Reference Functions for Synthesis and Analysis of Multiview and Integral Images

  • We propose one- and two-dimensional reference functions for processing of integral/multiview imaging. The functions provide the synthesis/analysis of the integral image by distance, as an alternative to the composition/decomposition by view images (directions). The synthesized image was observed experimentally. In analysis confirmed by simulation in a qualitative sense, the distance was obtained by convolution of the integral image with the reference functions.

  • 차량번호인식 개선을 위해서는 무엇보다 양질의 차량이미지를 획득하는 것이 무엇보다 먼저 선행되어야 하는 필수적인 요소이다. 일반적인 도로영상들은 시간, 햇빛, 날씨 등 다양한 환경의 영향을 받아 번호판 밝기가 일률적이지 않고 다양한 형태로 나타나기 때문에 여러 가지 이미지 보정 기능을 거치게 되고 이로 인하여 인식속도 저하, 인식률 저하 등이 나타난다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 실시간 영상 촬영 시 번호판 주위의 밝기를 측정하여 카메라의 shutter, bright, gain등 이미지 밝기와 품질에 영향을 주는 각 요소를 실시간으로 제어하여 빠르고 선명한 고품질의 차량 이미지 촬영하기 위해 실시간 도로 영상을 통하여 제안된 방법을 테스트 하였다.

CNN-based Gesture Recognition using Motion History Image

  • In this paper, we present a CNN-based gesture recognition approach which reduces the memory burden of input data. Most of the neural network-based gesture recognition methods have used a sequence of frame images as input data, which cause a memory burden problem. We use a motion history image in order to define a meaningful gesture. The motion history image is a grayscale image into which the temporal motion information is collapsed by synthesizing silhouette images of a user during the period of one meaningful gesture. In this paper, we first summarize the previous traditional approaches and neural network-based approaches for gesture recognition. Then we explain the data preprocessing procedure for making the motion history image and the neural network architecture with three convolution layers for recognizing the meaningful gestures. In the experiments, we trained five types of gestures, namely those for charging power, shooting left, shooting right, kicking left, and kicking right. The accuracy of gesture recognition was measured by adjusting the number of filters in each layer in the proposed network. We use a grayscale image with 240 × 320 resolution which defines one meaningful gesture and achieved a gesture recognition accuracy of 98.24%.

라티노 미디어와 스페인어 텔레비전 방송 (Latino Media and Spanish Language Television Broadcasting)

  • The results of 2000 Population Census explains the context of a series of incidents happening in the Latino television broadcasting market recently. That is, the rapid growth of Latino population so fast as overtaking the Black population has needed media as a means of Latino's own social interests and communication. In this context, the television broadcasting market as a marketing means of capitals targeting for the Latinos has experienced more rapid changes. In other words, there has been some changes in the Latino television broadcasting market which divided by two major networks, Univision and Telemundo. It was 1970s when Latino media started to be considered as an important framework to understand the problems of the Latinos in American society. Experiencing the human rights movement of the 1960s, the Latino communities' sense of identity realized the importance of media as an expression of themselves from the interest on the factors which directly determine the quality of their life such as the immigration, education, health, and employment. The anglo media plays a role in introducing the Latinos and forming the images of the Latinos to the non-Latinos. It can be possible to criticize that the anglo media propagates the unilateral image of the Latinos by the mainstream white society, the stereotyped images of the Latinos. The spanish media targeting for the Latinos has grown continuously, combining the inside needs of forming the identity of the Latinos and communication and outside needs of commercialism. On the other hand, the needs for the programs based on the American Latinos has been increased, along with the increase of the Latino media based on the dual languages or English. This paper reviewed the history of the Latino media briefly, and then examined the relationship between the Latinos and the media through the television broadcasting which influence the Latino's everyday life enormously.

색상 및 형태 특성을 이용한 로고 영상의 기억용이성 측정 및 예측 (A New Method for Measurement and Prediction of Memorability from Logo Images using Characteristics of Color and Shape)

  • Because a logo is a medium that connects between consumers and corporations or brands, designing memorable logo images is vital. Although predicting logo's memorability for brand marketing is essential, there have been only few researches that deal with memorability of logo images. In this paper, we analyze the memorability characteristics in logo images by performing experiments based upon our proposed prediction method for logo image's memorability. Our proposed research consists of three phases: crowdsourcing for memorability computing, computational phase for logo image's memorability, and development of a prediction model. Using computed memorability of logo images by "Visual Memory Game," we analyze the different characteristics of logo's memorability. We first developed a novel computational method that reflects logo image's color and shape. Each computational method on color and shape are selected by comparing the correlations between result values and ground truth memorability. Selected computational value is then converged with generic image feature descriptors such as SIFT and HoG to make a prediction model of logo's memorability. Using our method, we obtain reasonable performances in predicting logo image's memorability.

Camera pose estimation framework for array-structured images

  • Despite the significant progress in camera pose estimation and structure-from-motion reconstruction from unstructured images, methods that exploit a priori information on camera arrangements have been overlooked. Conventional state-of-the-art methods do not exploit the geometric structure to recover accurate camera poses from a set of patch images in an array for mosaic-based imaging that creates a wide field-of-view image by sewing together a collection of regular images. We propose a camera pose estimation framework that exploits the array-structured image settings in each incremental reconstruction step. It consists of the two-way registration, the 3D point outlier elimination and the bundle adjustment with a constraint term for consistent rotation vectors to reduce reprojection errors during optimization. We demonstrate that by using individual images' connected structures at different camera pose estimation steps, we can estimate camera poses more accurately from all structured mosaic-based image sets, including omnidirectional scenes.

REVERSIBLE INFORMATION HIDING FOR BINARY IMAGES BASED ON SELECTING COMPRESSIVE PIXELS ON NOISY BLOCKS

  • This paper proposes a reversible information hiding method for binary images. A half of pixels in noisy blocks on cover images is candidate for embeddable pixels. Among the candidate pixels, we select compressive pixels by bit patterns of its neighborhood to compress the pixels effectively. Thus, embeddable pixels in the proposed method are compressive pixels in noisy blocks. We provide experimental results using several binary images binarized by the different methods.

  • This paper describes an automatic recognition method of contents in moving images. The recognition process is carried out by the following two steps. At first, camera works in moving images are analyzed and moving objects are extracted from the moving images. Next, the motion of the object is recognized by pre-procured knowledge. These techniques will be applied to a construction of an efficient image database.

  • 미디어는 일상생활의 활력소 역할 뿐만 아니라 사람들의 스트레스를 해소시키는 하나의 문화콘텐츠로 자리 잡았다. 그리고 암울했던 역사적 배경 속에 탄생한 예술작품들 중 퍼포먼스는 시대적 상황에서 벗어나고자 했던 예술가들의 몸부림 속에서 탄생하였다. 퍼포먼스는 시 공간의 제약을 탈피하기 위해 다수의 작품을 영상을 접목시켰다. 미디어 퍼포먼스는 IT 기술뿐만 아니라 예술적 감각과 퍼포먼스가 더해지는 융합예술의 한 분야로 자리매김 하였다. 본 논문에서는 영상매체의 다양한 효과를 분석하고, 미디어 퍼포먼스에서 어떠한 영상이 더 효과적인지에 대하여 고찰하였다.
