In this paper, poly (dimethyl siloxane) (PDMS) was modified using electron beam irradiation and its property was investigated. PDMS sheets prepared using a conventional thermal curing method were irradiated by electron beams at absorbed doses between 20 and 200 kGy and their properties were characterized using swelling degree and contact angle measurements, universal testing machine (UTM), thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA), and X -ray photoelectron spectrometer (XPS). The results of the swelling degree measurements, UTM, and TGA revealed that the swelling degree of the irradiated PDMS sheets was reduced down to 24% in comparison to the control sheet, and their compression strength and thermal decomposition temperature increased up to maximum 2.5 MFa and $10^{\circ}C$, respectively, due to the increase in crosslinking density by irradiation. In addition, on the basis of the results of contact angle measurements and XPS, the wettability of the PDMS sheets was enhanced up to 24% owing to the generation of hydrophilic functional groups on the PDMS surface by oxidation during electron beam irradiation.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the quality characteristics of Dotoridasik prepared by the addition of acorn powder (0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%). The Proximate components were 85.89% carbohydrate, 1.38% crude fat, 0.84% crude protein and 0.32% crude ash. The moisture content of Dotoridasik showed no significant difference between the added acorn powder and control groups. The following Hunter color values are not part of the sensory evaluation testing in the results of for Dotoridasik, decreased while the a and b values increased with increasing acorn powder addition. The bitter taste was evaluated as being improved with increasing acorn powder addition. Dotoridasik with 40% acorn powder showed the highest acceptance. In the mechanical evaluation, hardness recording which from control Will increase with acorn powder it shows a high shame(p<0.05), the adhesiveness result springiness it was not visible a consider difference especially also utterly unintelligible).
Recently the 2nd generation laboratory composite resins were introduced. Although the mechanical properties of these composite resins have been improved, there were some disadvantages such as discoloration, low abrasion resistance and debonding between metal and resin. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the tensile bond strength between non-pecious dental alloy(verabond) and four veneering reinforced composite resins ; Targis(Ivoclar Co., U.S.A.), Artglass(Kulzer CO., Germany), Sculpture(Jeneric Pentron Co., U.S.A.), and Estonia(Kurary Co., Japan). All test metal specimens were polished with #1,000 SiC paper, and sandblasted with $250{\mu}m$ aluminum oxide. After then. according to manufacturer's instructions metal adhesive primer and veneering resins were applied. All test specimens were divided into two groups. One group was dried in a desiccator at $25^{\circ}C$ for 3 days, the other group was subjected to thermal cycling($2,000{\times}$) in water($5/55^{\circ}C$). Tensile bond strength was measured using Instron Universal Testing machine and the fractured surface was examined under the naked eyes and scanning electron microscope. Within the limitations imposed in this study, the following conclusions can be drawn: 1. In no-thermal cycling groups, there were no significant differences between Estenia and VMK68 but there were significant differences between Targis, Artglass, Sculpture and VMK68(p<0.05). 2. In no-thermal cycling resin groups, the highest tensile bond strength was observed in Estenia and there were significant differences between Estenia and the other resins(p<0.05). 3. Before and after thermal cycling, there were significant differences in tensile bond strength of Targis and Artglass(p<0.05). The tensile bond strength of Artglass was decreased and that of Targis was increased. 4. In no-thermal cycling groups, Artglass showed mixed fracture modes(95%), but after thermal cycling, Artglass showed adhesive fracture modes(75%).
