  • Cellular manufacturing requires formation of machine cells that can produce families of parts with similar processing requirement. The purpose of cell formation is to create separable machine clusters and part families simultaneously. However, the cell formation process often includes the identification of exceptional elements. This paper presents cell formation method under consideration of alternative routings in FMS which consists of machines capable of multi-processing and parts which require more than one operation. We suggest theorems to calculate the maximum number of machine cell and part family which have no exceptional elements. We also develop a cell formation algorithm which is based on the suggested theorem. A numerical example is provided to illustrate the proposed theorem and algorithm.

  • Maximum and minimum of rendom variables are frequently encountered in the stochastic modelling for various OR problems. We summarize and extend characteristics of maximum and minimum, emphasizing the case in which random variables are independent and all of them except one are distributed exponential. As an application, we derive a transform-free expression for the M/G/1 queue length distribution.

  • An optical novelty filter is implemented using photorefractive materal(BaTiO$_{3}$) as a recording materal and commercial liquid crystal TV as a spatial light polarization modulator. If a signal beam incident at the proper, the loop and the crossing angle inside th e crystal is formed to get maximum diffraction efficiency and BaTiO$_{3}$ as a self-pumped phase conjugation mirror show that phase conjugate reflectivity was 20 times as much as ordinary polarization if signal beam is extraordinary. In this paper, the stoke's theorem which is a reciprocal theorem for which is a reciprocal theorem for beam path is experimentally proved, and good output images were obtained with optical experiment of novelty filter which is formed by use of Michelson interferometer.

  • In this paper we derive the higher order expansions of the first four cumulants of multi-dimensional Maximum Likelihood Estimator (MLE) under the general parametric model up to and including terms of order O({{{{ {n }^{-1 } }}}}) Also we obtain the explicit form of the expansion of the normalizing trans formation of multi-dimensional MLE and show that the suggested normalizing process is much better than the normal approximation based on central limit theorem through example.

  • This study proposes a new method for transmission system expansion planning using fuzzy integer programming. It presents stepwise cost characteristics analysis which is a practical condition of an actual system. A branch and bound method which includes the network flow method and the maximum flow - minimum cut set theorem has been used in order to carry out the stepwise cost characteristics analysis. Uncertainties of the permissibility of the construction cost and the lenient reserve rate and load forecasting of expansion planning have been included and also processed using the fuzzy set theory in this study. In order to carry out the latter analysis, the solving procedure is illustrated in detail by the branch and bound method which includes the network flow method and maximum flow-minimum cut set theorem. Finally, case studies on the 21- bus test system show that the algorithm proposed is efficiently applicable to the practical expansion planning of transmission systems in the future.

  • In this paper, we propose a fault diagnosis method based on Park's Vector Approach using the Euler's theorem. If we interpreted it as Euler's theorem, it is possible to easily find the phase angle difference between the healthy condition and the fault condition. And, we analyzed the variation of the phase angle and performed the diagnostic method of the induction motor using feature vectors that were obtained by using a Fourier transform. The analysis of time and speed variation of the motor was performed and, as a result, we could find more soft variations than rough variations. In particular, the analysis of the distortion through each phase shows that two-turn and four-turn shorted motors are linearly separable. In this experiment, we know that the maximum breakdown threshold value for determining steady-state fault detection is 49.0788. Simulation and experimental results show the more detectable than conventional method.

  • This paper presents sets of explicit analytical equations that compute the static displacements of nanobeams by adopting the nonlocal elasticity theory of Eringen within the framework of Euler Bernoulli and Timoshenko beam theories. Castigliano's theorem is applied to an equivalent Virtual Local Beam (VLB) made up of linear elastic material to compute the displacements. The first derivative of the complementary energy of the VLB with respect to a virtual point load provides displacements. The displacements of the VLB are assumed equal to those of the nonlocal beam if nonlocal effects are superposed as additional stress resultants on the VLB. The illustrative equations of displacements are relevant to a few types of loadings combined with a few common boundary conditions. Several equations of displacements, thus derived, matched precisely in similar cases with the equations obtained by other analytical methods found in the literature. Furthermore, magnitudes of maximum displacements are also in excellent agreement with those computed by other numerical methods. These validated the superposition of nonlocal effects on the VLB and the accuracy of the derived equations.
