선박 냉각시스템에서의 전기 에너지 절감 시스템에 관한 연구 (Study on the Electric Energy Saving System in Marine Cooling System)

  • Fuel represents a significant portion of the operating costs of voyages of the vessel. Under this situation, dramatic increase in fuel price caused a problem that earnings of ship becomes decreased seriously. Pumps in a cooling system of the vessel are often operated inefficiently. The reasons will vary from process to process and application to application. Inefficiency of pumps is one of the reason for making the cost of operating the vessel increased. This paper suggests energy-effective cooling system that controls sea water pumps with inverters to reduce energy consumption in vessel by conducting simulation with LabVIEW. Results shows that electric energy consumption of pumps are significantly deceased. If this energy-effective cooling system is applied to other systems which need cooling, it could be useful in reducing electric energy wastage.

BC-B Type150K DWT Class Bulk carrier 구조적 특성에 관한 고찰 (A study of Analysis for 150K DWT Class Bulk carrier(BC-B type))

  • A BC-B type bulk carrier is rarely built, so the structural characteristics is not reported and familiar so far. The biggest difference between BC-B and BC-A type vessel is applying alternate cargo loading, which density is over $1.0ton/m^3$. In this paper, 150K DWT class BC-B type bulk carrier is calculated and compared with BC-A type vessel, which has same condition such as main dimension and deadweight, about prescriptive rule and FEA based on CSR. And aspect ratio of target vessel is smaller than typical capsize bulk carrier, so 150K and 180K bulk carrier, which applied BC-A type, are also compared to find feature of wide beam vessel.

  • In this paper, the authors demonstrate a new idea to take the place of the real pressure vessel test, which should be carried out in a high pressure experiment unit before the real sea trial test. The idea is to make a pressure vessel model as a replica of the real pressure vessel test, which can reduce the cost of making a pressure vessel and large pressure experiment unit. The pressure vessel model was designedbased on linear-elastic, buckling equations and Finite Element Analysis. The manufactured pressure vessel model was investigated and monitored while the pressure test was being conducted. After the test, the result and the validity of the pressure vessel model as a replica of the real pressure vessel test was studied.

우리나라의 해양사고에 대한 고찰 (Study on the marine casualties in Korea)

  • Fishing vessels have been causing more than 70% of marine casualty in Korea. As a view of the occurring number of marine casualty, it is obvious for fishing vessel to account for the absolute high portion of that in comparison with the non-fishing vessels. That is a natural outcome because fishing vessels have occupied more than 90% of all registered Korean vessels. If we consider it not occurring number, but occurring ratio, we could find out that fishing vessels accounted for 5 times lower than non-fishing vessels in marine casualties. Nevertheless, fishing vessels have not immunity from responsibility for marine casualties at all, because the tendency of it in fishing vessel has been dominating the whole marine casualties in Korea. So for reduction of them, it is indispensable to decrease the casualties of fishing vessel. In this study, the authors tried to carry out many items of them to compare the occurring number with the occurring ratio, and dealt with the casualties of collision and machine damage in detail, because those have not only been occurring most frequently in casualties in Korea, but also led to the death and injury of lives. To reduce the collision and the machine damage, the operator have to keep the watch more strictly and check and keep the machine in good order. And it is necessary for the operator to take more education and training intended to decrease those systematically and continuously, especially for the crews of fishing vessels.

The assessment of Safe Navigation Regarding Hydrodynamic forces between ships in Restricted Waterways

  • This paper is primarily focused on the safe navigation between overtaking and overtaken vesselsin restricted waterways under the external forces, such as wind and current. The maneuvering simulation between two ships was conducted to find an appropriate safe speed and distance, which is required to avoid collision. From the viewpoint of marine safety, a greater transversedistance between two ships is more needed for the smaller vessel. Regardless of external forces, the smaller vessel will get a greater effect of hydrodynamic forces than the higher one. In the case of close navigation between ships under the forces of wind and current, the vessel moving at a lower speed is potentially hazardous because the rudder force of the lower speed vessel is not sufficient for steady-state course-keeping, compared to that of the higher speed vessel.

