지역사회 만성정신질환자의 자살사고에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Factors Influencing Suicidal Ideation in Community-dwelling Patients with Chronic Mental Health Problems)

  • Purpose: The study was performed to identify factors influencing suicidal ideation in patients with chronic mental health problems and who live in the community. Methods: Data were collected using questionnaires and participants were 140 people with mental illness living in Y-si, Gyeonggi-do. The study was carried out from May 15 to September 30, 2014. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson Correlation Coefficients, and Logistic Regression with the SPSS/WIN 18.0 statistical program. Results: The number of persons who attempted suicide was 47(33.6%) and the number who had suicide ideation was 22(15.7%). The mean score for depression was $6.4{\pm}6.45$. The mean score for life satisfaction was $16.5{\pm}8.21$. Depression had a significant negative correlation with life satisfaction. Odds ratio of suicide ideation was 1.19. The significant factor influencing suicidal ideation was depression. Conclusion: The results of this study can be used in the development and practice of programs to decrease suicide in people with mental illness.

  • Mental status examination is an important stage in the assessment process because it serves as the foundation for establishing nursing diagnosis and intervention. Until now many students still feel difficult to understand the terms in the assessment of mental status. Interactive Mobile Learning in one of the media that is currently being developed. The use of this media will provide more in-depth learning opportunities, and students can practice their skills in carrying out practicals because of the mobility principle possessed by smartphones. The purpose of this study was to develop a smartphone-based app and evaluate the app's effectiveness by measuring nursing students' knowledge of mental status examination. Design: A randomized trial with a pre-and post-test design was conducted at a university in Indonesia. A total of seventy junior nursing students participated in this study. The intervention group received a smartphone-based app, and the control group received one-time lecture-based learning. We offered the experimental group the app and information about how to use it, and we encouraged them to use it. The control group received classroom instruction. Results: The intervention group scored significantly higher than the control group on knowledge score (t = 19.40, p = 0.000) and satisfaction with the learning method (t = 0.640, p = 0.021) Conclusion: These findings suggest that smartphonebased education could be an effective method in nursing education for teaching mental status examinations.

임상실습 스트레스와 실습 만족도의 관계에 미치는 적극적 스트레스 대처의 매개효과 (Mediation Effect of a Positive Stress Coping Strategy in the Relationship between Clinical Practice Stress and Clinical Practice Satisfaction)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to identify the mediation effect of a positive stress coping strategy between clinical practice stress and clinical practice satisfaction in nursing students. Methods : In this study, data was collected from 248 nursing students at K University in South Korea from October of 2015 to November of 2015. The collected data was analyzed using the SPSS 22.0 Statistics Program. Results : Clinical practice stress and a positive stress coping strategy were significant predictors of clinical practice satisfaction (${\beta}$=.442, p<.001). The explanatory power of the measure of clinical practice satisfaction was increased to 29.3% (p<.001) with solely clinical practice stress, and it reached 44.2% (p<.001) when a positive stress coping strategy was reflected. The results of this study confirmed that a positive stress coping strategy has a mediation effect on clinical practice stress and clinical practice satisfaction levels. Conclusions : It is necessary to develop a program to take advantage of positive stress coping skills so that nursing college students can smoothly overcome stress during their clinical training and thus improve their clinical practice experience.

  • Psychiatry has progressed with neurobiological basis, providing individually tailored treatment, preventing mental illness, and managing public mental health. Foundational knowledge that may contribute to the development of psychiatry and neuroscience has been attained through continual national and international investment in research. However, this knowledge obtained from neurobiological research is not being applied to clinical practice proactively. This may be due to a lack of support for translational research connecting neuroscience with clinical practice, and a lack of development and availability of educational programs for clinical psychiatrists. To solve these problems, it is essential to support translational research conducted by clinicians and to establish an appropriate reward system. Considering the direction of progress in psychiatry and the demand from clinicians, appropriate investment in research and education programs that provide neurobiological knowledge applicable to clinical practice is required. Researchers and educators must also communicate and collaborate to deliver neurobiological findings effectively.

건강한 성인의 양측상지기능의 상상훈련과 신체적 수행의 대뇌 연결성 비교: 사례 연구 (Comparison of Brain Connectivity in Mental Practice and Physical Performance of Bilateral Upper Extremity Function in a Healthy Adult: A Case Study)

  • 목적: 본 연구의 목적은 건강한 성인을 대상으로 양측상지기능 훈련을 통해서 활성화 되는 대뇌 연결성에서 상상 훈련과 신체적 수행 간에 차이가 있는지를 알아보고자 한다. 연구방법: 연구 대상자는 건강한 성인 1명으로 상상훈련과 신체적 수행 시 EEG 측정이 이루어졌다. 양측상지기능 훈련은 대칭 과제와 비대칭 과제로 구성되었다. 대칭 과제는 양손으로 박스를 잡고 동시에 위의 선반으로 올렸다가 다시 내려놓는 과제이고, 비대칭 과제는 한 손으로 병을 잡고 다른 한 손으로 뚜껑을 여는 과제였다. EEG 전극은 Fp1, Fp2, F3, F4, T3, T4, P3 및 P4에 부착되었다. 데이터 분석은 EEG 전극 쌍 간의 상관 분석을 위해 Cross-Line Mapping을 사용하였다. 결론: 본 연구 결과 대칭 및 비대칭의 양측 상지 과제에서 대뇌 연결성 패턴은 운동과 감각 영역에서 유사한 패턴을 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 본 연구를 통해 양측상지기능 훈련 시 상상훈련보다 신체적 수행에서 대뇌 연결성이 더 높은 상호상관을 갖는다는 것을 확인하였다.

