Parallel and cross of the electrical power and telecommunication network is become accelerated, because telecommunication equipments are constructed according to road for efficient maintenance of domestic telecommunication network. The electrical power network can generate an electrostatic induction, and is itself transmission medium from electrical transient phenomenon such as lighting. So, transient phenomenon of lightning surge is induced to telecommunication network, and then it is damaged by connecting between electrical ground of electrical power network and telecommunication network. In this study, we found that cut-off of return path current by separate distance between electrical ground of electrical power network and telecommunication network, and cut-off of electrostatic induction voltage by grounding unused leads of both terminals of the electrical and telecommunication network have good effect as the protection methods of telecommunications network from electrical transient phenomena.

Faster, safer and cheaper mailing of the postal matter is essential for surviving in the competitive market of home-delivery service. In the past, the domestic delivery business has been nu by only a few number of companies. But more and more number of companies including medium size ones are participating in the business, and the competition is getting severe. This paper proposes a method to select the optimal location of mail distribution centers that minimally connect the local mail centers of some major cities in Korea using the Steiner Tree theory, which is about connecting a finite number of points with a minimal length of paths and has been used in the distribution system optimization and optimal routing of the transmission lines of the electric power system. By using Steiner Tree theory in finding the best location of the postal delivery hub, we may expect the reduction of transportation cost and the increase of profit, resulting in acquiring the superior position in the competitive delivery business. It is expected that we may use the Steiner Tree theory in finding the best location of the electric power substation for the nott higher EHV(extreme high voltage) transmission network.
Electroosmosis (EO) is the movement of water in a porous medium under the influence of a direct current (dc). In past decades, electro-osmosis has been successfully employed in many soil improvement and other geotechnical engineering projects. Metal electrodes, such as steel, copper and aluminum have been used traditionally to conduct current. The shortcoming of these electrodes is that they corrode easily during an EO treatment, which results in reduced effectiveness and environmental concerns. More recently, conductive polymers are developed to replace metal electrodes in EO treatment. Electrical vertical drainages (EVDs) are one of these products under trial. The goal of this study is to assess the performance of EVDs for soil improvement and to further understand the scientific principle of the EO process, including the voltage drop at the soil-EVD interface, electrical current density, polarity reversal, and changes in soil physico-chemical properties generated by electroosmosis. It is found from the study that after 19 days of EO treatment with a constant applied dc electric field intensity of 133 V/m, the soil's moisture content decreased by 28%, the shear strength and pre-consolidation pressure increased more than 400%. It is also found that the current density required triggering the water flow in the soil tested, the Korean Yulchon marine clay, is 0.7 $A/m^2$. The project demonstrates that EVDs can serve as both electrodes and drains for soil improvement in short term. However, the EVDs, as tested, are not suitable for polarity reversal in EO treatment and their service life is limited to only 15 days.

