The interconnection of an enormous number of devices into the Internet at a massive scale is a consequence of the Internet of Things (IoT). As a result, tasks offloading from these IoT devices to remote cloud data centers become expensive and inefficient as their number and amount of its emitted data increase exponentially. It is also a challenge to optimize IoT device energy consumption while meeting its application time deadline and data delivery constraints. Consequently, Fog Computing was proposed to support efficient IoT tasks processing as it has a feature of lower service delay, being adjacent to IoT nodes. However, cloud task offloading is still performed frequently as Fog computing has less resources compared to remote cloud. Thus, optimized schemes are required to correctly characterize and distribute IoT devices tasks offloading in a hybrid IoT, Fog, and cloud paradigm. In this paper, we present a detailed survey and classification of of recently published research articles that address the energy efficiency of task offloading schemes in IoT-Fog-Cloud paradigm. Moreover, we also developed a taxonomy for the classification of these schemes and provided a comparative study of different schemes: by identifying achieved advantage and disadvantage of each scheme, as well its related drawbacks and limitations. Moreover, we also state open research issues in the development of energy efficient, scalable, optimized task offloading schemes for Fog computing.
IoT is becoming more and more popular, along with the massive availability of cheap and easy-to-use IoT devices. One protocol that is often used in IoT devices is the Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) protocol. By default, the MQTT protocol does not activate encrypted data security features. This MQTT default feature makes the transmitted and received message data vulnerable to attacks, such as eavesdropping. Therefore, this paper will design and implement encrypted data security using the lightweight cryptography algorithm. The focus of this paper will be on securing MQTT message data at the application layer. We propose a method for encrypting specific MQTT message fields while maintaining compatibility with the protocol's functionalities. The paper then analyzes the timing performance of the MQTT-LEA implementation on the Raspberry Pi 3+. Our findings demonstrate the feasibility of using LEA at the application layer to secure MQTT message communication on resource-constrained devices.

Accelerated by the Internet of Things (IoT), the need for further technical innovations and developments within wireless communications beyond the fifth generation (B5G) networks is up-and-coming in the past few years. High altitude platform station (HAPS) communication is expected to achieve such high levels that, with high data transfer rates and low latency, millions of devices and applications can work seamlessly. The HAPS has emerged as an indispensable component of next-generations of wireless networks, which will therefore play an important role in promoting massive IoT interconnectivity with 6G. The performance of communication and key technology mainly depend on the characteristic of channel, thus we propose an efficient Markov chain based channel model, then analyze the HAPS communication system's uplink capability and swing effect through experiments. According to the simulation results, the efficacy of the proposed scheme is proven to meet the requirements of ubiquitous connectivity in future IoT enabled by 6G.
Machine learning (ML) algorithms have been intended to seamlessly collaborate for enabling intelligent networking in terms of massive service differentiation, prediction, and provides high-accuracy recommendation systems. Mobile edge computing (MEC) servers are located close to the edge networks to overcome the responsibility for massive requests from user devices and perform local service offloading. Moreover, there are required lightweight methods for handling real-time Internet of Things (IoT) communication perspectives, especially for ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC) and optimal resource utilization. To overcome the abovementioned issues, this paper proposed an intelligent scheme for traffic steering based on the integration of MEC and lightweight ML, namely support vector machine (SVM) for effectively routing for lightweight and resource constraint networks. The scheme provides dynamic resource handling for the real-time IoT user systems based on the awareness of obvious network statues. The system evaluations were conducted by utillizing computer software simulations, and the proposed approach is remarkably outperformed the conventional schemes in terms of significant QoS metrics, including communication latency, reliability, and communication throughput.
