소성가공이 멤브레인 피로 수명에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Plastic Working on the Membrane Fatigue Life)

  • 소성가공으로 제작되는 575 304재료 멤브레인의 피로 특성에 대하여 조사하였다. 소성 가공량에 의한 영향을 파악하고자 5종류의 시험편에 대하여 피로 시험을 실행하였다. 피로 시험은 실온과 저온에서 수행하였으며, 모든 시험 결과는 지하식 저조 지침에서 제시하는 피로 시험 데이터와 비교 분석하였다. 이러한 결과를 기본으로 프레스 가공 제작 KOGAS 멤브레인 피로 수명 평가에 RPIS 설계 피로 곡선을 적용할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

액화천연가스 저장탱크용 멤브레인의 유한요소해석 (Finite Element Analysis of Membrane for LNG Storage Tank)

  • This paper analyzes the behaviors of corrugated membrane under the cryogenic liquid pressure and thermal loading using the FEM analysis program MARC. The FEM calculations were carried out on the basis of measured data of Technigaz membrane. It is very important to know the concentration levels and distributions of stress in the corrugated membrane. A quarter of the membrane sheet in place of the whole membrane was simulated because of its geometric symmetricity. The calculated results of the concentrated stress showed that the maximum stress occurs at the knot parts and at the root corner radius of the corrugations. The FEM calculated results indicated that the ring knot membrane which was developed in this study showed uniformly distributed stress and the lowest stress levels in the cross knot area in comparison with other two membranes. These results are very important to optimize the shape and improve the safety of membrane structure.

응집제의 첨가에 따른 Membrane bioreactor 의 고도처리 효율 연구 (Effect of Coagulant addition on Nutrient Removal Efficiency in a Submerged Membrane Bioreactor)

  • This study was performed to investigate the characteristics of nutrient removal of municipal wastewater in the submerged membrane bioreactor by addition of alum directly into aerobic tank. Membrane bioreactor consists of three reactors such as two intermittent anaerobic tanks and the aerobic tank with hollow fiber membrane. The removal efficiencies of $COD_{cr}$, BOD, SS, TN and TP on the membrane bioreactor were 94.0%, 99.1%, 99.9%, 66.9%, and 58.9%, respectively. In addition, The removal efficiencies of $COD_{cr}$, BOD, SS, TN and TP on the membrane bioreactor with alum addition were 93.4%, 99.0%, 99.9%, 63.2%, and 96.8%, respectively. There was little difference between them on the nutrient removal efficiencies except phophorus removal. The estimated sludge production, specific denitrification rate, specific nitrification rate and phosphorus removal content on the membrane bioreactor were 1.76 kgTSS/d, $0.055mgNO_3-N/mgVSS{\cdot}d$, $0.031mgNH_4-N/mgVSS{\cdot}d$, and 0.095 kgP/d, respectively. And The estimated sludge production, specific denitrification rate, specific nitrification rate and phosphorus removal content on the membrane bioreactor with alum addition were 2.90 kgTSS/d, $0.049mgNO_3-N/mgVSS{\cdot}d$, $0.030mgNH_4-N/mgVSS{\cdot}d$, and 0.160 kgP/d, respectively. The alum content added was 1.7 molAl/molP on an average. The increasing ratio of tran-membrane pressure on the membrane bioreactor was $0.0056kgf/cm^2{\cdot}compared$ to $0.0033kgf/cm^2{\cdot}d$ on the membrane bioreactor with alum addition. There was a slightly reduction effect on membrane fouling by alum addition.

Sloshing suppression by floating baffle

  • Sloshing is a phenomenon which may lead to dynamic stability and damages on the local structure of the tank. Hence, several anti-sloshing devices are introduced in order to reduce the impact pressure and free surface elevation of liquid. A fixed baffle is the most prevailing anti-sloshing mechanism compared to the other methods. However, the additional of the baffle as the internal structure of the LNG tank can lead to frequent damages in long-term usage as this structure absorbs the sloshing loads and thus increases the maintenance cost and downtime. In this paper, a novel type of floating baffle is proposed to suppress the sloshing effect in LNG tank without the need for reconstructing the tank. The sloshing phenomenon in a membrane type LNG tank model was excited under sway motion with 30% and 50% filling condition in the model test. A regular motion by a linear actuator was applied to the tank model at different amplitudes and constant period at 1.1 seconds. Three pressure sensors were installed on the tank wall to measure the impact pressure, and a high-speed camera was utilized to record the sloshing motion. The floater baffle was modeled on the basis of uniform-discretization of domain and tested based on parametric variations. Data of pressure sensors were collected for cases without- and with-floating baffle. The results indicated successful reduction of surface run-up and impulsive pressure by using a floating baffle. The findings are expected to bring significant impacts towards safer sea transportation of LNG.