정신 질병의 탄생: 고대 그리스 의학적 시선의 철학적 기원 플라톤의 정신 질병 개념을 중심으로 (The Concept of Mental Disease in Plato)

  • 본 논문의 목적은 영혼의 질병과 치유와 관련된 고대 논변들을 통해 플라톤이 말하는 정신의 질병과 건강은 무엇인지 알아보는 것이다. 고대 그리스에서 의학은 몸의 건강을 돌보는 것이었다면, 철학은 영혼의 건강을 돌보며 삶을 변화시키는 것이었다. 따라서 정신적 질병의 개념을 규정하는 것은 의학의 영역이기보다 철학의 영역이며, 철학의 실천적 기능은 우리의 영혼을 돌보는 삶이다. 그리고 영혼을 돌보기 위해서는 영혼의 질병은 무엇이며 어디서부터 오는지에 관한 진단이 우선시 된다. 플라톤은 정신적 질병을 (1) 국부적인 뇌의 문제가 아니라 인격의 총체적 문제이며, (2) 이는 불균형과 부조화에 기이하는 것으로, (3) 무지 또한 정신적 질병이라 할 수 있다고 말한다. (4) 더 나아가 그는 부정의와 악덕 역시 정신적 질병이라고 진단하며, 정신적 질병의 문제를 개인을 넘어서 국가의 문제로 확대시킨다. 결과적으로 플라톤은 철학의 목적을 영혼의 건강을 유지하기 위해 덕을 가지고 공동체 속에서 정치적 정의를 이루어 나가는 것이라고 주장한다.

정신질환자 어머니의 애환 경험 (Joys and sorrows of Mothers of Children with Mental Illness)

  • Purpose: As a cultural descriptive research, this study investigates the joys and sorrows that mothers who have been taking care of a child with mental illness in the Korean culture. Methods: The data were collected from June 2011 to July 2012 targeting a total of 11 mothers who were looking after chldren with mental illness in their own places. Recorded and transcribed data though in-depth interviews were analyzed by Spradley's classification and analysis method. Results: The joys and sorrows of the mothers focused on the cultural topic, "social sense of isolation', and the joys and sorrows were confirmed to be 'fury to reality', 'despair of illness', 'blame on family', 'remorse for the life' and 'little pleasure earned by emptying mind'. Conclusion: It is suggestive that the results of this study can be used to understand the joys and sorrows of the mothers with the mental patients; may be used to improve sociocultural understanding of the mothers; and may be applied to nursing practice.

일부 대학생들에 있어서 생활습관과 신체 및 정신건강도와의 관련성 (The Relationship between Life-style and Physical, Mental Health Status in College Students)

  • This study reports the relationship between life-style and physical, mental health status in college students. The questionnaire survey was carried out from September to October, 1991. The questionnaire included life-style, physical health condition centered on unhealthy habits and complaints about physical symptoms, and mental condition which was assessed by Zung's self-rating depression scale(SDS). Days absent from school during the last year in males(3.6) were significantly more than those in females (1.0). Days catching the common cold were more in females than in males. The amount of complaints and the SDS score were significantly higher in females than in males. In the relationship between physical and mental health status and individual health habits, abscence-days from school significantly correlated with regular life, snacking, physical exercise, smoking, drinking. The amount of complaints and the SDS score were significantly associated with regular life, regular meal-time, eating breakfast, nutritional balance and physical exercise. In the relationship between health practice index to health status, the group having good habits showed significantly less days catching the common cold, less complaints, less SDS score and less amount of stress. It was also shown that life-style correlated with physical and mental health status.

정신장애인가족의 임파워먼트와 자기옹호 증진을 위한 프로그램의 효과 (The Effectiveness of Program to Promote Empowerment and Self-Advocacy of the Mentally Disabled Persons' Families)

  • Purpose: This study was to verify the effectiveness of group program for promoting empowerment and self-advocacy of the the mentally disabled persons' families. Methods: This program was set up for the mentally disabled persons' families to share their experiences, do consciousness raising, advocate themselves through group process. A pre-post control group design was used for this study. Results: The results of this study verified that group program was effective to promote empowerment and self advocacy of the mentally disabled persons' families. Also group program helped to express and ventilate family burden actively. Conclusion: This study suggests as follows. In the mental health social work practice we need to develop group programs for family to talk about themselves, to ventilate their emotions, to understand their circumstances and to initiative the change of mental health circumstances as well as education and coping skills about mental illness. For this, there is a need for mental health social worker to have a macroscopic viewpoint and work with family. Also there is a need for mental health social worker to promote family self-help groups and to support their construction and growth.

성(Sexuality)과 정신건강에 관한 통합적 문헌고찰 (An Integrative Review of Sexuality and Mental Health)

  • Purpose: Sexuality is a fundamental element of human life and is closely related to mental health. This study was conducted to understand domestic research trends on gender, mental health, and psychological well-being through an integrated review. Methods: Through four domestic databases, 15 papers were finally selected using the search terms 'sex', 'mental health', and 'psychological well-being'. Results: Fifteen papers have been published since 2000 and 10 documents have been published since 2010. A majority of the studies were basic research and reviews, and these included four qualitative studies. Depending on the subject, we classified five articles into three themes by the developmental stages (youth, married women, and the elderly), eight sexual minority studies, and two other studies (right to sexual self-determination, and dating for people with disabilities). Conclusion: A more open social concern and approach to sex, the most basic human need, is warranted. The field of nursing practice requires more attention.