Sperm function and male fertility are closely related to pH dependent $K^+$ current (KSper) in human sperm, which is most likely composed of Slo3 and its auxiliary subunit leucine-rich repeat-containing protein 52 (LRRC52). Onion peel extract (OPE) and its major active ingredient quercetin are widely used as fertility enhancers; however, the effect of OPE and quercetin on Slo3 has not been elucidated. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of quercetin on human Slo3 channels. Human Slo3 and LRRC52 were co-transfected into HEK293 cells and pharmacological properties were studied with the whole cell patch clamp technique. We successfully expressed and measured pH sensitive and calcium insensitive Slo3 currents in HEK293 cells. We found that OPE and its key ingredient quercetin inhibit Slo3 currents. Inhibition by quercetin is dose dependent and this degree of inhibition decreases with elevating internal alkalization and internal free calcium concentrations. Functional moieties in the quercetin polyphenolic ring govern the degree of inhibition of Slo3 by quercetin, and the composition of such functional moieties are sensitive to the pH of the medium. These results suggest that quercetin inhibits Slo3 in a pH and calcium dependent manner. Therefore, we surmise that quercetin induced depolarization in spermatozoa may enhance the voltage gated proton channel (Hv1), and activate non-selective cation channels of sperm (CatSper) dependent calcium influx to trigger sperm capacitation and acrosome reaction.
In this paper, the design of a triple dipole quasi-yagi antenna operating in the 2.45 GHz and 5 GHz wireless LAN frequency bands and the 3.5 GHz WiMAX frequency band was studied. The proposed quasi-Yagi antenna consists of three dipoles connected in series with a V-shaped ground plane. The longest half-bow-tie-shaped dipole resonates in the 2.45 GHz band, whereas the medium-length dipole resonates at 3.5 GHz. The shortest dipole resonates in the 5 GHz band. By adjusting the length and width of the dipoles and the spacings between the dipoles, a triple-band directional antenna operating in the 2.45 GHz, 3.5 GHz, and 5 GHz bands are designed, and fabricated on an FR4 substrate with a size of 45 mm × 55 mm. It was confirmed that the fabricated antenna operates in the designed triple bands of 2.32-2.57 GHz, 3.26-3.69 GHz, and 4.50-6.56 GHz for a voltage standing wave ratio less than 2. Gain is maintained above 3 dBi in the three bands.

Novel 2-hexylthieno[3,2-b]thiophene-containing conjugated molecules have been synthesized via a reduction reaction using tin chloride in an acidic medium. They exhibited good solubility in common organic solvents and good self-film and crystal-forming properties. The single-crystalline objects were fabricated by a solvent slow diffusion process and then were employed for fabricating field-effect transistors (FETs) along with thinfilm transistors (TFTs). TFTs made of 5 and 6 exhibited carrier mobility as high as 0.10-0.15 $cm^2V^{-1}s^{-1}$. The single-crystal-based FET made of 6 showed 0.70 $cm^2V^{-1}s^{-1}$ which was relatively higher than that of the 5-based FET (${\mu}=0.23cm^2V^{-1}s^{-1}$). In addition, we fabricated organic photovoltaic (OPV) cells with new 2-hexylthieno [3,2-b]thiophene-containing conjugated molecules and methanofullerene [6,6]-phenyl C61-butyric acid methyl ester ($PC_{61}BM$) without thermal annealing. The ternary system for a bulk heterojunction (BHJ) OPV cell was elaborated using $PC_{61}BM$ and two p-type conjugated molecules such as 5 and 7 for modulating the molecular energy levels. As a result, the OPV cell containing 5, 7, and $PC_{61}BM$ had improved results with an open-circuit voltage of 0.90 V, a short-circuit current density of 2.83 $mA/cm^2$, and a fill factor of 0.31, offering an overall power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 0.78%, which was larger than those of the devices made of only molecule 5 (${\eta}$~0.67%) or 7 (${\eta}$~0.46%) with $PC_{61}BM$ under identical weight compositions.

