수용자특성 및 금연광고 메시지가 지식․신념․태도에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Knowledge, Beliefs and Attitudes on Anti-Smoking Public Service Announcement Message Types and Audience Characteristics)

  • Objectives: In this study, the most executed social norm and advertisement about health consequences status were examined. The direction of effective anti-smoking advertisement is suggested in this study by figuring out the primary factors which affect smoking attitudes. Methods: The survey period of this study was from Nov $5^{th}$ to Nov $16^{th}$, 2012. 423 complete questionnaires were used for final analysis. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS Ver. 14.0, and reliability analysis, factor analysis, frequency analysis, F/t qualification, t-test, and multiple regression analysis, were performed. Results: This study is worth as a diagnosis of current status by using advertisement about social norm(51.4%) and health result(34.3%), which covers total of 85% in appeal types of anti-smoking advertisement that has been practically used in Korea. As a result, the health result type showed better result on belief and attitude. Conclusions: When establishing message strategy for anti-smoking advertisement, this study can help future direction for effective anti-smoking advertisement by figuring out effect of factors on smoking attitude.

  • At present, various technologies are rapidly advancing, centering on the concept of virtuality. From the technology of virtual reality, which allows us to experience the senses as if they existed, to the technology of augmented reality, which provides new information or services based on reality, they are no longer strange things for ourselves because we experience them every day and night. Even though the concept of virtual is very familiar in terms of technology, it is not known how individuals accept the concept of virtuality, how they change our way of thinking, and how their behavior changes. This study aims to approach virtuality perceived by the individual from the viewpoint of individual's information processing. Virtuality is defined as the degree to which the situation facing an individual is far from actual reality. An individual can judge the degree of virtuality easily, which is considered to be a psychological distance which is an important factor in personal information processing. In this study, we have confirmed whether the argument is applied to the real world in the context of advertisement. According to the construal level theory, when an individual feels virtuality at a high level, the individual thinks that the situation they are facing is psychologically distant and accordingly has a high level construal. Therefore, it is more influenced by 'advertisement emphasizing symbolic appeal' which is matching with higher level. On the other hand, when an individual feels a low level of virtuality, the individual thinks that the situation they are facing is psychologically near and thus has a low level construal. Therefore, respondents are more sensitive to functional appeal, which is related to lower level. This study has the theoretical contribution in terms that the degree of virtuality affects the psychological distance of the individual. In addition, the results of this study have practical contribution in terms of being able to be actively used in the information delivery strategy centered on the advertisement.

글로벌 패션광고의 표준화 분석 (Analysis of the Standardization of Global Fashion Advertizing)

  • This study purported to analyze the condition of the degree standardization and types of global ads. in the multinational fashion brand corporations. The analyzed ads. were sampled from monthly magazines on same seasons in 1997. This study was done by means of checklists were modified other researcher's research measurments. Researcher counted of advertising message. Zero point meant perfect stan-dardization and 13 points meant perfect non-standardization. The types of advertising appeal were analyzed according to constituent unit's expression types. The results of the study proved that the degree of standardization was considerably high, which means that the multinational fashion brand corporations used the standardization strategy. In particular, the degree of standardization in sports wear and casual wear ads. was low compared with the degree of standardization in the other ads. Most of the global fashion ads. were composed of illustrations only. Besides, emotional appeal type was usually used in glabal fashion ads.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the denotating of visual message and linguistic message in the advertisement of Jean-wear, and to identify the image type in the advertisement of Jean-wear. Content analysis was done using the advertisement of Jean-wear from several fashion magazines which were published from January, 1996 to August, 1997. The advertisement of Jean-wear reflects the reality using the photos, and is image appeal type, appeals to the model\`s lifestyle, the western value. And that mostly singles person was appeared in the advertisement means solitude in modern society.

친사회성 정책홍보 메시지의 소구유형이 정책수용에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Prosocial PR Appeals on Policy Acceptance: a case of Environmental Policy)

  • 본 연구는 물부족이나 환경오염 방지와 같이 정책이 미치는 개인적인 혜택이 매우 추상적일 뿐 아니라 혜택의 수혜에 장기간이 걸리기 때문에 정책PR 메시지가 개인에 대한 이익을 넘어 다른 사람들과 사회를 위하는 친사회성을 강조해야 할 때, 메시지 유형에 따른 효과차이를 보고자 하였다. 즉 이성적 소구와 감성적 소구가 정책수용에 미치는 영향에는 어떤 차이가 있는지, 그 과정에서 정부 신뢰도, 관여도, 그리고 인구통계학적 요인이 어떤 역할을 하는지 살펴보았다. 연구 결과, 메시지 소구유형과 정부 신뢰도는 상호작용 효과를 보였다. 즉 정부 신뢰도가 높은 경우에는 감성적 소구가 정책수용에 더 효과가 크고, 정부 신뢰도가 낮은 경우에는 이성적 소구가 더 효과가 컸다. 관여도의 경우 정책수용효과에 미치는 주효과는 발견되었으나 메시지 유형과의 상호작용 효과는 없는 것으로 나타났다. 인구통계학적 요인 역시 소구유형과의 상호작용은 발견되지 않았으나, 성별은 정책수용에 대한 태도와 행동의도에, 연령은 행동의도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 밝혀졌다.

