  • A mercury sphygmomanometer (MS) has been the gold standard for pediatric blood pressure (BP) measurements, and diagnosing hypertension is critical. However, because of environmental issues, other alternatives are needed. Noninvasive BP measurement devices are largely divided into auscultatory and oscillometric types. The aneroid sphygmomanometer, the currently used auscultatory method, is inferior to MS in terms of limitations such as validation and regular calibration and difficult to apply to infants, in whom Korotkoff sounds are not audible. The oscillometric method uses an automatic device that eliminates errors caused by human observers and has the advantage of being easy to use; however, owing to its measurement accuracy issues, the development of an international validation protocol for children is important. The hybrid method, which combines the auscultatory and electronic methods, solves some of these problems by eliminating the observer bias of terminal digit preference while maintaining measurement accuracy; however, the auscultatory method remains limited. As the age-related characteristics of the pediatric group are heterogeneous, it is necessary to reconsider the appropriate BP measurement method suitable for this indication. In addition, the mobile application-based BP measurement market is growing rapidly with the development of smartphone applications. Although more research is still needed on their accuracy, many experts expect that mobile application-based BP measurement will effectively reduce medical costs due to increased ease of access and early BP management.

  • This paper presents the parameter measurement methods for high performance drive of induction motors, which are suitable for the self-commissioning function of commercial inverters. In this study, some factors that affect the accuracy of parameter measurement are examined. Measuring methods and conditions that are best fit to each parameter measurement procedure are then proposed. All the measurement procedures can be done without any auxiliary equipment, so that those can be easily adopted as self-commissioning functions of commercial inverters. To improve the measuring accuracy, least square approximation methods are adopted during the measurement procedure. The validity of the proposed methods are confirmed through experiments.

  • The auto-collimation by using theodolite has been accomplished for the straight measurement and the horizontality adjustment. But according to the procedure of auto-collimation or composition of the measurement equipment, an error of the measurement can be occurred. Therefore, this paper accomplished the research for enhancement of measurement accuracy according to measurement procedure of auto-collimation. For that, it has been compared the study of the combination of several precise measurement equipment with using of several theodolite.

  • Although laser interferometer measurement system has the advantage of range and accuracy, the traditional error measurement methods for geometric errors(two straightness and three angular errors) of a machine tool measures error components one at a time. It may also create an optical path difference and affect the measurement accuracy. In order to identify and compensate for geometric error of a moving body, an on-line measurement system for simultaneous detection of the five error components of a moving axis is required. An on-line measurement system with 5 degrees of freedom was developed for geometric error detection. Performance verification of the system was performed on an error generating mechanism. Experimental results show the feasibility of this system for identifying geometric errors of a side of machine tool.

  • This paper presents a machine vision system, which inspects the measurement of the ALC block on a real-time basis in the production process. The automatic measurement system was established with a CCD camera, an image grabber, and a personal computer without using assembled measurement equipment. Images obtained by this system was processed by an algorithm, specially designed for an enhanced measurement accuracy. For the realization of the proposed algorithm, a preprocessing method that can be applied to overcome uneven lighting environment, boundary decision method, unit length decision method in uneven condition with rocking objects, and a projection of region using pixel summation are developed. From our experimental results, we could find that the required measurement accuracy specification is sufficiently satisfied by using the proposed method.

  • The OMM(On-Machine-Measurement) system has many advantages compare to conventional measurement in the way the time and cost. But, the sensor suitable to OMM system is restrictive use. Touch trigger probe sensor has long time for measurement and non-contact sensor has directional demerit. Because the long mechanical parts such as gear and lead screw for pump, injector and machine tools has big and heavy, unclamp and transferring for measurement in machining process is very difficult. This paper presents a development of ultra miniature eddy current displacement sensor with 3 axes for On-Machine-Measurement system. The accuracy of the sensor is experimentally proved in the grinding machine. In experimental results, the accuracy has under ${\pm}5\;{\mu}m$.

  • In most multi-stage forging processes, the die spotting process or alignment of punch and die depends on the manual operation. It results a very tedious and inefficient procedure, thus the proper measurement system is needed to improve productivity and accuracy. This paper proposes a measurement system for alignment of die and punch which has a cylindrical holder, and describes the system concepts using 3 eddy-current displacement transducers and precise measurement jig. In order to apply this measurement system to real situations, the measuring procedures and system calibration method, etc. are proposed. Finally, the accuracy and productivity of this measurement system are investigated in this paper.

  • A high-accuracy magnetic field measurement device based on a cyclotron is being developed for accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS). In this study, a magnetic field measurement device consisting of a Hall probe sensor, piezo-motor, and step motor was developed to measure the magnetic field of the AMS cyclotron magnet. The Hall probe sensor was calibrated to achieve positional accuracy by using polar coordinates. The measurement results between the ratchet gear and piezo-motor, which are the instruments used for driving the measurement device, were analyzed. The measurement result of the device with a piezo-motor exhibits a difference of 5 Gauss (0.04%) as compared with the simulation result.

  • This study aimed to test method on the accuracy of estimating the items parameters and ability, using the Three Parameter Logistic. To achieve the objectives of the study, an achievement test in chemistry was constructed for third-year secondary school students in the course of "natural sciences". A descriptive approach was employed to conduct the study. The test was applied to a sample of (507) students of the third year of secondary school in the "Natural Sciences Course". The study's results revealed that the (EAP) method showed a higher degree of accuracy in the estimation of the difficulty parameter and the abilities of persons higher than the MML method. There were no statistically significant differences in the accuracy of the parameter estimation of discrimination and guessing regarding the difference of the two methods: (MML) and (EAP).

  • A amplitude modulation(AM) range measuring system utilizes the phase difference of the modulated envelope of the reflected signal to measure the distance. It is known that the AM system has a problem in accuracy due to antenna leakage signals and spurious reflection signals, but an AM range measurement system using an active reflector, which shifts the frequency bands, has been proposed in order to minimize the measurement errors due to spurious signals. In this paper, a new phase measurement module for the AM range measurement system, which enables to measure long distance with good accuracy, is proposed. The modulation frequency is alternatively selected between 8 and 1 MHz, and the measured distance range with this module is up to 150 m within 2 cm accuracy. A JK flip-flop circuit is used for higher phase accuracy, and an XOR circuit is used to cover long distance.