This paper proposes a fractional-N phase-locked loop (PLL) frequency synthesizer using the 3rd order ${\Delta}{\sum}$ modulator for 900MHz medium speed wireless link. The LC voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) is used for the good phase noise property. To reduce the lock-in time, a charge pump has been developed to control the pumping current according to the frequency steps and the reference frequency is increased up to 3MHz. A 36/37 fractional-N divider is used to increase the reference frequency of the phase frequency detector (PFD) and to reduce the minimum frequency step simultaneously. A 3rd order ${\Delta}{\sum}$ modulator has been developed to reduce the fractional spur VCO, Divider by 8 Prescaler, PFD and Charge pump have been developed with 0.25um CMOS, and the fractional-N divider and the third order ${\Delta}{\sum}$ modulator have been designed with the VHDL code, and they are implemented through the FPGA board of the Xilinx Spartan2E. The measured results show that the output power of the PLL is about -lldBm and the phase noise is -77.75dBc/Hz at 100kHz offset frequency. The minimum frequency step and the maximum lock-in time are 10kHz and around 800us for the maximum frequency change of 10MHz, respectively.
We have reported previously that intact embryogenic cells can be used instead of protoplasts for electroporation-mediated transformation of zoysiagrass and rice. In this study, conditions of the tissue electroporation were examined to optimize the procedures. Embryogenic cell suspensions were established in liquid MS medium containing 2 mg/L of 2,4-D with embryogenic calluses induced from mature embryos of Z. japonica. The suspension-cultured cell clumps were electroporated with 35S-gusA expression vector DNA, and degrees of DNA introduction into the cells were determined by histological expression rates of the gusA marker gene. DNA transfer into the cell clumps occurred in wide range of voltage (100-400 V) and capacitance (10-1980 $\mu\textrm{F}$), but more in the ranges of 200-300 V and 330-800 $\mu\textrm{F}$ DNA concentrations higher than 6 $\mu\textrm{g}$/mL were adequate for GUS expression of the electroporated cells. DNA transfers were confirmed in all three embryogenic cell lines but only in one out of eleven non-embryogenic lines. Positive GUS expressions occurred with DNAs added even 20-40 h after pulse treatments. As a promoter of gusA, Act1 and Ubi1 were effective 7 and 5 times than 35S respectively in number of GUS expression units on electroporated cell clumps. Embryogenic cell clumps survived and regenerated into plantlets after pulse treatments of wide range of conditions.

The use of ozone in water and wastewater treatment systems has been known to be a process that is limited by mass transfer. The most effective way to overcome this limitation is to increase the interfacial area available for mass transfer by decreasing the size of the ozone gas bubbles that are dispersed in solution. Electrostatic spraying(ES) of ozone into water was investigated in this work as a method of increasing the rate of mass transfer of ozone into a solution and thereby increasing the rate of phenol oxidation. Results were obtained for ES at input power levels ranging from 0 to 4 kV and compared with two different pore-size bubble diffusers($10{\sim}15{\mu}m$ and $40{\sim}60{\mu}m$). It was determined that the rate of mass transfer could be increased by as much as 40% when the applied voltage was increased from 0 to 4 kV as a result of the smaller bubbles generated by ES. In addition, ES was shown to be more effective than the medium-pore-size($10{\sim}15{\mu}m$) bubble diffuser and the best results were achieved at low gas flow rates.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of atropine on peripheral vasodilation and the mechanisms involved. The isometric tension of rat mesenteric artery rings was recorded in vitro on a myograph. The results showed that atropine, at concentrations greater than 1$\mu$M, relaxed the noradrenalin (NA)-precontracted rat mesenteric artery in a concentration-dependent manner. Atropine-induced vasodilatation was mediated, in part, by an endothelium-dependent mechanism, to which endothelium-derived hyperpolarizing factor may contribute. Atropine was able to shift the NA-induced concentration-response curve to the right, in a non-parallel manner, suggesting the mechanism of atropine was not mediated via the ${\alpha}_1$-adrenoreceptor. The $\beta$-adrenoreceptor and ATP sensitive potassium channel, a voltage dependent calcium channel, were not involved in the vasodilatation. However, atropine inhibited the contraction derived from NA and $CaCl_2$ in $Ca^{2+}$-free medium, in a concentration dependent manner, indicating the vasodilatation was related to the inhibition of extracellular $Ca^{2+}$ influx through the receptor-operated calcium channels and intracellular $Ca^{2+}$ release from the $Ca^{2+}$ store. Atropine had no effect on the caffeine-induced contraction in the artery segments, indicating the inhibition of intracellular $Ca^{2+}$ release as a result of atropine most likely occurs via the IP3 pathway rather than the ryanodine receptors. Our results suggest that atropine-induced vasodilatation is mainly from artery smooth muscle cells due to inhibition of the receptor-mediated $Ca^{2+}$-influx and $Ca^{2+}$-release, and partly from the endothelium mediated by EDHF.