Statement of problem. The performance and maintenance of implant-supported prostheses are primarily dependent upon load transmission both at the bone-to-implant interface and within the implant-abutment-prosthesis complex. The design of the interface between components has been shown to have a profound influence on the stability of screw joints. Purpose. The Purpose of this study was to compare the strength and the fatigue resistance of 1-piece and 2-piece abutment connected to oral implant, utilizing an internal conical interface. Material and methods. Twenty $Implatium^{(R)}$ tapered implants were embedded to the top of the fixture in acrylic resin blocks. Ten $Combi^{(R)}$(1-piece) and $Dual^{(R)}$(2-piece) abutments of the same dimension were assembled to the implant, respectively. The assembled units were mounted in a testing machine. A load was applied perpendicular to the long axis of the assemblies and the loading points was at the distance of 7mm from the block surface. Half of 1-piece and 2-piece abutment-implant units were tested for the evaluation of the bending strength, and the others were cyclically loaded for the evaluation of the fatigue resistance until plastic deformation occurred. Nonparametric statistical analysis was performed for the results. Results. Mean plastic and maximum bending moment were $1,900{\pm}18Nmm,\;3,609{\pm}106Nmm$ for the 1-piece abutment, and $1,250{\pm}31Nmm,\;2,688{\pm}166Nmm$ for the 2-piece abutment, respectively. Mean cycles and standard deviation when implant-abutment joint showed a first plastic deformation were $238,610{\pm}44,891$. cycles for the 1-piece abutment and $9,476{\pm}3,541$ cycles for the 2-piece abutment. A 1-piece abutment showed significantly higher value than a 2-piece abutment in the first plastic bending moment (p<.05), maximum bending moment (p<.05) and fatigue strength (p<.05). Conclusion. Both 1-piece and 2-piece conical abutment had high strength and fatigue resistance and this suggests long-term durability without mechanical complication. However, the 1-piece conical abutment was more stable than the 2-piece conical abutment in the strength and the fatigue resistance.

The problem of disposing construction waste materials has become a national and social problem. Recycled powder generated in the process of making aggregate, and the recycled powder is land-filled in its entirety. Results of toxicity testing of recycled power show that it contains base-pair substituent mutagenicity. As recycled powder is disposed of as landfill, it can cause secondary contamination such as soil and underground water contamination. There has been very little research made on recycled powder. This study has examined the utilization of concrete mixture by using recycled powder in a mixture instead of cement and compared and analyzed the characteristics of dynamics and workability. This study has examined the application of recycled powder in concrete. Depending on the replacement rate and workability, test piece was manufactured using different mixing rate by CP, WCP, PCP. The CP was used to examine the physical property of concrete and characteristics its dynamics. The letters W of WCP and P of PCP are the initials of water and mixture. They were made using the standard mixing ratiosemphasizing the workability to determine the characteristic of dynamics of concrete based on the mixing ratio of recycled powder. With the increase in the replacement rate, CP had very little change in the strength. But with the decline of slump, the workability was not good. The result of manufacturing WCP and PCP using the standard mixing ratio showed that WCP had a drop in strength compared to the plain. PCP had almost the same value as the plain only when the replacement rate was 10%. When it was higher than that, a reduction in strength was observed.

This study was performed to develop antimicrobial films using polyvinyl alcohol and methyl cellulose. Methyl cellulose and polyvinyl alcohol films plasticized with PEG(polyethylene glycol) were prepared by solvent casting process under addition of 0.025~1.0 wt% ampicillin and 0.1~1.0 wt% streptomycin as an antimicrobial agent. The mechanical properties of prepared films were examined by universal testing machine(UTM). Tensile strength of methyl cellulose films was 15.44~21.70 $N/mm^2$. Tensile strength of PVA(15 wt%) film was 20.2~51.5 $N/mm^2$, and the tensile strength of the antimicrobial films were decreased linearly with increasing the antibiotic loading amount up to 1 wt%. Antimicrobial activities of PVA and methyl cellulose films containing ampicillin and streptomycin through the disc diffusion test for the Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. The antimicrobial activity of methyl cellulose films and PVA containing ampicillin were higher than that of containing streptomycin methyl cellulose films. The results indicate the films may be a proper materials for antimicrobial packing applications.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of oral environment on the strength of resin bracket wings by comparing fracture mode according to water immersion and thermocycling. Seventy-five resin brackets(Spirit MB, Ormco, California) were divided into three groups and treated for six months as follows; (1) untreated, (2) water immersion in distilled water at $37^{\circ}C$, (3) water immersion in distilled water at $37^{\circ}C$ with total 2,100 times of thermocycling taken 350 times each month. Fracture mode of the wing was tested on universal testing machine. In addition to resin brackets, 25 metal brackets were used as controls. Through the statistical analyses, following results were obtained. 1. Resin bracket wings showed significantly lower fracture strength than metal brackets(p<0.001). 2. Water immersion and water immersion with thermocycling groups showed significantly lower fracture strength than open air condition group(p<0.001). 3. Water immersion with thermocycling group showed significantly lower fracture strength than water immersion group(p<0.001). The above results suggest that the mechanical property of resin bracket wing nay be influenced by oral environment and further research is needed to improve the strength of the wing in the resin bracket.
