Development of DS/FDM-a Robust CAD-based Optimal Design System and Its Application to Engineering Structures (CAD 기반 최적설계 시스템인 DS/FDM의 개발과 공학 구조물에 대한 적용)

  • In this paper, we introduce a seamlessly integrated CAD-based design system (DS) for CAD modeling, engineering analysis, and optimal design which has been developed in CCED at KAIST, The key points of this integrating philosophy are to make full use of a parametric CAD program as the platform of integration and to adopt finite difference method for design sensitivity analysis in optimization process to get robustness and versatility. Design variables are directly selected by clicking CAD model parameters and all the analysis and design activities are menu-driven. This integrated program, named as DS/FDM, runs on Windows NT or Unix and FE analyses are performed at a remote Unix-workstation for multiple users. Application examples include shape optimal design of a belt clip that fits onto a portable electronic device and a bracket to show performance of DS/FDM with shell and tetra solid elements. This software is found efficient and effective fur shape design and size design of engineering structures.

Assessing Relative Importance of Operational Factors for School Breakfast Program using Conjoint Analysis (컨조인트 분석을 이용한 학교아침급식 운영 속성 및 수준의 중요도 분석)

  • The purposes of this study were as follows. First is to compare the importance of operational factors to determine types of school breakfast program, and second is to do the preference analysis of operation-related people depending on the attributes and levels of the operation of school breakfast program. The questionnaires developed for this study were distributed to 134 school dietitians, 114 school foodservice officials at the educational board, 68 staff members of foodservice contractors and 493 parents. Statistical data analyses were performed using SPSS/WIN 12.0 for descriptive statistics and conjoint analysis. The conjoint design was applied to evaluate the hypothetical foodservice types. According to the analysis on the attributes and levels of the school breakfast operation, the relative importance of each attribute was as followsprice (36.30%), menu (29.60%), foodservice staff (22.54%), serving type (11.55%) to school dietitians, price (34.99%), menu (28.15%), foodservice staff (23.52%), serving type (13.35%) to school foodservice officials at the educational board, menu (30.55%), price (30.24%), foodservice staff (28.75%), serving type (10.47%) to staff members of foodservice contractors and price (36.34%), menu (29.73%), foodservice staff (21.01%), serving type (12.92%) to parents. The results of the conjoint analysis indicated that the school dietitians and school foodservice officials at the educational board preferred the school breakfast operation program with 3 traditional menus and 2 convenience menus per 5 day, $1{\sim}3$ foodservice staff, with a price range of $1501{\sim}2000won$, and tray serving. Staff members of foodservice contractors preferred the school breakfast operation program with 3 traditional menus and 2 convenience menus per 5 day, $1{\sim}3$ foodservice staff, with a price range of $2501{\sim}3000won$, and tray serving. Parents preferred the school breakfast operation with 5 traditional menus per 5 day, $6{\sim}7$ foodservice staff, with a price range of $2501{\sim}3000won$, and tray serving. About a half of school dietitians considered that elementary schools were appropriate for the suggested school breakfast operation program. But, 68.2% of school foodservice officials at the educational board, 69.1% of staff members of foodservice contractors, and 38.1% of parents considered high schools to be the suitable model. Therefore, it indicated the need to recognize the different opinions among breakfast operation-related people and take these factors into consideration in developing the school breakfast program.

  • A program is developed to analyze and design the frequency and rigidity of the corrugated plates with various corrugation shapes (the considered corrugation shapes are triangular and trapezoidal) and 36 kinds of boundary conditions using smeared theory. The system is consisted of input, solution and output routines, and its routine is made up pull-down menu type and run in Window basis using Visual Basic Language. The input routine helps the design engineers to make the input data user-friendly. The solution routine uses the homemade solver. In the output routine, automatic designs can be done using AutoCAD and Intent Tool package by interfacing the input data.

  • Ornaments is a province of the fashion. It usually express noble metals and jewel's adorn-ment as the symbol of status and riches for a long time. The ornament design of Jewels drawing project and a product by computer are increased development and as exertion as a realization of automation. Through the use of CAD software(Auto CAD R 13 & Jewel CAD) \circled1 A design development of the jewels in industrial society \circled2 A metals art & design on the dress and it's ornaments - Study about application of principle(liberal curve, arrangement of repeated form, gradual unity, rhythmical harmony) Although Auto CAD don't various expression of Jewels than a Jewel CAD, formative.scientific.funtional development of geometrical form is free. That is (to say), geometrical form is given much weigh in the general CAD, but Jewel CAD made concentrate software on the jewels design for the expression of liberal form. The CAD/CAM software for jewellery program is composed of main menu, icons, hotkeys. Changing form is derived from a definite point, curve elements of a drawing. \circled1 3-Dimensional \circled2 Easy and flexible \circled3 Bulit-in and self created library \circled4 From simple wire frame to full color images. As a CAD can practice all the creation activity effectively, from Design & Drafting Software to Rendering generally can present precise results. A point of view of the connection the scientist and art, this practicableness of CAD have a lot of possiblity of development. That will do much for the related fields of industry. Consequently, subjective intension of a creator & humanity with value plays role in practical application of the design.

  • An integrated environment for optimum design has been developed using Motif. The integrated environment is composed of the preprocessor, the postprocessor and the optimization part. The preprocessor is part of making a finite element model for optimum structural design and the postprocessor displays results of optimum design and the optimization part is the part which execute optimization. It is designed to reduce user's difficulties in structural optimum design. It used Graphic User Interface for the concurrent representation of various inputs and outputs through the dialog box, mouse and keyboard. Structural optimum design can be done easily through dialog box, menu, concurrent representation of modeling process and results of structural optimum design can be understood easily through stress contour, deformed model and graph of cost function.

