KOMPSAT EOC Grid Reference System

  • The grid reference system (GRS) has been useful for identifying the geographical location of satellite images. In this study we derive a GRS for the KOMPSAT Electro-Optical Camera (EOC) images. The derivation substantially follows the way that SPOT defines for its GRS, but incorporates the KOMPSAT orbital characteristics. The KOMPSAT EOC GRS (KEGRS) is designed to be a (K,J) coordinate system. The K coordinate parallel to the KOMPSAT ground track denotes the relative longitudinal position and the J coordinate represents the relative latitudinal position. The numbering of K begins with the prime meridian of K=1 with K increasing eastward, and the numbering of J uses a fixed value of J=500 at all center points on the equator with J increasing northward. The lateral and vertical intervals of grids are determined to be 12.5 km about at the 38$^{\circ}$ latitude to allow some margins for the value-added processing. The above design factors are being implemented in a satellite programming module of the KOMPSAT Receiving and Processing System (KRPS) to facilitate the EOC data collection planning over the Korean peninsula.

  • All living things including human being consist of soul(spirit) and body. Soul is the root of a life and body frames it. I wrote this paper to tell how internal injury due to endogenous etiological factors and affection due to exogenous pathogenic factors, affect the internal organs and the external bodily from. This paper begins with description of the patterns of disharmony of the internal organs. General disorders of each Five-Jang(五藏) an be classified into two types of soul and body. The Liver and the Heart which lead changing to Yang(陽) of vital energy, have close relationship with spiritual symptoms because spirit is related to Yang. The Lung, Kidneys, the Spleen which lead changing to m(陰) of vital energy, mainly connected with physical disorders because body is relatively close to m. The Five-Jang are ruled by the Five-Phases(五行) system and cause troubles with Oche(五體) and the nine body orifice. Otherwise the main function of the Six-Bu(六府) is to receive food, absorb the usable portions, and transmit and excrete waste. Therefore they can cause such problems as abdominal pain, distention, difficulty in urination, and constipation. The spleen is responsible for sending Grain-Ki(穀氣) so that is closely connected with the six-Bu. The Gall bladder takes care of control of giving out spirit. That's why it presents many symptoms related to the spirit that is ruled by the Five-Jang. Patterns of disharmony of external bodily form is influenced by the state of Meridians. Bodily forms get divided into many parts by the function of six-meridians(六經) to which they belong. Six-meridians have their own function related to excretion, related to excretion, retention, and balance(開闔樞). If local bodily forms get affected by pernicious influences, the Meridians to which they are attached will lose harmony and cannot fulfil their own functions. Because the meridian system unifies all parts of the body, the whole body will be under the influence of the affection although local parts of the bodily forms get affected. Therefore the symptoms of disharmony should be considered in a synthetic view. There are however, also cases which should be focused on the very meridian channels affected. Disorder within a Meridian generates derangement in the pathway make it not to benefit the muscles and skin belong to it. Because the meridians connect the interior organs with the exterior bodily form, they are influenced by each other.

