In this paper, it was studied on the crystallization characteristics of PLA film by adding ammonium phosphate (APP) as a nucleation agent. Crystallinity and crystallite size of PLA film were determined by Scherrer equation. Crystallization rate constant of PLA film was calculated through Avrami equation. Film samples in the study were prepared by two steps. PLA films were prepared by adding 1, 5, and 10 wt%, respectively, at first and was secondly annealed at 130, 140, and $150^{\circ}C$. Crystallinity of pure PLA film was average 4.6% and those of PLA film with adding 1, 5, and 10 wt% APP were 12.2, 47.7, and 50.0%, respectively. Crystallite size of PLA film was average 28.0 nm and those of PLA film with adding 1, 5, and 10 wt% APP were 26.8, 24.0, and 19.0 nm, respectively. Crystallization rate constants of PLA film with 1 wt% APP were 2.12, 3.86, and 0.27 by annealing at 130, 140, and $150^{\circ}C$, respectively, where was higher than pure PLA film and those with adding 5 and 10 wt% APP, respectively.
An experimental research was carried out to investigate the effect of thc compressive strength of concrete on the stirrup effectiveness in shear behavior of concrete beams. For this purpose. total 24 beams of section dimension of $300{\times}600mm$ were tested: 4 specimens without web reinforcement and 20 specimens with web reinforcement in the form of vertical stirrups. Main variables were two levels(norma1 and high strength) of the compressive strength of concrete and six types of t h e shear rcinfor.cement ratios. Prior to experiment, for given sections and assumed material constants, the reference shear reinforcement ratio(${\rho}_vACI$) which leads to the flexure failure using the provisions of the ACI Building Code(AC1 318-95) was calculated. and the shear reinforcement ratios were relatively selected from the value of ${\rho}_vACI$. From test results, it was shown that thc safety factor of ACI eyuation for p1,ediction of shear strength was decreased with increasing the compressive strength of concrete in beams without stirrups. However. it was observed that as the amount of' stirrup is increased, the safety factor for high strength conci, ete beams with high stirrup ratio is ensured more than that for normal strength concrete beams. Therefore i t appears that the stirrup effectiveness of high strength concrete beams is greater than that of normal strength concrete beams.

In this paper, we designed and fabricated the EM wave absorbers for preventing the reduction of the communication range when RFID Tag is approached to a metal plate. The EM wave absorber samples were fabricated with difference composition ratios of Amorphous metal powder and CPE, the absorption abilities of which were simulated by substituting different thicknesses of the EM wave absorbers. Then the EM wave absorbers are manufactured based on the simulated results. By using the EM wave absorbers, we have confirmed the improvement effect of RFID tag antenna and the increase of communication range of RFID system. As a result, it was cleary shown that the communication range of RFID system is improved by adopting the EM wave absorber with the composition ratio of Amorphous metal powder:CPE=80:20 wt.% and the thickness of 4 mm. Thus, it was confirmed that the proposed EM wave absorber can increase the communication range of RFID system from 0.8 m to 5.2 m in UHF band.

