A Study on the Auto-MTPT Algorithm to Make the Speed-based Current-map of IPMSM for Traction of Inwheel (인휠 구동용 IPMSM의 속도 기반 전류맵 작성을 위한 Auto-MTPT 알고리즘)

  • Theoretical IPMSM control technique is complicated, and reliability is low because of the changing parameters. Further, in case of general look-up table designing method which obtains torque characteristics (according to current and speed) or torque characteristics (according to magnetic flux through the entire control region), obtaining a precise result can be difficult and has the disadvantage taking too much time to establish a current look-up table. In this paper, the new auto maximum torque point tracking (MTPT) algorithm that automatically finds the optimum stator d - q axis electric current reference through the entire speed region is devised; consequently, it could establish a 3D look-up table with torque characteristics according to current and speed. In case of using the devised auto MTPT algorithm, the result value detailed was obtained in comparison with the generalized look-up design technique, and checked to reduce the current look-up table establishment time.

  • This paper describes current controlled PWM technique of IPM synchronous motors for a wide variety of speed control applications. The IPM synchronous motors have a saliency, in which the q-axis inductance is larger than the d-axis inductance. As a consequence, there exists a reluctance torque component Thus when this component is added to the torque component produced by the stator currents and the air-gap flux, IPM motor drives are readily applicable where full torque Is required up to full or base speed. They are however limited in their ability to operate in the power limited regime where the available torque is reduced as the speed is increased above its base value. This paper reviews the operation of the IPMSM drives when they are constrained to be within the permissible envelope of maximum inverter voltage and current to produce the rated power and to provide this with the highest attainable rotor speed. The wide variety of speed control strategy is analyzed and the performance is investigated by the computer simulation using actual parameters of a drive system. Simulation results are given and discussed.

  • Ball valves are used as a key element in the process industries. The industrial development of valves has increased steadily, but continued improvement requires high design reliability and long service life. Currently, the development of high performance valves is not easy because of the lack of relevant technology in Korea. Valves are being imported at a level of up to 58 percent of the domestic market, which represents a value of almost 7 million US dollars. Therefore, in this work, the improvement of the design and performance of industrial valves has been studied in an attempt to achieve valves that will have longer service life and better output during operation. The structural stability was evaluated using the ANSYS FSI (Fluid-Structural Interaction) module. Moreover, to obtain maximum product reliability, torque analysis simulation was performed to compare and experimental results. The simulation results were used to predict the change in torque by changes in shape, thereby reducing the time and cost of manufacturing a number of prototypes for experimental validation.

Machine Learning Perspective Gene Optimization for Efficient Induction Machine Design

  • In this paper, induction machine operation efficiency and torque is improved using Machine Learning based Gene Optimization (ML-GO) Technique is introduced. Optimized Genetic Algorithm (OGA) is used to select the optimal induction machine data. In OGA, selection, crossover and mutation process is carried out to find the optimal electrical machine data for induction machine design. Initially, many number of induction machine data are given as input for OGA. Then, fitness value is calculated for all induction machine data to find whether the criterion is satisfied or not through fitness function (i.e., objective function such as starting to full load torque ratio, rotor current, power factor and maximum flux density of stator and rotor teeth). When the criterion is not satisfied, annealed selection approach in OGA is used to move the selection criteria from exploration to exploitation to attain the optimal solution (i.e., efficient machine data). After the selection process, two point crossovers is carried out to select two crossover points within a chromosomes (i.e., design variables) and then swaps two parent's chromosomes for producing two new offspring. Finally, Adaptive Levy Mutation is used in OGA to select any value in random manner and gets mutated to obtain the optimal value. This process gets iterated till finding the optimal value for induction machine design. Experimental evaluation of ML-GO technique is carried out with performance metrics such as torque, rotor current, induction machine operation efficiency and rotor power factor compared to the state-of-the-art works.

Cure Characteristics, Mechanical Property and Ozone Resistance of Natural Rubber/Bromo Isobutylene Isoprene Rubber Blend

  • Natural rubber (NR) and bromo-isobutylene-isoprene rubber (BIIR) were compounded with other formulation chemicals through polymer blending via a mechanical mixing method. After rubber vulcanization by hot-press compression molding, the cure characteristics, mechanical properties, and ozone resistance of the NR/BIIR blends were measured. As the BIIR content increased, the maximum torque of the blends decreased, while the optimum cure time and scorch time tended to increase. Furthermore, the hardness of the blends increased with increasing BIIR content, reaching the maximum value at 75 wt% BIIR, and decreased with a further increase in the BIIR loading. The tensile strength and elongation at break decreased with an increase in the BIIR content, reaching the minimum value at 75 wt% BIIR, and increased with a further increase in the BIIR content. In the ozone resistance test, cracks were not generated when the BIIR content was more than 75 wt%.

  • In this paper, an improved re-adhesion control scheme is proposed for 1C4M railway traction system. It is well known that the coefficient of adhesion between wheel and rail has a maximum value at a certain slip velocity. In the proposed scheme, adhesive effort is estimated by a full-order observer and the driving torque of motor is controlled to get maximum adhesive effort. The-adhesion control simulator is designed to verify the proposed re-adhesion control algorithm. The simulation results and experimental results are presented.

  • Strength evaluation was carried out for the fillet and oil hole of crankshaft of medium speed diesel HiMSEN engine to verify initial concept design. Alternating torque obtained from torsional vibration analysis and radial force due to firing pressure were applied. It was assumed that the maximum alternating torque and radial force occur simultaneously. Weak points in view of fatigue are proceeding fillet and crank pin fillet area and the minimum normalized fatigue safety factor is 1.17 at crank pin fillet. The fatigue strength of the oil hole was evaluated to verify the effect of the surface roughness of the oil hole. As results, the specific level of the inner surface roughness and the polishing depth of the oil hole for sufficient fatigue strength was suggested. The maximum stress value and stress distribution at the inner surface of the oil hole can be easily estimated at initial design stage by the newly developed method.

  • The characteristics of the circular arc shaped multi-blade windmil are investigatedl. The prototypical windmill was tested in the laboratory at wind tunnel speeds of 5.5, 9.4m/s. and the model windmill was also tested in the laboratory, The power and torque coefficients were studied as functions of the blade section, the aspect ratio for blade diameter and windmill radius(M = 0.3, 0.5, 0.7), the number of blades and finally the tip-speed ratio. The analysis of the experimental results for the model windmill showed that there is the highest revolutions per minute(R.P.M) at the circular arc shaped multi-blade windmill having the blade number 10, aspect ratio(M = 0.7). and the results for the prototypical windmill showed that the power coefficient increased to a maximum value and then decreased again with an increase in the tip speed ratio, while the torque coefficient decreased directly with an increase in the tip speed ratio Finally, the experimental results were compared with the Savonius blade. the maximum power coefficient for the arc shaped blade was greater than for the Savonius blade and occured at a lower tip speed ratio.