Development of an Educational Web Site and e-Learning System for Elementary School Students to Reduce Sugar, Natrium and Fat Intakes (초등학생의 당, 나트륨, 지방 섭취 저감화를 위한 교육용 웹사이트 및 e-learning system 개발)

  • This study was carried out to reduce children's sugar, natrium and fat intakes and establish their healthy lifestyle. To achieve these goals, we developed an educational web site and an e-learning system. The targets of this web site are children, parents and educators. This site has various information about sugar, natrium and fat, and has special menus for each target: such as the 'Let's study' for children, 'Guides for child's eating' for parents, and 'Educational softwares, Lesson plans/materials, and Textbooks/Teaching guides' for educators. We developed three nutrient characters and applied them to the web site. We provided information in the form of texts, images, flash and sounds. This site has special boards in 'Nutrition cafe' menu to interchange information or their successful stories between the connecters. We developed an e-learning system with two courses. One is for junior elementary students and the other is for senior students. Children can study each nutrient step by step in a course according to their academic ability and concern. Also, they can evaluate their academic achievement in this system, which was uploaded into 'Let's study' in children menu in the web site. Conclusively this web site and e-learning system could contribute to reducing children's sugar, natrium and fat intakes by helping children study them systematically and effectively by on-line system. We expect this e-learning system would be a new nutrition education system to make nutrition education more active.

  • This study aims for improvement and rebuilding of the 'Green Building Certification Criteria Information System;GBCCIS'. To achieve this, improved information system has developed self-assessment program available on the web and to provide data about the target of Green Building Certification based on the 2010 revised criteria. The target building of Green Building Certification is Apartment, Office, Mixed-Use Building, School, property for sale, accommodation, and other facilities. Also, the information system about the Green building related technologies and techniques to take advantage of offer a variety of information was built. Green Building Certification Criteria web-site Established in this study has information and each menu and contents are linked to organic and high-utilization. Each menu is organized according to the used frequency and the group. Also this web-site is composed of information guide field, core service field, and other field. These improvement of Green Building Certification Criteria Information System can be a positive incentive measures for the activation of Green Building Certification Criteria easily by taking advantage of relevant information by users. And these will be possible to planning development of Green building technologies by introducing the latest Green building construction techniques applicable building. Also, to assess in advance by using self-assessment program in the design phase of building will lead to Green building design and provide the convenience of the application process and through database construction and share information of building assessment resources certified Green Building Certification Criteria will lead to the containment and fair assessment between cation authorities.

  • Sports areas of the Republic of Korea has been strengthened by the sports powers in various phases of the competition. However, not all students can succeed in greatly athlete, was necessary for these measures. This paper presents the design and implementation of mobile applications to athletic coaching leaders to record dynamic data of student athletes. Stocks applicable in this paper is basketball. The development of mobile applications can choose to 'Assist Records' menu and 'Hot & Cold Zone' menu in the Main Page. Athletic director are stored in the photo file after the screen capture to allow the map to be just athletes. To a point that can be expected can be used as the training time and increasing efficiency of the training effect through the mobile application, it will be able to widen the non-coat to improve the performances.

  • This space is for the of your study in English. If simple menu item changes or the addition of check items are necessary on GUI menu of existing test equipments for military facilities that are programmed by using RAD tools such as Visual C++, they should go through complex steps, such as numerous conducting steps, coding, flash design modification, recompiling and distribution. It is cumbersome process and waste much time. Also, on implementing them, it was worried about leaking secrets because a number of military security considerations were included. To solve such as the above problem, we proposed commercial RIA technologies and a COTS fault diagnostic knowledge-based system that implemented by the XML data design technique in this research. The proposed approach solves the problem of existing methods, reduced inspection time, and improved performance, usability, and maintainability.

Needs Assessment for Web-based Self-management Program by the Nutrition Knowledge Levels of Diabetic Patients (당뇨환자의 영양지식수준에 따른 자가관리 현황 및 웹베이스 영양관리 프로그램 개발에 관한 요구도 조사)

  • This study was conducted to assess needs of self-management nutrition program for diabetic patients. The survey was conducted among 100 diabetic patients, and the mean age of the subjects was 54.2 years old. Thirty three percent of the subjects were diagnosed diabetes less than 2 years ago. The average nutrition knowledge score about diabetes was 10.2 point, and percentages of correct answers were very high in 'foods rich in fiber' (97.0%), 'relevance of exercise and insulin' (97.0%), 'quantity of insulin injection' (91.0%), and 'diabetes menu' (91.0%). The sources of nutrition information were hospitals/healthcare centers (56.1%), TV/radio (19.2%), and internet (13.1%). Sixty nine percent of the subjects have experienced nutrition education on subjects as 'menu planning skills'(22.4%), 'selecting foods' (22.4%), 'relevance of blood glucose and eating foods' (21.5%) by personal counseling (54.4%). The total score of eating behavior was higher after diagnosed diabetes (35.3) than before (30.0) (p < 0.001). The preferred topics in developing diabetes nutrition information websites were 'diabetes mellitus', 'relevance of blood glucose and foods', and 'selecting foods for diabetes'. The subjects wanted the websites developed by 'using mainly illustrations, pictures, tables' (22.8%) and 'using simple design' (19.6%). The preferred contents in developing diabetes self-management nutrition program were 'dietary life diagnosis', 'chronic disease risk diagnosis', 'calorie control by selecting foods and cooking skills', and 'dietary assessment'. In designing the program, the subjects' most wanted designs were 'be handy and simple in using' (29.3%), 'using simple design' (17.9%), and 'using mainly illustrations, pictures, tables' (15.7%).
