  • Although primary tumors in the mesentery and omentum are relatively rare, it is often necessary to distinguish them from other non-tumorous diseases. Since the omentum and mesentery are major routes for the spread of various abdominal diseases, the anatomy, type, and pattern of the diseases affecting these organs should be known in detail for accurate differential diagnosis. In addition, it is important to detect and promptly treat hidden lesions in the mesentery and omentum. Therefore, careful observation of the area where the lesion occur should be emphasized when assessing mesentery and omentum in abdominal CT.

  • Lymphangiomas are malformations of the lymphatic system accounting for approximately 5% of all benign tumors in infants and children. Abdominal lymphangiomas are rare, and can arise from either the retroperitoneum, gastrointestinal tract, or the mesentery of the abdominal viscera. Lymphangioma involving the whole mesentery is particularly rare. Most lymphangiomas are detected during infancy or childhood, but intraabdominal lymphangiomas such as mesentery are not found until adulthood. We report here on a patient with uncommon lymphangioma involving the whole mesentery who presented with fever and abdominal pain. This patient is unusual because he was confirmed through core needle biopsy which showed variable sized lymphatic spaces representing a immunoreactive for D2-40 antibody with involvement of the whole mesentery. No cases of mesenteric lymphangioma confirmed preoperatively have been previously reported in Korea.

  • We call hemangiomatosis if hemangioma arises multifocally from single or multiple organs. It develops predominantly on liver, and there are just few cases of hemangiomatosis from greater omentum and mesentery. Herein, we present the imaging and histopathological findings including CT and MRI images of a 62-year-old male patient with a hemangiomatosis on liver, greater omentum and mesentery.

  • Castleman's disease is a benign lympho-proliferative disorder that commonly occurs in mediastinum. It is known that the disease rarely occurs in mesentery. Most localized abdominal Castleman's diseases are histologically hyaline vascular type. The contrast-enhanced CT in patient with hyaline vascular type Castleman's disease shows a well-defined mass with homogenously intense enhancement. On the other hand, the patient with plasma cell variant has systemic symptoms, but not specific imaging features. We report a unicentric plasma cell variant Castleman's disease in mesentery nearby superior mesenteric artery as presenting a single mass, not accompanied by systemic symptoms with similar characteristics to hyaline vascular type.

  • Hemolymphangioma or hemangiolymphangioma is a rare venolymphatic vascular malformation composed of proliferations or networks of vascular spaces including the lymphatics, capillaries, veins, or arteries. The small bowel is a rare location for hemolymphangioma, and the small bowel mesentery is an even rarer site. Herein, we report a surgically confirmed large complex hemolymphangioma in the small bowel mesentery in a 55-year-old male.

  • Primary mesenteric liposarcoma is rare. It is difficult to make an accurate preoperative diagnosis of the myxoid type of liposarcoma by using imaging such as ultrasound or computed tomography (CT) due to the very small amount of fat that is located in the tumor. We report a case of primary myxoid liposarcoma of the mesentery which was difficult to differentiate from other solid mesenteric tumors with a myxoid component such as low grade fibromyxoid sarcoma, myxoid leiomyosarcoma or myxoma. Use of chemical shift magnetic resonance (MR) imaging to detect small fat components and its cystic appearance with solid components on the MR images can be useful to differentiate myxoid liposarcoma from the other mesenteric tumors with a myxoid component.

  • A case of peritonitis caused by Actinomycotic spp is reported in a 12-year-old male Siberian tiger. Grossly, the mesentery was markedly thickened and contained numerous 1 to 3 mm diameter, white to yellowish foci. Fibrous adhesion showing tumorous thickening was also noted between the mesentery and abdominal organs. Histologicallyi the thickened mesentery and masses consisted of necrotic center with bacterial colonies surrounded by eosinophilic club (Splendore-hoeppli), neutrophils, macrophages, a few Iymphocytes and fibrosis. The bacterial colonies stained positvely with Gram's stain but were negative on acid-fast and periodic acid-Schifr method. Howeverr since the bacterial culture was not availablei the definitive causative agent was not able to specified.