  • Most of vessels are not evaluated for their vibration and noise effects to human body. The vibration and noise generated by engine and auxiliary machine in vessel is a negative element for seamen. Therefore, in this paper, the diagnosis and evaluation of vibration and noise from vessel is accomplished by a shipbuilding corporation. The vibration and noise transferred from engine room and auxiliary machine was measured during the steady-state operation, and the vibration and noise map of vessel was made. Also, in order to evaluate the ship environment for human, the diagnosis is carried out on the base of measurement results.

해상풍력발전단지의 대체통항로 통항안전성 평가에 관한 연구 (Study on the Vessel Traffic Safety Assessment for Routeing Measures of Offshore Wind Farm)

  • 본 연구에서는 대정해상풍력단지 설치 해역과 인근수역을 이용하는 선박교통량과 해상교통흐름의 패턴을 분석하고 단지 조성 후 합리적인 대체통항로 지정에 따른 교통량을 예측하였다. 또한 예측된 교통량을 근거하여 통항로별 통항안전성을 평가하고 검토함으로써 선박의 안전운항에 필요한 제반조건 및 대책을 제시하였다. 풍력단지 설치 해역과 인근수역의 해상교통흐름 패턴을 분석한 결과 총 8가지의 교통흐름으로 분류되었고, 연간 교통량은 8,975 척으로 예측되었다. 이를 근거로 단지 조성 후 4가지의 대체 통항로 지정에 따른 교통량을 예측하였다. 예측된 교통량과 SSPA의 동력선충돌모델을 이용하여 통항안전성을 평가한 결과 충돌 및 침로이탈확률에 관한 국내 안전기준 $10^{-4}$ 이하를 만족하므로 계획된 대체통항로가 유용함을 확인하였다.

전남 지역의 패류 형망어선의 개량 (The improvement of the shellfish dredge vessel in Jeonnam province)

  • This study is aimed to develop an improved shellfish dredge vessel considering the increase of the fishing safety and welfare of fishermen in Jeonnam province. We visited five fishing village societies in Korea, and conducted field surveys and survey questions to investigate the current status. In order to solve the problems presented by the investigation, a general arrangement of the improvement vessel was written and adopted after meeting between the fishermen and research team, and calculated the initial stability in five loading conditions by using the Napa program. As a result of field surveys and survey questions, the existing vessel have buoyant materials under the bow and the warp pass through the wheel-house. In addition, most fishing equipment and nets are concentrated on a narrow stern, making it difficult to work efficiently. According to the survey, fishermen also responded that operation of casting and hauling is very inconvenient. The fishing equipment of the improvement vessel was rearranged, the size of the wheel-house and the crew room was increased, and we secured a basic welfare space. As a result of the initial stability test, the stability criteria of the fishing vessel were satisfied in all loading condition.

Merging of Satellite Remote Sensing and Environmental Stress Model for Ensuring Marine Safety

  • A virtual vessel traffic control system is introduced to contribute to prevent a marine accident such as collision and stranding from happening. Existing VTS has its limit. The virtual vessel traffic control system consists of both data acquisition by satellite remote sensing and a simulation of traffic environment stress based on the satellite data, remotely sensed data And it could be used to provide timely and detailed information about the marine safety, including the location, speed and direction of ships, and help us operate vessels safely and efficiently. If environmental stress values are simulated for the ship information derived from satellite data, proper actions can be taken to prevent accidents. Since optical sensor has a high spatial resolution, JERS satellite data are used to track ships and extract their information. We present an algorithm of automatic identification of ship size and velocity. It lastly is shown that based on ship information extracted from JERS data, a qualitative evaluation method of environmental stress is introduced.

  • Since the STCW-F convention was adopted, The states concerned, has been investigated in many ways to adopt the prevailing circumstance and condition, accordingly, all preparation will be provided to accept the STCW-F convention to promote the safety of life and prevention of pollution. Prior to enter into force of this convention, we have to investigate the matter of policies, and must have great international concern to the seamen's education. Especially, we should discuss functional skill and knowledge matrix of fishing vessel seamen's education with the supplementary studies, and therefore, we should reflect to the contents, methods of education, inducement of advanced technics, application of education all aids to meet the acceptance of STCW-F convention. Also, we are attempt to implement to accept high quality of fishing vessel seamen's education as the application of simulator and any other advanced devices in future.