  • 이 연구는 자살예방 공익광고 메시지가 프레이밍 유형 (긍정/부정)과 소구유형 (개인/사회)에 따라 수용자의 태도와 인식에 미치는 영향을 검증했다. 광고 메시지 효과에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 개인특성 변인으로는 인지적 정서조절, 자존감과 자기검색도를 설정했다. 메시지 프레이밍 유형에서는 부정적인 메시지보다 긍정적인 메시지가 사람들의 생명존중 태도와 자살에 대한 태도에 미치는 영향이 더 큰 것으로 나타났다. 소구유형 (개인/사회)에 있어서는 사회적 소구가 개인적 소구보다 생명존중에 태도에 미치는 영향이 더 높았다. 개인의 특성 변인 중 인지적 정서조절 수준은 생명존중 태도와 자살에 대한 태도에 유의한 영향을 미쳤다.

The Effect of Warning Labels on Cigarette Packages: Textual vs. Textual-Visual and Self-Efficacy

  • The small number of fusion research that addresses fear-appeal and self-efficacy in the effectiveness of warning labels cause the label is not clear, then the purpose of the study is the first to examine the effect of the combination of the message. With the experimental method, a total of 240 participants were smokers consist of Indonesian university students in the age range 18-23 years. Data obtained then processed with ANOVA statistical methods and Test T. The results are consistent with previous studies that the visual warning labels more effective than the textual warning labels alone. Results also suggest that a warning label should be both visual and textual messages combined with self-efficacy. Limitations, this study does not differentiate among smokers and non-smokers, in addition to the images are used only one type of disease, so that the research needs to be done to distinguish these factors.

온라인 사용자의 비밀번호 보호행위 : 공포 소구와 메시지 프레이밍 효과, 그리고 비밀번호 보호행위의 동기요인 (Online Users' Password Security Behavior : The Effects of Fear Appeals and Message Framing, and Mechanism of Password Security Behavior)

  • Recently, there have been numerous issues about password breaches and it is becoming important for the users to manage their passwords. In practice, the online service provider are asking the online users to change their passwords periodically. However, majority of the users are not changing their passwords regularly, and this can increase the risk of password breach. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether 'fear appeals' and 'message framing' enhance the behavior of changing passwords by the online users. Furthermore, we identify the mechanism on how the behavior of changing passwords is enabled using protection motivation theory. The results of an online experiment show that the online users who are exposed to 'fear appeals' perceived a more vulnerability and severity of password breaches, which in turn, increased the intention of changing their password. In addition, we found that perceived severity of password breaches affect fear positively. Moreover, we found that fear has significant impact on the willingness of changing passwords. Finally, Message framing plays a moderating role between fear and change intentions. That is, in a situation where 'fear appeal' is presented, it means that 'gain framing' is more effective than 'loss framing' These findings suggest that the online service providers may need to use 'fear appeals' to the online users. Security managers can address issues related to the password breaches by carefully designing 'fear appeals'.

리테일 매장에서 제품 희소성이 제품 평가에 미치는 영향: 큐레이션 메시지의 역할을 중심으로 (The Scarcity Effect on Product Evaluation in Retail: The Curation Message Role)

  • Purpose - Many retail stores tend to use scarcity-laden message in order to influence consumers, where scarcity refers to insufficiency of product supply or time of availability. For example, inside stores, the displayed products are often accompanied by scarcity message such as 'exclusive offer, limited time only.' According to past research, scarcity has a positive effect on product evaluation, since scarcity can acts as a signal of consumer demand, and thus product quality. Prior studies argue that consumers face a scarce product, they logically infer that other consumers buying the product in large numbers cause the scarcity. We propose that scarcity can be interpreted as a sales tactic artificially created by retail stores in order to increase sales of product. Research design, data, and methodology - We use a persuasion knowledge perspective framework to develop our hypotheses. In the present research, we show that product curation type is a key variable that moderates consumer response to scarcity, and thus the scarcity effect on product evaluation. Results - In this research, we showed when scarcity-laden message was used inside the store using consumer-centric curation message, scarcity had a positive effect on product evaluation. In contrast, when scarcity-laden message was used inside the store using marketer-centric curation message, the positive of scarcity message on product evaluation was diluted. Conclusions - Our study makes two important contributions to the literature on consumer response to scarcity. First, we identify a variable - namely, product curation type - that determines when either 'scarcity = good' or 'scarcity = marketing tactic' interpretation is likely to be dominant. Second, we cite persuasion knowledge perspective to explain the moderating function of product curation type in a retail store-related scarcity context. This research is relevant to practitioners, such as brand manager, retail environment manager, and advertising agencies, for the effective use for the scarcity-laden message in retail. The proposed moderator can operate in many real-life situations in retail where consumers are exposed to scarcity. And curation message related to scarcity has been facilitated by the inner-retail activities. These factors of the marketplace indicate that the boundary conditions of scarcity can have a significant effect on real-life consumer judgment.

의료기관 홍보담당자의 메시지 프레이밍과 소구유형 선호도가 의료광고에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Advertising Message Framing and Appeal Preferences by Advertising Planners at Medical Institutes on Medical Advertising)

  • Objectives : This study was conducted to examine what types of attributes advertising and promotion staff members working at different medical institutes consider when performing their advertising duties. It also seeks to identify satisfaction levels with the advertising conditions and tasks required of them to perform the actual advertising. Methods : This study subjects were members registered in the address book of the Korean Hospital Public Relations Association with 127 actual test respondents targeted. Results : Regarding the selection of the types of advertising message appeals, those with less than five years of work experience were found to prefer emotional messages, whereas those with more than six years of work experience were found to prefer rational messages. male advertising planners preferred rational messages, whereas female advertising planners preferred emotional messages. Conclusions : The medical advertising facilities at hospitals and equipment to produce the main materials to improve the effectiveness of advertising should be considered.