Bentonite has been considered as a liner material to restrict the release of hazardous heavy metals from the landfill. The adsorption of copper onto a domestic bentonite was studied to provide the adsorption isotherm and the effect of solution chemistry and temperature. The copper adsorption was fitted well to a Freundlich isotherm, in which Freundlich constants and correlation coefficient were calculated to be $K_F=1.18$, n=1.65, and $r^2=0.97$, respectively. The distribution coefficients ($K_d$) for the adsorption of copper decreased with increasing initial copper concentration. The $K_d$ increased with increasing the pH of solution, and drastically increased at pH > 5.3 because of precipitation of most copper species. As the ion strength of $Na^+$ in solution increased the $K_d$ decreased, while it increased with increasing the concentration of $SO_4{^{2-}}$ in solution. An increase in the temperature of experimental solution decreased the $K_d$ values.
The purpose of this experimenL is to investigate the magnetic anisotropy and microwave absorbing properties in M-type Bat territe (${BaFe}_{12-2X}{A}_{X}{Me}_{X}{O}_{19}$), where $Fe_{3+}$ is substituted by $Ti_{4+}$ in A site and $Co_{2+}$ in Me site. The saturation magnetization (Ms) is linearly decreased with the substitution rate(x) and the coerciviLy (He) is rapidly decreased in accordance with the reduction in t the magnetocrystalline anisotropy For the specimen with x=0.8 and thickness of 2 mm, the reflection loss calculated from the n material constants is less than -10 dB (90% absorption) in the frequency range of 10~16 GHz. The absorption loss is pre이.ctcd t to be more than 20 dElern in the frequency range of 12-16 GHz. The results demonstrate that the Ti-Co substituted M-type Ba-ferrite can be effectively used as a microwave absorber at high frequency range.
The recovery activation energy, the order of reaction and the recovery rate constant were detemined by isochronal and isothermal annealing treatment to investigate the recovery behaviors of neutron irradiated Mn-Mo-Ni low alloy steels$(fluence: 2.3\times10^{19}ncm^{-2}, 553K, E\geq1.0 MeV)$. Vickers microhardness tests were conducted to trace the recovery behavior after heat treatments. The results were analyzed in terms of recovery stages, behavior of responsible defects and recovery kinetics. It was shown that recovery occurred through two annealing stages(stage I : 703-753K, stage n : 813-873K) with re$\infty$very activation energies of 2.5 eV and 2.93 eV for each stage I and n, respectively. From the comparison of unirradiated and irradiated isochronal anneal curves, a radiation anneal hardening(RAH) peak was identified at around 813K. Most of recovery have occurred during about 120 min irrespective of isothermal annealing temperatures of 743K and 833K. Recovery rate constants were determined to be $3.4\times10^{-4}min^{-1} and 7.1\times10^{-4}min^{-1}$ for stage I and II, respectively. The order of reaction was about 2 for both recovery stages. Comparing the obtained data with those of previously reported results on neutron irradiated Mn- Mo- Ni steels, the thermal recovery behavior of the present material seems to occur by the dissociation of point defect clusters formed during irradiation, and by the recombination process of self-interstitials and vacancies from dissociated vacancy clusters.

NbC, HfC, TaC, and their solid solution ceramics have been identified as the best materials for ultrahigh-temperature ceramics. However, their structural stability and elastic properties are mostly unclear. Thus, we investigated structure and elastic properties of (Nb1-xTax)C and (Nb1-xHfx)C solid solutions via ab initio calculations. Our calculated results show that the stability of (Nb1-xTax)C and (Nb1-xHfx)C increases with the increase of Hf and Ta content, and (Nb1-xHfx)C is more stable than (Nb1-xTax)C at the same content of Hf and Ta. The lattice constants decrease with increasing of Hf and Ta content. (Nb1-xTax)C and (Nb1-xHfx)C carbides are mechanically stable and brittle. Bulk modulus of (Nb1-xTax)C increases with increasing Ta content. In contrast, bulk modulus of (Nb1-xHfx)C decreases with increasing Hf content. Hardness of solid solutions shows the highest values at the (Nb0.25Ta0.75)C and (Nb0.75Hf0.25)C. In particular, (Nb0.75Hf0.25)C shows the highest hardness for the current system. The results indicate that the overall mechanical properties of (Nb1-xHfx)C solid solutions are superior to those of (Nb1-xTax)C solid solutions. Therefore, controlling the Hf and Ta element and content of the (Nb1-xTax)C and (Nb1-xHfx)C Solid solution is crucial for optimizing the material properties.
The characteristic of induced anisotropy is investigated in this study for the Pohang mudstone involving the cut plane discontinuity. The uniaxial and triaxial compression tests are performed for anisotropic rocks with artificial joint to look into anisotropic strength characteristics. Both the uniaxial compressive strength and triaxial compressive strength show the lowest value at the angle of cut plane, ${\beta}=30^{\circ}$ and the shoulder type of anisotropy is obtained. Anisotropy ratio (Rc) in uniaxial compression measures 9.0, whereas Rc=1.29-1.98 in triaxial compression is appeared. A series of analyses are made with the test results to derive the suitable parameter values when it is applied to the Ramamurthy (1985) failure criterion. The result of uniaxial compression test is analyzed by introducing the n-index into Ramamurthy failure criterion. The result shows that, n=l is suitable for ${\beta}=0^{\circ}{\sim}30^{\circ}$ and n=3 is suitable for ${\beta}=30^{\circ}{\sim}90^{\circ}$. To analyze the result of triaxial compression test by Ramamurthy failure criterion, anisotropy ratio in uniaxial compression test is added to Ramamurthy's equation and material constants are estimated by modified Ramamurthy's equation. When these values are applied back to Ramamurthy failure criterion, the predicted values are well fitted to the test results. And strength anisotropy for failure criteria of Jaeger (1960), McLamore & Gray (1967) and Hoek & Brown (1980) are also investigated.

