나피온-알루미나-IPMC, 특히 8 wt%의 $\alpha$-알루미나가 첨가된 IPMC는 기존 나피온-IPMC에 비해 작동변위는 2.7배 향상되었고 작동력 또한 크게 향상되었다. $\alpha$-알루미나의 첨가에 따른 작동성능의 향상은 $\gamma$-알루미나가 첨가된 복합막에 비해 상대적으로 높은 $\alpha$-알루미나 복합막의 양성자 전도도 그리고 잘 분산된 알루미나 입자 표면에 존재하는 다량의 수분에 의한 이온/물 이동의 용이성, 또한 순수 나피온 막에 비해 전해질 막과 백금전극 사이의 낮은 전기적 저항 때문인 것으로 결론지었다.

금속 보스 압력분포비 설계 변경에 따른 복합재 연소관 파열압력에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Burst Pressure of Composite Motor Case due to the Change of Metal Boss PDR Design)

  • 연소가스에 의한 내압 조건에서 필라멘트 와인딩 공법으로 제작되는 복합재 연소관은 돔에서 구조적으로 취약해진다. 본 논문에서는 압력분포비(PDR) 변화에 따른 복합재 돔의 파열압력을 비교하기 위해 유한 요소 해석을 수행하였다. 돔 내/외면 응력, 금속 보스 체적을 산출함으로써, 정량적으로 복합재 연소관의 성능을 비교하였다. 그 결과, PDR 2.5-3.0에서 파손 모드의 임계점이 존재함을 확인하였다. PDR 2.5-3.5 설계는 연소관 파열압력의 변동 없이 금속 보스 무게 감량이 가능하며, 돔 형상 및 오프닝 크기에 대해 설계 기준값이 변경되므로 해석 및 시험을 통한 규명이 필요하다.

INVESTIGATION OF A STRESS FIELD EVALUATED BY ELASTIC-PLASTIC ANALYSIS IN DISCONTINUOUS COMPOSITES

  • A closed form solution of a composite mechanics system is performed for the investigation of elastic-plastic behavior in order to predict fiber stresses, fiber/matrix interfacial shear stresses, and matrix yielding behavior in short fiber reinforced metal matrix composites. The model is based on a theoretical development that considers the stress concentration between fiber ends and the propagation of matrix plasticity and is compared with the results of a conventional shear lag model as well as a modified shear lag model. For the region of matrix plasticity, slip mechanisms between the fiber and matrix which normally occur at the interface are taken into account for the derivation. Results of predicted stresses for the small-scale yielding as well as the large-scale yielding in the matrix are compared with other theories. The effects of fiber aspect ratio are also evaluated for the internal elastic-plastic stress field. It is found that the incorporation of strong fibers results in substantial improvements in composite strength relative to the fiber/matrix interfacial shear stresses, but can produce earlier matrix yielding because of intensified stress concentration effects. It is also found that the present model can be applied to investigate the stress transfer mechanism between the elastic fiber and the elastic-plastic matrix, such as in short fiber reinforced metal matrix composites.

A STUDY ON THE TRIBOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF FeCrSi/A366.0 ALLOY COMPOSITES

  • In this paper, we study about wear properties for the metal matrix composites fabricated by low pressure infiltration process. Metal fiber preform reinforced aluminum alloy composite were fabricated by low pressure casting process under 0.4MPa. Infiltration condition was changed the pressure infiltration time of 1 s, 2 s and 5 s under a constant pressure of 0.4MPa. The molten alloy completely infiltrated the FeCrSi metal perform regardless of the increase in the pressure acceleration time. However, the infiltration time at the pressure acceleration time of 1s was shorter than at the pressure acceleration time of 2s or 5s. The FeCrSi/A366.0 composite was investigated the porosity. The porosity is reducing as the pressure acceleration time compared with the pressure acceleration time of 2s and 5s. The FeCrSi/A366.0 composites were investigated the wear resistance. FeCrSi/A366.0 composite at pressure acceleration time of 1s has excellent wear resistance.