  • The conventional pattern-methods for discrimination of acupoint, meridian line which is the basic object of diagnosis and medical treatment in oriental medicine is discriminated the conduction point by the stimulation in body skin with DC. But, it is not sufficient to truth in discrimination ratio, coincident ratio, body effect, reproductivity. Therefore, this paper is extracting the optimal parameter of frequency and waveform in order to improve the conventional pattern, and proposing the SPAC(Single Power Alternative Current) stimulus pattern applying that. Also, this algorithm proposes to be able to discriminate with low pressure of the electrode by displaying in the level meter both the absolution and relation value of the skin current. It is able to decrease pain and body effect by electrode pressure and discriminate acupoint regardless of skin current in difficult discrimination spot. It is compared the performance of system applying the extracted optimal parameter and algorithm, and it is confirmed that there is difference in discrimination parameter of acupoint reacted to the individual and the meridian. It is compared that discrimination, coincident ratio of the traditional acupoints as the acupoint stimulation pattern. It is confirmed truth of optimal parameter and discrimination algorithm.   • Bee Venom aqua-acupuncture (BVA) simultaneously exerts pharmacological effects of biologically active compounds, existed in the whole bee venom, and medicinal effect of the stimulation of acupuncture points. BVA has been considered as a promising therapeutic method for treating various chronic diseases, mainly accompanying severe pain and inflammation. As a painless injection device, jet injectors have been commercially marketed for various clinical applications including insulin injection and vaccination. Among them, a pressure-driven jet injector system could be used for intradermal delivery of a variety of drugs. The aim of this study was to investigate the analgesic effects of the BVA using a needle-free injector (Biojector $2000^{\circledR}$, Bioject Inc., OR, USA), compared to the conventional BV aqua-acupuncture using a typical syringe. Adult Sprague-Dawley rats were injected with bee venom $(0.08mg/kg,\;50{\mu}l)$ using Biojector $2000^{\circledR}$ (BVA-B) or a syringe (BVA-5) into the Zusanli (ST36) acupoint, 30 minutes before plantar injection of 2% formalin. It was found that BVA-B-, or BVA-5-treated rats, compared to controls, exhibited significantly less licking behavior during the late phase in the rat formalin test, when compared to controls. During early phase, however, those effects were not significant but substantial. The analgesic effect of BVA-B was also compatible with that of the conventional BVA-5. In the immunohistochemical studies, BVA-B significantly suppressed the expression of formalin-evoked c-fos, a biomarker of neuronal activity, in the lumbar dorsal horn of the spinal cord. These results indicated that BVA-B waseffective in the modulation of pain in the rat formalin test, compared to BVA-5. Taken together, the needle-free jet injector system could be substituted for the conventional aqua- acupuncture with the advantage of little pain.

Effects of Acupuncture at the River Points(LU8, HT4, PC5, SP5, KI7, LR4) on the Changes of Nitric Oxide Synthase and Norepinephrine in Rats (백서(白鼠)의 경혈(經穴)(LU8, SP5, HT4, KI7, PC5, LR4) 침자(針刺)가 Nitric Oxide Synthase 및 Norepinephrine의 변화에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • Objectives : The Meridians and acupuncture points are the fundamental theories for acupuncture therapy. They have been associated with nervous system, but It is not well defined. We investigated that the effects of acupuncture at the river points(LU8, HT4, PC5, SP5, KI7, LR4) on the changes in the expression of nNOS, iNOS, eNOS, and NE in rats. Methods : The Male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into 6 groups each non-acupuncture and acupuncture group. We inserted needle and retained for 5 minutes on both left and right sides of LU8, HT4, PC5, SP5, KI7, LR4 which were the river points of five transport points for 6 yin meridian vessels. After that, blood was drawn via cardiac puncture, and tissues for each point near meridian vessels were extracted to examine the changes in the changes of nNOS, eNOS, iNOS and NE. Results : The LU8 and HT4 group showed a significant decrease on nNOS. In terms of eNOS and iNOS, the LU8 group decreased significantly while the KI7 group increased significantly. However, the experimental groups didn't show any significant changes on the plasma and tissue norepinephrine without plama NE in SP5 group. Conclusions : The effect on the nNOS, iNOS, eNOS of acupuncture at LU8 and KI7 could be observed, and it is considered that the effect of acupuncture related with on nervous system could be studied by additional researches based on this one.

The Effects of Cervus elaphus on the Growth and the Intellectual Development of Animals (녹용(鹿茸) 및 녹용약침(鹿茸藥鍼)이 동물(動物)의 성장(成長)과 지능발달(知能發達)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • The effects of Cervus elaphus and Cervus elaphus aquapuncuture on body weight, protein efficiency ratio, body length, serum growth hormone and intellectual development were studied for thirty-four days. The results were summarized as follows. 1. Body weight significantly increased in Cervus elaphus aquapuncture oral administration group compared to GH groups. 2. Protein efficiency ratio had no significant difference within all groups. 3. Body length significantly increased in Cervus elaphus aquapuncture group compared to GH injection group on 3rd day, tail length significantly increased in Cervus elaphus aquapuncture group and Cervus elaphus aquapuncture oral administration group compared to GH injection group but, body length has no significant difference within all groups. 4. Serum GH significantly increased in Cervus elaphus aquapuncture oral administration group compared to that of GH injection group. 5. As results of observing memory acquisition using Morris water maze system, there was no significant difference within all groups. 6. As results of observing retention using Morris water maze system, staying times significantly increased in Cervus elaphus aquapuncture oral administration group compared to that of GH injection group at Ist trial and 3rd trial. 7. As results of observing staining intensity of NADPH-d-positive neurons in tissue of hippocampal part, significant increasing of staining intensity were observed in septum and VDB of hippocampus in Cervus elaphus aquapuncture oral administration group compared to that of GH injection group. According to the above results, it is concluded that Cervus elaphus oral administration and Cervus elaphus aquapuncture on acupoint G39 showed effects on growth and intellectual development of animals.