Statement of problem: Many kinds of post and core systems are in the market, but there are no clear selection criteria for them. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the flexural strength and modulus of elasticity of core materials, and measure the bending strength of post systems made of a variety of materials. Material and Methods: The flexural strength and elastic modulus of thirteen kinds core buildup materials were measured on beams of specimens of $2.0{\times}2.0{\times}24{\pm}0.1mm$. Ten specimens per group were fabricated and loaded on an lnstron testing machine at a crosshead speed of 0.25mm/min. A test span of 20 mm was used. The failure loads were recorded and flexural strength calculated with the measured dimensions. The elastic modulus was calculated from the slopes of the linear portions of the stress-stram graphs. Also nine kinds commercially available prefabricated posts made of various materials with similar nominal diameters, approximately 1.25mm, were loaded in a three-point bend test until plastic deformation or failure occurred. Ten posts per group were tested and the obtained data were anaylzed with analysis of variance and compared with the Tukey multiple comparison tests. Results: Clearfil Photo Core and Luxacore had flexural strengths approaching amalgam, but its modulus of elasticity was only about 15% of that of amalgam. The strengths of the glass ionomer and resin modified glass ionomer were very low. The heat pressed glass ceramic core had a high elastic modulus but a relatively low flexural strength approximating that of the lower strength composite resin core materials. The stainless steel, zirconia and carbon fiber post exhibited high bending strengths. The glass fiber posts displayed strengths that were approximately half of the higher strength posts. Conclusion: When moderate amounts of coronal tooth structure are to be replaced by a post and core on an anterior tooth, a prefabricated post and high strength, high elastic modulus core may be suitable. CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS In this study several newly introduced post and core systems demonstrated satisfactory physical properties. However when the higher stress situation exists with only a minimal ferrule extension remaining a cast post and core or zirconia post and pressed core are desirable.
Polymer concrete shows excellent mechanical properties and chemical resistance compared with conventional normal cement concrete. The polymer concrete Is drawing a strong interest as high-performance materials in the construction industry Resins using recycled PET offer the possibility of a lower source cost of materials for making useful polymer concrete products. Also the recycling of PET in polymer concrete would help solve some of the solid waste problems Posed by plastics and save energy. An objective of this paper is to estimate the damage of sulfuric acid, through investigating recycled PET polymer concrete, immersed at sulfuric acid solution for 84 days. As a result of testing, recycled PET PC, used $CaCO_3$ as filler, makes a problem of appearance and strength if they are exposed for long term at corrosion environment. On the other hand, recycled PET PC, used fly-ash as filler, had less effect on decrease in weight and strength. Recycled PET PC is excellent chemical resistance, resulting in the role of unsaturated polyester resin which consists of polymer chain structure accomplishes bond of aggregates and filler strongly. Also, recycled PET PC, used fly-ash as filler, is stronger resistance of sulfuric acid corrosion than $CaCO_3$, because it is composed of $SiO_2$ and very strong glassy crystal structure. Therefore, recycled PET PC, used fly-ash as filler, is available under corrosion circumstances like sewer pipe or waste disposal plant.

The purpose of this research is to verify the performance of hardening accelerator in cement paste through mechanical performance evaluation and micro structure analysis on hardening accelerator for development of super high early strength concrete. The research results showed that hardening accelerator produced $Ca(OH)_2$ when hydrated with cement, enhancing the degree of saturation of Ca ion by using differential thermal analysis. Moreover, porosity was reduced rapidly as capillary pores were filled by hydration products of $C_3S$. According to the experiment using hydration measurement testing, when 1% and 3% of accelerator were mixed, hydration rate increased toward the second peak point compared to high early strength cement, before the first peak point disappeared. It turned out that adding accelerator accelerated the hydration rate of cement, especially $C_3S$. The shape of C-S-H is shown depending on the amounts of accelerator added and the production and age of $Ca(OH)_2$ by using SEM to observes hydration products. Therefore, it's evident that hardening accelerator used in this research increases amounts of $Ca(OH)_2$ and accelerates $C_3S$, it is effective for the strength development on early age.
