Development of Translucent RP Material by Post-processing of FDM ABSi (FDM ABSi의 후가공을 통한 반투명 RP 재료의 개발)

  • Translucent plastics are commonly used in packaging of mechanical and/or electrical components. Although Rapid Prototyping(RP) provides prototypes of various materials, translucent RP parts are not readily available from most RP processes. ABSi is one of the ABS materials available for Stratasys' FDM process, and the material has potential to be translucent. In this paper, two post-processing techniques were applied in order to increase optical transmissivity of the parts made of FDM's ABSi. First, elevated temperature condition was applied resulting in increased transmissivity while dimensional shrinkage was observed. Second, resin infiltration and surface sanding provided upto 16% transmissivity without shrinkage. These post-processes can be selectively applied to increase transmissivity of ABSi parts. Thus, translucent FDM part can be fabricated from regular FDM process followed by the post-processes developed in this study.

  • PLM(Product Lifecycle Management) is an information management system that can integrate data, processes, business systems and human resources throughout the enterprise. BOM(Bills Of Material) is key data for designing, purchasing materials, manufacturing planning and management, which is basic for product development throughout the product life cycle. In this paper, we propose the efficient system to increase the data loading speed and the processing speed when using such large BOM data. We present the performance and usability of IMDG (In Memory Data Grid) for data processing when loading large amounts of data. In the UI, using the pure web grid of JavaScript instead of the existing data loading method can be improve performance of data managing.

Synthesis of a new class of carbon nanomaterials by solution plasma processing for use as air cathodes in Li-Air batteries

  • Li-air batteries have a promising future for because of their high energy density, which could theoretically be equal to that of gasoline. However, substantial Li-air cell performance limitations exist, which are related to the air cathode. The cell discharge products are deposited on the surfaces of the porous carbon materials in the air electrode, which blocks oxygen from diffusing to the reaction sites. Hence, the real capacity of a Li-air battery is determined by the carbon air electrode, especially by the pore volume available for the deposition of the discharged products. In this study, a simple and fast method is reported for the large-scale synthesis of carbon nanoballs (CNBs) consisting of a highly mesoporous structure for Li-air battery cathodes. The CNBs were synthesized by the solution plasma process from benzene solution, without the need for a graphite electrode for carbon growth. The CNBs so formed were then annealed to improve their electrical conductivity. Structural characterization revealed that the CNBs exhibited both an pore structure and high conductivity.

  • SU-8 is a epoxy based photoresist designed for MEMS applications, where a thick, chemically and thermally stable image is desired. But SU-8 has proven to be very sensitive to variation in processing variables and hence difficult to use in the fabrication of useful structures. In this paper, negative SU-8 photoresist processed has been characterized in terms of delamination. Based on a full factorial designed experiment. Employing the design of experiment (DOE), a process parameter is established, and analyzing of full factional design is generated to investigate degree of delamination associated with three process parameters: post exposure bake (PEB) temperature, PEB time, and exposure energy. These results identify acceptable ranges of the three process variables to avoid delamination of SU-8 film, which in turn might lead to potential defects in MEMS device fabrication.

  • The determination of surface morphology is believed to be extremely important in the areas of contact mechanics, adhesion and friction. In order to describe morphology of various rubbed surface, the wear test was carried out under different experimental conditions in lubricating wear. And fractal descriptors was applied to rubbed surface of hydraulic driving material with image processing system. These descriptors to analyze surface structure are fractal dimension. Surface fractal dimension can be determined by sum of intensity difference of surface pixel. Morphology of rubbed surface can be effectively obtained by fractal dimensions.

Magnetic Field Analysis of the Electrode Arc Furnace in Steel Making Foundries

  • Finite element analysis showed that strong magnetic fields were distributed around the arc furnace where the strongest magnetic fields were generated around the three phase cables. The second and third strongest fields near the arc furnace were found to be generated around the electrodes and the mast-arms, respectively. The generated field intensities were greatly influenced by the mast arm structure of the arc furnace as well as the phase differences and operation currents of the supplied power, Magnetic field decay patterns around the arc furnace could be smoothly fitted by this equation of exponential formula, H=H$0_$+Ae$^{\frac{r}{t}}$. These results revealed that magnetic field intensities around the arc furnace could be estimated at any 3-dimensional position using finite element method (FEM).

  • The micro fabrication on the mold material using picosecond laser ablation processing has been studied. We used the two kind of system with picosecond laser. First one is two mirror type scanner and telecentric f-theta lens. Second one is X-Y stage and objective lens. By using these system, the $100{\mu}m$ size chess patterning and $2{\mu}m$ size patterning was fabricated. Especially $2{\mu}m$ size patterning on the mold material can be used as the decorative rainbow color logo for industrial field. In this paper, it is proved the picosecond laser is effective tool for the laser ablation processing.

  • The SCM420 used mainly to automobile transmission gear has problems that it costs transmission gear maker much money in carburizing treatment. For this, it needs to alternate the existing material and heat treatment to new gear material and surface modification. For this, friction and wear experiment according to sliding speed and applied load was carried out to evaluate the wear resistance of two transmission gear materials with oxidation nitrocarburising and non-oxidation nitrocarburising NT100, The presumed wear volume was calculated with the image processing for evaluation of wear resistance of two transmission gear materials. The results show that the oxidation nitrocarburising has a distinguished wear resistance than non-oxidation nitrocarburising.

  • X/40/60 PLZT thin films were prepared by sol-gel processing and annealed by rapid thermal annealing(RTA). X/40/60 PLZT thin films were crystallized at 75$0^{\circ}C$ for 5min by RTA. Hysteresis curves were narrowed and coercive field was decreased from 50kV/cm to 31.2 kV/cm and remnant polarization was also decreased from 14.3$\mu$C/$\textrm{cm}^2$ to 6.72$\mu$C/$\textrm{cm}^2$ as La mol% increased. Dielectric constanat and optical transmittance were increased with increasing La mol%.

Pressure Dependency of Electrical Properties of In-free SiZnSnO Thin Film Transistors (공정 압력에 따라 제작되어진 비인듐계 SiZnSnO 박막을 이용한 박막트랜지스터의 성능 연구)

  • The dependency of processing pressure on the electrical performances in amorphous silicon-zinc-tin-oxide thin film transistors (SZTO-TFT) has been investigated. The SZTO channel layers were deposited by using radio frequency (RF) magnetron sputtering method with different partial pressure. The field effect mobility (${\mu}_{FE}$) increased and threshold voltage ($V_{th}$) shifted to negative direction with increasing pressure during deposition processing. As a result, oxygen vacancies generated in SZTO channel layer with increasing partial pressure resulted in negative shift in $V_{th}$ and increase in on-current.