  • Korea Gas Corp. has developed the design technology of the LNG storage tank. The membrane to be applied inside of LNG storage tank is provided with corrugations to absorb thermal contraction and expansion caused by LNG temperature. We constructed strain measurement system by using strain gage. In this paper, some problems which should be considered when measuring strain at $-162^{\circ}C$, are discussed by presenting test results on the characteristics of strain gages, Temperature sensor, adhesive and lead wire. And presenting the procedure of the constructing strain measurement system.

Treatment of Saline Wastewater by the Activated Sludge with Nonwoven Fabric Separation

  • Direct membrane separation using nonwoven fabric was applied to saline wastewater treatment by an activated sludge process. A nonwoven fabric module was immersed in an aeration tank. The part of treated was filtered through the module by suction and the rest of that was separated by a settling tank. Various F/M ratios and salt concentrations were applied to investigate stable flux as well as pollutant removal. The pollutant removal efficiencies of nonwoven fabric separation was not affected by F/M ratios and salt concentrations and was higher than that of settling tank separation. The decline in flux was seemed to be caused by the biofilm on nonwoven fabric surface.

  • LNG demand has been rapidly increasing in Korea for a variety of reaso including stable supply, non- polluting, and high combustion efficiency characteris As a result the construction and expansion of LNG storage facilities have b continuing at a vigorous pace. One of the most important structural core elemen the LNG storage tank is the membrane, consisting of stainless steel. The memb to be applied inside of LNG storage tank is provided with corrugations to abs thermal contraction and expansion caused by LNG temperature. From the viewp of strength design, however. it is essential to confirm that the membrane undergo a stable deformation and has a sufficient fatigue strength Experim studies are presented to investigate the deformation and strength of the memb which is designed by Kogas. All experiments are conducted on the basis of RP and we found the results is fully satisfied with the RPIS.

  • As LNG tank is operated around $-162^{\circ}C$, an experimental approach on the cryogenic temperature tensile and fatigue strengths of SUS304L lap joint weld is very important at the design stage of membrane type LNG tank. In this study, in order to estimate the tensile and fatigue strengths of SUS304L lap joint weld at cryogenic temperature condition, tensile and fatigue tests were conducted. Also, S-N curves are presented with statistical testing method recommended by JSME. As a result of the experimental approach, the d£sign guide of fatigue strength is proposed and that is expected to be useful for membrane type LNG tank design.

Membrane Filter를 이용한 수산물 가공폐수처리에 대한 연구 (Research of Sea Food Wastewater Treatment using Membrane Filter)

  • Sea food wastewater including high concentration of organics and nutrients is hard to treat stably by established traditional activated sludge process. This research is aimed to obey more and more of strengthened the law and to secure stable effluents by using advanced treatment process applied membrane filter in aeration tank for treatment of wastewater from marine products. It must maintain pH of influent over 6.0 to keep up stably biological sludge of advanced treatment process. At 38hr of HRT, removal rates of TBOD and TCOD were 99.9% and 99.4% respectively and TSS also removed with high efficiency. Most organics in the effluent was constituted with soluble type materials, it caused that membrane filter installed aeration tank should remove minute suspended particles. The reactor was operated well to get stable treatment results for operation period, in spite of high loading of organics like that $0.67{\sim}1.67\;kgTBOD/m^3/day$ of organics loading and $0.10{\sim}0.21\;kgBOD_5/kgMLSS/day$ of F/M ratio. At $36{\sim}48hr$ of HRT, removal rates of T-N and T-P were $89.7{\sim}90.7%\;and\;91.5{\sim}96.0%$ respectively. It means this treatment process also work to remove nutrients of high concentration. Upon investigation of advanced treatment's operation factors, optimum SRT was about 30days and average SNR that showed tendency to increase according to increase water temperature was calculated 0.014 gN/g MLVSS/d. SDNR was risen in conformity to increase F/M ratio of Non-aeration tank and investigated as $0.038{\sim}0.051\;gN/gMLVSS/d$.

멤브레인 방식 LNG탱크 용접부의 피로강도에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Fatigue Strength of the Welds of Membrane Type LNG Tank)

  • In this study an evaluation method of fatigue strength of membrane type LNG tank is presented with FEM analysis and experimental approach of seam and raised edge welds. The study contains the following : l)FEM analysis of test specimens 2)Fatigue tests of seam and raised edge welds 3)Estimation of cumulative damage factor of the welds on the basis of safe life design concept complying with the rules of classification society 4)Review of the effect of mean stress on the fatigue strength 5)Modelling of fatigue life of the welds which is changeable by weld heights With the results obtained in this study, a model ${\Delta}{\delta}/h^2=0.13553\;{N_{f}}^{-0.3151}$ for seam and raised edge welds having a given weld height is proposed to be useful for designers and inspectors.