Recently, NDTs (Non-Destructive Techniques) using infrared camera are widely studied for detection of damage and void in RC (reinforced concrete) structures and they are also considered as an effective techniques for maintenance of infrastructures. The temperature on concrete surface depends on material and thermal properties such as specific heat, thermal conductivity, and thermal diffusion coefficient. Different porosity on cement mortar due to different mixture proportions can show different heat behavior in cooling stage. The porosity can affect physical and durability properties like strength and chloride diffusion coefficient as well. In this paper, active thermography which uses flash for heat induction is utilized and thermal characteristics on surface are evaluated. Samples of cement mortar with W/C (water to cement ratio) of 0.55 and 0.65 are prepared and physical properties like porosity, compressive strength, and chloride diffusion coefficient are evaluated. Then infrared thermography technique is carried out in a constant room condition (temperature $20{\sim}22^{\circ}C$ and relative humidity 55-60%). The mortar samples with higher porosity shows higher residual temperature at the cooling stage and also shows reduced critical time which shows constant temperature due to back wall effect. Furthermore, simple equation for critical time of back wall effect is suggested with porosity and experimental constants. These characteristics indicate the applicability of infrared thermography as an NDT for quality assessment of cement based composite like concrete. Physical properties and thermal behavior in cement mortar with different porosity are analyzed in discussed in this paper.

This work studies the synthesis of birnessite (${\delta}-MnO_2$), a catalyst of oxidative-coupling reactions, from the powder of spent alkaline manganese batteries (SABP, <8 mesh) and evaluate its reactivity for 1-naphthol (1-NP) removals. Manganese oxides using commercial reagents ($MnSO_4$, $MnCl_2$) and the acid birnessite (A-Bir) by McKenzie method were also synthesized, and their crystallinity and reactivity for 1-NP were compared with one another. 96% Mn and 98% Zn were extracted from SABP by acid leaching at the condition of solid/liquid (S/L) ratio 1:10 in $1.0M\;H_2SO_4+10.5%\;H_2O_2$ at $60^{\circ}C$. From the acid leaching solution, 69% (at pH 8) and 94.3% (pH>13) of Mn were separated by hydroxide precipitation. Optimal OH/Mn mixing ratio (mol/mol) for the manganese oxide (MO) synthesis by alkaline (NaOH) hydrothermal techniques was 6.0. Under this condition, the best 1-NP removal efficiency was observed and XRD analysis confirmed that the MOs are corresponding to birnessite. Kinetic constants (k, at pH 6) for the 1-NP removals of the birnessites obtained from Mn recovered at pH 8 (${Mn^{2+}}_{(aq)}$) and pH>13 ($Mn(OH)_{2(s)}$) are 0.112 and $0.106min^{-1}$, respectively, which are similar to that from $MnSO_4$ reagent ($0.117min^{-1}$). The results indicated that the birnessite prepared from the SABP as a raw material could be used as an oxidative-coupling catalyst for removals of trace phenolic compounds in soil and water, and propose the recycle scheme of SAB for the birnessite synthesis.
