  • Let p be an odd prime and c be a fixed integer with (c, p) = 1. For each integer a with $1{\leq}a{\leq}p-1$, it is clear that there exists one and only one b with $0{\leq}b{\leq}p-1$ such that $ab{\equiv}c$ mod p. Let N(c, p) denote the number of all solutions of the congruence equation $ab{\equiv}c$ mod p for $1{\leq}a$, $b{{\leq}}p-1$ in which a and $\bar{b}$ are of opposite parity, where $\bar{b}$ is defined by the congruence equation $b{\bar{b}}{\equiv}1$ mod p. The main purpose of this paper is using the mean value theorem of Dirichlet L-functions and the properties of Gauss sums to study the computational problem of one kind mean value function related to $E(c,p)=N(c,p)-{\frac{1}{2}}{\phi}(p)$, and give its an exact computational formula.

  • We investigated seed management and feeding regime of larval red spotted grouper Epinephelus akaara using live food organisms. Fertilized eggs were produced in March 2020 by manipulating photoperiod and water temperature. Broodstock (F0) produced approximately 0.30×106 eggs, of which 0.25×106 were fertilized; first-generation broodstock (F1) produced 2.00×106 eggs, of which 1.90×106 were fertilized. Larvae were reared at temperatures of 21.0-24.5℃. The feeding regime consisted of rotifers Artemia, and commercial pellet feed. From 5-8 days after hatching (dah), rotifers collected from high-density incubation tanks were fed to grouper larvae at a density of 10-20 individuals/mL. From 9-30 dah, rotifers collected from low-density incubation tanks were fed to larvae at a density of 10-20 individuals/mL. Newly hatched Artemia were provided from 20-24 dah and enriched Artemia from 25-50 dah. Commercial pellet feed was given starting at 13 dah. The average mouth size in hatchlings was 263.4±3.7 ㎛ at 5 dah, 406.7±21.0 ㎛ at 11 dah, and 856.9±136.6 ㎛ at 21 dah. At 1 dah, larvae had a mean total length of 1.95±0.06 mm. At 66 dah, the mean TL was 4.0 cm. The final number of surviving red spotted grouper larvae was 218,380 fishes.

  • To study the effect of moisture content of the diet on drinking behaviour and the amount of water drunk, observations were made on 8 Holstein steers fed either fresh cut forage or first cut hay. The observations were made in a barn with a mean temperature of about $13^{\circ}C$. Drinking occurred mainly within 3 hours after feeding for the steers fed hay, while those fed soilage drank casually. Frequency of drinking (F) was related to the dry-matter concentration (DMC, %) of herbage: F = 0.47 (${\pm}0.09$) DMC - 6.5, $SE={\pm}0.4$, r = 0.86, P<0.01. Intake of drinking water for each 100 kg of live weight (IDW/100kg) for steers fed soilage was related to the dry-matter concentration: IDW/100kg = 0.55 (${\pm}0.06$) DMC - 8.7, $SE={\pm}0.3$, r = 0.94, P<0.01. The intake of water in each drinking period for animals fed fresh forage was curvilinearly related to the drinking frequency; for the hay-fed steers there was a negative linear relationship. When the drinking frequency for steers fed the fresh forage increased to the same as that observed for the hay, water intake in each drinking period was the same as found for the hay-fed steers.

  • In this study, we selected suitable broth media for mass production of Phytophthora capsici oospore, investigated oospore germination and secured $F_1$ progeny. Carrot broth and V8C broth were determined most effective for oospore formation by calculating and comparing oospore concentration produced from 8 different liquid media. Eleven strains were selected from P. capsici (CapA)/P. tropicalis (CapB) and 9 crosses were formed. Oospore progeny were produced, isolated and germinated from A1 and A2 combinations of P. capsici (CapA) with P tropicalis (CapB). This resulted in a total number of 129 $F_1$ isolates of P. capsici/P. tropicalis with a 0.64-4.0% (mean 1.85%) oospore germination.

  • The natural convection from an inclined ice flat plate immersed in cold water near its density maximum is studied numerically. Finite difference analysis has been performed for the heat and momentum transfer with respect to various inclined angles and ambient water temperatures. The results of the analysis are presented for ambient water temperatures, 1.0deg. C. leq. T/sub .inf./.leq. 15.0deg. C and the inclined anales from 0deg to 60deg. They include velocity profiles, temperature profiles, melting velocities, and mean Nusselt numbers for entire flow fields, Generally, in the range of 0deg. C .leq.theta. .leq. 60.deg. C, the results show three distinct flow regimes, In the range of 1.0 deg. C .leq. T/sub .inf./ .leq. 4.6 .deg. C, the greatest mean Nuselt number exists about 3.0deg. C. In the range of 5.7deg. C .leq. T/sub .inf./ .leq. 15.0deg. C, mean Nuselt number increases as ambient water temperature increases. Also, the mean Nuselt number decreases as the inclined angle increases. This theoretical results are compared with previous experimental ones and multiple steady state ones.

  • Crystals of nicotine dihydroiodide, are orthorhombic with space group $p2_12_12_1$.The unit cell of dimensions a=7.61, b=11.01, e=17.27${\AA}$, contains four formula units. The structure has been determined by X-ray diffraction method and has been refined to give the R-index, ${\sum}{\mid}{\mid}F_{\circ}{\mid}-{\mid}F_c{\mid}{\mid}{\div}{\sum}{\mid}F_{\circ}{\mid}$, of 0.16 and 0.14 for $F_{okl}\;and\;F_{hol}$ respectively. The mean lengths of C-C and C-N bonds in pyridine ring are 1.40 and $1.35{\AA}$ and those in pyrolidine ring 1.56 and $1.48{\AA}$ respectively, though accurate measurement of bond length has not been attempted. The six atoms in the pyridine ring are coplanar and on the other hand $C_6,\;C_7,\;C_8$ and $N_2$ atoms in pyrrolidine ring form a plane within accuracy of the analysis, and $C_9$ atom is distant $0.22{\AA}$ out of the plane consist of $C_6,\;C_7,\;C_8$ and $N_2$ aoms. The normals to the two planes form an angle of $94^{\circ}$ with each other. Iodine atom is distant $3.55{\AA}$ from nitrogen atom in pyridine ring and the other iodine atom $3.58{\AA}$ from nitrogen atom in pyrrolidine ring, so that the nitrogen and iodine atoms are firmly linked. It seems that the only forces binding nicotine dihydroiodide molecules together in the crystal are Van der Waals forces.