Preparation of a Composite of Sulfated Zirconia/Metal Organic Framework and its Application in Esterification Reaction

  • A porous metal-organic framework (MOF), MIL-101, was synthesized in the presence of sulfated zirconia (SZ) to produce acidic SZ/MIL-101 composites for the first time. The composites were characterized with XRD, nitrogen adsorption, FT-IR, scanning electron microscope, chemical analysis and so on. The composites (SZ/MIL-101s) were successfully applied in a liquid-phase esterification for a high yield of ester. This catalytic result of SZ/MIL-101, compared with that of pure SZ or MIL-101 (showing a negligible yield of ester), suggests that the SZ in the composite is highly active in the acid catalysis probably because of the well-dispersed active species of SZ. Moreover, the esterification is catalyzed in heterogeneous mode as confirmed by negligible esterification after filtration of the catalyst. Finally, microwaves can be efficiently applied both in the synthesis of the composites and the esterification reaction to accelerate the two processes of synthesis and esterification by about 5 times.

  • 6061Al-SiCP metal matrix composite materials(MMCs) were fabricated by injecting SiCP particles directly into the atomized spray. The main attraction of this technique is the rapid fabrication of semi-finished, composite products in a combined atomization, particulate injection(10 $\mu\textrm{m}$, 40 $\mu\textrm{m}$, SiCP) and deposition operation. Conclusions obtained are as follows; The microstructure of the unreinforced spray formed 6061Al alloy consisted of relatively fine(50 $\mu\textrm{m}$) equiaxed grains. By comparision, the microstructure of the I/M materials was segregated and consisted of relatively coarse(150 $\mu\textrm{m}$) grains. The probability of clustering of SiCP particles in co-sprayed metal matrix composites increased it ceramic particle size(SiCP) was reduced and the volume fraction was held constant. Analysis of overspray powders collected from the spray atomization and deposition experiments indicated that morphology of powders were nearly spherical and degree of powders sphercity was deviated due to composite with SiCp particles. Interfacial bonding between matrix and ceramics was improved by heat treatment and addition of alloying elements(Mg). Maximum hardness values [Hv: 165 kg/mm2 for Al-10 $\mu\textrm{m}$ SiCp Hv--159 kg/mm2 for Al-40 $\mu\textrm{m}$SiCp] were obtained through the solution heat treatment at $530^{\circ}C$ for 2 hrs and aging at $178^{\circ}C$, and there by the resistance were improved.

Using scratch test to evaluate cohesive bond strength of Mo composite coating

  • Bonding strength of a thermal sprayed coating is difficult to measure using a conventional pull-off test method. Scratch test is a potential alternative testing method. An adhesive and a cohesive bond strength of the coating can be measured by the pull-off test while the scratch test performed on the cross-section of the thermal sprayed coating can only demonstrate the cohesive bond strength of the coating. Nevertheless, it is still beneficial to perform the scratch testing on the cross-section of the coating for the sake of comparison thus providing an alternative to the pull-off test. The scratch test method can reduce testing time and cost in the long run due to a significant cost reduction in consumables and energy and time saving from the curing step of the glue used in the pull-off test. This research investigates the possibility of using the scratch test to measure the cohesive bond strength of Mo/NiCrBSi composite coating. The results from the pull-off test and the scratch test indicate that the cohesive bond strengths of the Mo composite coating show similar trend and that the cohesive bond strength are increased when increasing NiCrBSi content.

마이크로 펌프 응용을 위한 이온성 고분자-금속 복합체를 이용한 멤브레인형 마이크로 액추에이터 제작에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Fabrication of a Membrane Type Micro=Actuator Using IPMC(Ionic Polymer-Metal Composite) for Micro-Pump Application)

  • IPMC(Ionic Polymer-Metal Composite) is a highly sensitive actuator that shows a large deformation in presence of low applied voltage. Generally, IPMC can be fabricated by electroless plating of platinum on both sides of a Nafion (perfluorosulfonic acid) film. When a commercial Nafion film is used as a base structure of the IPMC membrane, the micro-pump structure and the IPMC membrane are fabricated separately and then later assembled, which makes the fabrication inefficient. Therefore, fabrication of an IPMC membrane and the micro-pump structure on a single wafer without the need of assembly have been developed. The silicon wafer was partially etched to hold liquid Nafion to be casted and a 60-${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ thick IPMC membrane was realized. IPMC membranes with various size were fabricated by casting and they showed 4-2${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ displacements from $4mm{\times}4mm$ , $6mm{\times}6mm$, $8mm{\times}8mm$ membranes at the applied voltage ranging from 2Vp-p to 5Vp-p at 0.5Hz. The displacement of the fabricated IPMC membranes is fairly proportional to the membrane area and the applied voltage.