  • Objectives & Methods : I investigated 45 literature of Oriental and Western medicine about the treatment of pain in shoulder and arm. Result and Conclusion : 1. The etiological causes of Pain in Shoulder and Arm based on literatures of Oriental medicine are attack of wind-heat on the lung, wind cold, damp-heat struggle between the vital energy and pathogenic factor and six pathogenic factors. And all these causes are the conception of blockage syndrome, Qi and blood stagnating in meridian system. 2. The treatment of Pain in Shoulder and Arm based on Oriental medicine is mainly composed of both medical therapy for Bi syndrome due to pathogenic wind, deficiency of both Qi and blood, consumption of the liver and the spleen, and also acupuncture and moxibustion treatment by selection for acupoint. And those treatments are for treating etiology. And also there are treatments using the meridian system and Twelve Muscle Region and Ashihyeol for the purpose of treating the symptoms. 3. The etiological causes of Pain in Shoulder and Arm based on literatures of Western medicine are degenerative cut of tendon and nerve symptoms caused by tendonitis, bursitis, calcification, ruptured cervical disc and thoracic outlet syndrome. 4. The treatment of Pain in Shoulder and Arm based on Western medicine is for alleviation of pain, such as giving an anodyne, steroid products, local anesthetic injection and stretching and strengthening the muscles.

Effects of Acupuncture on Heart Rate Variability in Obese Premenopausal Korean Women

  • Objectives: Although the autonomic nervous system (ANS) is thought to play an important role in treatment of obesity, no study has been conducted to investigate acupuncture's effects on this aspect of the ANS. This study aimed to describe the effects of acupuncture in the ANS by means of heart rate variability (HRV) analysis. Methods: A total of 46 obese women aged from 21 to 54 with body mass index ranging from 25.1 to $39.3kg/m^2$ were recruited and randomized into both the real acupuncture group (n=23) and sham acupuncture group (n=23). A total of 3 instances of HRV analysis were conducted before, during, and after treatment. Statistically significant differences between time and groups were analyzed using repeated measure analysis of variance. Results: All parameters of time domain analysis and frequency domain analysis except for the square root of the mean squared differences of successive normal sinus intervals (RMSSD) and very low frequency (VLF) showed significant differences between times. The mean of all R-R intervals (mean RR) showed significant level of interaction between time and group. Between groups, time domain analysis of standard deviation of the normal-to-normal intervals (SDNN), RMSSD and frequency domain analysis of total power (TP) and high frequency (HF) showed significant differences. Conclusions: The real acupuncture group showed deactivation of parasympathetic function and relative increase of sympathetic activity in obese subjects. Further studies are necessary to uncover the mechanisms of acupuncture in obesity treatment.

  • Oryeong-San, Pangpungtongseong-San, Rangkyeoksanwha-Tang, Sipeemikwanjoong -Tang and Taeumjoui-Tang are not only examined using the code which are related to overweight in the QRIS but are also investigated the level of Free Radical using the Free Radical Measurement after steeping those 5 prescriptions in water. The results are as follows: 1. We indicated in the study of QRIS that 5 kinds of medicines which used most frequently In the treatment of the obesity appeared to affect the Immune system, spleen, kidneys, pancreas, the fatigue toxicity, TSH, and the metabolic disability but did not influence high on the contents of overweight and those of fatty cell, as well. in addition, there were no significant differences between the prescriptions as regards testosterone and progesterone. 2. In the Free Radical Measurement, Rangkyeoksanwha-Tang evaluated significantly high level of Free Radical, whereas others appear to have the similar level of Free Radical. These findings suggest that the treatment of the obesity affects particular body parts with respect to the control of overweight, although those medicines are not related directly to the areas(such as fatty cell Code), it is possible that they influence on the cure for the obesity. Furthermore, they indicate that with soaking prescription, Free Radical is not produced as much as we expected.
