  • In this paper, the calculation using simulation and two measurement methods for G/T of the telemetry are analyzed. Antenna gain and noise temperature are calculated by using ICARA and Antenna Noise Temperature Calculator. System G/T were calculated by using Antenna gain/noise temperature, LNA gain/noise temperature, cable loss. The first G/T measurement method is Y-factor measurement method, which is to calculate G/T by comparing LNA noise temperature and a signal level difference when an antenna and a 50ohm termination are respectively connected to an LNA input terminal Second method is Solar calibration measurement method that is to calculate G/T by comparing noise level difference when looking at the sun and lowest level point. Finally, the accuracy was reviewed by comparing the G/T calculation results with the two measurement methods, and the optimal measurement method according to antenna performance and operating environment was presented.

  • The simulated indoor pass-by noise measurement system is the tool to measure and evaluate the pass-by noise at the test laboratory, without doing measurement at the field. This measurement system can realize the precision measurement under the specific condition and overcome the limitations of the field measurement, i.e. weather conditions, repeatability, .. This measurement system is done in time domain process using the array techniques, which synchronizes the time signals. The reliability of the obtained result depends on the array shapes, which can generate the moving source effect. In this paper, the validations are checked focusing the time domain synchronization of the signals with the optimum microphone array shape.

  • Noise power of large machineries, such as textile looms, winders, and twisting machines, is often measured in a reverberant space because they cannot be installed and operated in an anechoic chamber due to their size, weight, and operating conditions. Factors affecting the measurement error of an in-situ noise power measurement include the nonuniform reverberation time and the direction of sound intensity vector which is usually regarded as normal to the measurement surface. In this study errors due to these factors are estimated with the aid of numerical simulation based on the ray-tracing technique. The averaging of reverberation times measured at several points on the measurement surface is suggested to reduce the errors from nonuniform absorption. Also the direction cosine of each surface element is taken into account, which as a whole is represented as a solid angle of the measurement surface.

  • Measurement of noise is not only to know the information of acoustic pressure but to assess human response to noise. To find human response to transportation noise through the laboratory study we have to measure and reproduce noise. The method of noise reproduction is largely divided into monaural and binaural techniques. But human fundamentally hears sound through both ears, referred as binaural hearing. Binaural signal is different from monaural signal because it includes more information of physical phenomena like acoustical reflection, diffraction and refraction. Especially head and pinna play an important role in perceiving change of signal origin. So, the amplitude of binaural signal is higher than that of monaural signal and spectrum of both signals is discriminated. Most of assessment and regulation of transportation noise are, however, based on monaural measurement techniques. The quantitative difference between monaural and binaural measurement is investigated in this study. Comparison on several transportation noisesshows defect of information in monaural measurements.

  • In order to detect and identify the GPS clock anomaly in the Differential GPS real environment, this paper addresses a method for minimizing the measurement noise of reference receivers. It estimates the real measurement noise that removed the uncommon error source from pseudorange measurement to minimize the measurement noise. Based on the output of two reference receivers, it first removes the uncommon errors, then optimizes the measurement noise by applying the correction data. Finally, it detects and identifies the satellite clock anomaly using the minimized measurement noise. The method will increase the availability of current DGPS reference system.

  • In this paper, the sound radiation level of parts of a O.B. Motor was measured and analyzed by the measurement method using wave-guide reverberation environment. Based on the above measurement results, a noise control was established for engine cover and exhaust silencer and its effects were compared and analyzed. The noise control method increased transmission loss by painting GELNAC on the engine cover and extend exhaust pipe to reach under water.

  • In this paper, we propose a method for defining the input termination for on-wafer-type device under test (DUT) measurement. Using the newly defined input termination and noise wave correlation matrix (NWCM) measurement method based on noise power ratio, the NWCM of the on-wafer-type DUT was measured. We demonstrate a noise measurement configuration that includes wafer probes and bias tees to measure the on-wafer DUT. The S-parameter of the adapter that combines the bias tee, probe, and a line terminated by open is required to define the input termination for on-wafer DUT measurement. To measure the S-parameter of the adapter, a 2-port S-parameter measurement method using 1-port measurement is introduced. Using the measured S-parameters, a method for defining the new input termination for on-wafer-type DUT measurement is applied. The proposed method involves the measurement of the NWCM of the chip with a 1.5 dB noise figure. The noise parameters of the chip were obtained using the measured NWCM. The results indicate that the obtained values of the noise parameters are similar to those mentioned on a datasheet for the chip. In addition, repeated measurements yielded similar results, thereby confirming the reliability of the measurements.