  • Background: Dietary fats can alter the deposition and distribution of body fats in ruminants. The deposition and distribution of body fat play a vital role in the quality of ruminant carcasses and are of great commercial value since they influence the profitability and consumer acceptability of ruminant meat. The current study examined the effects of dietary blend of 80 % canola oil and 20 % palm oil (BCPO) on carcass characteristics, meat yield and accretion of fatty acid (FA) in subcutaneous, omental, perirenal, and mesentery adipose depots and m. supraspinatus (SS) in goats. Methods: Twenty four Boer crossbred bucks (BW $20.54{\pm}0.47kg$) were randomly assigned to diets containing on DM basis 0, 4 and 8 % BCPO, fed for 100 d and harvested. Results: Diet had no effect (P > 0.05) on slaughter weight, dressing percentage, carcass and non-carcass components, meat yield, color, moisture and carotenoid contents and weight of adipose tissues in goats. The proportion of C18:1n-9 and cis-9 trans-11 CLA in the omental, perirenal and SS was higher (P < 0.05) in goats fed 4 and 8 % BCPO compared with the control goats. Dietary BCPO reduced (P < 0.05) the proportion of C14:0 in the omental, perirenal and mesentery depots, C18:0 in the perirenal depot, C16:0 in the SS and C16:1n-7 in the SS, omental and perirenal tissues. Dietary BCPO enhanced the proportion of C18:1 trans-11 Vaccenic and C18:3n-3 in SS and C20:5n-3 in SS and mesentery depot. No significant changes were found in the FA composition of subcutaneous depot. Conclusions: Results indicate that dietary BCPO can be utilized to alter the FA composition of adipose tissues without detrimental effects on carcass characteristics in goats. Nonetheless, dietary BCPO is not an effective repartitioning agent for body fats in goats.

  • Uses a Tomographic scan image and Table Object Distance(TOD) price after measuring, uses accuracy and usability of blood vessel diameter(Vessel Diameter) measurement under comparison evaluating boil TOD Calibration. The patient who enforces Prosecuting Attorney abdomen Tomographic scan in the object the superior mesentery artery uses PACS View from abdomen fault image and from blood vessel diameter and the table measures the height until of the blood vessel. Uses Angio Catheter from Angiography(5 Fr.) and enforces is measured from PACS View the height until of the table which and the blood vessel at TOD Calibration price and the size of the superior mesentery artery inputs measures an superior mesentery artery building skill. Catheter Calibration input Agnio Catheter where uses in Angiography the size of the superior mesentery artery at Catheter Calibration price and they measure. Produced an accuracy from monitoring data and comparison evaluated. The statistical program used SPSS. TOD Calibration accuracy was 96.53%, standard deviation is 0.03829. Catheter Calibration accuracy of 92.91%, standard deviation is 0.05085. Represents a statistically significant difference(p = 0). According to age and gender was not statistically significant(p > 0.05). TOD Calibration correlation coefficient R-squared of 88.8%, Catheter Calibration of the R-squared is 75.5%. High accuracy of both methods. Through this study, CT images using the measured distance between the table and the Object, TOD Calibration accuracy higher than two Catheter Calibration was measured. TOD and Catheter Calibration represents a statistically significant difference(p = 0).

  • An eight-year-old, intact female, Shih-Tzu, weighing 4.5 kg presented with complaints of anorexia, pale mucous membrane, and vomiting for the past 5 days. On physical examination, nausea, abdominal pain, and melena were noted. On hematologic examination, severe anemia and thrombocytosis were identified. On radiographs examination, soft tissue opacity with small faint mineral opacity mass in the mid-abdomen and two mineral opacity regions in the cranial aspect of mass were identified. Ultrasonographic findings showed thickening of descending duodenal wall with loss of layering and mineralization within the duodenal wall and mesentery adjacent to the duodenal lesion. Computerized tomography showed circumferential wall thickening of descending duodenum with mineralization. Mineralization of the mesentery and mesenteric lymph nodes was identified. Based on the diagnostic imaging, the tentative diagnosis was descending duodenal tumor with dystrophic mineralization. Endoscopy revealed mucosal hemorrhage and erythema within the descending duodenum and stomach. Surgery was performed, and mineralization in the pancreatic tail to duodenum and mesentery was found. Resection of the duodenum, regional lymph node, and mineralized pancreatic region and the duodenal anastomosis were performed. The histologic examination revealed a high-grade undifferentiated duodenal carcinoma with metastases to the regional lymph node and mesentery. The patient was managed with supportive therapy for 8 days and discharged. The patient was followed up for 5 months and there were no complications.
